Put this book in your carry-on, and make sure to reserve a window seat; this is excellent airplane reading for the curious frequent flier.

Explains various observable meteorological, geological, and physical phenomenon that you idly wonder at while in the air. Some phenomena are very straightforward, and some are rather more involved; the book’s chapter headings allow the reader to pick and choose based on his/her interests on a given flight.
