Mom of two rockin' girls, Reader of everything, Author of The Dragon Guards series and many more surprises to come!

I am a sarcastic, sometimes foul-mouthed, not afraid to drink a beer, always southern woman with 2 of the most amazing teenage daughters,
a menagerie of animals and a voracious appetite for reading who recently decided to write the storied running through her brain. I read my first book, Dr Suess' Cat in The Hat by myself at 4 and was hooked.
I believe a good book along with shoes, makeup and purses will never let a girl down and that all heroes of all the books
I have ever read or will ever write pale in comparison to my daddy! I am a sucker for a happy ending and love some hot sweaty sex with a healthy dose of romance.
I am still working on my story but believe it will contain all of the above with as much SPICE as I can work into it. CHEERS!

I absolutely love this series as far as I am concerned each one is better than the last. In this one our grumpy old mad dragon Maddox finds his love in the Grand Priestess Calysta. As an older person I was happy to read of an older couple getting together. Now I know the dragons are a century old but I meant Calysta being older.

Maddox called Doxie by his team and Maddy by his mate has a never seen softer side which Calysta brings out. He found his team mate Kyran but something is wrong with him. So this story tells of Kyran and what happened to him as well as the continued back story with the hunters.

If you love hunky dragons and discovering soft sides to grumpy mad ragons then this is the story for you. Fate cannot be denied and this story cannot fail to be enjoyed by all.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I also love this series so much that I pre ordered this one too.

I received ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love this series. I can't believe there are 15! Each and every one is unique. You fall in love with these beloved characters. Maddox is very old school and he's over 200 years old. Calysta is the Grand Priestess and what a pair! They totally belong together and they made me laugh and smile. Now this book comes more trouble. Tariq had children! Sick people! Adam and Eve...yeah so not good! Kyran was found but he's been messed with along with others by these siblings. Far worse than you can imagine. I really enjoyed the book and look forward as always til the next because Eve is still on the loose! I love their nicknames for each other so cute! Maddy and Callie. All swoony.

This book was very good & now I really have to catch up on the books in this series that I haven't read.

Calysta (Kyra's Mom) & Maddox's story started mostly after they mated the dragon way. Maddox (Doxie or Maddy) kept hearing Kyran's voice in his head & he was the only one; so he took it upon himself to try & rescue him. But nothing goes his way as Kyran captures him & ties him upside down & Kyran goes between knowing Maddox/Doxie & not knowing him. Kyran is one of the dragons that was with Drago & Kayne when they were captured long ago. Kyran is re-captured by one of the evil twins (called Adam & Eve); after Kyran was captured the other dragons came to save Maddox as he was hurt by Eve as she re-captured Kyran (& yes Calysta was pissed at Maddox for going on his own & then getting hurt).

After getting Maddox better & learning a little more about the mist that Eve used to capture Kyran & keep Maddox down Calysta decided to forgive him but only with the threat that if he ever did that again she would turn him into something worse than a toad.

Kyran came back & tried to kill Drago but Maddox saved the day & they got Kyran into one of their cells in order to contain him while they try to get the toxins out of his system & while a doctor from Max's group & Niall operate on Kyran the evil twins come back to try & kill or capture the dragons but only Eve escapes to live for possibility another book. & Kyran escapes after surgery but let's Maddox know & also tells him not to follow as he has somethings to take care of before he comes back.

Calysta & Maddox now have to have another mating ceremony in front of the witch council which they do & that's the end. This book contains a couple of explicit sex scenes, hot dragons, lots of witches/family members & a good vs bad plot. This was a very good story/book & now onto the next book to see who the guardian is.

Thank you Julia for again taking me into the Dragon Guard universe.

Whilst this did not flow like the previous stories you understand why once you have read the book.
If you have not kept up with this series I believe you will find this book hard to follow as it really is bringing so much together and aiming for the future of this series.
This series is really becoming something special, it has always been a good read but is becoming more than just an ordinary read.
In this story we have an older couple as the H’s which is lovely. The Grand Priestess Calysta is finally acknowledging that she is the mate of Maddox, whom the other guardsmen call The Mad Dragon.
Maddox, also known as The Keeper of the Ancients, is a lone dragon who lives up on the mountain, he prefers solitude and his own company, so to find himself with a mate at the grand old age of 220 is a total shock to his system. These two really are another powerhouse couple and with the way the series is going I believe they are going to be needed.
There is so much going on with matings and ceremonies happening which have to include some dusty old crone witches, the hunters attacking the Lair, Kyran the mystery dragon from the last book causing mayhem and attacking Drago.
You will just have to read this book to find out more.
I loved the camaraderie between Kyra, her mother Calysta and Della, Calysta’s sister but I do miss having all the other ladies not around.
Very interesting and clever how Ms Mills is bringing the younger, computer literate generation into the bigger picture to aid in the fight.
I get confused as to where we are sometimes, which Lair and with whom. Need a map. LOL

It's hard to believe this is book #15 of this marvelous series, and it just keeps getting better and better. Each story builds on the last and sets up the next, and the anticipation of what that future books contains is excruciating. Furthermore, Ms. Mills continues to introduce new characters and spotlight familiar ones and so the possibilities are endless.
I was pleased to have received an ARC in exchange for an honest review, and, as you can see, I finished it in a day. At no time did the story lag or become predictable, and it is a truly loving, joyous and exciting journey into the world of the Dragon Guard. I wholeheartedly recommend this book and series to all fans of paranormal romance. If you haven't started it, you owe it to yourself to start now. You will not be disappointed.

I really enjoyed this story, it's full of loving and action but it's as the author says, even though this could go as a stand-alone, it's best to have read the previous books in the series. I haven't read any of the previous books so I was a bit overwhelmed with all the characters. That said, this story makes me want to read all the previous books! lol

Calysta, a Grand Priestess, and Maddox, a dragon shifter, never have a dull moment in their lives, so many responsibilities at their feet. Being destined mates, together they face the danger that is ravaging their kind. Evil is in their midst and it must be stopped! I loved the way this author writes, I could picture it all in my mind as I was reading the words.

With the humour, the comradery, the action, the danger, the shifting and the love scenes made this story a very interesting one. Well worth the few hours spent reading it:)

This book was artfully crafted and uniquely designed to pull you into the pages where secrets and fairytales live and dreams come true for those who believe!

Maddox and Calysta's story is extraordinary, enchanting, enthralling and endlessly entertaining where stubbornness and determination to rise above conflict with a heart of gold and a core of steel to get to where love and happiness lives!

# 15

I was halfway through the first book when I realized I was in love with dragons. I'm finding I may have to purchase a third Kindle just for all things Dragon. Thank You Miss Mills for doing a great job of feeding my love of dragons. I have found a few other authors of Dragon stories but so far you are leading the way. Can't wait for # 16.

I liked the protagonists, I liked the humour in this story, at least most of the times, but the narration style threw me a bit - it was more like a summary, with some parts "fleshed" out a bit. The storyline seemed erratic (it was not, but I blame it on the narration).
In all fairness, the author herself warned that although these books are standalone, they are best read in chronological order - and oh! was she right. I always had the nagging feeling the I was missing something of the plot, or something which happened in the past and has bearing on this story.
Furthermore, I thought this was a shifter story, for me, that means that the protagonists do shift from time to time in the story; this did not happen here, at least not that I noticed. The only ones shifting were the ones the dragon clan tried to rescue.
On the whole, though I still liked the story, it is not something I personally would recommend further. Luckily, tastes are just that, very personal, and this is only my opinion.

If you've been following the Guardsman, then you know who Maddox is. What?!? Ok, brief lesson. He's the oldest, grumpiest of the Guardsman, that is until Calysta comes into his life. What can I say? Each of these stories get better and better and Julia Mills continues to weave us into a world she has created with such love and devotion, where Fate and the Universe will always have it's way. What a perfect match they've created with the oldest grumpiest dragon and a Grand Priestess. Imagine what happens when the phrase "set in their ways" gets put to the test. I just loved it.

Maddox was the grumpy and mad Dragon Guard who was content to live on his mountain but came down to protect his clan when he met Grand Priestess Calysta and felt the pull of a fated mate. He did his best to fight it but eventually just had to accept his fate. Can they combine their powerful magic and love and defeat the evil that is determined to destroy them?

This was a lovely story with combined love and affection with drama, danger and powerful magic. A great combination which created a great story. Very enjoyable, well written and easy to understand. Contains explicit sexual content.

I like that this one dealt with a more mature couple (and that is hard to do when everyone is over 100 years old). Since they had their mating ceremony off page I thought we'd escape that but no, they had to have a second mating ceremony, so slightly different but not enough. Same old love scene. I swear she could just leave them out and add a little more depth to the story. Alas, I don't see that happening as these are very formulaic. So it is either quit reading or quit complaining. Haven't decided which just yet.

A female witch and a male dragon shifter warrior!

A female witch is the high priestess of her coven. She has been through he'll over the years. She has been keeping a secret from her family and friends for years. A male dragon shifter warrior is called the mad dragon because of his grumpy attitude and the fact that he lived for years by himself when dragons are lent to want to be with their kind. You will have to read the book to find out what all happens to everyone. Happy reading!

INTERESTING SERIES, BUT BECAME REPETITIVE AFTER A FEW BOOKS
After reading a few of these, I decided to write one review for all of them. I found these books to be pretty good, if somewhat formulaic. If a reader is looking for a good story with some drama & where the main characters go through some terrible things, but ultimately end up together, I think they will enjoy this series of books. It is sometimes nice to read a "happily ever after" story.

Calysta is the Grand Priestess, the most magical Witch of her time, the Leader of her kind, and a survivor of torture who discovers her fated mate may just be the grumpiest dragon guardian out there. Mad Maddox is happiest living by himself in his mountain he has no clue what to do with a mate especially one as powerful as Calysta.
This entertaining read has them learning each other while fighting together. This story is filled with humor and love.

Finding his lost friend

Maddox and Calysta are getting ready for their marriage to be sanctioned by the Witches Council when the Mad Dragon as he's called starts hearing one of his lost dragon friends The Phantom Kyran. Readers should enjoy following the antics of Maddox as he tries to help his friend and tries to keep his mate happy at the same time fighting evil. I totally recommend this book and hope other readers enjoy it as much as I did.

Insight

Prior to this story, I only saw Calysta through her imprisonment and the eyes of her daughter. Here we meet and truly get to know her, what a nice surprise!
We are also treated to more insight into the dragons of Maddox's era and the loyal ties that not only still bind them together, but extend to the "present day " Guardsmen. Inspiring!

Mates

Maxom(( (the mad one) and Calista ( the high witch) ) . He does not want or need a mate at 250 years old. His fellow guardsmen try to tell him he cannot fight fate as they call old man. He sees how other mated couples act and want none of that. Great read and so much more happens.

Exciting

Always great but the excitement in this book was amazing. Julia kept the love but the fight scenes and the fact the villain is a woman makes it even better. She is so evil makes your blood boil.
