He finds what he things will be the perfect place for some solitary thoughts but he is instead thrust in the middle of two warring clans.

A murder has been committed and both sides are demanding answers. What’s worse is that no matter what that answer is, the two clans will likely go to bloody battle with each other and bring down William and anyone else in the vicinity with them. To top it all off, both clans are families of werewolves and neither group in particular has humanity’s best interests at heart. In order to save his fellow man, stave off a bloody civil war and get paid, William has to figure out who the murderer was, why the person did it, and how to stop it from happening again. I'm a freelance writer/instructor currently living in north-central British Columbia. I also enjoy playing video games (particularly RPGs and tactics games like Fire Emblem as well as the Mario/Kirby games), reading, hiking, taking care of animals, and shopping (on occasion). I would love to someday be able to make a full (or nearly full) living purely from writing fiction, but at least I'm fortunate enough to be able to work as a writer at all at this point.

It’s official that I’m addicted to the stories in this series! Seeing what William Tenys is up to has become part of my routine- picking up this book has been one of my favorite parts of my day! After I finished this novella, I quickly grabbed the next three in the series. I’m dying to know what happens next! For a shorter book, it has a lot: a mystery to solve, great characters, action around every corner and… *BONUS*: Werewolves! So fun to read and I can’t wait to see what William gets into next!

In book 3 of The Fairy Tale Case Files, William Tenys is completely out of his element. After spending his entire life in the old city, he ends up in a small village in the woods. It doesn't help that he has walked right into another mystery, and he's in over his head this time. He manages to survive in this foreign world and cracks the case, but ends up with a rather important souvenir that will change his future direction.

Can hardly wait for book 4, which I'm promised is coming soon.

Mattson shifts gears and takes our detective out of the city. The result is less noir, and more horror/fantasy, but this is where it becomes important to read this series in order.

Blood Moon Rising is the 3rd book in the Fairy Tale Case Files and I must begin by saying it has been my absolute favourite out of the three books that I have read so far. I literally could not put it down and read the novella in one sitting! The story begins with private investigator William Tenys who is taking a much needed vacation in the country after his previous two case files in Altria City. Sadly for William his vacation is short lived when he becomes embroiled in the affairs of two warring werewolves clans after one of the clan’s members is savagely murdered. William has to solve the case before the next full moon when the clans are at their full strength and blood lust in order to stop them killing each other and the unfortunate villagers who are living in the middle of the two territories.

The plot moves at a great pace, and there are some great twist and turns in the story along the way. The cast of characters introduced are very likeable and easy to form a connection with, and the author keeps you guessing throughout as to who committed the murder and importantly why? I shall not say anymore so as not to give any spoilers away.

There are no significant editorial issues and nothing to distract the reader from the story. Quite the opposite as the narrative is engaging and will keep readers entertained and turning the pages.

I thoroughly enjoyed and I am awarding 5 stars.

A third Fairy Tale Novella by Charlene Mattson is Blood Moon Rising. Having solved two cases and suffered a broken heart in the last one, he’s off on vacation in the country. He’s suddenly drawn into a war between two werewolf clans over the murder on one of their daughters. The rush is on to solve the case of whodunit and why before the next full moon when both clans will be ready to go to war and are likely to destroy each other and any villager who gets in the way. There are a lot of unpredictable points and surprises so if I told more it would be a spoiler. I’ll just say, read and enjoy!
