Seven Nights

Rate this book
Two straight guys. Seven Nights.

Months before graduation, Austin Rockwell makes a rare 'mistake' at a party. It's the kind of innocent slip-up that a normal college guy could write off as a curiosity. But for the son of a prominent politician, it's a scandal waiting to blow. Can confused Austin continue on his path like nothing ever happened?

Rugged and deep, Cedar Marten is as natural as the lush Minnesota north he calls home. The air's fresh, the fishing's great, and the girls can't get enough of him. So why does he feel like something's missing?

Before he jump-starts his career under his father's watchful eye, Austin escapes to a lake resort to get his story straight. Will his burning but conflicted passions ignite when he meets the handsome and easy-going stud, Cedar? Would Cedar even go for a guy …?

A lot of so-called straight guys think they're only into girls. Until they run into another hot boy who won't take no for an answer.

Hey, I'm Van Barrett, and that's exactly what I write: confused & curious straight boys who just can't resist another man's big, hard, and chiseled -- umm, bod -- and end up begging for it.

Me? Well, I'm a 30-somethin', outdoorsy, sporty kinda guy who used to live in the big city. Got tired of the hustle and bustle, so I moved out to the country and settled on a plot of land. When I'm not working the land, I'm writin' my stories. Hope you enjoy.

HATED IT, HATED IT, HATED IT, HATED IT!!!! Also, this book would never end - 430 pages of absolute literary torture!!!! I am giving this book MINUS stars ... Think of all the stars in the sky right now and that's how many stars I am HIDING AWAY!!! This book is a black hole for stars ... this is where stars go to die!!! I swear, horrible book!!!!
If that's how all the other books written by this author are, I swear to all that is unholy ... :-/!!

**********************************
Oh lord ... read my updates if you want to know what I'm thinking right now because I just ... can't!! The downside is that I spent money on this crap, the upside is that I only spent $1.29 on this book (thank goodness)!!

Listen, I have NO problem spending money, trust me, NO problem whatsoever! It's with this in mind that I'll point out I spend A LOT on books ... A LOT!! What I DO have an issue with is WASTING money, which is how I'm feeling right now, because this book (so far) is absolutely ridiculous! So much so, I'm surprised this was published o__O!!

The kicker is that because a few of this author's books sounded as good as they do, this isn't the only book I've purchased. I bought FIVE of this author's books!!

There are two silver linings though:
1. Four of the books were only around $1.30 ... so if anything bombs, it wasn't a huge waste of money!
There was only one book that cost over $5 ... that's totally fine! To win you have to "gamble"!

2. Three of the five books have a terrific rating, friends adored them - so that's very encouraging, and they sound awesome! So I'm thinking I'll enjoy these books! THIS book actually sounded like it was the worst one, and if that's true then I can most definitely live with that! I just want the other books to be terrific! I'm keeping positive :-)!

Story of previously straight pretending young men who are forced to acknowledge their homosexuality because of their love for each other. Decent book that grew on me. There were soooooo many moments when I wanted to quit this book. Ugh. I sped my way through Austin's most annoying bits, cringed at Cedar's cluelessness and wondered how could two 22-23 year olds be so flipping naive. I was tired of the multiple references to "beating off". Though I get that's what young men do, the whole book skewed younger than indicated. Then the epilogue came and I felt a bit better but truly, which previously affluent young man with a college degree can't find a job that's not flipping burgers? Are you kidding me? 3 stars for solidly, readable book that may resonate with those who love YA.

What do you do when what should be wrong feels so right?
When a childish game of “spin the bottle” throws Austin’s whole world upside down he hopes the vacation he had planned with his now ex-girlfriend will allow him time to think everything through. Cedar has lived at his parents resort “The Pines” his whole life, he is getting tired of the constant flow of females that enter and leave his life (and bed) with no real connection. First impressions when Austin and Cedar meet are shall we say less than good (Austin almost runs over Cedar). Bad weather sends Austin storming after Cedar, however as they spend time animosity grows to comradery and within a few days they are inseparable (not to mention fantasizing about each other). Neither man has shared more than a kiss with another man and are not sure how to change that until Cedar takes the risk and kisses Austin, which unfortunately send him running. With time running out and real life looming they need to figure out how they feel and if that is worth the fallout. Great story, beautiful setting with strong characters that harbor unseen vulnerabilities and strengths they never knew they had, each finding they would give up everything for love. I will definitely be adding to my read again list!

This was a pleasant surprise.

Austin, a republican senators son who's a little douchey, kisses a guy at college and REALLY REALLY likes it and it puts him on a path to find himself despite his father. When he goes to stay at a cabin after breaking up with his girlfriend he meets Ceder, another guy struggling to figure out where he should be in the world.

This felt like a slow burn even though the book-minus the epilogue- only spans a week. What I loved was that after Austin and Ceder kiss for the first time they actually talk. Like really talk. It was refreshing. Their relationship escalates pretty quickly for 2 guys who have both only kissed 1 guy before but they are adults so it wasn't out of place. And they do develop a friendship.

There's sweet moments, sexy moments and some stuff that made me laugh out loud. The ending is a tiny bit OTT but it's fiction so I was on board. What I didn't like was !3.The epilogue was a good HEA but it was pretty much all telling.

Austin and Cedar make for an unlikely couple in Seven Nights. I enjoyed the story, but there were some unrealistic points that every book has, depending on who is reading. For example, some may think that Austin was too feminine, while others may read and think, 'Hey, he reminds me of someone I know'... all a matter of perception. I think it's sexy one way or the other. There were a few places an editor could have cleaned up a little better, but that is likely in most books. Some of the sex may have been a touch off on some points, but enjoyable none the less. There were lots of times I just wanted to shake them to get them to communicate better and to stop letting everyone choose how they are supposed to live their lives as two grown men. All in all, it was a good story, one that you should really form your own opinion on after reading. I will be checking out more from this author in the future.

Really Enjoyable Read.

I've been struggling with contemporary fiction lately and when I started reading this book, it was more with a view to clearing out my Kindle Unlimited library to make way for something different. Oh boy, was I surprised to find myself reading until 5am because I just could not put it down. Turns out, too, that its a really decent length story so I had to save the rest for today.

This book is really well written. There is great humour, both situational and in dialogue. It's super hot (from the spin the bottle until the end). The characters are really well developed, there is little angst but the story will take a little tug on your heartstrings and ultimately leave you feeling warm and satisfied.

The epilogue is somewhat far fetched and idealistic, but hey, this is fiction and hopefully some day it will all come true.

Really Good

It is great to read a good story. Often it seems like something was left out, not this one. Read it you will be glad you did.

Absolutely loved this novel! Yes, it certainly has sizzling sex, but that’s not why I enjoy Romance. Van delivers in providing me the kind of entertainment that leaves me on a high.

Cedar and Austin meet at a a resort in Minnesota that Cedar's parents own. Austin was suppose to bring his girlfriend Kelly to purpose but something happened at a party that the couple went to of Kelly's friends. Austin is the son of a Senator who is Republican. While Kelly and her friends are not. They broke up shortly after the party. So Austin went to the resort alone, his first impression that he gave wasn't the greatest. But soon Cedar and him became fast friends.
This is a first time gay romanc e novel, it sure has some funny moments. Van sure knows how to write a scene and knows exactly what is called for.
I really liked Cedar's character, he reminds me of me. So open minded and into nature, crystals and loves the water.
