Chloe Tisdale is a fun-loving woman with a crappy job, no current prospects for romance, and the apparent inability to listen to instructions from demanding men. After a run-in with a creepy stalker, she heads for Imminence, Montana to hide out and party with her wild, foul-mouthed cousin. Conveniently for Chloe, her cousin's husband just happens to be the Sheriff of Bounty County. Unfortunately for Chloe, however, one of the Sheriff's deputies is the easy-on-the-eyes-but-incredibly-bossy Justin Hunt, who broke Chloe's heart into a thousand pieces just one year earlier. And unfortunately for everyone in Bounty County, Chloe's stalker follows her to Imminence. Despite dealing with commitment issues, when Justin learns of the danger that Chloe is in, he immediately steps in to protect her. Will sparks fly again? Will Justin learn to love? Can Chloe ever forgive him?

This book has a high heat index, contains adult themes, and is suitable only for 18+.

Ride-along is the first in the Bounty County series; each book in the series is stand-alone with an HEA ending, but characters and story lines for future books may be introduced, so the series is meant to be read in order.

...writing alpha males and women who refuse to put up with their shit...

Maren Lee is a former bartender, current mountain woman, and contemporary erotic romance author. Her first novel, Ride-along, was written on a dare and she loved doing it so much, she decided to write a whole series based on the Bounty County Sheriff's Department hotties. Maren has no plans to stop creating this world of small town hot alpha cops and the women who love them.

Maren lives in the tiny mountain town of Atlanta, Idaho with her husband, two dog children, and two weird-ass cats. She loves all things outdoors, reading romance novels, and drinking wine (not necessarily in that order).

Good start to this series!

I really enjoyed reading this book. I love the characters and how they interacted with each other. I did feel that she should've let him grovel for a bit before she gave him a chance because he really hurt her the previous summer.

I'm excited to read the next book with Lane and Jared.

Justin and Chloe had a bit of a relationship in the past, but when things got serious Justin ran away. Chloe was hurt, so she left town, and has held a bit of a grudge ever since. Getting into the Tinder game so that she could get over Justin. Unfortunately things didn't go so well with that, because all she found were creepers and sleeve balls.

Chloe is back in town to see her family and of course the first person she runs into is Justin. Their physical attraction is through the roof, but Chloe can't stand him and Justin can't stand her. The sexual tension is through the roof, and their banter is actually pretty funny at times.

For being Maren Lee's first book this is really well written. I did notice a few typos, but it didn't take away from the story for me. I felt like the story flowed pretty well and it kept me interested. There is a bit of mystery, and I wanted to find out what was actually going on. I think she did a good job planting the little clues, and even throwing in a bit of a red herring.

There are plenty of naughty scenes and they are all pretty hot. I took away a star because of one of them, and it was because I just didn't feel like it flowed. It might work for others though, it just missed the mark for me. Especially if a participant gets his own book... It's just kind of a turn off for me, but that's just ONE opinion!

Speaking on that I really liked the side characters. Brenden and Sierra were an established couple that we didn't get a ton of together, but I did like their dynamic. Jake and Lane... Holy fire. They need their own book like yesterday. I loved the epilogue and needed more. Gosh those two. I liked Connor for 4 seconds, but he ruined himself for me.... Turd burger!

All in all a good read! It has romance, naughty bits, and comedy. There's also a bit of suspense and mystery. It's not super overwhelming, but it's there. I'd recommend to anyone who loves a HEA set in the country, with a cop alpha male and a sassy heroine.

I just couldn't make this one work for me, not for lack of trying, I went back to this for days. Not enjoyable at all, with editing issues and the format was distracting. I liked the premise of a stalker but the story was very choppy and all over the place. And the added threesome... why? it felt like it was just shoved in there for no reason, and then you have the hero who suggested it (with his buddy, who he had earlier insisted he would not allow him to touch the heroine but then arranges the threesome... soo..... ) then getting pissed at the buddy for calling the heroine darling, but doesn't mind the buddy sticking his dick in her... okkkkay then. The reactions were all wrong and over the top throughout with all the characters.

Baby, babe, sweetheart, baby doll, honey, darlin', Please, for the love of Zeus just choose one endearment for your heroine and stick to it. There was often multiple names in the same paragraph. Another distraction.

WOW this first book from this author is fabulous. I loved that each character and how quick whit they each can be. Loved how Chloe can stand up for herself and not let Justin use his power to go all alpha on her. Justin is such a strong alpha male that has this huge heart. What made this book stand out for me is- yes this is erotic and sexy as hell, but the suspense and plot had me constantly guessing and turning the page till the very end. Maren Lee hit it out of the park for her first book in this series. I cannot wait for book two to come out.

I really liked this book and was the perfect way to spend a few nights. Maren did an awesome job keeping wanting to know what was going to happen next and setting up for the next book in the series. Hot sex, made me laugh at some points, all and all and enjoyable read, can't wait for Changing Lanes!

My first read by Maren Lee and the story had plenty of great scenes. Chloe and Justin had a falling out a year ago and when Chloe comes into town to see her sister, Justin immediately gets possessive. Chloe also came to Bounty County to escape the stress of situation at home that ends up following her and provides plenty of suspense in between her teasing Justin and pushing her own boundaries. The character development of Justin hit home for me with a once broken heart and whether he could ever truly get beyond it. Chloe learning whether or not he was serious about her is a concern dealt with well while building the heat and suspense throughout the story.

This was a great first read for me by this author. There was suspense and it is known. You know it's going to happen and you know it's going to be bad.
Chloe is unsure what to do with her life. She had so much going on and coming to visit family just leads to a whirlwind two weeks.
Justin is chicken plain and simple. When the push comes to shove he has a choice to make. He is the complete alpha cop but Chloe slowly melts his hardened shell away to reveal the softer side of this overprotective brute.
I'm interested in the second story because I hated Jake. He burned me the wrong way and I know that makes a great writer. When I get passionate in my feelings about the characters it makes the story more enjoyable.
These main characters are in their thirties and I liked that. It was relatable even the occasional drunken night. Most of the others are in their twenties to thirties which goes well with the story. The way the LEO's are was funny and accurate.
Cannot wait for the second in line. If you like hot steamy cop stories then I recommend this tale to you. It is a quick instalove but I didn't mind it in the least.

4.5 Stars!!!! to "Ride-along" by author Maren Lee!

First I'm going to assume that this is the first book by this author as I haven't seen any other books listed on Goodreads. That being said, I loved it! The writing was well done. Maren's characters were sexy and witty with realistic and sometimes outrageous dialogue. I laughed often at some of the things that came out of there mouths. Filters? Nope! The pace of the story was fairly steady with just a bit of a drag in the beginning pages. There was suspense going on throughout the entire book in the way of a psychopathic stalker. Our couple, Justin and Chloe, had a lot of alone time drawing them emotionally closer despite the fact they insisted on keeping things casual. In fact, they were rarely apart. I would have liked a break from their togetherness now and then, hoping for more stalker action which basically stayed in the background until the last 20% or so of the book. Hey, not complaining, just stating. But when that plot headed to its turning point? I couldn't sit still! Wow! As I read I became frantic and panicked as badly as Justin. And that was bad! I loved seeing Justin's reaction to the danger Chloe was in. He was a mess. And if I doubted his love for Chloe, his reactions totally proved me wrong. Truthfully this was my favorite part of the book and that says a lot because I loved "Ride-along!" Have I read this trope before? Yes, many times. However this book was hands down the best I've read in a while. I know we all have that author where their style appeals to each of us. And we don't all have the same opinions. But Maren Lee had me enthralled. That being said, you may be wondering why I only awarded 4.5 out of 5 stars? There were quite a few editing errors. :( There were enough that my reading paused several time to re-read sentences interrupting the flow. So that's my only complaint.

Chloe Tisdale was a likable character. She was intelligent, sexy, impulsive and had no problems saying things that would have most of us blushing. However, she was a bit immature a times. Chloe did a poor job with taking her own safety seriously and as a result she made some poor choices. Chloe and Justin had history. One year prior he broke her heart. Crushed it! I wish Chloe would have made Justin work a little harder for her attention. I love a groveling Hero.

Justin was written well. OMG, he was a hot cop with a perfect physic and such a dirty talker. What a panty melter! From the first pages I knew he was book boyfriend material. Okay. Now I have to admit to one tiny thing about him that had me occasionally frowning. I like dominance in my heroes but Justin was downright bossy sometimes.

Justin and Chloe took insta-lust to sexy, sensual level. They could not keep their hands off each other. It may have started as lust but there was a base for more and I loved watching their lust turn into love. Especially with Justin.

There were secondary characters that I loved. As a matter of fact, I believe Jake and Lane's story is in the works. Yea!

Maren, if you ever read this review, I'd like to ask you if there is a possibility for a prequel? I would love to read Sierra and Brandon's story. I loved those two. Sierra is outrageous!

I definitely have this author on my watch list!

Book 1 in the Bounty County Series.
Author's debut novel.
Full length book.
Can be read as a standalone, but other characters for the rest of the series are introduced and involved so it's best read together and in order.
Written from dual POV.

Omg...I loved this!!! Definitely a MUST READ BOOK!!

Justin and Chloe's story has a little bit of everything in it: heartbreak, anger, second chances, romance, high heat level, laughter, love, suspense, drama, fear, and loads of emotions!!! I absolutely loved the chemistry between the main characters, and also between them and the other characters too! They are all so down to earth and are people I could see myself hanging out with and having a blast! Felt like you were right there in the story, living every second of it and loving it! I laughed, I cried, I bit my nails, I had to fan my face numerous times to cool down, and it was really hard to stop reading it!

An amazing debut novel for this author! I LOVE me some Justin!! But I will say this—thank goodness Book 2 of the series, Changing Lanes, just released this month because I'm about to dive into Jake and Lane's book right now and I can't wait!! :)

DNF at 15%- I'm really surprised this book is rated so highly. The writing seemed very amateurish to me. I tried lightly skimming after the 15% mark and can confirm, the writing doesn't get better.

I received an ARC for book three of the Bounty County Series by Maren Lee and figured it as about time I read book 1 & 2.

I just devoured book 1 almost in one sitting. This book was funny, and sad, and scary and funny again. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these characters! Usually I have a hard time remembering characters names, basically because the story is more important. You know, what happens to the characters just not the characters themselves. I can honestly say these characters have made an impact on me, which makes them hard to forget.

This firs book starts with Chloe coming to Montana from Utah for her cousins birthday party. She knows she's going to run into Justin at the party. She's trying to get away from a stalker and take a moment to really figure out her next step in life. After spending her 20's taking care of her grandmother, she's now only 6 credits away from graduating college with an accounting degree with a job already lined up. Too bad she isn't ecstatic at those prospects. Last summer she fell hard for Justin. Unfortunate , Justin wasn't ready. So he F'ed it up and sent Chloe back to Utah. Now they have a second chance and Justin's finally ready to recover from his heart break.

So we have a second chance at love, for both of these characters with the danger element due to the crazy stalker, but then you have the other Bounty County Sheriff Deputies along with the girls like Lane (the hot Defense Attorney) which make for some interesting conversations and situations. I Love how we get to meet so many incredible characters that eventually get their own books. Like Jake and Lane who get their story in book 2.

I loved every second of this book! I'm kicking myself for taking this long before meeting everyone in Bounty County. This book is book 1 but I highly recommend reading them in order to gain all the insight into the relationships that progress after this book. And fair warning, the sex scenes are H-O-T!!! Have a glass of ice water near by ;)

I first saw this author on Facebook. I had never seen her name before. I'm not sure what rock I was under because she is AMAZING. I love second chance, hot, suspenseful, romance and this was book did not disappoint. I also, found myself laughing. The Police Departments motto was hysterical. (You’ll have to read to find out).

I love the chemistry between Chloe & Justin. They are like magnets that can’t stay away from each other. The way this story is written it keeps you wanting more. I just wanted to “read 1 more chapter”. I had a really hard time putting this book down. And book two, Changing Lanes, YUP read that too. Can’t wait for book 3.

Maren Lee, THANK YOU for showing up in my Facebook Feeds. Thank you for such amazing characters and story lines. I can’t wait for more. I am definitely a fan for life.

The story is creative and entertaining. The sexiness factor is off the charts. Less than stellar editing is why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Ride-along is book #1 in the Bounty County series, which takes place in the small town of Imminence, Montana. Ride-along is an interesting mix of very steamy sexy times and suspense. Although I had a few issues with the editing and character development, overall I thought this was a pretty fun read.

Chloe's going through a rough patch. Her heart was broken a year ago by Justin, who declared that he wasn't the right man for her, despite their mutual feelings for each other. In an attempt to get back into the dating scene, Chloe tries online dating but runs into some very bad luck when one of her matches turns out to be a crazy stalker. Chloe temporarily escapes to Imminence, where her cousin lives. It's also where Justin lives and works as a deputy sheriff.

When Chloe and Justin run into each other again, it's obvious that they both still have a strong attraction to each other. But Chloe is hesitant to get involved again after what happened between them. It turns out that Justin has some past heartache of his own, which is why he's so phobic of commitment. But now that Chloe is back in his life, he needs to have her, one way or another.

The two agree on a casual arrangement, which works out fine for the meantime. When a third person is introduced into the bedroom, it soon becomes clear that Chloe and Justin want more from each other than just sex.

Meanwhile, Chloe's stalker is still on the loose. When the stalker shows up in Imminence, Justin wants nothing more than to keep Chloe safe. I loved how protective Justin is, but Chloe shows some poor judgment at times when she doesn't seem to understand how much danger she's really in. Likewise, Justin doesn't seem to make the best choices when it comes to communicating with Chloe. She's in real danger and I think they both could have handled the situation better.

That being said, the romance elements definitely worked for me. Since Chloe and Justin have history together, I found their reunion convincing since it was clear they had unfinished business. There is one menage scene which is super hot, but I had mixed feelings about it since Chloe didn't have an established relationship with the other guy, especially considering she'd never done anything like this before. However, the scene served to expose Justin's true feelings about Chloe, so in that sense, it definitely worked.

Additionally, I felt that Chloe's cousin and her husband were well developed as characters, to the point where I found myself wishing I could read a prequel about their romance.

Lastly, I ran across some editing issues (typos and general grammatical things), but nothing so extreme that I couldn't easily overlook them and finish reading the book.

I'd recommend Ride-along to fans of Lorelei James (for the high heat level as well as the western setting). Overall, I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading the next book in the Bounty County series.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my review.

Ride-along was phenomenal! I started reading my ARC on the afternoon of the 28th and I couldn't put it down until early in the morning of the 29th. Im the type of reader who picks up a book and after the first few pages of I'm not hooked I put it down. I was hooked on the first page! The story has suspense, heat, humor and drama to meet any of my fellow smut lovers' standards!
When it comes to contemporary romance I like a more realistic dialogue between the characters and this book met my expectations, I was able to relate and could see myself and my husband having these same interactions. Justin and Chloe's relationship and interaction was extremely relatable and easy to buy into, making this the type of book a binge reader like myself craves.
The heat, passion, and tension between the characters is constant throughout the novel. In my opinion some contemporary romance novels tend to be overloaded with too much sex and unrealistic scenarios, not Ride-along! There was plenty of smoking hot scenes between Justin and Chloe to keep me entertained and a great story line I between these scenes to keep me reading.
The suspense in this book kept me on the edge of my seat anytime the stalker was brought up, Justin does his best to keep Chloe safe and secure from harm, but unfortunately Justin can't control everything. (Even though he wants to)
I would read this book again and put it in my kindle collection of must read again and loan it out to friends who also love a good romance with a (spoiler alert!) happily ever after ending! I can't wait to have my final copy downloaded on my kindle at midnight tonight so I can share the book with my fellow book lover friends! I would highly recommend reading Ride-along!

I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I read heavy crap all day long at work, so I am a "beach reader" in my off time. I enjoy humorous romance novels with strong female characters and almost-but-not-quite-asshole hot guys as my protagonists. This book did not disappoint!

Chloe Tisdale is kind of a mess. She met Sheriff Deputy Justin Hunt in Montana a year ago while she was in town for her cousin's birthday. He broke her heart, so she went back to Utah. Not going to sugar coat it, but she turned into a bit of a Tinder-whore (not that there's anything wrong with it) in order to forget him. Unfortunately during that time, she also picked up a creepy stalker. Perfect timing -- it's her cousin Sierra's (who is hilarious!) birthday again -- so she heads back to Montana to escape. Thankfully Sierra's hubby is the Sheriff of the county. But wouldn't you know it...she gets pulled over on her way into town...by Justin. They are clearly still attracted to each other. (WHEW!)

What follows is hilarious, romantic, HOTT, sexy, fun, and freakin' scary in some parts! But you won't be disappointed. Definitely HEA. Definitely high heat. Just do a word search for naughty words and you'll find what you're looking for! ;) Lots of cursing if you're turned off by that, though. But it's kind of my second language, so I loved it.

It's a fun story and a fast read and I have to say I CANNOT WAIT for Bounty County #2. Jake and Lane both captured my heart. This looks like it's gonna be a great series!!!

I didn't like this book..... I loved it. I was hooked from the first chapter I read. I thought it was really unique. The characters and story line were great and everything flowed just right. There were a few mistakes but it didn't really bother me or affected the story. I really liked the mystery and angst that Maren added. And I think for it being her first book she did an excellent job.

Jake Hamilton. Or should I say Corporal Hamilton. My God that man. Perfection. He was a fool for leaving Chloe a year ago but with a girl like Chloe she didn't make it easy for him which served him right. Their chemistry was great in and and out of the bed. Like I don't know how many times they went at it lol. But that was ok it didn't bother me.

We also meet Lane and Jake. Which I instantly fell in love with. Like I want their book NOW. I thought they were really interesting and I bet their story is a good one.

As a first book in a series it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. A lot of room for improvement for sure. It felt choppy in places and there was plots I didn't really care for. I'm in the minority and some books work best for others, but I will definitely give the rest of the series a try. I find every book improves as a series goes along and I want to see what else this new to me author has.
