Note: I received a complimentary copy for an honest review.

Always You is a multi-layered story that's like reading several books in one. On the one hand, the author has written a heart wrenching tale of 3 sisters overcoming the shock of the death of their parents. We read about their journey through grief and healing. Second, it's a tale that features one of the sisters and her struggle to overcome an eating disorder. And, finally, it's about the eldest sister and her second chance to reconnect with her one love,
Zack Connelly. Unfortunately, with all the other various elements happening, the romance ends up being rather simplistic.

What I liked - I liked the fact that it's a clean romance and it showed the sisters overcoming and healing from their personal tragedies. I also liked how the writing kept me engaged in the story. It did hold my attention.

What I found questionable - The youngest sister is only 5 while the older 2 sisters are about 28. I'm not sure why the author chose to have such an age difference. Consequently, the 5 year old barely gets developed as a character.

What I didn't like - I didn't like the ending as well. If I say more, I'll give spoilers, but it lacked a critical element that I look for in a book. I also felt that the characters could have been better developed. They needed more depth. Finally, it was a very melancholy read.

Romance - PG - kisses
Language - clean

My rating - 3 stars

Second chance at first love stories are some of the best. Even though Diana and Zack were more friends who secretly crushed on the other, and not necessarily in love, there was always something there for both of them. Their friendship ended rather abruptly and in a way that really hurt Diana so now that Zack is back in the same town as her, old feelings are coming to the surface.

Diana has a tragic past and present. So many heart breaking things have happened in her life but she is so resilient and strong. I loved the kindness that Diana just naturally had. Forgiveness to her sister and other high school tormentors seemed to come so easy for her. I loved that about her.

Sometimes I felt like there was just too much going on in this book. Was my focus supposed to be on Diana and Zack or her sister and Logan? Because there seemed to be multiple stories happening and I think I ended up missing that total character development. Things seemed more glossy and less meaty. I was also missing the emotional connection to the characters. There were so many heart wrenching things happening, I wanted to feel more.

While this book wasn't my favorite, it was okay. I appreciated that it was clean and I also enjoyed the themes of family and forgiveness.

4,5 stars. Always you is a heartwarming short novel about two fightings sisters, who have to go back to their birthplace, a small place called Magnolia Falls after the death of their parents. I really loved this book as it was funny and the characters were well built. I loved how the sisters relationship changed during the book. The ending was a bit rushed for me. Overall I would recommend reading this book!

I really liked these characters. I liked how well developed they were and enjoyed the way they handled things that came up throughout the book. I was rooting them on to succeed. I liked how they dealt with the sister's eating disorder as well and took it as seriously as it deserves and demands. I also liked the way they stepped up to take care of their younger sister.

Bleh........

I think this book is just....it's too much to believe that this would actually happen and would neatly fit into such a SHORT writing space. Too much was going on, the characters weren't fully flushed out and I really had a problem with how neatly they tried to show a LIFETIME of sibling rivalry was worked out.

I MEAN COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, I'm going to tackle the sisters....and the TERRIBLY written resolution to their feud that literally estranged them for years. YEARS!!! DID NO ONE ELSE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS LIKE I DID?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!??! You get glimpses into their lives and all it told me was that there is NO WAY IN HELL that these sisters would just "get over" this mess, regardless of what happened. Yes, sister that modeled needed some serious intervention, and probably felt bad, but really??? REALLY?????

And then there's ZACK. NO. Just...no....NO!!!! That was so rough to read about. The way he treated his ex wife, and I'm supposed to LIKE THIS GUY? No. Just no. I really don't even know where to start to understanding that he hadn't gotten over one girl, so new girl becomes his wife, carries his child and dies...and everyone is completely OK with the fact that he just moves into main character's life without any trouble? OH COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really don't want to write any more of this review, because I....I just can't. I read the book when I was home sick and I think it helped me expel whatever was making my stomach queasy.

I read this as an ARC book. The overall story was sweet but the execution was a little sloppy and definitely needed a heavier hand from the editor. The character development was going great and then felt like it petered out. Sex scenes were steamy but MORE please, lol.

As I started reading this, it soon became apparent this was not a great read, and the more I read on the more I had to push myself to continue to finish this book.

This book is probably exactly what people who hate romance novels think romantic reads are all about. I won’t bore you with a full relay of the plot, the book description divulges enough to give you a general idea. But throughout the whole read of this I kept thinking this could not be for real.
My main issues with this book were (and not necessarily in this order, but these are the things that truly, absolutely, rubbed me up the wrong way, had me rolling my eyes, and shouting REALLY out loud numerous times throughout this painful read):
1. Diana is supposed to be this strong, independent lawyer, that has go her life together. Yet at every turn, she is crying, has little to no backbone, and is willing to not even hash out any real problems, just sweeps them nicely under the carpet. She had some mayor problems growing up with her stepsister Liz. Being confronted with her after all these years, you would think the author would take some time out to put some real time and effort into a proper conversation to delve into those problems and move forward. A mere sorry, a few tears, a hug, and all is well in the world of Liz and Diana. So how was this an issue for more than a decade if it needed only 5 minutes and a tap on the back?
2. Zack kept calling Diana KITTEN. I think I might slap a man that ever tried to call me that. Again, Diana is supposed to be this hot shot lawyer, confident, put together, and she has a man calling her KITTEN?
3. There was little to no character development. We got a glimpse of who these people were (and it wasn’t great!), but no extra pages were devoted to giving us more into who they were, what made them tick, everything revolved around them as teenagers, and their lost love, and rekindling it again now. That is all good and well, but there is so much more to a good story then just the romance. That was sorely lacking here.
4. The dialogue was ridiculous. Just read the excerpt. It will give you a clue to what I mean.
5. Liz has a mayor problem, and needs mayor help. Off course her help comes in the form of a delicious therapist and dietician. This was a bit farfetched and also took away from the story. All at once there was more romantic drama going, that got very little attention. I’m assuming this is an intro to the next book, but a lot was already revealed.
6. Zack proposed to a girlfriend, who he didn’t really love, and who he had been sleeping with without sleeping with her, all because he saw Diana on a date in the city with another man. That is just so preposterous. First of all, to believe he was having such a platonic relationship for such a lengthy time (his attraction to Diana would suggest him to be more physically attracted to women), and secondly to propose solely because you see the woman you love with another man. If that pushes you to marry someone, and actually go through with it, you are an idiot.
This book give such a bad idea of what I consider to be a good contemporary romance. It lacks a good strong heroine, a strong plot that keeps you turning the pages. There is a lack of a male hero that has the ability to make the reader fall in love with him regardless of his possible flawed personality and possible broken past. A good contemporary romance has the ability to make even the sceptic believe in true love, redeem even the unredeemable, and doing such with a captivating style full of wit, humor and emotion. A true romantic read can take you from the deepest despair (yes, even shedding a few bitter tears), to the highest of highs, and leave you feeling moved forever. Obviously not all books have that ability, but books like this, they give the genre a terrible reputation. And as much as I abhor writing a bad review, I feel it is my duty to share why I stand so strongly behind this genre, and what that means to me.

I was so hopeful at the sounds and start of this one...

I received my copy of this eBook in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Zack had gone to get some punch and was taking longer than she expected. She decided to go looking for him. She quickly found him, kissing her stepsister. She must have made a startled sound because Zack turned to look at her, and the color drained from his face. "It's not what you think, Diana," he said.

She didn't want to hear anymore. She lifted her dress and ran away from him as fast as she could. The last thing she saw was the satisfied grin on Liz's face. Her perfect night had ended in heartache.

The things that happen to us as teens seem to colour and stick with us throughout our lives. Diana had a mother than abandoned her, a father that worked too much and then fell hard for a woman with a daughter that was the same age. When Liz and her mother came to live with them, Diana had these beautiful dreams of a sister - someone that could be her confidante and friend, someone to share the world with and her home with so that she would never be alone. She'd gone out of her way to make this new stepsister welcome, but in the end she got the wicked stepsister from fairy stories. Liz had wanted nothing to do with her, in fact she only wanted to make Diana suffer.

By the time the girls had grown, the rift was so large that they only saw each other on random family gatherings despite living in the same city. That they shared a younger sister and each a father and mother was beyond the point. Diana wanted nothing to do with Liz, but Liz was beginning to see the error of her selfish ways. When the death of their parents brings these young women back to Magnolia Falls to raise their half sibling in their family home together, I was completely unprepared for what happened!

I've ranked this as 3 stars, it's somewhere between 3 and 4, though, but it falls closer to the "round down" option to me than the "round up." The rating is based on the ending, because the pacing didn't seem at all right to me. I found the ending, where Diana went to get Zack back too abrupt - and there wasn't anything to hold up as an epilogue of sorts to show how she held up. As Liz and Diana's love stories were happening concurrently, I can sort of understand how that would happen, but I think it didn't do them justice.

I enjoyed all of this story - I really did - but I found the rush at the end to solve the heart ache of the women just too fast to be believed. I also kind of felt that there was a little too much going on - I was more interested in Logan and Liz many times than I was in the goings on of Diana and Zack. Poor little Jessica seemed like an afterthought, and she also seemed like being five or six was too young to have a lawyer for a sister and a supermodel.

I may give the next a shot, only just to see if there is something to show what happens to Zack and Diana as well as how Liz wins back Logan.

This Cinderella story set in Magnolia Falls tells the story of Diana Mathison. Always inferior to her breathtakingly beautiful step sister Liz, Diana has built a wall to protect her bruised heart. After a lifetime of comparing herself to Liz and falling short, Diana has broken away and created a new life in New York, away from the painful memories. After her parents shocking accident, Diana finds herself back home to face her past nemesis and finds life moved on and things are not as she remembered. Reunited with family, friends, and an old flame, Diana must build a new life with her sisters and bury the past where it belongs and look toward her future. Zack Connelly never forgot his consuming love for Diana. Not even his marriage to Hannah could erase Diana from his mind. Embracing this second chance to win her heart, he forges ahead hoping the “tenderness and love cultivated over a lifetime of friendship and shared experiences” will be in his favor. Regrets from his past interfere with his hopes for the future. “He didn’t deserve a second chance at love and happiness, but he was going to reach for it anyway.” This is a clean, fun, diverting, second-chance romance. While the pages are filled with steamy kisses and flirty encounters, the darker subject of anorexia is a pervasive undercurrent. I enjoyed reading as Liz makes a fresh start and Diana finds the love she deserves.

This isn't the worst writing I've ever read, but I can't call it good, either.

I received a free copy of this eBook in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I'll be honest, I gave up after the halfway mark. The writing isn't poor on its own, though it isn't interesting and the characters have almost no development. My biggest issue (writing-wise) was with the dialogue. Contractions - people use them. But not these characters. And no American is THAT proper. It makes the dialogue, which is already not stellar, seem wooden, robotic.

Aside from the writing, I've read unlikable protagonists before and been able to find a reason to keep reading. Not with this one. Diana is an insecure, shallow, almost goody-two-shoes, but without real merit, insufferable idiot. Beyond that, the story is unrealistic, given the background we're offered. The author has done little to make anything that happens believable or relatable. I may not be a huge fan of trashy romance novels, but I'll read one happily if the story takes me in and the characters are worthwhile - and the characters don't have to be likeable for me to want to read more, it's just that Diana is a failed attempt at just that.

I couldn't live with myself if I invested more time in this book.

This was promised to be a short, sweet, heartwarming story, and boy, did it deliver. Diana and Liz need to move back to Magnolia Falls when their parents pass away, and become the guardians of their little sister. Cue rekindled romance with high school crush, cue priority listing, and a whole lot of just get together already!!!

I would have liked to have found out why Liz and Mandy have mellowed out since their high school days, but I hope that this will be addressed in the sequel that follows Liz.

It's very well written and short, so I read it in one sitting. It is steady paced and family orientated. I will definitely read other books in this series.

I received this book for an honest review. So I honestly do not like to give a book a 2 star rating. The writing is ok in the book but I felt like this book lacked a lot of information and character building. I felt as though I was just reading words on the page without the connections to the characters. The storyline and bond that is told is great but I felt that there were too many holes in the story that did not make sense. The story is believable and certainly is a quick read. I felt like Diana's character lacked a lot of character building and depth to her story and the 2nd chance romance certainly lacked. I understand that the tragic accident of the 3 sisters parents helped them to grow and bond but there was a lack of dealing with all the previous issues that caused them to separate and grow apart.

To sum up my feelings, I did enjoy the overall story but really needed more. I felt as though there were multiple stories about the characters but yet it lacked the development which caused me to lack the character connection. Therefore, I finished this short story with a lot of information but yet felt discontent and wanted more.

Diana Mathison is a hard-working attorney on her way to making partner until her parents' airplane crashes off Martha's Vineyard. She and her step-sister Liz are forced to reconcile and move back to Magnolia Falls, Connecticut to receive their inheritance and get custody of their 5-year-old sister Jessica who they both adore. Diana has had very little to do with her supermodel step-sister since she caught her kissing her prom date, Zack, back in high school.

Liz knows she was a horrible brat to Diana back in high school, but doesn't know how to change it now -- especially when she has so many problems of her own to resolve.

Zack is widowed and needs to resolve some guilt and self-loathing before he can ever have a second chance with the only woman he's ever really loved.

This was a predictable story, but it was sweet and enjoyable.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked this book. It was full of romance and forgiveness. It is a shorter book which I was grateful for in the fact that there wasn't a lot of back and forth with the characters and their feelings for each other. They know they like each other and just honestly want to know if they can make things work with what is going on around them. There is the occasional heartache with the relationships and with the parents dying but for the most part it was uplifting and a nice change of pace to read something where so many good things happened. I liked how there was back story about the different characters full of hurt and anger but as time passed they forgave each other and were able to be better because of it. I just really like how they didn't hold grudges. It does have a bit of language and one or two steamier kissing scenes but a fun, quick read.

The book began pretty well, it was easy to get into the characters that were in the book. The storyline did then take on a predictable but flowing read. It was all rather predictable but in saying that enjoyable. There was not a time when I thought I wish that I was finished the book.
The characters could have been developed a bit further, as I felt that they were introduced quickly and briefly and the story steadily unfolded with not a lot of detail or thought put into more description of the characters and backgrounds.
In some respects it feels as if the book was missing or lacking detail and storyline.
I feel bad writing my previous few statements, as I was lucky to receive a free copy of this book in PDF format through Goodreads, however I wish to provide an honest review.

Diana and her step-sister Liz have to learn to work together and balance life after both of their parents die in a plane crash leaving their little sister in their care. After moving home, Diana is reunited with her lifetime crush and brother of her best friend, Zack. Always You is a fast paced clean romance that will have you staying up late at night to see if Diana and Zack can make things work. I loved that this book didn’t have a hundred pages of the two main characters going back and forth in their minds talking about how much they love the other person...I am sure many have read books like that. This is not one of them. This book follows a quick pace to get a resolution to the feelings many of the characters have including doubts and fears. I highly recommend taking a few hours and reading Always You.

This book was a sweet romance about childhood friends who fell in love with each other but neither recognized that the other was in love with them. Then just as the love is starting to be explored something happens to separate them. 10 years later they are back in the same town due to Diana losing her father and stepmother to a plane accident. She and her sister Liz moved back to town to raise their 5 year old sister. I was frustrated with Diana a lot of this book because I felt her reactions and fighting the romance were unreasonable and that she seemed to be so forgiving of everyone but Zach. I felt like her feelings were all over the place. I also thought the ending was rushed and did not quite work. I still liked the story enough that I would read Liz's story to see how Diana and Zach ended up.

Diana is the young career woman about to make partner at her law firm. Then comes the fateful phone call. Her father and step mother have died tragically. She is now a joint custodian for her much younger step sister with her other step sister. The problem is that Diana has been working so long hard she is estranged from her family. The past includes the love of her life, Zack, and a very competitive step sister, Liz. When
Diana comes home to take over her Father's firm and raise her little step sister....In the ten years Zack had married and then been widowed. He has moved his veterinary practice back home. There are still sparks and chemistry. But, there is lack of trust and misconceptions to keep everyone from sharing. Thank goodness for the little sister who needs daily interaction and communication. The story progresses beautifully!

I liked the general idea of this book. Difficult circumstances bring 3 sisters together in a way nothing else could, mending fences and healing hearts. We have flawed characters who do the best they can with what they're given. In that sense, this is a very real and entertaining book.

There were a few things that didn't add up to me, or that I didn't love. I won't point out specifics, for fear of spoilers.

The end was really abrupt. I turned the page and saw The End and thought, "What?" I kept flipping, hoping for an epilogue.

I hope there are more books and that this is the beginning of a series. I think there are a few loose ends that could be tied up. A few more characters that I'd like to meet and get to know their stories.

Thank you to the author for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Diana and Zack were in love for all of their youth. Then Diana catches her wicked step sister Liz in a lip lock with Zack. She never gives Zack a chance to explain, and avoids Liz for a lot of their adulthood. Fast forward to several years past high school and a tragedy strikes their family, where Diana and Liz are left to care for their 5 year old sister together. Diana and Zack get the opportunity to visit with each other, and try to see if they can forgive each other. Meanwhile Liz had changed her ways, and is very penitent but also has big problems of her own.
This book was good, but I would have loved to see it developed more. I enjoyed it though, and feel like it was worth the read.

A nice modern day contemporary novel with likeable characters and some not so likeable, but eventually you sympathize with some. It’s set in an interesting setting and had humor, warmth and you could read it at an interesting pace. You liked Diana Matheson who was a lawyer, who was on her way to becoming a senior lawyer at her law firm and you liked her family’s interesting dynamic though you didn’t warm up to the step-sister at first. She was something else. Zach who was Diana’s best friend brother was also nice, although he had his challenges. It had humor, sorrow, a little heart- break, and an adorable 5 year old. It's kind of the town you just might like to visit, so if you get a chance check it out and enjoy.

This was an easy sweet story, but lots of stuff going on. Two sisters have to pull together to deal with the unexpected death of their parents and take care of their very young little sister. They both move back home and deal with the tragedy. One of the sisters has an eating disorder and the other sister takes over her father’s law office and meets her old crush. I thought Zack was sweet and incredibly patient, all things considered. Liz was a seriously annoying sister and it took me awhile to like her. Everything gets tied up nice and easy, but not as thought provoking as I was expecting.

When Diana Mathisons’ parents are killed in a plane crash, she and her step-sister, Liz were named as heirs to the estate if they both relocated to Magnolia Falls to care for their little sister, Jessica. Diana and Liz never really got along during their youth but they both loved Jessica enough to try to make things work. When Liz nearly dies from an eating disorder, Diana calls in Logan, a therapist and eating coach to help her. Once back in Magnolia Falls, Diana can’t keep her distance from her best friend Jillians’ twin brother, Zachery. Well written with lots of drama and angst!

I received a free copy of the book in return for a review. This is a good book. It is a love story and a family story. We have Diana, Liz and Jessica, three sisters, who come together to make a family after the sudden death of their parents. We also have Diana and Zack. They were best friends when young who fell in love but through a misunderstanding, did not stay together. Now we get to see them have a second chance. The characters were very well written and likeable. It was easy to get close to them and root for happy endings. I recommend you read this!

This was such an amazing story of love, bonding, trials, loss, and sisterhood. There are so many trials in life that we all go through. Sometimes we feel like we are utterly alone, even though we have a support system. But, there is nothing better than family – especially sisters.

Sisters can make each other laugh and cry. They can make each other so mad that you want to pull your hair out or laugh so hard that you are crying. But when tragedy strikes, there is nothing better than having your sisters by your side. Sisters can get through anything together.

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest opinion. All opinions are mine.

First, I really appreciate that this was a clean book--no details of sleeping together, no swearing (there was one swear word, which was really out of the blue and kind of surprised me) or excessive drinking.

Just as I was really getting into the story, it ended! That was a surprise. I would like to see this as a full novel. I think Ms Roberts could have developed the characters more and had a more interesting story line if it was.

Man I was not a fan of the book. 95% of the whole thing is the main character's conversations with people which weren't even interesting. I feel like it would have used a lot more substance and I couldn't stand the guy, he was super weak and everyone seemed wishy-washy... Glad this one was free. The author could have done so much more with this story. There was one part that was an 'on the edge of your seat' moment but it lasted one page. ONE.

This was a cute quick read. The characters were more real then you get sometimes. When the girls parents die, they are all the 3 of them have left. The reality of losing both parents in one shot would be more then an emotional overload for anyone. I like that she had Diana break into tears randomly, because it really does happen like that when you lose someone. I liked Zack too. He was just a good guy all around. It didn't always read super smoothly, but overall, it was good and I enjoyed the book.

It was an enjoyable read! The characters are well drawn and the story is believable. Three sisters are suddenly orphaned and the oldest two (who had been estranged) must come together to raise their much younger sister. They have several problems to deal with (anorexia, new job, ...) as well as the re-blossoming of an old romance.
As soon as I catch up on my TBR list, I will read the next book in the series.
