Perhaps the crime Macey recalls witnessing isn't quite the same crime she thought she forgot. She's shut out a lot of memories from the night that she accidentally got mixed up in a home invasion, and now that Tylar, one of the perpetrators of the robbery, has gotten out on parole, things have started happening that freak Macey out. But what if Tyler isn't the one pursuing her? What if he is?

While still exciting and well-written, this last entry in the Sins of the Past collection is by far and large the weakest. To me, the plot would work better as a film than as a book. Still, it's worth reading for those who like romantic suspense.

Another great one from Eason! I enjoyed the mystery, and the amnesia aspect was very interesting. The suspense kept me on my toes, and the villain was totally unexpected! The characters were realistic and the romance sweet. Great quick read!

I know it was a short book, but it just felt kinda rushed and meh overall. I still enjoyed it, but probably wouldn’t read it again.

This story started out really well for me: Macey's gripped in a living nightmare, and you could FEEL her panic and paranoia. The descriptions were really vivid, and I liked how Chad came crashing (almost literally) into the scene to try and help out.
That said, the ending felt very contrived to me. Without giving any spoilers, I'll just say that both Macey and Chad should have received equal treatment for what happened. It felt like the author was dumbing down her female lead so that the guy could play the hero.
Not Lynette Eason's strongest showing, though with my love of the 'Deadly Reunions' series, she's definitely not off my list of preferred Christian suspense authors.

Lynette Eason once again gives a riveting suspense novel. She gives us just enough clues to lead us to the guilty one.

The story is fast paced as all Eason's suspense novels are. There are strong characters in Macey and Chad. I especially liked Chad's strength of character and yet he was real in his response near the end of the story.

The only issue I had was with Valerie, Macey's sister. She lacked something I can quite name. But I guess in the end she was well meaning.

Great story!

Macey Adams was involved in something as a teenage which led her to have amnesia about the entire epidsode. Now she is being hunted by both dreams and real happenings that lead her to believe the people involved are after her. When she wakes up screaming one night, her neighbor Chad Latham, a local detective, comes to her rescue. She tells Chad what she has seen out the window of her home which leads Chad into a case that he is not sure who it will end.

I really liked the characters of Macey and Chad and how well they worked together. But I thought that at times the amnesia thread was overdone. Lynette Eason is one of the suspense authors that I really enjoy, but this novella just didn't seem as well done as her other books.

This one started off quite well and really pulled me into the story! And, while it definitely is better than the last couple of novels I've read by this author and the basic storyline was interesting... it's still only a 3-star read for me. I don't know which of us changed, but I find that I simply don't enjoy this author's writing style as much as I used to. This novella is still a good read, though! :)

4.5 stars. This is a novella that is part of the book "Sins of the Past." Eason has written a very good short story here about a lady who had been part of a robbery gone wrong when she was a teen and now her past is coming forward to mess with her. Because it's a shorter story, the character development is not as good as I would have liked, but other than that, it was a well-formed, enjoyable, romantic suspense. I listened to this book on Audible and the narrator was very engaging and easy to listen to.

Wow! I finished this one in one fell swoop (and stayed up far, far too late). Great suspense, great mystery. There wasn't a lot of character development, aside from the memories, which is one of the things I consider when reviewing. This IS considered a novella, however, so I suppose the author had to be picky about her focus elements. It really was a nail-biting, heart-racing story that is definitely worth the read.

A quick read novella that I just couldn't put down. Macey has a memory problem over a robbery that she was accidentally involved in many years ago. Now that she is starting to remember someone is after her and her memory of that night. Her neighbor, a handsome single policeman, and his partner are willing to help her. Thus begins a riveting adventure that keeps you reading when everyone around you wants your attention. Clean action packed read.

I love Lynette Eason books but I felt this novella was a little rushed. It started out great, grabbing my attention from the beginning. By the end, it was hard to believe things had transpired as fast as they did. I felt cheated with how quickly everything progressed. I feel Macey’s story would be a great full length novel so it would be fully developed and live up to its potential.

Another great book

Lynette delivered again! Fast paced with lots of suspense and turns. Kind of figured by the middle who the person trying to kill her was but totally surprised by the reasons. I always appreciate the references to the characters spiritual belief without being pushy.

As details from selected amnesia begin to take on focus, so do the threats on her life. This novella has several intriguing moments. As the facts come into clarity, the crime and the criminals begin to be revealed. Several good character and a well-paced plot makes this a good read.

Great short read in great Lynette Eason manner. Love the intrigue that author displays in her books. Her main characters thoughts are displayed in a manner that draws me into the plot and trying to guess the outcome. Mystery at its best!

I did not suspect how this story would end. Interesting characters with a loss of memory and stakes much higher than anyone would guess.

A good short story with mystery. Lynette Eason knows how to write a short story eliminating the unnecessary.

Some of her full length books are a bit long.

Macey Adams wished she could remember the sins that haunted her. Because if she could remember, then maybe she would be able to figure out who was trying to kill her—or drive her mad. She stood with her back against the wall, a butcher knife clutched in her right hand, facing the kitchen door…

The opening scene in this book really caught my attention, and the story became more intriguing as it progressed. "Blackout" is very well written and filled with suspense and mystery from beginning to end. I really enjoyed reading this book! :)
