The Calling

The Bible specifically warns us that we have an adversary, the devil, that seeks to destroy us...and it's true! Too often, society paints the spiritual realm, full of angels, devils and demons as fantasy even though this couldn't be further from the truth. We have a real enemy that studies every weakness we have, waiting for the perfect moment to attack when it seems that we are the most vulnerable. This story details a true personal account of the perfect conditions leading up to years of spiritual attack, and the findings and conclusions reached along the way. In spite of our known enemy, the good news is that there is a hope in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. He has already defeated all the works of the devil on the cross and victory during a spiritual battle is already yours if you cling to him and what he has already spoken over you.

Dawn Potter directs the Frost Place Conference on Poetry and Teaching, held each summer at Robert Frost's home in Franconia, New Hampshire. She is the author or editor of seven books of poetry and prose, most recently Same Old Story (CavanKerry Press, 2014). Her poems and essays appear in major journals in the United States and abroad, and she works often as a visiting poet in the schools. She lives in Harmony, Maine, with photographer Thomas Birtwistle and their two sons.
