While the day belongs to humans, the night belongs to yokai, supernatural creatures that thrive on human fear. Caught between these worlds is Rikuo Nura. He's three-quarters human, but his grandfather is none other than Nurarihyon, the supreme commander of the Nura clan, a powerful yokai consortium. So, Rikuo is an ordinary teenager three quarters of the time, until his yokai blood awakens. Then Rikuo transforms into the future leader of the Nura clan, leading a hundred demons.
The Nura clan and their allies encounter a veritable forest of a thousand Torii Gates on their way to find the lost seals of Hidemoto. There, Awashima is transported to another dimension and trapped, diminishing the clan’s numbers. She’ll have to fight a powerful yokai before she can attempt to escape. And Rikuo and the others could be at the mercy of a yokai capable of using the thousand Torii Gates to form a massive labyrinth from which they will never escape.
After a chaotic journey and a surprise enemy attack, Rikuo and the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons finally touch down in Kyoto to defeat Hagoromo-Gitsune. Upon their arrival, they discover ominous pillars of power spread throughout the city. Realizing that the situation is far worse than they imagined, the Nura Clan immediately set out for the Fushime Inari Shrine where the first seal is located.
Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan, Vol. 11: Torii Labyrinth is filled with battle after battle. From the attack against the ship to Awashima succumbing to the Torii Labyrinth to the final major battle at the end with Rikuo going up against the unstoppable Tsuchigumo - the fighting never ends.
Although this volume is action-packed, I didn't find it particularly exciting. It is still a fun, enjoyable read but it feels like this volume is setting up for some major events to come. There are a few standout moments from the battles. I'm really enjoying the dynamic between Itaku and Kubinashi. I also find Shoei's strength to be impressive and hope we find out more about him in the future.
I have to say, seeing Rikuo lose his cool while enraged over what Tsuchigumo has done to Yuki-Onna was a nice change from the Mr. Nice Guy role he always plays. I hope to see him super pissed in the next volume. The flashback of Rikuo's father speaking to Kubinashi has me very curious as well, and I hope he makes another appearance soon.

The Nura clan finally reaches Kyoto and encounters many adversaries. This volume is full of battle scenes and doesn't advance the plot all that much except to get them oriented in the right direction for their next plan of action. Finding the lost seals seems to be the important goal to defeating Hagoromo-Gitsune. The addition of Hidemoto, an heir from 400 years ago in the past is an exciting development. I read the volume quickly as it was a lot of battles, which are not my favourite part of shounen. I like the action, but they go on for way too many pages and I find them hard to follow. So not the best volume, but the ending is intense and sets the scene for the next volume.
