Juno Frost is not your average man. As part owner of Dirty South Vibe, one would think that he was simply the hottest producer in the South, but Juno was far from just good at sending artists to the number one spot on the charts. June, as they called him, was one of the biggest plugs in the south. He and his brother, Jy, supplied all of Georgia, North & South Carolina, Virginia and Florida. That alone had the streets talking and enemies lurking. Even with their celebrity status, June and Jy were too deep in the game to let it go. Money was good and the respect made it even better. On a chance meeting, June encounters Serenity and knows that he’s found his future wife. Problem is, she wants nothing to do with him. Even after she finds out who he is and what he's about, the fact that she couldn’t care less makes him want her even more. Serenity Lewis grew up rough. She had very little, so she did whatever necessary to make things happen. At an early age, she became accustomed to what life in the streets meant, and for her it was a combination of love and loss. After losing the one man she ever really counted on at only eighteen to a drug war, Serenity decided that life wasn't for her, so she worked hard doing any and everything she could to find a way out. Now, six years later, she owned her own interior design business, Serenity Spot, and the life she lived before was a distant memory. That’s one of the reason why she refuses to even consider giving June a chance. The celebrity part she can deal with, even though that’s not really appealing to her, but his illegal activities are what have her on the fence. Jy Frost, the other half of Dirty South Vibe was a wild card. He ran things with his brother, both legal and illegal. The two of them had more money and fame than they could deal with, but the one thing that Jy wanted and he couldn't seem to get was Nixon, an up and coming artist that they were working with. Nixon was smart, cool as hell, and all about her business. Not to mention she had the looks to match it. Problem was, one drunk night put her and Jy’s brother June together for a one-night stand that neither of them remember. Jy is willing to look past that to give her a chance, but the problem is Nixon doesn’t seem to want it. Will June win Serenity over? Will Jy convince Nixon to let the past be the past? It's true what they say, more money more problems, and June and Jy are living examples of the cliché. Add in their illegal activities, and you have a twisted tale of love, loss, and drama, that will have you begging for more.

Now I will say it again and again, I am a die-hard KC Mills fan. So you are probably wondering, WHY 4-stars then?? Okay I will tell you give me a minute LOL. The book is centered around a set of twins June and Jy Frost and the women that they want to become a part of their lives, Nixon and Serenity. From the onset of the book you see these guys have hardened exteriors and for the most part they could care less about what anyone feels or thinks if they aren't an important factor in their lives. What we see is that they are ruthless to a fault but highly intelligent men. They run a lucrative production company and an even more lucrative drug distribution company from the heart of Atlanta. The women that they have cast their focus on are both equally accomplished. Nixon is a singer who is smart about her business and is equally as talented on and off the stage. Serenity is an interior designer who has had a few scars to shape her outlook but she doesn't allow anything or anyone to deter her from being successful in her own right. Now one of the things that I love about a KC Mills' story is the fact that I don't have to worry about several aspects that are commonly found in some urban fiction novels: Side Chicks and Abusive men who have problems with putting their hands on women. Those elements don't exist in the world of K.C. Mills' thankfully!! What I look forward to is the loving relationship that her characters develop with one another and the depth of their emotion that seems to bleed from the pages. This is where my issues come in. For the majority of the book we watched as Jy and Nixon played a game of cat and mouse tip toeing around their feelings for one another. Nixon comes across as hypocritical in many ways because she consistently hollers that she doesn't want Jy to hurt her but she is in a whole live relationship with another man. I was steady screaming out HEIFER, WHAT THE HECK DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T WANT HIM TO HURT YOU, YOU BETTER NOT HURT HIM!!!(Y'all know I'm a little coo-coo- for cocoa puffs LOL) Then we have Serenity and June. Serenity is seemingly hung up on the events that transpired in her past when she was dealing with a corner boy. For someone who used to be in the life she doesn't seem to be able to appreciate the fact that she isn't dealing with a low-level corner boy hustler. She is dealing with THA PLUG and he has 2 phones(I said that in my Kevin Gates voice LMBO) AT any rate we don't really see them get together until well after we pass the 70% mark of the book. Yes June bogarded his way into Serenity aka Ren's life but the physical nature of their relationship didn't transpire until the very end. This same fact holds true with Nixon and Jy. There was just a great deal of angst that in my opinion in many ways took away from the story line. As for Serenity's sister, Rachel, that heifer can get the "paws." (Look at me sounding like I'm about that life LOL; Don't play wit' it I am LMBO) I digress. She was the very essence of skank, hussy, trash, sideline ho, heifer, all of those epitaphs rolled into one!! At the end of the day this devious chick was hell-bent on making Jy be with her after she was passed around to the crew. I just screamed at my kindle in my most ratchet voice, "BIH, WHERE THEY DO THAT AT?" I'm just saying!!! Did she really think that ANYONE would want that overused and under-valued stuff she was carting around between her legs?? Again I ask, "BIH, WHERE THEY DO THAT AT?" Don't get me started on the "wolf in sheep's clothing" Sorrin. I had to cry out to Big Baby Jesus and tell him to take the whole car because that heifer right there could get it!!! But you know what I have to blame June for being so arrogant about the situation and not handling it prior to taking Serenity with him to Miami. I really wanted to go through the book and slap him in the back of the head and say, "Why did your overgrown behind do a fool thing like that?" Overall the book was good. It was longer than what I have become accustomed to for a K.C. Mills read but that didn't take away from the essence of the story. Why the 4 stars you ask? Well I will tell you. I think that while the story was good it's not the best that Ms. Mills' has written. I think that there was an over-abundance of details that could have been taken away and others added to give us a bigger glimpse into the evolution of the couples relationships. Do I recommend this read? ABSOLUTELY!! Will I be on pins and needles waiting for the next release? WHAT YOU TALKING ABOUT?? YASSSSS!!! I'm going to be like a crackhead looking for the last rock that I smoked 2 hours ago waiting on the upcoming release of Ms. Mills book(too much?? yeah I'm dramatic sue me). Okay back to the review, GO AND GET THIS!! That's all that I can say. Ms. Mills is born for this it is without a shred of doubt in my mind that some people type words onto paper and end up with a perfectly crafted manuscript without errors or mistakes but the words on the paper don't ignite a single solitary emotion in you when you read them. And then you have the Ms. Mills' in this industry; every word that she types solicits an emotional response that you are unable to tap down, hide, or stray away from because the power that they possess keep you captivated and imprisoned until you reach the very last word in the book. Kudos Ms. Mills!!! Keep churning them out and I'm going to keep right on reading them!!!
I'm not invested... I was totally all up in it and then it was just sorta ... I dont know.
I will say... If the book was just about June and Ren.... I probably would have been all in it. I am not invested in Jy and Nixon storyline at all.
I know this is probably a build up to the next book... but I have a feeling Ren is going to drag the absolute shit out of this and that is why I am not rushing to book 2.
sigh
Imma get with book 2 and feel it out a bit... I am all down for her being pissed, hell every angry but I can't deal with page after page after page of it... hey I could be completely wrong... so we shall see!
Enjoyed the read, could’ve done without the drug side of things because it really wasn’t the focus of the book so that kind of took away from things. The relationship between the two seemed to be moving but I found myself more interested in Nixon and what was going on with them. Hopefully we’ll find out just what is standing in their way and it will be entertaining enough to read another one.
Both twins got sideline chicks that steady messing up what they tryna build with other ladies. Jy and his temper is funny and Nixon loves him but is it enough to leave Levi, idk. Serenity looking for an easy way out and getting her business burned down by a side line thot might provide the escape she was looking for, on to book 2
I️ can already see now Sorrie is a problem that should’ve been handled. Who tf burned down Ren’s office? Nixon need to figure out how to leave Levi behind cuz he’s another problem
I want to say this is the first book I've actually had a chance to read by K.C. even though I may own a few. There were some errors but the story was so good that the mistakes didn't even pose a problem. June was persistent once laying his eyes on Serenity and went above and beyond because he realized she was the one for him. I liked Serenity and the fact she wasn't anything like her sister once finding out just who June was. Now her ex is just as trifling as they come and I'm glad June didn't hesitate putting him in his place. Jy stay bugging with his rude ass but that didn't make me like him any less. He had it bad for Nixon and even though most dudes wouldn't deal with her after what she'd done, he did didn't allow her past to change his feelings. I do hope Nixon gets it together and stops feeling as if she owes Levi. Soiree instantly rubbed me the wrong way and I can't wait until she meets the other side of June for not staying in her lane. I can't wait for part 2 and see what June has up his sleeves after Serenity got that call.I'm hoping Serenity finds out who is behind trying to hurt her, June shows Soiree the other side of him for continuing to try him, Jy succeeds in getting what he wants from Nixon, and Nixon finally realizes her happiness means more than what she thinks she owes someone.
June and Jy are a brother team killing the music world. Serenity trip at the mall lands June on her radar but she brushes him off. Ren is a boss on her independent ish but has a h** sister name Raquel he just chases ballers. June like the chase in serenity but she doesn't want a chance with a drug dealer because of her past life. Jy is hit maker but has a crush on their artist Nixon but she has complicated business manager. An award show in Miami brings drama for Ren an June when he has a stalker that Americas love sending Ren into the spotlight of the paparazzi.Nixon and Jy explore their feelings. Can't wait to see how the drama continues on.
I read this book in one sitting. KC Mills never ceases to amaze me with her storylines. June and Jy, are definitely not the ones to play with. They take charge and go after what they want. The definition of the true alpha male. Serenity and Nixon have both met their match with these two. So begins the twists and turns with a touch of drama thrown in. My only problem with this read is that it came to an end, and now I have to wait for part 2. Hopefully the wait won't be too long
I'm a little behind on one of my favorite authors series and I can see I've been missing out just as I figured. She has done it again with characters that she brings to life and makes you feel like you know them or want to. The Frost brothers are a trip but it's hard not to fall in love with them both as I'm sure Ren n Nixon will soon find out. I hope they get it together and become the power couples they should be. I'm onto the next to find out. Great writing again Ms. Mills.
K.C. stay dropping them bangers! I like June and Jy but June is my favorite, Serenity has to open up more it seems she always have negative thoughts referring to June. She's starting to get more comfortable with him, I have a feeling she's going to put a wall back up bc of when just happened to her business.....Nixon needs to get rid of Levi Idc what he's done for her she's not obligated to be with him, she better do it quick but for Jy steps in and do it his own way.
KC Mills has yet again showed how talented and gifted she is. A different kind of storyline that, yet again caught our attention. Have us wanting more, not wanting the story to end as we only want more and more. Every story, it's own uniqueness, keeping you entertained and intrigued and hungry for more. Can't wait for part two. Loved it!
All Hail to K.C. Mills she done did the damn thing again. K.C. and her Alpha men they are a force to be reckoned with. These twin brothers are some thing else. I refuse to give away the book like everyone else in my review but just know you won't be disappointed. If you like a strong, take charge man K.C. Mills is the author for you.
Once again K.C Mills hads done it again. I loved the fact that Serenity had a good head on her shoulder and her job was her pride and joy. June I actually like him but I can't wait for him to deal with Sorrie. I can't wait for part 2 I'm curious to see who did what.
I really like June with his Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde vibe. He is crazy about Serenity. He pursued her with a vengeance. I didn't like Jy very much because he was always on 10, except when it came to Nixon that it is. I hope everything works out for both couples. I look forward to reading part 2.
KC you gives us some good ass book Baes. I am loving June and Jy. These twin brothers are so fine. The boss that they are they need strong women beside them. I love Serenity with June. Maybe we will see a side of Serenity nobody knows about from her used to being in the streets. Nixon needs to get a backbone and get away from Levi to be with Jy. Hurry up with pt 2.
I liked this story. I don't think the title really fits the story though. Serenity and June are gonna to end up being my favorite couple. I like Jy and Nixon as well. Levi is gonna cause them some problems. I think that either Serenity's ex or her sister burned down her business. Can't wait for part two.
Wow! Ms. Mills is killing it with series after series and this was another page turner. I'm loving the story and the characters. I read this nonstop because I couldn't put it down. If you love a good Thug/Love story, you'll love this one. Part 2 is calling me right now.
I think Ren sister had something to do with her business. Sorrie needs help I don't understand how she's supposed to be America sweetheart when we don't nothing about her. June and Jy are both bae's. I hope Nixon get it straight.
This book was good well written the couples well paired but have a lot of unfinished issues drama from beginning to end page turner intense story we'll written so eagerly awaiting continuation
I love June with his cocky ass. He's perfect for Ren's stuck up butt. I really hope June make Sorrie crazy suffer for coming at Ren wrong. And Jy and Nixon would be good together. But she better hand Levi before Jy crazy self does. And I simply don't trust Rachel!
I really liked how this story was told. It wasn't a whole bunch of back and forth with you slept with her I'm leaving but I'm taking you back nonsense. It was about two no nonsense guys that played no games when it came to the women they wanted. I can't wait for part two.
I truly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Loved the writing style as always. Anxious to see how all these Relationships play out because from the ending, it's going to be plenty of drama.
This is another good read! I do hope to get one long book, start to finish, that way I don't have to wait for the next book. I thoroughly enjoy KC Mills books so I will wait. I do recommend.
Yesssssssss!!! A much needed read. This book will have you on the edge of your seat, not able to put it down. The author does a great job from beginning to end. Leaving you saying YESSSS!!!!! and wanting more. Well written with just the right amount of drama.
I couldn't not put this book down! This book was good from start to finish. I did feel bad for Serenity. I'm was glad that one of the main characters actually had a job and was independent.
You are so good at what you do. I look forward to reading all of your books. Can't wait till the next book drops. These twins are something else and I hope these women can balance them out.
