Nightstalker is book one in the Red Team series. Each book is standalone with a HEA. Warning* 18+ explicit and graphic sexual content and language.

Describing this book…. mass chaos, confusing, and enraging.
This author’s “Triple Canopy” series had its faults, but it was smooth reading. Some parts were boring, but the storylines always made sense and the characters were always enjoyable. In fact, character-writing in that series was the author’s jam, but this book was NOTHING like her prior series, and that’s not a positive remark. This feels like a different author wrote this, and I’d bet anything that a different editor worked it.
This is that food dish that you can’t say is good, bad or indifferent, but you feel compelled to eat it anyway for some unexplainable reason.
The first half of the storyline is cloak and dagger BS. Purposeful misleading, confusing, incomplete info. I hate that shit. No one thinks or speaks the way this is composed. It’s like thinking about a pool, water, splashing, screams for hours without thinking about someone having drowned. You don’t just not think about drowning, and it’s the same premise with the subjects of this book. The MMC wouldn’t think about her without thinking about who she is to him and what happened. It takes half the book for the truth to come out, and the lead up to it feel so fake because of how it’s written… or rather what’s not written in all the prior MMC inner thoughts. Purposefully incomplete vs naturally mysterious.
The big plot kicker here is her identity. If her identity to him needed to remain hidden, then he shouldn’t have had a POV. The actions were also made f’d. The MMC waits two years, and then just shows up to be some random team member verses sitting the FMC down and explaining who he is, who she is, and what they are to each other. Uhm, no. That’s cruel. That’s beyond stupid and unbelievable.
From the relationships to the mission, I felt like I was dropped off in the middle of a series. Piles of info and loads of people with zero context until midway through the book. Again, cloak and dagger that makes this book read like cheese sauce on tree bark. Too many missing pieces to all the backstories.
The MMC is just beyond repair once the truth starts to surface. He calls the FMC a bitch multiple times. He walks away when she lashes out, and the lashing out is understandable given what’s she’s gone through. MMC claims to love her… yet, some hurtful words make him hurt her threefold, walk away, give up, think about other women, etc? Love? Really? You’ve got to be f’ing kidding. She’s begging, desperate, and suddenly he’s just there to hurt her! Why? Cause she said he was just a fuck before she KNEW who he was to her. This is some SAF, unromantic shit. It’s OTT angst done in the nastiest way possible, and there’s no coming back from that in a romance.
I’m reading just shaking my head. The strong FMC turns into a wilted flower. She begs a man to stay who does nothing but hurt her for a few words she didn’t even know the meaning behind. Again, she becomes a character you can’t even root for because of the stupidity here.
A lot of unbelievable, such as all this relationship drama going down while they are on a black ops mission with the POTUS in the same house. That entire situation is unbelievable. It’s unbelievable that the people in her life just allowed the unknown to continue verses orientate her to the truth immediately after surgery or even once the MMC returned. Unbelievable that it would take the MMC two years to catch up with sex slave victims and save them… I repeat - TWO years to track down sex traffic victims. The president going on a covert mission to kill an assassin?
The DOM sex club talk with Drew was just so weird.
I can’t believe this SAF plot and horrible characters are from the same author of TC series.
A lot of retelling and useless info padding word count…
“Entering my ten-digit security code I swiped the screen to take the call.” -page one. “Checking the clock again, I entered my ten-digit security code and dialed the secured number” - page two
Im guessing it’s because I’m having to read so hard for comprehension, but the grammatical errors are sticking out like sore thumbs on every page….
Usage of I verses me : “Then there was Jasmin; she was going to be red hot mad not only at Zane, Eric, and I {{{ME}}}} but the universe.” “To cause a rift between you and I {{{{ me}}}}” “smiling at me like it was I, {{{ me who}}} that had just given her the world”
Usage of who verses that: “If Timothy Clark was the one that {{{{{who}}}}} left
Mistake after mistake with run on sentences, missing punctuation, etc: “These guys were a joke, {{{.}}} mistake after mistake.” “I felt a boot kick me in the gut {{{{,}}}}and I tried to curl up into a ball to protect my broken ribs.”
Too many damn aliases. The MMC goes by:
• Lincoln • Linc • Ghost • Red Wing • Mr. DDG
What didn’t bother me….
Some complained this is X-rated. That first sex scene is long, but it’s actually one of the best parts of the book. Author can write the hell outta sexy, dominant, alpha bedroom male. It’s just out of the bed that the characters go to shit.
Some complained about the use of the f-word. That’s the least offensive f’ing thing about the book.
Bottom Line With Spoilers
Forget everything else, it’s unfathomable that a wife wakes up with no memory, and her husband goes off on a two-year mission…. Comes back and fucks her without telling her that he is her husband. When he finally does man up to tell her after she learns the POTUS is her uncle, her boss is her brother-in-law, and all sorts of other BS, she’s bitchy and calls the MMC just a warm dick. Instead of helping her understand who he is (her hubby,) he walks away and verbally abuses her until he leaves yet again with no plans to come back. EMOTIONAL ABUSE. Throw in the POTUS being there for all this and then going off on a rescue mission with a contract black ops company to save the MMC, and you have one nonsensical, nasty, BS storyline with POS characters. Once MMC is rescued, immediate HEA. Wtf? Will not be continuing with this series. -100 stars.
I'm all about how a book starts out. Because let's face it, if the beginning doesn't grab me then there is no point in reading the rest. Jasmin had me from the beginning. A women taking charge and holding her own in what's thought of as a mans world. Taking pride in her work. But knowing there is something missing to her memories of a past mission and not getting any answers to them. Until the day Lincoln walks into the room. From there everything changes. The truth to her past finally starts to be told. These book had me laughing, crying, and wanting more. I highly recommend reading these book.
Was there a book previous to this? I feel like I was dropped in the middle at book one. And this couple never actually talked. At all. He just shows up as her husband, which she doesn't know because she's had amnesia, and he's pissed she doesn't remember him. Her team has had 2 years to tell her the truth gradually so maybe she'll remember him, yet nothing from them. She's been lied to her entire life, by everybody. Then they're having sex and they're all good. The whole plot was just odd. A prologue tease of what happened would have really helped to map this story out better. I'm going to read book 2, but if it's just as choppy I think I'll have to hard pass on the rest of this series.
Okay let me say this I love a good romantic suspense with a strong heroine... and while Jasmin was strong she became a little much.
There were SO many bombs dropped on her in a span of like 2 days that I totally got she had a mental breakdown, but going to Lincoln who she “just met” for comfort was weird to me. I get they had a connection, but it was WAYYYY too insta-love to me. And yes emotional stressors can make people closer but this took it to the extreme!
I was getting really annoyed with Lincoln and him always calling Jasmin “my sweet Jasmin” it happened so many times that it became super annoying. I was wanting a better pet name than that.
Lincoln was.....interesting.. he was coming off way to strong and it wasn’t a good look for him... I wish we had more interactions with the team I felt like we got some snip it’s but it wasn’t enough for me to really connect with anyone besides Zane.
Overall it was good, nothing mind blowing, but it was entertaining and kept me hooked for the whole book, so that’s something!
Yay I have just Finnished this amazing read, Riely Edwars is an amazing eriter and I ill definitely be follow this series I can't wait for the next book in the series.
First off im in love with all the characters, Riely managed to keep me in suspense from the first chapter and I had to keep turning the pages to find out what the next twist was, what secret was going to pop up next. I really enjoyed how she gave all the character such strong foundations, not just the main characters of this book, so you truly believed you knew them but yet you still were able to leave plenty of mystery for their own story.
Linc is a strong dominate hard headed male, and yes i wanted to slap him upside the head a few times. I loved his character, he definitely is a nice strong alpha male that im sure could make any girl feel safe. I think with his sexy smirk he definitely melts Jas heart. I love how Jasmine is sassy can hold her own in a mans world and has earned the respect of all around her. Linc and Jas story oh wow i would never have guessed. I was drawn right in and was living each moment right along with them, i really felt for them as their story unfolded. I loved how you didn't see the twists and turns, and then all of a sudden their were secrests to be revealed, you managed to make me laugh, get all hot and bothered, then cry, i was heart broken, then i was angery and then on the edge of my seat. I loved how minwasbkept me captivated from the beginning to the end, this story was writren so you easily loose your self in it. I loved the ending, i was left wanting more i can not wait to learn more about the team and their stories thankyou for an amazing read.
Not read by this author before but really enjoyed this book. Jasmine is just the right amount of feisty but still retains her feminine ways despite being in a team full of men. Lincoln....holy cow Lincoln! Super hot alpha male.....the sex scenes are panty melting hot. Looking forward to hearing other characters stories especially Zane.
I’m in love with Riley Edwards’ books. Love everything about her books. Jasmin and Lincoln’s book was so good. Jasmin is bad@ss. And Linc holly hotness!! Love, second chance, suspense and brotherhood. I couldn’t put it down. Now on to the next.
No spoilers. Synopsis says it all but doesn't described how HOT LINCOLN IS. Swoon. Hot navy seal, CIA, I don't even think I need to say more. This was very entertaining loved the powerful, independent female lead. All around good book. Its a easy read full of twists and turns and drama. I recommend. You won't be bored with it.
Jasmin lived her life as a security contractor... Shooting guns and killing bad guys. For 2 years sh has been trying to place what has been missing. When the hot and sexy Ex seal Lincoln walks into her life. Will he change her or will she put up a fight. One things for sure his seal training didn't prepare him for a woman like her
Holy shit! Riley Edwards was a recent gem of a find for me. I first stumbled upon this author when looking at Susan Stoker's kindle world SEAL of Protection series. That book was Protecting Olivia and boy was I blown away. I quickly searched for more books by Riley Edwards as I felt sure there was more about the Red Team that was highlighted in Protecting Olivia.
Nightstalker is Jasmine and Lincoln's story and what a story it was. I was sucked in from the first paragraph, Riley Edwards words grabbed me by the throat and refused to let go. I love everything about this book, the world building, the intensity of it, the suspense, the drama, the TWIST and I want to know more about secondary characters. I am intrigued by Drew (a Dom) and was hoping to find his story of how he met his wife(sub), alas I couldn't find it. I want Zane to have his book too and Eric! I wouldn't mind if Tom has a novella of his own, that would be a hoot!
I would highly recommend that readers start with this book first and followed by Protecting Olivia. I believed Jaxon's story is coming in May *fingers crossed* Jaxon's story will be the continuation of Protecting Olivia as there was some unresolved issues.
Highly recommending this author to all who love the romantic/military suspense type of genre. Riley Edwards is fast becoming one of my favourite authors.
So many adjectives to describe this book. This is the first book I’ve read from Riley and wow. What a start. It definitely delivered.
Jasmin is part of an elite group, the Red Team. As they prepare for a new mission, Jasmin is blindsided by some information her team members tell her. Information that will change her life.
So much happens in this book, it’s hard to even know where to start. Also, without spoilers, it’s difficult to even try to explain. You just have to read it. Never a dull moment, action packed throughout, read it!
Powerful story full of emotional roller coasters, excitement and action. It is edgy and gritty with a fast pace. It had me holding my breath one minute and squirming the next. The plot is interesting, the characters easy to like. Although their are two other books following these characters in KW that actually take place towards the end of this one timewise this book could be read as a stand alone, they fit in at the end of the main part of this one before the extra bits. Fantastic read.
Had some weird moments in the beginning that honestly it was kinda ridiculous I had to laugh.. the rest was confusing and chaotic. The whole book was a big WTF
I loved rhe 707 series and The Next Generation series and thought I would go back to the beginning of Riley’s books. Sadly this one wasn’t for me. I didn’t like either character Jasmine or Lincoln. For me the book didn’t work. I’d definitely try more of this series and the other teams books though.
Nightstalker is book one in the new Red Team series by Riley Edwards. Lincoln Parker decided to come home and lead the Red Team after the retirement of the present leader, Drew. However, there was one member of the red team who did not want Lincoln Parker to be part of their team, Jasmin. In addition, one of the group members wanted to tell Jasmin the truth about the failed mission that happened two years ago. The truth will change Jasmin's life forever. Readers of Nightstalker will continue to follow Lincoln, Jasmine, and the Red team to discover what happens next.
Nightstalker is the first book I have read by Riley Edwards, and it is an enjoyable read. I enjoy Riley Edwards' writing style and her characters, and I look forward to reading other books by Riley Edwards. I began to understand some of the issues faced by military families and how they impact everyone. I prefer not to read books that have chapters representing a single character. However, for Nightstalker, it helps me to understand the plot of this book.
I love Riley Edward's portrayal of her characters and their interaction with each other throughout this book. Nightstalker is well-written and researched by Riley Edwards. I like Riley Edward's description of the settings of Nightstalker, which complemented the book's plot.
This story really pulled me in from the beginning and gipped on tight. The pacing is quick and consistent throughout, giving a constant adrenaline pump and making you flip the pages faster! The reason for four stars instead of five is the writing. It is too proper, I know that sounds weird, but there are no contractions, no I’m, no you’re, etc. it’s just not a natural way to talk so that really bothered me throughout the book. It’s just too proper! Everyone uses contractions when they talk, and write. Besides that, this is a fabulous story, a great start to the series, and I’m looking forward to starting the next one.
What the hell happened to Riley Edwards' writing? This book was a hot mess! The overall plot was fine, if a bit convoluted. But the characters and the dialogue were AWFUL! I don't have a problem with profanity, but in this book, it was so far beyond excessive that it made everything seem unrealistic and overdone, and it came off like it was trying too hard. And EVERY character cussed excessively. There had to be thousands of cuss words in this book. It wasn't just gratuitous; it was over the top ridiculous! Then, you add in the highly immature characters who were honestly cookie cutter versions of one another and the unrealistic, stilted dialogue, and it was just a cluster fuck of epic proportions!
My biggest problem with the dialogue boiled down to the stunningly few contractions used. Nobody speaks that way! Yet 95% of the dialogue was "I am" instead of I'm or "cannot" instead of can't. "Will not" instead of won't, "you are" instead of you're. Maybe having one character who talks like that to give him a defining quirk would feel believable, but EVERYONE talked like that! Take a minute to think about yourself and everyone you know and how often you've ever hear somebody speak that way. You don't! People for whom English is their first language typically speak that way, but for native English speakers it just doesn't happen, and because of that the dialogue felt unnatural, stiff, forced, and it didn't flow. Then, there was the overuse of names. When real people talk, we typically don't call someone by their name unless we're trying to get their attention. These characters, especially Lincoln and Jasmin, were doing that dang near every sentence! That and their gross overuse of terms of endearment. It just all came off as so fake. For all these reasons, I had a hard time reading this book. I just kept rolling my eyes and cringing.
Somewhere around the middle of the book, I started skipping pages and skimming others because I just couldn't take it anymore. Especially the super immature behavior between Lincoln and Jasmine. They acted like children more than grown adults. This book is a big disappointment. I'm a huge fan of Riley's work, so I was surprised this book was so terrible. Hopefully, it's a one-off, and the next book will be better.
This is Riley Edwards debut book. It brings to mind the Troubleshooters series that I love by Suzanne Brockmann, only without the humor. Nightstalker is code name for Jasmin Smith. She's part of a covert clean up company Z Corps who regularly works with the CIA to handle that which the government needs to keep on the downlo. She's the only girl of the bunch and she's treated like one of the guys, only she knows they all love her like a sister and keep extra watch over her. She has night terrors and gets blinding headaches...hmmm... No spoilers here. Lincoln Parker, new to the team, with plenty of secrets of his own, he goes by the code name Ghost. Everyone has heard of his stellar career, his accomplishments and they're happy to have him on their team. Did I mention LOTS of secrets? Join Jas and Linc as they get their answers, take out the bad guys and maybe just maybe get all hot n horny. The writing was good. It's hard to say with the editing because I got an arc that clearly stated it had to go back for final edits...and there was permission to hit her up via email if we found errors, but I read this literally last minute and haven't submitted an email, so maybe down the line, I'll read the final version and see what's changed. The story line was interesting, kept you entertained enough with the sexy and the suspense-y. I personally didn't care for the back and forth between Jasmin and Linc. I didn't like all the ' I"ll have sex with you but I don't like you' stuff...I never have...the push and pull, the drama between those two characters just didn't do it for me, but some people like that...so keep it in mind, read it for yourself. There are quite a few 5 star reviews for it already... I'm going with 3.5 based on the fact that I didn't really connect so much with Jasmin. I found her hard and rude. She DID need someone to "tame" her. LOL. And I found Linc not quite assertive enough to do the job...I can't go into more detail without spoiling it, so I'm gonna leave it there. It's well worth the read and I'll definitely follow the series and read the next. I love to see how authors grow from story to story!
Jasmin Smith is 28 years old and part of Z Corps, a high priority ops team that is run by Zane Lewis, one of the people she is closest to. When one of the men, Drew, decides to no longer go on the missions, Zane brings in Lincoln Parker to replace him.
Lincoln Parker is as arrogant as they come and he has his sights set on Jasmin as his own. As the team begins to go undercover to look for the Spanish assassin, Sonreir, it is clear that the mission goes so much deeper than they ever thought possible.
As Jasmin and the rest of the Red Team go "black" secrets are revealed that question everything most of them ever new and the team alliance must work through it all if they are going to make it out alive as you never know who is truly on your side.
This book was absolutely amazing and had so many twists and turns that I had no idea what was coming next!
It is hard to write a review without spoiling anything as this book is definitely worth every twist and turn the reader takes. I loved Jasmin and as the book went on I loved her more and more as it is so obvious that she has been through a lot and everything thrown at her could not have been easy to deal with! She is awesome - no spoilers!!
Lincoln is just pure alpha and one of those males you'd love to sink your teeth into. The way he talks to Jasmin and wants to claim her right from the beginning is so intriguing. Then you learn more and your jaw hits the ground!
The relationships between everyone come out and this was definitely a story I could not put down and I can't wait to see what's next for the Red Team!

REVIEW New to me author.
This book is about deception, lies and lives on the brink. We have Jas who is one hell of a woman and she is on a team with a few men who take names and ask questions later. Many things happened to Jas prior to the position she now holds and all things will become known. It will be painful for her but in the same breathe it will give her a reason for all that has happened. Linc has come back after two years of being away on a mission and he has one thing in mind. Getting his wife back. All of that will have to wait until those who have betrayed country and man are taken care of.
This book has suspense, brother hood, family and some super hot romance. This book is for adults. I enjoyed the story plot.
I was gifted this book for my honest review Riley Edwards
This is the only book I've read by Riley but believe it won't be the last. I cannot make this review to detailed otherwise I'll give away the goodies that are in this book. This book is about the best of the best black ops team pretty much. All men and one woman - Jasmine aka Nightstalker. This follows her and the man she loves to hate Lincoln Parker through lies, deception and super amazing bedroom scenes. This book is full of crazy wtf moments that keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. There is super steamy burn up your kindle sex, the strongest heroine I've read in a book yet, and the alpha male of all alpha males. Riley keeps you wondering what secrets are who's and why and when someone else is going to find out. I was in a major book rut and this book was exactly what I needed. I cannot wait for the next member of the Red Team to get his story!!!
This is such a good book if you like military type people, suspense, and love. There is a lot of hard language. Jasmin works for Zane who has many ex military people working for him. They go on missions the government usually does not sanction. Jasmin is the only woman on the team, but the guys treat her as one of them even if they do try to protect her. Zane brings in a new member named Lincoln (Linc) to work with the team. For some reason Jasmin is attracted to him and is not herself around him. She is missing two years of her memory when she was held and tortured by the Russians. She has night terrors and some dreams. She wants so bad to remember what happened. I don’t want to give anything away, but some people know what happened but hasn’t told her until now. She also finds out some more startling secrets that turns her world upside down. I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read it.
This is Riley Edwards debut novel and I absolutely LOVED it!! So much that I have read it several times. I typically do not read the military genre but I am now a fan. Jasmin and Lincoln have the ultimate love story. Could you imagine not remembering 2 years of your life? How about not remembering your husband? Or even traumatic events that happened to you? I went through so many emotions with this book. At one point it made me cry and other times it made me smile. This book had everything that I look for in a book-- emotions, a complex and slightly complicated storyline, developed characters, turmoil, and a perfect ending.
Love this quote from the book. " Sweet Jasmin wakeup baby, you're safe. I got you,it's ok now." I felt warm and safe. I never wanted to leave this place.
There were things I liked about this book and things I didn't. I really like reading military-romance, so it had that going for it. Its romantic-suspense aspect was not so easy to follow. I don't think the reader is given enough information to understand why one thing leads to another. Or maybe I just didn't read carefully enough. I found it difficult to tie all the strings together. As far as the romance goes, there's plenty of passion. But the love-you/hate-you back and forth was annoying. I'm going to go ahead and read the next one since they're all Kindle Unlimited. Maybe I'll like it better.
Received a copy. Nightstalker Red Team is an amazing read. The amount of twists and turns and the secrets that are revealed are mind blowing. I love the characters, how the story begins and the way if unfolds. Riley Edwards gives a fast paced, fun and adventurous read. Lincoln is completely consuming. Jasmin is absolutely one bad a$$ woman. I am excited to get my hands on the next book. I want more of all these characters. I feel like each one has a story to be told. Get ready for a blood pumping adventure. Highly recommend this read.
The story didn't actually begin until around the 80% point. Long winded and aside from the sex, boring. Edwards really needs to learn how to use a grammar checker or hire an editor. Everything from miss-used words, sentence structure, and comma use to the point it's distracting. At 80% the story begins to take shape and you begin to understand why the characters are always so worked up in the beginning of the story. The whole story could have been told with half the word count and there is so much sex it becomes gratuitous. Never thought I'd say that!
This is the debut novel by Riley Edwards and an amazing start to a great series. In this novel we are introduced to Red Team a special ops team with some kick ass operatives. It was fast paced and lots of twist and turns. The chemistry between Linc and Jasmine was of the charts. Can't wait to see what's next.
Oh my word! I was on the hunt for something different and that is what I found with Riley's books. To say I am in love with this series and all her other works is an understatement.
I have binged on each and everyone of her books and love each and everyone.
Hot, steamy, sexy, sizzling with hot alpha males. I am in heaven.
