FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN ARC FROM THE AUTHOR. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!
I've read several of this author's contemporary works, so when I found out that she had written a romantic suspense novel, I was quite eager to read it! It didn't quite live up to my expectations though.
I loved the realism of how Dani and Kade met! I could totally see it happening at any point in my own! However, while the relationship seemed to move quickly, the first part of the book moved at a snail's pace! I really had to force myself to keep going with it! The suspense angle was rather cliché and easily figured out, but as things picked up with that thread in the plot, the pacing of the book also improved, and I found myself more engrossed in the story.
The book also dealt with a very Sensitive Situation...one that rather blindsided me. As a survivor of rape myself, I tend to appreciate a little warning that something of that nature is included in the book. A "personal tragedy" mentioned in the back blurb does not work as sufficient warning to those sensitive to rape issues!
For me, this was a decent enough read. Definitely worth reading once, but I'm not sure it's worth more than one read.
Waypoint by Heather Tullis is well written book about Dani and Kade and the start of their fairytale relationship until things start happening that leads them on a ride they never saw coming...mystery, romance, estranged family, sensitive situations, suspense that will keep you reading and saying just one more page.....
Dani and Kade seem the perfect couple with the cutest story of how they met each other.
Both have things in their pasts regarding their families that they aren't quite ready to share, but all these "secrets" come crashing out after Dani's vicious attack and the events that follow.
Their circumstances change dramatically after Dani's health changes, bringing her life in danger whilst sinister, possibly dangerous elements force Kade to re-unite with his family, and him and Dani move back to his childhood home.
Will their newly found love survive these challenges?
Will they survive the events facing them?
To be honest though the story dragged a bit in the beginning. I kept waiting for The Moment. Although for me The Moment arrived closer to the end, it was a huge AHA moment linking all the bad luck thrown in Dani & Kade's lives, and the story moved with breakneck speed forward.
I enjoyed "Waypoint" especially with the focus on rape and the aftermath of it - a gritty topic and not the usual "fluffy" approach to a romance novel.
When Dani and Kade meet at the beginning of the book and have what seems a fairy tale romance, you know that it's too good to be true. But even though many events in this book threaten to hurt them or tear them apart they stay strong in their relationship and balance each other out very nicely. There were parts of this book that were a little harder to read, due to sensitive situations, but I felt the author handled it tactfully and the story was very cleverly written. Not only is this book a sweet romance, it is also very suspenseful. When it seems someone is out to get them and Kade's family, you are left wondering who is responsible and when will they strike again? Although I figured out early on who the "bad guy" was, it still had many surprises. I really enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down. This is for anyone who enjoys a good romantic mystery.
Waypoint is more of a mystery/romance than what Heather Tullis typically writes. Dani is a cosmetologist & Kade works for a boat manufacturer. The beginning starts like something out of a fairytale. Dani goes to see a movie & Kade sits in the seat next to here. They talk & end up going for ice cream after the movie. They discover similar interests & have an instant chemistry. Then things begin to happen... Dani is attacked, Kade’s dad has health issues, someone is embezzling at the shop, & it goes on. Are they all related?
This book was very different from the other books I have read by Heather Tullis. It was suspenseful, romantic, and very well written. There is a rape that occurs in the story but it was handled very well and was not graphic. I really liked the characters. I loved Dani's strong personality. I loved Kade's kind, understanding patience. I had the bad guy figured out before he was revealed but I still enjoyed the story.
Waypoint is a clean and wholesome inspirational mystery. Dani and Kyle have a growing relationship. When an accident happens, Kyle goes back to help with the family business. Then he discovers that someone is trying to sabotage his family. Will they succeed? This story kept me hooked from the start. Definitely one to get lost in!
I enjoyed this book even though it dealt with some tough topics. I liked how Kade stuck by Dani through everything. Kade almost felt too good to be true. The book has intrigue that keeps the reader trying to figure out who is causing the trouble Kade and his family is experiencing.
This was my favorite Heather Tullis book I’ve read. Dani and Kade’s story will keep you glued to your book. It has everything you want in a story romance, intrigue, obstacles, triumphs, and happy endings. I received this book as an arc. I voluntarily give my review.
A well written story that takes you into the life of two people that just want to be happy together. Life doesn’t seem to work in their favour. Certain forces seem to be against them, trying to keep them apart. I had to binge read.
I loved this story! All of the characters were great. I loved the mystery, the suspense and the clean romance. This couple had such great chemistry! I can't wait to read more from this author.
This book could be triggering for some as it talks about rape. But I liked how she took the characters and showed how they persevered and after everything that happened could still find love.

This book is a cute love story. I love the way that Dani and Kade meet at an evening showing of an old movie that they both love. And then, their love starts to grow bit by bit a little more each and every day. I love that part of the story.
I love that even though Dani goes through a really hard spot, and ends up pregnant with another man's child, their love continues to grow and they just work together. I love that Dani defines Kade as her "Waypoint," the point that her life is always headed toward. Isn't that a beautiful thought and isn't that how our lives should be, constantly moving toward our spouses as our own Waypoint? I love that thought!
Kade's family life was kind of a mess before he met Dani and their getting married didn't really fix that. He's still estranged from his family because his Dad is kind of stubborn and refuses to allow Kade to fix what's wrong between them. But when his dad is injured, he needs Kade and has to swallow his pride to not only allow Kade back into his business life, but Kade and Dani move into his home as well.
I loved that this is at it's heart a love story, but there really is so much more to it than that. It's a story of family ties, of love and forgiveness even when someone has hurt you so badly. This is a cute book that I loved reading!
I was sent an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
