This is going to be a brutally honest review on my part - Sadly I didn't enjoy this book and here is why.
I think this is the third book by author A.C. Katt that I have read and I probably won't be reading anymore, I just can't get into her books. This is a story about a twenty-something young man who is working at the Sunset Club, a prestige gay club - and taking care if his mom who is sick with Leukemia. Grayson Grey - he thinks of himself as just average, blending into the background - his name is perfect for him. Then there is Enzo Del Monte, brilliant engineer and multimillionaire owner of research and design companies along with being on the board of many companies. Enzo noticed Gray at his friends engagement party, but he was told Gray was engaged so he pursued other men. Turns out - Gray was not engaged nor was he involved with anyone and he has had a secret crush on Enzo for months.
You can see where this is going, right? Both men wanted each other yet for reasons of their own they didn't approach each other until the all clear was given. Then Enzo was on Gray like a moth to a flame. There really wasn't any romance in the story. It was almost like a retelling of something after it happened, with scene breaks highlighted by location and date - I felt like I was in a true crime show rather than reading a romance novel.
However, even with all that... I still felt like the book was half written. It jumped around too much and had too many little subplots going on with Enzo this all mighty powerful man who can make magic happen and Gray goes from surviving on his own for 7 years to a blubbering mess with no spine. Again, huge lack of passion so if you are looking for hot man on man action - skip this one.
Overall - 2.5 stars - this book could be much better if it was fully developed...it seems incomplete to me.

Gray considers himself average in looks and temperament, completely overlooked by others because of that. He's been crushing on handsome billionaire, Enzo Del Monte, from the moment he first saw him, but there's no way Enzo would ever look twice at Gray, especially since he's been paying lots of attention to Mike, one of Gray's coworkers, who only wants Enzo for his money.
Unbeknownst to him, Enzo Del Monte has been looking at Gray for a long time and it's only because Mike told him that Gray was engaged to be married, that he didn't try to date him before. When Gray comes clean to his boss regarding Mike's real motives for getting close to Enzo, they discover Mike's tangled web of lies. But there might be more problems lurking on the horizon for Enzo and Gray before they find their HEA.
I really wanted to love this book. I liked the cover and loved the blurb, but somehow, it didn't quite meet my expectations. I couldn't shake the feeling that Enzo treated Gray like a little kid sometimes, for example, helping him put on his seatbelt or asking him not to forget his sweater or even taking over Gray's mother's treatment and moving them into Enzo's house. Rather than feeling like he was caring for Gray, I felt his behavior was more than a bit overbearing. For as independent and used to caring for his mother as Gray had been from a very early age, he just sat back and allowed Enzo to just take over his life and do as he saw fit. That's not my idea of being partners with someone.
I enjoyed the first part of the book a whole lot more than the second. While there were a lot of characters in the first half and sometimes it was a bit overwhelming, at least things moved along at a good pace. Then the focus turned from Enzo and Gray towards Gray's mom's treatment and it completely took over the story. I didn't need to know every single detail of the treatment, and we're talking pages upon pages of it, if I want to know about that, I can research it online and not have it take over a book in the way it did. The secondary 'mystery' plotline with Gray's father was also unnecessary in my opinion and it just made me dislike Gray's mom even more when I saw her trying to protect the creep and not the son who'd turned his life upside down to take care of her.
Perhaps some might like the book, maybe even love it, and it's not that it's badly written, it just wasn't for me and I'm very sorry to say I just can't recommend it.

This story has angst and upset like the other books in this series but still comes off as such a sweet love story. Enzo is wired to care and protect. His hardest job is finding a way to do so without taking away Gray's need for independence and pride. Both are remarkable men in their own ways. PS I hope Luigi get's his chance at love.

Great read
What I love about this author is the chance to see a broad range of different characters and personalities.
Plus the tie in from her other series Indiscreet.
I can not wait to see her next book in the Manhattan werewolf series and Luigi's soul mate.

Reviewed on behalf of “2 Girls Who Love Books Blog.” This is book 5 in The Sunset Club series although it can be read as a stand alone. I had not read the first 4 books before reading this one and that may have impacted my experience as I was not invested in the characters or the series from the start. I did not find the main characters in this book to be extraordinary by any means, they were average, and thus, I did not fall in love with them or this story.
This book contains most of the characters that were introduced in previous books and they all appear to have had some major drama happen in their lives. Since I was not up to speed on the characters or their lives, I found it difficult to follow along in the beginning to so many characters and keeping track of their relationship to each other. The author does try to give us some background info on the other characters, which I felt was unnecessary to a point, but this book just had way too many secondary characters to follow along with. Had I read books 1-4, I may have been glad to see these characters reappearing, but since I hadn’t, I didn’t feel most of them added anything substantial to this book.
This book is about a gay man who believes he blends into his surroundings and remains somewhat hidden because he is ‘average’. I have to agree. Grayson Grey was just your typical man, working in a bar, who had real life troubles. Throughout this book, I felt like I was being told someone’s life story but I never felt like I was being shown.
I did not feel that this book really had a specific climax to it or any real drama and even the plot kept changing. I was never compelled to dive into the next chapter to see what would happen next. It story was basically divided into 3 parts: the beginning with the revelation of a fraudster in their midst, the quick development of the relationship between Gray and Enzo, and lastly the medical treatment of Gray’s cancer stricken mother. The characters and their actions were not very believable either. First, the main characters Gray and Enzo stay away from each other out of respect and then when they find they could be together, they fall in love and agree to be married within 3 weeks. There was absolutely no relationship building, no romantic conquest even though Enzo constantly mentions how he wants to earn Gray’s trust and love and vows to spend his life to do this. How is it possible to devote your whole life to showing someone how much you love them after knowing them for such a short time.
The first half of this book is about how they meet and finally become a couple and the second half is mostly about Gray’s sick mother and her cancer treatments. There are finally some intimate scenes but nothing to write home about. I found that Enzo treated Gray like a fragile child and Gray just followed along like a little puppy dog. This story did not make be feel any emotional attachment to any of the characters. I never got to feel empathy, sympathy, anything actually for these characters. I feel like the author should have focused more on developing a relationship between the two characters instead of diving right into it and she should have left most of the cancer treatment chapters out. I feel like I am repeating myself but this story was like a monotone speaker – I kept waiting for the climax and the drama but it never came. The story stayed at ground zero throughout. Even the culmination – the wedding. No heartfelt vows, just the standard ‘do you take him to be your spouse’, GREAT – now you are married. This was an opportunity to show the readers how these two really felt but once again, a lost opportunity. Perhaps these two characters didn’t need their own story but if they were going to have one, it could have been a lot more exciting.
If you have been following these characters through the series, then this story may appeal to you, but I can’t recommend for anyone to start with Book 5. I would rate it at 2.5 *

Let me start by saying, this is book five in the series, and I definitely wouldn't recommend reading this book as a standalone. The previous characters had either a huge part in this story or they were mentioned/talked about constantly. I haven't read the other 4 books, and at times I was at a complete loss trying to keep up with everyone. I felt the secondary characters were too present in the story.
The blurb sounded so good, and the plot was interesting, but the execution failed. The book really isn't well-written. The first part of the story is told from the POV of a set of characters from one of the previous stories. I'm guessing the author tried to use them to set up the introduction into this newest book, but it was too much. We don't get to the MC's of THIS book POV's until the 10% mark. Continually this book focuses on other people. As I said, I understand this is the fifth book in the series, but a well-written story can work the previous characters in seamlessly. That wasn't the case with this story. The main focus should have been on Enzo and Gray, and until about 50%, it wasn't. The first portion paid too much attention to Gray's mother's illness, which took over the first half of the story. If the author wanted to tell her story, then write her story, but don't let it hijack Enzo and Gray's story! Her prognosis and treatment options are explained in far too much detail and it was taxing to read.
These characters repeated themselves over and over. If character "X" told a story to character "Y", then "Y" told "Z" the same story, we had to hear the whole thing repeated again. This was frustrating. Once I've read it, I don't need to read it 3 or 4 more times. This becomes just page fillers after a while.
Enzo and Gray were very likable characters as were most of the secondary characters, but when we finally get the book focused on them it moves at lightning speed. There was no build-up. No romance. The author needed to take more time with them as a couple.
