Can’t. Stop. Reading. This. Series!!!! This again was so full of action and tension it was unbelievable. Thumbs up for keeping such a long series so interesting!
I was given the opportunity to read this book pre-release, and I must say, it is another wonderful installment in the Collapse Series. Full of action and a brand new setting for most of the book. New characters are introduced, giving a fresh new dynamic to the story, and old characters cross paths again bringing new light to the state of the world. It was interesting to be given a glimpse into how other parts of this destroyed country are handling the collapse. I feel like certain details were glossed over a little bit, and some more detail would have been enjoyable, but all in all, another heart pounding journey for Cassidy and the others. While I was disappointed certain characters weren't prominent in this book, I understand why that is the case, and luckily they are not left completely absent from the story ( I don't want to say more because I don't want to spoil it).
Title: State of Fear (Collapse series book 8) Author: Summer Lane Rating: 5 Stars!! Synopsis: Welcome back to post collapse California where Cassidy Hart and her troops are still desperately trying to survive Omega's invasion. We have learned of yet another secret military stronghold this time in the cold waterfront wilderness of a remote Alaskan town hidden from society and seemingly out of Omega's vast reach. Cassie thinks it could be the answer to her prayers and she is willing to risk everything she cares about to find out if she is right. Review: I have said it before and I will say it again I love Summer Lane's apocalypse! This crazy world she has created just gets better the further we delve into it and State of Fear is no exception. Cassidy has grown so immensely over the course of this series and in this book more than any I think her strength as a leader and fighter and just an over all good guy hero is showcased even more than ever. The cast of supporting characters around her that I gave grown to love are back and just as awesome and interesting as ever (that bomb Uriah dropped toward the end though! can't wait to see that thing explode!") I love how the personal relationships in these books are always there even though they are almost never the center focus of the story when you do get truly personal moments between two characters I think it lends a sense of realism to this war we are watching unfolded that I never could have imagined. Not to say that Summer can't still make me swoon all over some Chris Young because there was a moment there when I thought I was going to melt into a puddle of mushy love goo...and then I remembered that Omega was still out there and that this fight is no where near won!
So far State of Fear is the best book in series. I have read it over and over again. The one thing that I can't get over is how obsessed Uriah is with Cassie. He needs to stop and get over her. Because Cassie and Chris will be together forever.
freaking fantastic series and it keeps getting better!!!!! I again have nothing bad to say. Story keeps evolving and getting better..... btw I loooooooooooooove Manny
