I haven't read many medical thrillers before this, and I found it very interesting. It was such a great story idea, and though some elements were expected, there were a few really great twists thrown in. I like the fact that it was written by an actual doctor. I did struggle whether to place this at a 2 or 3 star level. As I said, I really liked the story. The characters were very believable, and nothing in the story seemed far-fetched. Now I will share a little constructive criticism. Firstly, I found it took me a little longer to read than a book this size would usually take. I think this was due to a lot of scenes not having any direct impact on the story line. I think that would have been the biggest reason of the lower rating. The only other thing that hindered my reading was the medical terminology and explanations. Overall it was very informative, but like I previously mentioned sometimes it didn't really affect the story line. I will say though that in several scenes the doctor is explaining something in very medical terms, to which the other character will ask for it in "plain English". I think that's perfect. It is in the places that a character isn't directly speaking that I think would need a little less of the medical terminology that the general public wouldn't know. Overall, I think it is worth a read. Despite some of it's shortcomings, the story does make it worth your time.
Great medical thriller actually written by a doctor! I really enjoyed the story. I won this in a contest and it was a very good read! I look forward to reading more in the series.
