Suzanne Brockmann Presents a new series of category romance novellas set in Southern California, written by Jason T. Gaffney with Ed Gaffney. Short, spicy, and funny, the California Comedy series puts the comedy in rom-com.
Beantown West owner Clark Benson has completely made-over the sweet little coffee shop he’d inherited from his grandfather, turning it into a thriving local SoCal business. But his social life remains a hot mess. When he can’t even get up the nerve to talk to an attractive man who’s caught his eye, he turns to a longtime friend for help.
Actor Hunter Westbrook’s handsome face, hot body, and smooth charm have brought him a bounty of quick hookups throughout his short life. But lately the heat of the moment turns rapidly into a morning of regrets, and he’s just embarked on a Year of No to figure out exactly who or what it is that he wants.
When his nerdy friend Clark asks him to be his personal fairy godmother, Hunter reluctantly takes on the challenge. He gives Clark a full Cinderella makeover—from manscaping to new wardrobe to laughter-filled lessons on how to flirt with hot guys. But when those lessons in love go too far, neither Hunter nor Clark is willing to admit that their perfect Prince Charming has been right there, all along... (About 33,000 words or 125 pages)
It wasn't anything original and there were parts were I was rolling my eyes (Hunter's cellphone gets broken so he has no chance to contact Clark **eyerolling**, and don't let me start about when Hunter sees Clark talking with Vincent and then starting crying **eyerolling**), but it was a nice read and light, very low on angst. I wish they didn't jump into bed so quickly, it would have been nicer if they talked a little bit before? I don't know, it seemed so out of nowhere...
The most shocking thing was, however, to read that this the author co-writes with this father 😱 and let me say that the sex scene was very hot 🙈
I hopped over here from Suzanne’s books. The LGBTQ characters in her books at first made me cry- to find these characters as real human beings in a book I could read was overwhelming. When found Jason’s books I fell in love as well. Oops: Jason with Ed. :-) p.s. I’m a straight woman with a burning passion for feminism and gay rights and I love ALL love stories. Check these stories out.
Cute, funny, sweet, and borderline slapstick in parts. Worth putting book #2 on Mount TBR, but I'm maybe a little more interested in watching their movie The Perfect Wedding...
Jason and Ed Gaffney have started a great new series of romantic comedies featuring out gay men. Although this is only the first, this one paves the way for more greatness to come. I really enjoyed this story of Clark, a guy who thinks he's a loser, who asks his best friend to help him land the guy he is crushing on. Hunter plays fairy godmother and with some clothes and a great haircut, transforms Clark into the man he's been hiding all these years. But now Hunter finds himself falling for his best friend while helping him to land another guy. What is he thinking? I'm looking forward to the next book in this series and to many more to come.
Cute and funny male male romance, about a nervous guy who thinks he's unattractive asking his hot gay friend to give him a makeover so he can woo a customer in the coffee shop he owns. Of course, once hot gay friend does the makeover, hot gay friend gets the hots for the former geek. Light and fluffy fun.
