I've been meaning to read this book since early last year, so I'm very pleased that I finally managed to get round to doing so.
The major stand out factor of Joey's book to me is how personal it is. To read it feels like you are having a conversation with the Author which I think is fantastic.
In this Memoir Joey tells many stories/experiences of his Childhood, his Friends and his work. These stories take you on a roller coaster of emotions, some are funny and lighthearted and other are quite heartbreaking. But things that struck me was how the Author managed to make a lot of his tales relatable, and he goes as far as offer help and suggestions for those are going through/feeling the same things which I thought is such a kind, supportive thing to do for his viewers.
Like many of the books I've read I didn't want this one to end, but this time it was for a different reason, because it felt like my one-one-one conversation with Joey was ending. But alas, as the saying goes 'All good things must come to an end'.
I come away from this book feeling as though I have actually met Joey and related with him, which is so very heart-warming.
I really enjoy this book because he explains little details in his book like when he was in school and at home, or like when his mom was drunk and little details he explains in his book. What I think is really unique about his book is that he included his favorite things or tips in a section at the end of each chapter, like 'how to deal with bullies' or 'movie actors I would date' and stuff like that, which I really enjoy to read in this book. Joey was very open about his life and problems that he faced, like how his mom would come home drunk, and how he would get bullied because people thought he was gay and how he had to go into special classes because of his learning problem. I like how Joey included pictures of his childhood and of him with his friends like Megan., or his sister. I like how he included pictures of his fans with picture with his they took and sent to him to put in his book, I really wish I was in there honestly.... Overall I love this book just because his life is so exiting and has a lot of plot-twists, even though it is a sad story of his life, I still like reading In Real Life Of Joey Graceffa.
