Little Blue Truck is going to a Halloween party! Along the way he sees different party goers - - who are they? Children will enjoy lifting the flaps to reveal just who is wearing each costume! 🎃👻

I guess the moral of the story is don't try to read a lift-the-flaps book on a Kindle. Double tapping did not work (for me, anyway) to reveal the identity of the masked critter . . . though it wasn't too hard to make an educated guess.

description

There's not much of a story here, but Jill McElmurry's illustrations are adorable, so we'll let it be a four-star read.

Cute, non-scary Halloween book. My three year old loved the lift the flaps and guessing game.

Beep! Beep! Boo! Little Blue Truck is back just in time for Halloween. Little Blue Truck and his friend Toad are on their way to the barn for a Halloween party. While journeying to the barn, they encounter different farmyard animals in their Halloween costumes. When you lift the flap, the identity of the costumed animal is revealed. This book is recommended for families to enjoy together; children will enjoy guessing who each costumed animal is! Any fans of Little Blue Truck's other picture book adventures will find this book to be a delight.

I love the flip book aspect of this installment but the actual story is a bit lacking in comparison to the other LBT books. We just go from house to house guessing who is underneath what costume. Beautifully illustrated as always.

after learning i’m 4 books behind on my reading goal, and the fact i’ve read this book at least 3 times a day for the past 9 months, i’m counting it, and i have a lot of thoughts.
1. the pages must be laced with some sort of solvent that causes amnesia, because every time i see that stupid sheep wearing a black mask, i proudly say “it’s a cow!” before flipping the page and seeing the sheep obnoxiously Baaaa at me. and the real cow in the book is BROWN? talk about a red herring. Armstrong in And Then There We’re None 🤝🏼 Sheep in Little Blue Truck Halloween.
2. because the author and illustrator pull us into this guessing game, we don’t even notice Little Blue and Toad sneaking off to get dressed for the party! all of a sudden this ghost shows up and we have no clue who it is. i’ve memorized every letter of this book forward and backward, know each animal and their costumes (not the sheep) and JUST noticed toad putting the sheet on little blue in the background. i feel like i’m in the matrix, i’ve been bamboozled, i feel like my parents are about to call me to tell me i was adopted.

This was a cute book for toddlers. It showed what the barnyard animals dressed up as for Halloween. It is a flap book, so the child can guess who is wearing the costume.

The lift the flap is a nice idea. The story itself is a bit flat. But I'm glad I am getting a break from the original. 🙂

This was so cute! My kids love the Little Blue Truck series, and I was so excited to find this Halloween edition. We have a long commute and go on a lot of road trips, so I am always looking for ways to entertain two young kids. This certainly did the trick! My kids loved the story and audiobook. Oliver Wyman's narration was lively and held their attention. We had it on repeat!

Thank you to NetGalley and Clarion Books for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.

Little Blue Truck’s Halloween is always a favorite for us, my kids love the flip the flap element of it and think it’s so much fun. I like that there is mystery trying to figure out who is under the masks, that’s definitely the best part. Such a sweet and not so spooky story, we read it all year round, definitely recommend it especially for Halloween time.

We were at the store when I stumbled across Little Blue Truck's Halloween. Instantly, I knew we had to buy it for Emmett. It turns out that he loves the flaps on the pages. Just to be clear, this book is a hardcover book; however, it is not a traditional hardcover. It is more like a baby and toddler-friendly hardcover, except Emmett has already ruined the flaps because he played with it so much.

So, Blue and Toad are going to a party, and they start inviting others along for a ride. Throughout the book, it describes different animals' costumes. Then, it asks, "Under the mask who do you see?" Your child then lifts the flap, and it says something like "'Baaa!' says the sheep. 'It's me! It's me!'" After Blue picks up everyone and arrives at the party, Toad says that there is one more. Can you guess who it is? The sheet comes off, and there is Little Blue!

Overall, this book is well worth the money. Sure, I wish the flaps were a little more like Little Blue Truck's Springtime so they wouldn't get ruined as fast. However, Emmett loves this book, so that's all that matters. The illustrations for Little Blue Truck's Halloween as great. I especially love the party. Since the book pretty much follows an order, it is easy to memorize the pages. This is extremely important when your child keeps lifting the flap up and down, so you cannot actually see the text. Little Blue Truck's Halloween is a perfect addition to your young one's collection, especially near Halloween. "Beep! Beep! Boo!"

Didn't like this quite as well as some of the other Little Blue Truck books. The author went out of her way not to say what the friends were dressed up as. While I agree this broadens the potential audience for the book, I personally find too much PC annoying as hell. Why can't you say the pig is dressed as a witch or the hen dressed as a pirate?

Also, this is a lift the flap book readily destroyed by anyone under three years of age, worthless to those of us teach littles in a preschool setting. I borrowed a copy from the library and returned it promptly before the little angels got to work on it.

It's always nice to see a lift-the-flap book join a longstanding series. Right in time for Halloween, Little Blue Truck is making his way through the countryside with his friends, who each take turns dressing up. It's a fun, quick read that younger children will love. Beep, beep, boo!

If your backseat goblins are two seconds away from staging a coup over snack rations, Little Blue Truck’s Halloween is here to restore order with three minutes of delightful chaos and barnyard mischief. This audiobook is toddler gold. It’s got rhythm, mystery, costumes, and just enough plot to keep your tiny co-pilot from biting someone over a juice box.

Little Blue is doing what he does best, picking up his animal besties for a Halloween party. But surprise! Everyone’s in costume, and the whole thing turns into a barnyard version of The Masked Singer with less glitter and more mooing. Each stop is a mini guessing game, and yes, your kid will yell “It’s a cow!” like it’s the Super Bowl. They will also be wrong half the time, which is hilarious and humbling.

Oliver Wyman’s narration is absolutely bringing the spooky party vibes. He’s got the animal sounds locked down, the pacing is perfect, and he somehow makes a sheep in a mask sound dramatic. This is not just someone reading a story. This is a one-man Halloween parade with sound effects.

Now, if you’re the kind of grown-up who gets emotionally invested in farm animal continuity, you might notice that some of these disguises are straight-up trickery. The sheep? The sheep is a menace. Wearing a black mask and masquerading as a cow like she’s auditioning for a role in a low-budget farm noir. And while you're busy yelling at a fictional sheep, Little Blue and Toad are in the background pulling off the world’s most wholesome costume switcheroo. It's sneaky. It's subtle. It's basically a Pixar-level plot twist packed into three minutes.

The story doesn’t overstay its welcome, which is a blessing when you’ve got toddlers on a loop. It’s short enough for a preschooler’s attention span but fun enough to hit repeat without losing your mind. If your kid already loves the physical lift-the-flap book, the audio adds a whole new layer of fun.

It’s festive, funny, and the sheep deserves an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Misleading Costume. 4.5 stars, obviously.

Huge thanks to HarperAudio Children’s and NetGalley for the early listen. You fed my child’s Halloween obsession and gave me three whole minutes to drink lukewarm coffee in peace. You are the real MVPs.

🎃👻Our family are big fans of the Little Blue Truck series, and this Halloween adventure is one we return to every year. We were thrilled to discover the audiobook version—it brings a whole new layer of coziness and excitement to a story we already love.

The narrator does a fantastic job capturing the playful spirit of the book, making it feel like a festive celebration from start to finish. My kids especially enjoy the rhyming text and the fun, predictable pattern that builds anticipation with each page. Their favorite moment? Lifting the flap to reveal who’s hiding in the dragon costume!

Whether you’re snuggling up for a Halloween storytime or just looking for something joyful to listen to together, this audiobook is a delightful treat for little ones and grown-ups alike.
Enjoy this adventure with your little ones. 🎃👻

Halloween has always been my favorite time of year and as a mother now I love sharing the fun with my daughter. One of my favorite parts of motherhood is getting to read my daughter all these Halloween story books for kids. Little Blue Truck is a favorite for us.

It has all the tropes of what make for an enjoyable children's book.

It has beautiful illustrations filled with verses that sing with catchy rhymes and as a bonus it's a lift the flap book. My daughter loves lifting the flaps to see who is behind the costume.

Great for fans of the Little Blue Truck series and Halloween.

This lift-the-flap book written in verse, brings Little Blue Truck and his friends together for a guessing game story. As Little Blue Truck drives down the road he sees each of his friends dressed in costume for a Halloween party. Young children will enjoy guessing each of the animals and lifting the flap to see if they are correct in their prediction. The book is printed on thick board book like pages with a sturdy front and back cover.
