Colleen Helme is a USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, best known for her fast-paced, laugh-out-loud Shelby Nichols Adventure Series, where cozy mystery meets a dash of the paranormal. With over 19 books in the series and several more in her Sand and Shadow and the Love, Loyalty and Larceny series, she’s built a world in which readers love to escape.
Wonderful! Got this set as better value even though have book 1 already. Since the shooting nothing has been the same for her. Hitman, mob money and mobsters are now part of her normal life. Can she hide this from her family? Absolutely great read. Think this series is better than Stephanie Plum and it has more humour. Highly recommended
What a wonderful series. I was hooked in with the first book. Colleen Helme has such a great idea with her character Shelby being able to read peoples minds. It sure gives the reader something to think about how this ability could help but also harm. I know one thing for sure... I wish to read more from this author.
She's married with teens! She is learning to use her new psychic abilities, and has integrity. I hope she learn how to protect and defend herself. While I love Ramos, it would be great if she saved him once in awhile.
Ok! Here goes.. Again light reading after a couple of intense 📚. But there is always something u find that bugs u (me). After her 3rd of 4th highjinks her legs were wobbly, she needed to get her game face on but it is what it is. I would luv to meet Ramos!
OMG! Great heroine and I love all the characters in this series. Really love the fact that she is happily married and that the relationship, although it has its ups and downs, it’s been getting stronger. Read this, great plot, really good stories.
This is a fun series. The characters are funny and interesting. The only problem is anyone can guess how the story will end. But the books are well written and colourful.
This set was a good purchase! I will be reading all of the next ones. I live the characters and how Colleen Helme writes her inner dialogues. Glad to have found a new series with lots of books in it!
I really enjoyed this series, so much so that I read the first three books back to back before the boxed set came out. One of the many things I appreciated was the fact that the lead was happily married and her husband was part of all of the stories. The plotting was complex but not confusing. There were a couple of spots were the books bordered on the edge of "get real" like some cozy mysteries do, but I think the author pulled it off deftly. A hitman and a mafia boss would not normally be characters that I am attracted to but Colleen Helme has made me love everyone of Shelby’s people. In Carrots, Shelby never could she imagine something so insignificant as a stop at the grocery store for carrots could change her life drastically. As she checks out, the branch bank inside is robbed and she sees the robber's face so he shoots at her, grazing her head. When she wakes up, she can hear people's thoughts. While she is at the police station later for a line up, she hears a suspect think about where he hid stolen money. This could go so many directions, but not the kind of person who could let that go, Shelby gives the detective working with her a hint to where the money can be found. The lead is successful, her detective, buying her explanation that she has premonitions, becomes a believer. If Det. Harris was the only person she had to work with, her life would be complicated enough, but she accidentally exposes herself talent to the wrong person! Shelby could never imagine where that slip would lead her. Fast Money, the second in the Shelby Nichols adventures, is at least as good as the first. Shelby realizes that she isn't done with Uncle Joey when $5,000,000 shows up in her bank account, but when she goes to his office to confront him, she discovers that he and Ramos are still in Mexico where she can't get her hands on him. And something is a little off there. At home, lot of people are interested in her connection to the crime boss and it is making her life complicated. As if that isn't enough for anyone, she witnesses a professional hit in the courthouse when she goes to see if she can use her talent to help husband's current case. Needless to say, she isn't happy about it, but she may have to turn to Uncle Joey for help with the whole mess. Lie or Die, the third book in the Shelby Nichols Adventures, is even more exciting than the first two. She has officially set up her consulting business, but she doesn't suspect that one of her first customers will be her husband. Something isn't right in Uncle Joey's world and she knows she will be pulled in to help with that, but when there is an overlap between his problems and the threat against her husband, she steps up with no hesitation even in the face of personal danger. Humor makes the suspense bearable and keeps the overall feel fairly light. Sorry, I could never write a short review or anything else.
Shelby is almost killed, during a bank robbery, at the grocery store, and when she recovers she can read minds. This new talent gets her into a lot of trouble, which almost causes her to be murdered. This was a fun short read. I am now into the second book.
I read Fast Money and Lie or Die. Shelby gets herself into very dangerous situations, but her crime boss, and his cohort, Romos, save her life many times.
In Lie or Die, Shelby has started her own consulting. Her husband is the lawyer for a case, where he gets a note, telling him to lose the case. The former lawyer on the case was badly beaten. Shelby joggles keeping her husband safe, working for the crime boss, the police, the FBI, and a private job.
This series was very entertaining with a spunky mind-reading main character careening from one escapade to the next. I had trouble putting these down and would read more from this author.
