Rate this book
Emilia Walker wanted to be happy. Maybe she could have been a better student. Maybe she could have been the person her parents wanted her to be. Maybe Katie would have stuck around. But Emilia wasn't happy. And she didn't want to exist in this world anymore. Unfortunate circumstances bring Emilia to a campground in the middle of nowhere, where she meets many interesting people, including arrogant by likable Ned. The longer she's there she discovers whether or not this camp has the potential to help her decide that maybe life is worth living.

While I'm good with words from time to time, writing book reviews has never been a strong suit. I like to stay away from cliche things like "This book made me laugh, cry, beam from ear to ear" etc. The things is, all of this is true for That Place In-Between. It's been a long time since I've felt so absorbed in a story that I forget that I'm reading. Frequently I put a book down and contemplate what I've just read halfway through a chapter. For this, I'd easily read 75 pages without realizing it. I couldn't put it down (another cheesy phrase I try to stay away from). Everything about this book was witty, sarcastic, deep, and insightful. I loved the unique platform used to explore the world of mental illness and recovery. Truly a wonderful book that anyone should read, because if we're all being honest with ourselves, we've all struggled in exactly the same way as one of her characters.

This book offers a fresh perspective on life after death and how our choices affect not only us, but everyone around us. A combination of sharp, witty dialogue and tender moments will have you laughing and crying. An incredibly well written story. Once you pick it up you won't be able to put it down. If you, or anyone you know, has ever struggled with mental illness then this book is a must read.

This was a pleasant & charming read. I feel like it needed a sterner hand with the editing and there were definitely some pacing issues, but I liked the story and the ending made me smile. :)
