Baton Rouge is a place that is known for its rich history, but it’s also known for its spirits. From the moment Tyler and her step-father, Noah, moved into the large abandoned house that was once a plantation, she knew that they weren’t alone. The sounds of footsteps in an empty hall, laughter when there was no one there, and the dark shadow that would appear made her a believer. Are they the trapped spirits of the slaves that once worked the land, or is it a demon with a deeper, more sinister purpose that had been waiting patiently for Tyler to seek its revenge for sins done long ago? The more she tries to convince Noah that there’s something going on, the more he demands for her to mind her own business. The closer Tyler gets, the mysteries of not only the past, but also of the present surrounding the death of her mother begin to unravel. Tyler comes face to face with the glaring truth of two things; no one is what they seem to be, and that in the HOUSE OF GRAY, there is no death us part.
This is a great book. Boots had me on my feet the whole time. Tyler is a very strong character and I truly like her. Demarco her boo thang truly cared for. Cookie was her rider. She even help her fight.. well read the story. You won't be disappointed!
I wish this was a lot longer, I wish the details of the past were more in-depth because I did NOT want it to be over! Great read.
Side note: if cookie was child we’d have problems cause lex is a SISTER you can pick a side but to jump your sister?! That was inane a twin at that....also I’m so glad Gabby was who she was in this story, the character development forces you to see she’s a confused girl who believed she found happiness.
Maggie tho?!
Also the attic! What was up there? What was Big Mama doing? Did she get 86d too that day?
I wasn't sure what I was expecting from this story, but it surpassed all of my expectations!!! I felt as though I was not only reading an awesome story, Burt that I was also watching an awesome movie unfold!!! The events that led to Tyler and her friends freedom were so entertaining that it kept me on the edge of my seat!!! Definitely a page turner!!!
This is my first paranormal novel I've read and it was pretty good. I can't say that I fully understood the curse and why it was done, but I'm glad Tyler got closure and broke it.
I enjoyed this read but there was definitely a lot of pieces to follow and keep up with the connections in order to add to the eeriness of the read. It made enough sense to make it scary if you were there. Good read
I really didn't know what to expect from this book but when I cracked it open and started reading it, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I love paranormal books and this one is at the top of my list.
I am lost. I really don't even know where to begin with this book. Firstly it needs editing. But even editing coulda help this story. It makes absolutely no sense. Totally regret purchasing this book.
Tyler was stronger than she thought she was. Noah was a narcissist. Gabby wok up in time from Noah's and Boots. Caleb was a good spirit that watched over Tyler. Glad they got rid of Boots and Noah paid for his sins.
This book takes you away from the usual gangs, thugs, Thots and street life. It gives you a glance into the world of the paranormal. It is not the type of read for the faint at heart. It was a very enjoyable read, and reminded me of the big house on the hill that everyone says is haunted, especially on Halloween night. The only difference is that this house has spirits roaming around who have been in there for decades, and it's Tyler's job to solve the mystery and set them free. I recommend this read, and i would love to read more by this author.
This was pretty good. It was scary but not so bad that I'm afraid to go to sleep. I loved how brave Taylor was. Caleb was a sweetheart a good soul. Noah was a complete ass. In some ways I almost felt sorry for Boots. I think his situation (slavery and being owned by blacks) created the monster he became. Though I wonder if Gabby may end up pregnant with Noah/Boots child since she was raped by him? I don't know if this is a standalone but I would like to know more about Taylor's future.
I enjoy anything that has to do with paranormal, so it wasn't a surprise that I enjoyed this book. Tyler was a strong minded young lady who, after moving into a huge house with her stepfather after her mother's death, she started feeling and seeing things. Trying to find the cause of the spirits in the house she uncovers a whole bunch of family secrets she didn't expect. I gave it 4 stars because there was a few errors, but overall it was a good book
Well, I don't usually indulge in otherworldly matters, but evil does exist alongside of good. But I don't think it takes psychics to kill evil...the way to kill evil is The Way, The Truth, and The Life-Jesus Christ! John 14:6. At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow of things in heaven, things in the earth, and things under the earth. Philippians 2:10
My first paranormal read and I loved it! It was so descriptive it was like watching a movie. Very well written with no editing mistakes. I highly recommend this read!!
Couldn't put this book down, it was a real page turner for me, waiting to see what happens next. First time reading from this author will read more books.
