Emmanuel Guibert has written a great many graphic novels for readers young and old, among them the Sardine in Outer Space series and The Professor’s Daughter with Joann Sfar.
In 1994, a chance encounter with an American World War II veteran named Alan Cope marked the beginning of a deep friendship and the birth of a great biographical epic.
Another of Guibert's recent works is The Photographer. Showered with awards, translated around the world and soon to come from First Second books, it relates a Doctors Without Borders mission in 1980’s Afghanistan through the eyes of a great reporter, the late Didier Lefèvre.
Guibert lives in Paris with his wife and daughter.
Sardine in Outer Space 2 is a just as fun as the first book, Sardine in Outer Space.
Kids will love the colorful pictures and the imagination of the artist, Joann Sfar. The tales by Emmanuel Guibert are fun and quick and I love the short-story format, each story being only ten pages long.
Supermuscleman and Doc Kroc are great bad guys that are not as competent as they seem to think they are. In fact, they really aren't scary at all and are rather horrible villains, but that what makes them funny.
As for Sardine, the heroine of this book, she is always ready to battle the evil-doers and have goodness prevail. With the help of her black cat, which always resides on top of her hat, her best friend Little Louie, and Captain Yellow Shoulder, there is nothing she cannot do. She is a great role-model for young girls as she is always figuring out how to be strong and prevail in terrible situations.
Overall, Sardine in Outer Space 2 is a wonderful graphic novel and I cannot wait to see what kind of trouble she gets into next in Sardine in Outer Space 3.
My review is:in mix and migel suit it was funny because supermuscleman punched the audionce in the face. in the brain washing machine i loved when yellow sholder suprised supermuscleman with his toxiwash then brianwashed doc krok, supermuscleman and professor HACKALACK but when supermuscleman brianwashed sardine and the other kid's it did not work because it was not toxiwash it was pink lemolade and the toxiwash was in the kids wepons then after that they put the toxiwash back in brianwashing machine and brianwashed the bad guys. review by dangelo st.arromand in p.s.183 class 4-501
This was more even than the first volume of Sardine stories. Some were excellent, but several were very much mixed, and I think it suffered from the absence of Supermuscleman--the villian of the series--in severaI of the stories. Once again I read this to the children who seemed to like it as much as before.
This graphic novels series is new to me, I look forward to recommending this series to kids who are Wimpy Kid fans. This series is funny, filled with action and adventure, and great characters! Kids are going to love the unfolding stories in this series.
