I'm used to going for the easy things in life.
The easy A in school.
The easy lay in bed. The easy life my trust fund affords me.
Until I met Shelby.
Never in my life have I found retro T-shirts and lip balm so damn sexy.
She's exactly what I never knew I wanted.
And she's anything but easy.
But suddenly, easy is overrated.

Only one damn problem... For Shelby, hating me is easy.

For the first time in my life, I have to work for something. And though
she may not be easy...she'll be worth it.

Katana Collins is a USA Today bestselling author of over twenty novels, novellas, and comic books in a variety of genres. She is most known for her sensual contemporary romances and her wildly popular comic book— Batman White Knight Presents: Harley Quinn with DC Comics.

When she was younger and stole her mother’s Harlequins to read beneath the covers with a flashlight, she wanted to read about the tough as nails heroine. The perfectly imperfect girl with quirks and attitude and sass. And the anti-heroes who were anything but “Prince Charming.” Forget the knight on a white horse … she wanted the bad boy on a motorcycle.

An avid animal lover, she lives in Portland, Maine with her kind of mean cat, derpy lab-pitt mix, mellow chihuahua, and very not mellow cairn terrier puppy. Oh, yeah… there’s a husband somewhere in that mix, too.

She can usually be found in a coffee shop with her nose buried in a laptop wearing fabulous (albeit sometimes impractical) shoes.

She loves connecting with book lovers like herself, and fellow sassy storytellers, so feel free to drop her an email, visit her on her website. She also loves connecting on Instagram, Facebook or in her reader group, Kat’s Kittens!

When I read the synopsis of Blind Spot by Katana Collins, it sounded like a fun read so I immediately bumped it up on my TBR pile bypassing the other books that I need to read and review. As much as I enjoyed the book, it still didn’t live up to expectation. The story line was monotonous in several scenes and so I didn’t feel the strong connection to either Shelby and Tate. Don’t get me wrong the book is well-written, but it didn’t leave a lasting impression when I finished reading. Personally, the story was just okay. I just wished the author was able to pull in her readers with more of an emotional connection instead of the rich boy falls in love with poor girl vibe.

Hmm.... Well I’m on the fence. I sort of loved this story but I felt like it was just a tad bit too slow to hook me fully. Blind Spot pairs up Shelby and Tate. He’s the trust fund college kid living in the penthouse above her single bedroom box of an apartment – and although there is an instant attraction and a great first encounter, parts of this story stalled for me.

I love the cover, the blurb and the whole concept of this book. And although I did enjoy it, it just wasn’t a memorable read. Meaning that after a few days have passed, I am struggling to recall basic details. So it wasn’t a story I fell head over heels with, but I did enjoy it.

This book does a lot of things that are really awesome. First, #CoverWin ... that cover grabs your attention and makes you want to read about the man behind that picture. Second, the story-line isn't overused so its attractive to a person like myself who is constantly reading. And third, the synopsis was written in a very eye-catching manner, so #BlurbWin.

However, when I started reading and getting into this story, it took a while for it to wow me. That was disappointing, but when it finally did get going, I loved it. I used to always think that if a story didn't grab you right away, that it probably would not be a very good story, but I've learned that isn't the case most times. Sometimes, stories are more of a slow burn, like Blind Spot. Once the story gets going, the chemistry is off the charts and the story is captivating and engaging :) I loved not only Shelby & Tate, but also secondary characters that added to the fun!

I enjoyed this book. Shelby and Tate had really great chemistry. The story was interesting and I was loving it until we got to the big misunderstanding that always takes place in NA books. I liked the writing, the pace of the story and the characters. My only issue with this one was the big misunderstanding that happened and the characters reaction to it. It was a bit too predictable and kind of pissed me off. I did still enjoy this book and would definitely read more by this author in the future.

"...I could handle a little darkness. Because I had a feeling that deeper below that darkness was something blindingly beautiful and bright, ready to shine through."
Where do I start with this beauty? It's been a couple days since I read this and I'm still tearing up at how insanely beautiful it was! This book takes the prize of being my favorite ending ever. That ending left such an unforgettable impression on me that no book has done so in the romance department lately. It was many times deep and heartbreaking, in the best way. Speaking plainly, it was beautiful.
This was my first read by Katana and I read it in one sitting. I admit, I made the mistake of letting the low ratings scare me. I usually never pay attention to them but for some reason this was an exception and I would like to say, I was worried for nothing. This is my first 5 star rating in a while and I would reread it again in a heartbeat. Which I sure will sometime in the future since this story resonated with me on so many different levels. I had a personal connection to the plot line that only multiplied as the story went on.
We follow Shelby, a 21 year-old student that has worked hard to get to where she's at financially. She's also dealing with some dark things, including ptsd. My heart went out for Shelby time and time again. Her story hit a little too close to home and it was hard for my heart not to break into pieces when she needed consoling and I couldn't provide it.
Then we have Tate, a rich boy whose father is the Governor and lives on the same building as Shelby. This book is the perfect example that wealth doesn't necessarily mean shallow, and boy does Tate prove that right. He ends up being one of the most tentative main love interests I've ever read about. He made my heart hurt for many different reasons than Shelby. He made it hurt from an overwhelming amount of admiration. (What can I do to meet a guy like Tate? Serious question.) He's thoughtful, sweet, kind, patient, caring, and so much more; I could seriously go on forever. Just when I thought he had already proved himself to be an amazing man, he made sure to show me that he still had room to be even greater. And that, is something I will never grow tired of.
The side characters, especially Shelby's two close friends, were amazing in their own right. I enjoyed witnessing the dynamic between them. It was obvious that they would do anything for each other and I couldn't be more proud of them.
The only thing I had a problem with was the fact that the attraction was established a little too suddenly. I would've like them to be in denial for a bit before shining a light on it. I don't know, it could just be me though. After I got over that small thing, the pace of their relationship was nothing short of perfect for me. With what they were each dealing with, it made sense that they would go slow.
This story was perfect amounts of steam and depth woven together to make a perfect love story. It made me cry with sympathy and happiness alike. And I'm not talking about just shedding tears, it was straight up ugly crying. All I have to say is that I can't wait to own this beauty and read more by Katana!! This is a must read and buy for sure!

“Was it possible to loathe something you wanted to lick so much?”

Shelby stays away from men. After a troubling incident in her youth, boys just aren’t on her radar. She is too strong, determined, and focused to need distractions. However, one look at Tate and those thoughts flew out the window.

“The flutters were like no other I’d experienced. I was far from a blushing virgin, but still, no man had been able to cause chill bumps to surface with just a look. Until now, apparently.”

Tate is the son of a governor. He’s wealthy, and is leery of any woman interested in him due to his ex. He doesn’t need someone after him for just his wealth. He is instantly attracted to Shelby and the fact that she is a challenge just turns him on more.

“Why did he have to be so nice? And yet, he was an asshole. Was there such a thing as a nice asshole?”

The two of them together were electric! Their chemistry sizzled off the pages of my kindle. But there was so much more to this story. I loved watched the two of them peel back layers and walls, and uncover the truth. There really was just so much more to this story that made me turn the pages faster.

I adored both Reagan and Harrison—two best friends that everybody needs! I loved the tutoring center. And that epilogue—perfection. I had tears of joy during the entire thing! This was my first book from Ms. Collins, but I will definitely be back for more. I would love a story about Reagan and Harrison! ~ Tiffany, 4 stars

I wasn’t sure when I started Blind Spot if I was going to be satisfied with this story. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to handle the “spoiled rich boy” theme that it started off with … If I was truly going to end up hating Tate … if my heart was truly going to break for Shelby.

Katana Collins did a wonderful job in getting me to have so many different feelings for all of the characters that she wrote that I can’t help but wonder why I haven’t read her before.

Tate did start off as a brat. Arrogant, rich, handsome … and knew it. After a bad break up with a woman who was after nothing but his trust-fund, he became the ultimate college playboy. Parties, woman and nothing but a good time. Meeting Shelby put a little wrench into his lifestyle. There was just something about her that drew him in and made him realize that he could love again. One stupid practical joke, one offer of a tutoring session and several boxes of croissant’s and éclair’s later and he’s got her. Now, to convince her that he can be trusted with her past and her future.

Shelby had a rough beginning in life and it hasn’t gotten easier for her. She’s finally able to move out of the dorms and into an apartment when she meets Tate. But, she knows he’s not for her … he’s everything that she has sworn to stay away from. She can get by in life with Rachel and Harrison by her side and not ever want to be with someone like Tate. She’s seen his type and what they can do to her life. But, he’s persistent and suave and eventually wears her down. She has to decide if she wants to let him in on all her secrets and if he can be trusted to hold her heart.

There were several scenes in this book where I just wanted to throw the Kindle and tell them both to grow up. Honestly, Tate totally surprised me. He started off a brat and just turned into one of the most loving, mature and romantic 21 year old that I have read in a long time. He was patient and kind, loving and caring, funny and serious. He knew when to back off and when to go forward. Then he messed it up only to have to go crawling back when he found out the truth. As for Selby, I did have a hard time totally committing to her. She was secretive and quirky. I totally get wanting to make it on your own and having difficulty explaining past heart-break but, she was a little over the top with it. In the end, when she was totally honest with him and her feelings, it worked out and Tate blew me away. I don’t think I have cheered for a hero over a heroine in a very long time.

The supporting characters were wonderful as well. I am hoping that Ms. Collins decides that Harrison really needs to pursue his feeling for Rachel and that Rachel finally opens her eyes to who is standing right beside her. The only ones I truly didn’t enjoy were Tate’s parents and their manipulative, ignorant and self-appreciating ways. Someone needs to teach those people how to trust and love.

In the end, I was more than satisfied with Blind Spot. In fact, the cougar in me came out and I was really in love with Tate and jealous that Shelby had all his attention. The story was crisp and clean, it just flowed off the pages. I wasn’t bored with any part and totally enjoyed getting to know all of them. Blind Spot was wonderfully written, had characters that you really enjoyed and told a beautiful story of love, trust and friendship.

When Shelby's mum died she had no-one left but her stepbrother Harrison and best friend Regan. Her stepfather feeling guilty gets her an apartment in a good part of the neighbourhood after making a call and getting her application bumped up the list. It's not big but for Shelby, it's perfect and it's hers. With her mother gone , reading this made me relate as she talks about missing her mother and how she wishes she could call her and with my mum being gone 2 1/2 years now I can relate to it as even now I wish I could talk to her and I miss her so much at times. Above Shelby, is trustfund baby Tatum aka Tate - his father is the Senator and he believes he is untouchable and all the girls want him - which they do because of his money but Shelby isn't like that and he wants her. I have to admit I really liked the character of Shelby and in a couple of ways I could strongly relate to her. She's one of those characters whom I wish I could be minus the bad past . As Tate and Shelby start to get to know one another , what will happen when he introduces her to his family and they see her as another gold-digger and unravel her past to Tate ? Will Tate end things knowing she isn't a trustfund baby ? Will he realise that love is more than monetary value and sometimes with the right person it doesn't mean anything to be rich or poor as long as you have one another ? Blind Spot by Katana Collins would have to be one of the better Entangled Publishing Books I have read in a while as though it had similar storylines to others , it just felt fresh with the characters and all the characters you could feel their emotions and envision that they were real and what they would be if they were people in your world.
I am looking forward to seeing what else Katana Collins brings to the world of publishing as I know this is one author I will be adding to my definite read-list.

This is a light and easy romance with a rich, trust fund male who is used to having everything he wants without any effort whilst she is an orphan who has to work hard for all her successes. Their insta-love/attraction leads to some misunderstandings but his patience and resilience make this an enjoyable read to escape into. She's been damaged both physically and emotionally by events from the past but he is willing to work hard to help her and to be patient to help her heal and trust again.

I enjoyed the repartee between the different characters. Shelby has two very close friends, they're her family now and very special to her - along with her Mum's old car, even if it does keep breaking down! Moving into her new one bedroom apartment in the secure block is a big move for Shelby. Initially she assumes that Tate is one of the guards on duty but soon finds out he actually owns the penthouse apartment above her own. Unfortunately she finds this out after calling the police in to get him to turn his music down! When he is given community service, working in the local tutor centre that means the two will be working together in the near future. Will they give in to their attraction or will her fears and reticence drive him away?

It is a story about not giving in to fears but working with others to help overcome them. It is about making changes of your own choosing to help make a successful new life for you and your partner. I had not read anything by this author previously and I will certainly look out for my about her in the future.

Starting her senior year of college, Shelby Stevens is finally moving out of the dorm and into a beautiful, modern, safe apartment building. She'd saved for years to be able to afford this move. And it hadn't been easy. After the recent death of her mother, Shelby has no family. And having come from a single parent home, no money. But she does have student loans and 2 dear friends. Two friends who are her rock and know all of her secrets. Most importantly, they know how her life changed after that horrible night. A night where she had been betrayed by someone she should have been able to trust. Since then, Shelby has worked to control her "attacks" but still suffers from loss and self doubt.
When she stumbles into who she assumes is the doorman, Shelby can't help but be drawn to the good looking, personable young man. After discovering he is not a doorman but a resident, Shelby assumes he must be the spoiled kid of affluent parents so she is determined to resist his charms. But he proves very hard to resist.
Tate Michaelson has had a pretty easy life. The son of the governor, he's never had to worry about finances. But that's all he's gotten from his parents. They were never attentive and only spent time with him if the press was around to photograph it. Still, he's never had to work hard for anything. Until Shelby. He thought she was beautiful. She may be wound a little too tight but he loved getting under her skin. When Shelby needs a French tutor to keep from losing her scholarship, Tate is more than happy to help. Shelby was different from any girl he knew. Especially different from his ex. There wasn't a deceitful bone in Shelby's body. When a college prank lands Tate with community service, he ends up working at the tutoring center where Shelby works. It's as if the fates are determined to throw these 2 together. But can their budding relationship stand up to the ghosts of their pasts and the differences between them.

What a great love story! Though very young, I found Tate and Shelby wise beyond their years. Shelby is a driven student. She's worked hard for everything she has. Having endured the things she has, trust is a problem for her. She has a very small group of friends who know her well and for her, friends are family. When she first meets Tate, she thinks he's pretty much an ass, but throughout their tutoring experiences, she sees what an attentive, nurturing, and playful person he is. As their romance develops, he makes her realize that she's tired of hiding from her feelings. Tate makes her want to try to work past her inhibitions.
Tate, though he had led a charmed life, was really a likeable guy. Despite the lack of love and affection from his parents, he had a positive approach to life and was a very patient and caring boyfriend. Though he didn't know exactly what had happened in Shelby's past, he knew she had demons. But he was willing to deal with the darkness because he knew there was something bright and beautiful beyond it. Most 21 year old guys would have never gone to the lengths Tate did to make Shelby feel comfortable.
Katana Collins writes heartwarming, sexy, contemporary romance. I love that many of her stories deal with real life issues and in a realistic way. Her books will pull at your heart strings, make you laugh, and steam you up. Her characters are authentic and her writing style is natural. If you love stories that pull you in, that you just can't put down, then Blind Spot is the book for you.

3 “French & Scars” Stars

ARC via NetGalley

Thank you, Entangled.

This book gave me one of those “it’s me, not you” moments, and that’s why I’m not rating it higher.

There’s nothing particularly wrong with it. Nothing I can point out as the reason why I didn’t fall madly in love with it. The writing is solid. The characters have good backstories. The sexy scenes are hot. The drama is there.

Still, I just couldn’t… connect, I guess, which makes this review much harder to write.

So, let’s start with the basics.

The story starts with Shelby, the MC, moving to her new apartment. She’s presented like this hard-working girl who lost her mother, has a scar that is the result of something mysterious and painful to relive, and has two best friends. Shelby’s new building is a place for the sons and daughters of the richest people around, but she managed to save enough money to pay for a tiny apartment there.

In my opinion, she has all traits I’d expect from a good heroine in NA contemporary romance – she’s down to earth, values work and money, has friends and has a past full of pain and drama.

So I did like Shelby. I didn’t connect with her enough to make me fall in love with her, but I didn’t dislike her either.

Then comes Tate, the rich bad-boy who lives on the top floor and throws loud, alcohol-sponsored parties. But there’s more to Tate than meets the eye. He’s the son of a governor, but he isn’t a total jerk living off his trust fund. He has a soft side, and that side comes to play as he gets closer to Shelby.

At first, Shelby tries to stay away from Tate and what he represents, but little by little he wins her over by showing her that he’s the kind of guy she can count on. And that’s exactly what Shelby needs at the moment.

As you can see, you have a little bit of the “hate to love” trope here. It isn’t as strong as I’ve seen in books like Elle Kennedy’s The Deal, but it was enough to make the story interesting in the beginning.

This story also focuses on Shelby dealing with the loss of her mother and with the consequences of a past trauma that prevents her from enjoying sexual activities the way other people her age do. I like how Tate plays into that and helps her get over that. He behaves in a way that shows me her truly cares for the girl. So, yeah, another plus for the story.

Tate also shows his good side when he tutors Shelby in French, a class she’s isn’t doing that great at. This allows them to spend more time together and have some very sexy conversation in French.

Like I said before, the sex scenes were hot, and there was enough chemistry between those two to make this a good NA story.
As you can see from this little review, Blind Spot has all the right elements for a new adult contemporary, so I was a little surprised that I didn’t like it as much as I expected to. And since I can’t really pinpoint what made me feel that way (or not feel the way I wanted), I’m putting this in the “reader’s problem” category.

If you’re into this type of books, I’d advise you to check it and see for yourself if your feelings will mirror mine or if you’ll love Tate and Shelby as much as they love each other.

Shelby has had a hard life. Which lead her to trust no one except her stepbrother and her best friend. She won't even accept the help of the police any longer. Now security is everything to her. When moving into her new building she is finally happy because it is the most secure building in the city. Ignoring the fact that the apparent doorman causes her to feel things she never had before or the fact that she will never be who she use to be. She thinks she may finally be moving on with her life. But just like life loves to do. Shelby is thrown a curveball in the form of the neighbor up stairs and the apparent interest of many guys around her.

Tate is use to getting things the easy way just like the blurb says. But what he never expected was the interest that comes when one women pays him no attention and wants nothing to do with him. Tate is willing to do a lot for her which makes him more interesting. Especially when he shows some jealous tendencies.

These two characters are great and when they get together they are amazing. I loved how Shelby tries to get beyond her past and the lengths that Tate and her friends go to help her. I absolutely hate Tate's parents but that is as to be expected due to their self involvment.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance that goes beyond the normal plot. And I definitely recommend the author because I loved her writing style of infusing the past and the present to make an all encompassing great read.

A sweet romance, that is an easy read, it is written well and the characters within the story are endearing and easy to love whilst reading.

The story focuses on how to survive loss, learning to trust again after suffering at the hands of authority and overcoming fear. Also having patience and understanding. Shelby and Tate the main characters in the book have to learn the balancing act and the banter as well as the misunderstandings they have is wonderful, whilst they stumble through their difficult pasts.

The writing is excellent and I found the plot wonderful with a few surprises along the way. It was simple to fall into and I was able to read this book within a day.

I would have loved to have learned a little more about Tate and his childhood and past relationship. And am hopeful that there maybe a sequel as there is room either for Tate and Shelby or for the supporting cast.

This will not be the last book I pick up by Katana Collins, looking forward to seeing what else is out there

I really enjoyed this one. While there isn't anything particularly spectacular about it, it does have a nice story with a very easy flow to it. The writing is excellent and the characters are interesting, it just didn't have that "awww" moment I needed to make this a 5 star read. Tate was great with Shelby though and I really appreciated how he didn't push her. Overall the book did keep me entertained and I would definitely recommend it.

Tate is the typical trust fund kid. Floating through college without any real purpose, partying a bit to much, and generally not taking anything to seriously. Shelby on the other hand has had to work for everything her whole life and no matter what life has dealt her, she keeps pushing forward. It's no wonder their first meeting isn't that pleasant but there is something about Shelby that keeps Tate coming back. She might be the first thing he's ever had to work for and he doesn't plan to lose.

I don't really know what to say about this book. There was nothing really wrong with it, I just wasn't wowed by it. The storyline felt familiar with the damaged leading lady having a hard time letting the leading man into her life. From the description, I had envisioned Tate as more of a bad boy but he was kind of a softie. I also didn't expect Shelby to cave as quickly as she did. So that was a little disappointing for me.

I could see their misunderstandings coming from a mile away and perhaps that was my issue. It felt a little too predictable for me. Regardless, this was an easy read with an epilogue that I thoroughly enjoyed (which I rarely ever say!).

I’ve been so unlucky with most of the books I’ve been requesting on NetGalley, as you might have been seeing on my reviews, that I went to this one with low expectations. Good thing I actually really liked this one and it was a pleasant surprise.
I have to admit that at the beginning I didn’t like the main character, Shelby, that much. For some reason I was having some problems with her but that changed at around 30% into the book. In the end I really liked her. Shelby is your typical character that went through a lot of stuff in her past. Having been through a lot she doesn’t trust that many people and she prefers to keep her group of friends small. While we don’t learn right away what happened to Shelby we still have a few glimpses that make us think what the hell happened to her and how bad was it. Then we have Tate. By the blurb you might think Tate is a bad boy. Well, he isn’t. Tate a sweetheart who really cares about the people he loves. He might come from a rich and powerful family but that doesn’t mean he never had his heart-broken. I loved Tate. He’s a great guy and he helped Shelby in a lot of things she had going one. Not only the characters were great but they also had an amazing chemistry. Their scenes together went from cute to hot to everything. I loved it. And don’t even make me talk about how cute the end was. I finished this book grinning like a fool.

One thing I loved in this book was that Harrison, Shelby’s best friend and practically brother, never looked at her as a possible love interest. I hate when sometimes in other books the male best friends ends up realizing that he has been in love for the girl just because she got a new boyfriend. I hate that and it looks like guys and girls can’t be friends without something happening between them when they can. I know for a matter of fact that you can have guy friends without having some kind of relationship with them so kudos to the author for not making Harrison a douchebag who only wants his best friend because she got a new boyfriend. Now can I have a book about Harrison or Reagan please?? Maybe one about the two of them. Something… I just want more books :P.
Not only I liked the story but I also liked the writing style a lot. The book flow super well and, once again, I loved that it had dual POV and that both voices were different. I have to tell you that sometimes the book was a little bit predictable but that didn’t changed how much I liked the story at all. Also, this book has some topics that might be a trigger for some people so if you don’t feel comfortable with reading about certain topics you should stay away from this one.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and it was a really good surprise for me. I really loved the romance between Shelby and Tate and I loved the story itself. If you love new adult romances you should give this one a try.

Sometimes you just need a good college romance to get your romance feelers satisfied. At least, sometimes I do. And Blind Spot by Katana Collins totally hit the spot for me. Blind Spot is a new adult college contemporary romance, and I really enjoyed it. I had a little snag with the plot details early on, but the characters more than made up for it. Overall, this was a satisfying romance for me.

Blind Spot is told in dual narrative between Shelby and Tate. Shelby is your classic stubbornly independent college girl. She falls into the new adult stereotype that I have seen a bit too much of. The, had a hard past, but determined to make it on your own- and stubborn to the point where you refuse to accept help of any kind from anyone. It is the last part of the stereotype that irks me. I get wanting to make it on your own. I really do, but being stubborn to a fault is something I could do with less of. Other than that Shelby is a really sweet girl. I totally get why Tate is so smitten with her. And I loved Tate. Yes, he is your classic rich boy used to getting what he wants no questions asked, but I didn't find him to be a jerk. He is a well rounded character that was really likable in my opinion.

And now for the snag. Shelby worked multiple jobs, and saved saved saved so she could finally afford her first apartment. Which is super awesome!! Except, her first apartment is on the 14th floor (of a 15 floor building) which just so happens to be the newest and safest building in Charleston. One where all of the "trust fund kids" live. She does say it is the smallest one bedroom in the building, but the smallest one bedroom would not be placed on the second best floor of the building and it certainly would not be cheap. I want to know just what kinds of big bucks jobs she is working because that apartment would cost a TON of money. It just bugged me because it seemed so far outside of the realm of possible. But it was a minor detail, and Blind Spot is so character driven, and the characters are done so well that I got over my frustration quickly as I became more immersed in the story.

Bottom line: If you are a fan of new adult college romances and you are a character driven reader, Blind Spot will be a good book for you to check out. The romance is great and the characters are my favorite part of the story. Overall, this was a good read.

This was a quick read and it wasn’t necessarily bad, but it also wasn’t necessarily good. The biggest problem I had with this is the lack of connection between Shelby and Tate. They fell for each other SUPER quickly (and by super, I mean SUPERRRRR) that I just couldn’t believe it.

“I didn’t want any of them, just Shelby. I shook myself out of it, It was the challenge, that was all. It had to be”

In the above passage, they have literally JUST met that day and has only had about 2 conversations and we’re supposed to believe he already feels like this??? I generally don’t have any problems with insta-love, but this was way too insta-love. Before you think that it’s just a one-sided insta-love, here’s Shelby a day after Tate’s comments!

“Something [in regards to his scent] that was entirely unique to Tate”

Again, they met 2 days ago but Shelby already knows Tate’s scent? what? It just doesn’t make sense, even in the fictional, romance book world.

All of that aside, it was a quick read and I wasn’t ever bored reading it.

This book was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review by the author.

The good:

This is a sweet, love story about overcoming fear and surviving all the loss and pain that life can throw in your lap.

From their sarcastic banter to their emotional hangups, Shelby and Tate are lovable characters, learning and growing beyond their opposite pasts.

I love that the author isn't afraid to touch on emotionally explosive topics and some of the "REAL life" consequences of dealing with and surviving PTSD.

Once I picked up this book, I couldn't put it down. It's a very quick read.

When I finished the last page, I desperately wanted to know, "What happens next?"
There's definitely room for a sequel with the supporting characters.
One can only hope.

The bad:

I felt like we were missing a part of Tate. As lovable as he is, it felt like we were missing so much of his story. How did he become such a decent guy with this piranha of a mother and turd of a father?

It was still a great read, I just need to know more.

Marie's Tempting Reads Netgalley ARC Review:

So emotional, so heart-achingly sexy and yet sweet with a hero I did NOT picture as a hero at first, and a young woman who has been through some serious stuff. I fell hard for Blind Spot and it was amazing with a roller coaster of emotions and a romance that was just my type.

The characters I found truly endearing. I loved how there was a unique quirkiness and irresistible charm to both our hero and heroine. And the plot, OMG how I LOOOOOVED the plot! I enjoyed this book very much. I giggled, I cried, I fell head over heels in L-O-V-E with our hero. I enjoyed how gentle, sweet, and absolutely charming he was with Shelby. This book fed ALL my needs and I can't wait to see what is next from Katana Collins!

Blind Spot gets an EMOTIONALLY CHARGED FOUR AND A HALF STARS! This book broke my heart, mended it back together, had me in tears, and yet was one of the BEST romances I have read in a long time. Definitely worth BUYING!

COPY RECEIVED FOR HONEST REVIEW
The best part of the book in my opinion is the characters. Shelby is a smart independent young lady. She is loyal to her friends. She does not have a lot of friends, she is kind of closed off. there are things in her past that explain why. She does not like to ask for or receive help. It was hard for her to ask Tate to help her with her french class. then there is Tate. I loved him. He had is issues and his insecurities but he was one of the sweetest heroes I have come across. In the beginning, you would think he was as spoiled little rich kid. As you got to know him, he was a really good guy. The time he put into getting to know Shelby is worth the read. He was burned before and sometimes his insecurities bled through to his relationship with Shelby. The big misunderstanding was a little underwhelming. The epilogue was great.

Blind Spot was not what I expected. Tate was more of a lost soul than a bad boy. Until meeting Shelby, his life was a piece of cake. Shelby taught him that the more effort you apply, the more precious the reward. Tate was Shelby's total opposite. She knew anything worth having was a fight to hold on to. Her life was full of turmoil and hurt. Her ability to trust is non-existent and her BS radar is permanently on high alert. Meeting Tate taught her that she was deserving of love and he brought back the hope that she had given up on due to her hard life. There was a learning curve for Shelby and Tate as gradually they built something special. It seemed to stall halfway through but still delivered a lovely read.

Four Beautiful Stars! Shelby has had a hard life and does not trust very easily. She thinks she is moving on with her life when she moves in the new apartment but then she sees Tate. Tate is used to getting things the easy way but that changes when he sees Shelby. Their attraction towards one another is palpable, but can Tate win Shelby over? The story is well written and the characters are great. I felt the different emotions these characters went through, there were moments when I was happy to moments when I was sad. This is a beautiful love story and I recommend that you get it now!

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.

ARC received for honest review

This book was just okay for me! Like I say MEH!! I enjoyed it but there was something lacking for me.
It was a bit draggy for me, and wanted to connect more with the characters, but just couldn't get there

I loved the cover and the blurb of the book but it just didn't live up to my expectation!

This was a quick read. It definitely wasn't a bad read, it was just more of a typical rich boy meets poor girl. He wants to change his ways just for her. She's damaged. He wants to fix her. They work through it together, suffer through a few miscommunications and voilà it's all back to roses and being in love. Shelby and Tate were a cute couple. Throw in some steam & you've got a light, easy read.

Wow, this book has so many different levels to it, by the time you get to the end, you better have a box of Kleenex waiting, because you’re going to need it.

Tate is the rich guy at school, Govenor’s son, is getting over a bad breakup with his ex fiancé who only wanted him for his money, so he’s totally the playboy now. He lives in an upscale apartment, penthouse of course, school comes easy to him as he enters his college senior year. Shelby is a hard working student who has recently lost her mother to cancer, but she’s finally saved enough money, and with the help of her two best friends, just happens to move into the same apartment building as Tate, only she has no intention on being a notch in his belt. Her tragic past prevents her from really having any serious relationships, so all she’s looking forward to is getting through her senior year so she can look forward to her future. Problem is, French stands in her way, and Tate just so happens to speak French fluently. This was an emotionally packed story, I loved how Tate wormed his way into Shelby’s heart, the chemistry between these two really jumps off the page at you, but Shelby’s tragic past is really quite heartbreaking which is a roadblock that these two keep hitting up against. Good thing Tate is persistent. I kid you not when I tell you that the ending snuck up on me, very emotional and given all the characters in the book have a role in it, really liked it a lot. Loved Buddy and Sophie, Tate’s parents were jerks, and Harrison and Reagan were the best best friends a girl could have.

Very well worth the read, definitely going to be reading more from this author! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

💕

I enjoyed the story and really loved Tate and Shelby. I would have loved to know more about their friends and what happened with Tate, Shelby and his parents, it kind of felt like I was missing some pieces. But overall a really enjoyable read.
