Prior to picking up this book I had never heard of the author Jonathan Green and what he is about, but if you are interested this book will definitely make up for that. The topic "Serve No Master: How to Escape the 9-5, Start Up an Online Business, Fire Your Boss" is one that has been covered before in other books, most notably in Tim Feriss' "The 4-Hour Workweek", but I'm always willing to read a book about somebody who has succeeded in a field where I'm meddling a bit myself.
The book consists of countless short chapters, many 1-2 pages, most of them seeming like a brainstorm of what the author wanted to get out of his system. After having made it through the first fifth of the book, I very nearly put it down for good because it seemed like a lot of rambling and very little that would interest me. It looked like one of those books that were created fast to be distributed and consumed equally fast as a door opener to sell product by an internet marketer.
However, I'm happy that I didn't completely give up on the book because as it progresses it becomes a lot more helpful and considerably more interesting, not to the level of delivering mind-blowing revelations, but it caused me to sit and think things through. Consider my options, next steps to take in my business ventures etc. When a book does that to you, it is not a waste of your time, in fact quite the opposite. Having finished the book, I compared my notes with those on various web-retailers, and I must admit that most of those that left those reviews definitely have been drinking the author's Kool Aid. I haven't, but I haven't regretted picking up the book.
