Making Things Happen: How to be an Effective Volunteer

Rate this book
Volunteerism is the backbone of the environmental movement. Unfortunately many volunteers are not as effective as they could be because they must perform jobs for which they have little or no training. Making Things Happen teaches volunteers the basic skills they need to make a stronger impact.

I enjoyed this book. I chose it because I serve as a director of a historcal society and wanted to learn how to do a better job. Wolfe provides a lot of useful advice, though this book is aimed more at environmental or public policy organizations. It is also a bit dated. I haven't looked to see if there is a newer edition available. It is written in a casual and easy style that is quickly read and understood.
I would recommend this book to anyone that volunteers for any type of non-profit.
