Rate this book
The Lady Tigers were all about being a team. From the very first tryout, Margie, Trish, Sally and Nikki, with the help of their coaches, found they were a force to be reckoned with. But like all teams, the girls find that even the highs of winning cannot crush the painful lessons of hardship both on and off the field. When Margie's dad is called away to serve his country, the Lady Tigers must band together to make a difference in the lives of military kids on the base. But will their efforts be a success or a big strike out?

This was so stinkin' cute. I love middle-grade books with my whole heart, so when Dawn Brotherton reached out to me and asked if I'd like to read her book, I said yes, please! Now, I will be the first to admit that I know next to nothing about softball, but I could fairly easily follow along in the scenes where the sport was played, so that was a definite plus! And I very much appreciated how softball was part of the story but wasn't the focus.

Margie's story was fascinating. I'm not a military kid myself, but I can only imagine how difficult it must be, and the author did a great job showing how hard it is. The way Margie wanted to make her dad proud was so sweet.

I adored Margie's friendship with her fellow Lady Tigers. Any book that centers around friendship is my jam, and it was in full swing here. The girls supported each other so much, and I just love that there wasn't any "girl drama", just best friends being there for one another.

Overall, it was an adorable story with a great message about faith, family, and friendship. I can think of several girls in my life I would happily hand this series to. Four stars!
