Un romanzo in forma di inchiesta giornalistica. Una raccolta di testimonianze e documenti. Il risultato? Il racconto intrigante di una realtà possibile, forse perfino vera… e diversi spunti di riflessione.
Una scrittura precisa e piacevole per questo racconto in forma di reportage, le cui conclusioni sono assolutamente credibili e, comunque sia, inquietanti.

Simply a series of historical statements woven into a propaganda story

Berlino, aprile 1945; nel bunker dove Adolf Hitler e i suoi più fedeli accoliti sono rifugiati, con l’armata russa che sta conquistando la capitale del Reich, ha inizio l’Operazione Fenice, sotto la supervisione del medico personale del fuhrer, Werner Haase.
Il romanzo, scritto sotto forma di indagine giornalistica, prende spunto da un dossier che sarebbe stato consegnato all’autore da un misterioso personaggio all’Havana, durante la visita del presidente Obama a Cuba.
Del reportage c’è il rigore storico, suffragato dalle numerose testimonianze dell’epoca, sia di nazisti che di russi o americani; Marco Bonafede fa un’accurata (e plausibile) ricostruzione dei fatti che avrebbero permesso a Hitler di lasciare un discendente e infiltrarlo negli Stati Uniti, fornendogli i mezzi per tentare la scalata alla Casa Bianca.
Un libro intelligente, ben scritto, frutto di minuziose ricerche, che fa riflettere e pone un’inquietante domanda: e se la storia non fosse quella che noi conosciamo?
Lascio al lettore il dubbio con la nota finale dell’autore: “Se considerate questo romanzo un'inchiesta giornalistica, allora ogni riferimento a persone realmente esistite ed esistenti è puramente casuale.
Se lo considerate una satira allora deve fare per forza riferimento anche a personaggi esistiti ed esistenti perché non si può fare satira su nulla.”

This is an interesting read, whether you want to believe it is true or a work of fiction doesn't really matter. The fact is all governments have secrets. A Nazi Plot that may still be continued to this day is not something I would dismiss easily. I also believe that other governments, including an American government, have a n idea of the truth behind the cover-ups that happen. The author did a great job stating the facts and also taking the reader back into the time of tumultuous horror called World War II. Personally, I have written a fiction story of how Hitler and his Nazi's may still have a connection to life today. The author raises an interesting subject with this book and it will be up to the reader to look for the truths.
