THIS IS THE THIRD INSTALLMENT IN THIS SERIES and CAN STAND ALONE. Book 2 is recommended to read first. The Story of ALPHA, CALL, OMEGA & LION ALONG WITH A COUPLE OTHER FAVORITES
It’s been a couple years since Commander John Marion – the US Navy’s most decorated SEAL – hung up his dog tags, choosing his cherished Alpha over war.
Call and Alpha have settled comfortably into their carefree lives nestled in the mountains of South Carolina. No more combat for the Commander and no more ordered killings for the deadliest assassin in the world.
However, nothing stays peaceful forever.
When Alpha’s brother Omega comes to their secluded home with a distressing message from their Order, Alpha has to answer the call. But what neither of them expect is for the Order to send them a new assassin, one just as deadly as both of them, to seek their counsel and bring them back Persia.
Lion’s commanding presence was not at all what any of them anticipated. Especially Omega. Lion realizes what Omega is to him right away, but the stubborn man fights his every advance. Lion knows he and Omega have to connect if they’re going to be victorious. He was sent to bring back an army but if he can’t get his cherished to yield to him, they are sure to fail.
Call refuses to let Alpha fight a gang of rebel assassins without him. Omega will fight by his brother’s side, no matter what… and Hawk saw them coming for his help before anyone else. Together they’ll fight the toughest opponents they’ve ever faced. As always… these badass warriors are up for the challenge.

All I can say is wow! This book was everything I hoped it would be. Alpha is still the ultimate badass and it was nice to see Omega get his happy ending. There was a twist in the plot that surprised and saddened me, but it was fitting. I am just so sad to see this series end. I hope there will be a novella, or something because I can't leave the Beastmasters behind. A.E. Via writes the most wonderful characters. From the funny to the damaged and vulnerable war heroes, I love them all!! I will be rereading this multiple times. Now I can't wait for the next book in the Nothing Special series!
Wow. Let me start by saying that I'm an AE Via fan. Period. Unfortunately, this one missed the mark. First the positives: I dug the cover. Niiiiice. Okay, that said, here's what irked me to no end: 1) Omega (who was a serious badass in book 2) was a whiny, immature, pathetic bitch that everyone tiptoed around ... not attractive; 2) the alphas (Alpha, Hawk, and Lion) were ridiculously so over-the-top alpha that it totally undermined their reason for being together (i.e., because the middle Eastern assassins needed help); 3) if you go to a foreign country and are lucky enough to solicit the help of their elite forces, show some godamn courtesy and respect; 4) related to point #3, don't bash America when you're in the country seeking help because your holier-than-thou mystery "Order" is so corrupt you can't trust anyone; and 5) the plot twist at the end was unbelievable even for AE Via - whose storylines regularly require the reader to suspend almost all belief.
The chemistry is off the charts as usual with A.E. Via. She is my guilty pleasure. I'm just a little bit disappointed. I thought this book was more about Call and Alpha. The title spoke for itself. But unfortunately it's more about Lion and Omega. Yes, yes, they're great too. But I still want more of Alpha and Call. Oh well, it's okay. :)
Last but not least. Do not read this as standalone. At least read book #2 first if you don't want to read the book #1.
Reading the blurb here, it says this book can stand alone in BIG BOLD LETTERS. but then the very next line, it says it is recommended to read book 2 first. So which one is it, and WTF is up with putting that in the blurb?
THIS IS THE THIRD INSTALLMENT IN THIS SERIES and CAN STAND ALONE. Book 2 is recommended to read first.
I couldn't give up on this series, even if I did only like about a third of the characters. I have always loved A.E. Via's books...but somehow this trilogy just didn't do it for me. I cannot begin to imagine the time and the effort it must have taken the author to write these three books. I don't intend to be a sexist...and I apologize if I've offended anyone...but I really believe this is diffidently a "Mostly Guy" type of series. Anyone that can put up with over-the-top heroes and villains will find this trilogy a gift hand delivered on a silver platter. If there hadn't been some really hot sexy scenes in the story, I would have thought these men hated everyone and everything. If you want to tackle it, you really should read the first two books before this one...although they could all be read as standalones. All the books were well written. There is a pleather of solid action and lots of people and things getting blown up. It's not a bad book or a bad series. A.E. Via could not write a bad or uninteresting book if she tried. While I didn’t love it as much as the other series that she has written...it was still entertaining with a perfectly acceptable and believable ending to the Blue Moon saga.
I've always loved A.E. Via's men; they always had me feeling all sort of stuff. I was either melting, chuckling or getting teary-eyed.
But this particular book, unfortunately, didn't do much for me. Something was missing.
I'll try not to spoil it, though I do recommend you read the previous books first before you dive into this one. It will make more sense, plus those are better developed. This one - like the others - has two main couples finding their HEA. Or well, they should. Problem is, it seems one of them already has, because it's a fast-forward for these two guys, we're taken two years ahead, where we're shown how they still have insecurities, while the other couple is just now starting from scratch.
The two-couple-one-book thing seemed to have worked in the past, but with this one, it just seemed like it was all crammed into one, unfortunately. It was also slow, it took me several days to finish, because I was always distracted by something else and would put it aside, forget about it. I didn't hate it. I actually liked seeing some of the old characters. But it wasn't as good as the previous books and I can't rate it more than 2.5 - 3 stars.
I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review. Thank you.
I admit, I wasn't exactly patiently waiting this installment...and I wondered will we ever read it. But, you know what, if AE Via delivers every time like this, she can make us wait however long she wants. And did she deliver...probably the only author in this genre who can make me buy a story about assassins who kill only for the greater good and who value honour and duty above everything else...in the 21st century. Get what I'm saying? But really, as I said, probably the only author who can make me suspend my disbelief that much.
Anyway...back to what's important - Alpha&Call. They were...simply everything. Everything I expected and so much more. The love they had for each other ("I would die without you" kind), the passion between them...they were explosive, hot, potent, passionate and I really couldn't ask for more. Except more on page time, but I get why author had to give more pages to Lion&Omega - the relationship between them couldn't be rushed, and Omega certainly didn't help with his childish behaviour. But he made progress after he and Lion got together, and eventually I warmed up to him.
While I normally would have given this 5 stars 3 things stop me: 1. Bad editing 2. the ending seemed forced, not so much a twist more like Via didn't want to continue the series and got rid of the last man standing 3. The betrayal didn't seem believable to me. As close and as much of a team as they were seriously money? I could have gotten behind maybe secretly being in love with one and driven crazy but money? Nope not buying it. Oh and I have no idea how this is supposed to be standalone you can do it...just like I can cut off my toe and still walk...should I?

First of all can we all agree this cover is Great and is perfect for this story and couple. AE is one of my favorite MM authors and she doesn't disappoint me again with the 3rd and final book in the Blue Moon series. This series is all hot alpha men who fight for what is right. They are all killers but when they fall in love they fall hard. Call and Alpha got together in a prior book but now we see some more of their story plus Omega and Lion They are the main couple in this tale and boy are they hot together. Omega is Alpha's brother and we meet him in the last book when he was the villain. He needed his brother and Alpha came to his aid. Omega is lost and alone when Alpha and Call move away. He doesn't belong in American and misses his homeland. when Lion comes and seeks Alpha's help, he finds Omega and knows his has found his soul mate. Omega fights the attraction but when he gives in to his need for Lion the sparks fly. AE takes you on a complete journey from the first page in this book until the last page. I always find myself wanting more and cant wait for the next book from her. It has everything you want in a book action, suspense, conflict, love and hot scenes. She has a way of writing that you cant wait to find out how these 2 men fall in love and find their forever. This is the last book in this series and I find myself still hoping there will be more from this group of guys. I will miss them all and glad they all got the HEA. Congrats to AE and another well written and thought out story. Received an ARC from author for a review. Reviewed by Jodi for Alpha Book Club.
Loved the first two books. The 3 rating is because of:
1) Lack of a continuity in Call and Alpha's story from book 2. I like them together, I'm just scratching my head on how their characters morphed from book 2 to book 3. 2) Omega was not the same character we met in book 2. In this book, he was a whiny, petulant brat. 3) There was no need for the final plot twist. I felt like one character in particular was thrown under the bus. His betrayal isn't credible and it also damages your perception of book 1 and 2.
Omega was a badass in all of book 2 then in this book he’s whiny and insecure. Okay 🙄
Idk why the author bothered with book 1 (which I actually really enjoyed) when you don’t really much of them in 2 and nowhere in 3. Why not just focus on the Beastmasters the entire trilogy?
There is SO MUCH going on. POV switches at a moments notice and doesn’t flow well.
Viper being the traitor didn’t make sense. Especially for money.
Apparently, I don't just yell at screens. I also have one sided conversations with books. This one had me in aw so sweet mode. Onto that dude is a butt. Then why so rude. I knew you liked Nora Robert's. Her trilogies are awesome. But I prefer her, "In Death" books. That ending was inspired!
Hope to read more about the Order, God's crew, The Devil spies and the Bounty Hunters. This world is so overwhelming!
This was a long anticipated and well done wrap up of a series that I have thoroughly enjoyed.
This author is well known for her hard assed alpha figures who fight and love hard and go all in when they meet their ‘one’. The Beastmasters may now be a defunct unit but when they are needed to help out the Order they sink easily back into their roles. I liked that the fighting and the taking down of the rebel Order members took backstage to the relationships – firstly between Call and Alpha and then between Omega and Lion.
When the mysterious Lion turns up on Call and Alpha’s doorstep asking for help in saving their beloved Order Alpha can’t turn his back on him even if he is no longer an assassin. Lion thought his task was to gather a small army of men to defeat the rebels but as soon as he sets eyes on Omega he knows he was sent for more. It would appear Lion and Omega’s crossing of paths was planned a long time ago but Omega is not happy about it – he is struggling with his feelings, he hates no longer working for the Order and he misses the closeness he had with his brother Alpha. The dynamics between Lion and Omega are intense whilst a battle of wills plays out.
Alpha left the Order when he found Call. They live in seclusion and all they really need is each other. Determined to never let his guard down Alpha trains often with the man he loves determined that they will always be safe and have the upper hand. Dragged back into a dangerous situation they are more than prepared but Call fights against it initially not wanting any harm to come to the man he loves.
The Order assassins find themselves teamed up with the Beastmasters to flush out the rebels and serve a swift and harsh justice to them all. There is lots of on page time spent with the previous characters from this series and the ending wrapped everything up nicely. If you haven’t started this series I would highly recommend it.
I have to say after waiting almost two years for the third book in this series I have to say I'm left feeling a little bit disappointed with this story. The title of the book is "Blue Moon III: Call of the Alpha" Although we did get some of Call and Alpha's story... I don't think I quite got the full story. I feel like this book was lacking compare to the other two previous books.
After being introduced to Call in Alpha in "Blue Moon II: This is Reality" I was expecting another scorching hot story like Hawk and Pierce or even Shot and Fox. All the elements that made those stories great... did not come across in this book. Usually when I pick up one of A.E. books I can't put it down until I've read it in one sitting. While I like book three I kept feeling like it was missing something... It just wasn't quite gripping me like the other two books. This story was very slow and I think A.E. did not do justice to Call and Alpha story and Lion and Omega's story. She had some incredible characters who I love, but I just couldn't quite connect to them and love them the way I fell in love with Angel DeLucca in book one "Blue Moon: Too Good to Be True".
I was also disappointed with the way the story ended. I think it was lacking and I feel she could've gone a litter deeper into why the betrayal was done... besides the sorry excuse that was giving. Especially after the history these man shared together. It just didn't seem believable to me. It was a week ending to all the angst build up. I have to say this is one of my least favorite I this series.
AE Via has given her readers a great conclusion to the Blue Moon series. I absolutely enjoyed reading Call and Alpha, and Omega and Lion's stories, as well as catching up with some of the Beastmasters and Pierce.
Blue Moon III picks up a few years forward from where Blue Moon II left off and proceeds to take us on an extremely unexpected, but exciting ride. I did not see coming what transpired in this one. WOW!! What a great twist this story has, as well as a lot of information into the history of the Assassin Society, The Order, that Alpha and Omega have spent their lives being a part of.
Blue Moon III was completely engrossing from the beginning to the end. I must say I am sad that this is the end of the Blue Moon guys. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series.
I really needed to get lost in something intense and this was just as perfect the second time round. Really a favourite by this author and a great way to end a series.

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, and jumped at the chance to review this one! I absolutely adore Audio Books and enjoyed Tim Paige’s performance.
It took me a while to get into he story, because it opens on the MC’s from the previous book and I found I couldn’t remember why I had liked them! John in particular ground my gears, but I began to enjoy things much more once Lion arrived. He is an intriguing character and I was glad for Omega to meet his match. Lion is a fearsome assassin in his order, but for Omega, he would cook complex meals and run him a bath. Seemed odd to me, but I liked him!
Once the men had stopped posturing and lowered their hoods, they could set about getting an ‘army’ together and travelling to the homeland to avenge the foe.
It was nice to revisit Hawk and his husband on the way, before everything started to go badly.
The rest of the story is a terrific swing of violence, amazing skills and incredible talents. I did enjoy it, but the identity of the person who had put them all at risk was a bitter pill to swallow (no spoilers here) but wowzers!
AE’s writing always encompasses hugely strong men who have soft hearts for their lovers, and this is no exception. I did enjoy the book and found Tims’s narration to be excellent with realistic accents throughout.
Recommended. I was given a free copy of the audio book in exchange for an honest review
It has been awhile since I read book @#2 in the series, but it was fairly easy to go back into the story. As before, these men are bigger than life and so are the events surrounding them. You need to suspend your disbelief, but no more than when watching an action movie. Well paced, intense, and worth reading to learn how the series ends.
I think I must start from the ending: the HEA, there is no cliffhanger which was kind of whoa! and finally, this book contains a whole lot of action-packed violence that kind of boggles the mind for not only does it mean physical violence but the psychological as well. This book is a whole lot of different from the other Via books I've read and she's known to be this visual writer who slaps her readers with the sheer vividness of her scenes. This one, this kind of knocks you in for a loop and more, it sucker punches you.
I won't say who or what, but that ending took me by surprise and seriously, I had to read that several times to make sure I read right and when I did find out, that yes, I did read it correctly? Whoooooot! that ending! boy.
Now, for the review. This is the more difficult part for the book is all about the men and their partners and how they come together to defeat the one enemy, discover who it is that has betrayed them and more...this is where Lion comes in and when he does, oh my.
First, let's consider Omega. In the second book (yes, if you've not read the second, you need to stop right here and just get it so you know what is going on. Also, best stop for the following words may just be a bit of a spoiler). Now, where was I? Omega. Okay, this guy is all kinds of awesome and dangerous but he needs a steady hand and guidance. Of course, Alpha does that for him but Alpha now has Call and truly, Alpha knows he is no longer enough for his younger brother. Lion is the answer but Omega is not seeing him as that someone special. Their tiptoeing around each other is kind of funny as Omega tries to resist this strong man who controls him with a crook of a finger.
Second, there's Alpha and Call's relationship which goes through a little bit of challenge but thankfully, they're both accepting of their love for each other so Call does not resist. If only Omega were more observant and realized if he does the Call way, he'd be in better shape with Lion.
Third, there's Hawk and his mysterious ways. He's all kind of awesome and so is Pierce. They do their magic for the group and of course, everything falls into place. If only Omega listens.
Overall, I refuse to go into details but I can confirm, yes, the HEA is there but is overshadowed by the ending itself. I wouldn't call it a non-cliff-hanger for it kind of is, but is not. Point is, that ending left me breathless and it was all full of anxiety, dear readers. In the end, I stared out into space and tried to make sense of the stupidity of one who, for lack of a better term, was such an idiot his reasons for betraying the brotherhood was all kind of stupid.
First, this can technically be read as a stand alone, but you really should read the previous books to fully understand the relationships that are in place (Hawk/Pierce, Alpha/Call), as well as what is going on with the newest pairing (Lion/Omega). As with the previous books, this story focuses on both couples, and while it sounds like it will mostly be about Call and Alpha, it spends much more time on the new one of Lion and Omega.
This starts with Call and Alpha, two years after the last book. They have both retired and are living peacefully in a secluded cabin basically just winding down and enjoying their new life together. Until Omega shows up with news of corruption in the Order of which Alpha and Omega belong and grew up. The three then travel to the home of Hawk and Pierce to gain their help, along with some of the other of Call’s Beastmasters.
Once at Hawk and Pierce’s, the guys had to wait on Viper to complete their team. During that time, the story focused mainly on Lion and Omega. Lion quickly determined that Omega was his “cherished” one, and that the Order had surely been grooming them to be an arranged pair. But, Omega had no interest in settling down with anyone. He had pretty much retired when Alpha did, but had decided there was more work for him to do to serve his purpose and made the decision to go back to work. Therefore, he pretty much had no interest in Lion and fought him off at every turn. Until he didn’t. It was pretty abrupt, and once that happened, it was a total 180. To be honest, I never really cared for either of these guys and really just bided my time until the others were present. Their names are used a lot, mostly their call names, but sometimes their given names as well. I suppose it was needed to keep everyone straight, but it felt like too much and kept pulling me from the story. The constant talk about the “cherished” one also got a little tiring.
As for the rest of the story, it was interesting with a few twists and action, but it just didn’t hold my interest as much as the previous books had. I loved seeing Alpha and Call together, though I felt like I missed a huge part of their relationship in the time that had passed, and I longed for more details from them. It was also great to see some of the other Beastmasters as well. I seem to be in the minority on this one, so it is most likely a case of “it’s me, not you.” While I didn’t love it as much as the prior stories, it was still enjoyable and a fitting end to the Blue Moon saga.
I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
I loved the action sequences in this book and I enjoyed the uneasy relationships between the Assassins and the Beastmasters.
The last third of this story contains some of the best action sequences I’ve read recently. Omega and Lion are great warrior characters and when teamed with Alpha and the Beastmasters, this is fabulous action writing. Unfortunately, there was an incredibly long and angst filled build up to the action and I found that the pace earlier in the book dragged at times.
I am a big fan of the author’s Nothing Special books and I found this story to be a huge departure from the style of writing I usually enjoy from AE Via. While the easy banter between Call’s team is familiar and thoroughly enjoyable, the relationships between the Order’s Assassins is much more formal and it took me a while to warm to both Lion and Omega, the central characters in this story.
Both Lion and Omega are very serious, traditional characters and I found myself missing the humour and idiocy I’ve come to expect from AE Via’s men. I found both Lion and Omega far too intense and serious. I think the Alpha/Call pairing was easier because Call was able to balance some of Alpha’s dour intensity. With two intense, formal leading men, this pairing is just too heavy for me.
The sex between these two is...interesting. There is one central sex scene (which seems to go on forever) where the reverent formality between the two main characters makes for some incredibly cheesy and inadvertently comical dirty talk between Lion and Omega.
I am fully aware that this is just my personal reaction to the scene and the characters. What I read as cheesy, I’m sure another reader will enjoy as passionate intimacy. I usually love the author’s sex scenes but I’ve come to expect the sex in her books to be a little more crude and a lot more fun. Ultimately, I really enjoyed the action adventure in this story but I failed to engage with the romantic pairing.
~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads Review Team~ Love this series and hate that there will be no more. This book is a few years after the second book, you really do need to read all the books and in order to get the full effect of the characters and story. Call and Alpha are so flipping hot together it isn’t even funny, man to be in a room and just watch all that hotness. Then you have Lion and Omega, another smoking hot couple. The majority of this book was a build up to the fight with the rebel assassins but that was ok, meant more time with the hotties. This book was so good I found myself wanting to stay up and finish it in one sitting. Hot men, great chemistry and a good story line. Characters: well written Sex: yes Religious: no Would I recommend to others: yes More than one book in the series: yes Genre: M/M Romance Would I read more by this author: yes ~Wicked Reads Review Team~
I’ve been a fan of A.E. Via’s since the very first time I read her and it hasn’t diminished. The Blue Moon Series follows the scariest men I’ve read in a while lol. In Blue Moon 3 we have multiple POV’s and characters. We have Call and Alpha, Omega and Lion. We also have Peirce and Hawk, Viper and a few others that pop in but don’t mean a whole lot to the story. There is A LOT of building in this story. More about solidifying relationships and creating some. The power behind what these men can do and how to link it all to stop the betrayal of The Order. US Soldiers and Ninjas working together for the greater good. A.E. Via talks about so much I’m not familiar with but she teaches a lot about culture and foods and I found it fascinating. Like I said this is a growing story to the end of this series. New and old come together to end the trilogy. There’s a finality to it yet not. If she wanted to come back to it she could. If she wanted to do a side story she could. I like that it’s all tied up yet not so over we cry. This is a wonderful series of alpha men and inner strength. Fierce killers and hopeless romantics! I loved it.
This was fantastic! I think it's my favorite of the series! After meeting Call and Alpha in Blue Moon II: This Is Reality, I couldn't wait for their story and I was not disappointed. I was excited that Omega also had his own story as he was also in the previous book. This story had a great combination of romance, action, and hot scenes. I was a little sad when I reached the end, but all good things must come to an end. I can't wait for A.E.'s next book!
Disappointing and predictable, I didn't like the God complex of the assassin's. If they deemed you dishonorable, they felt they had the right to take your life.
Very disappointed in this book, I mostly like books where killing is a last resort and when they do have to kill there is still regret over the loss of life. The humanity is still there even if you don't agree with their morals or lack thereof. I knew Viper was going to be a traitor as soon as I read how mouthy and rude he was being.
This series should have been named like the first book "Too good to be true" because it was all a bit over the top and based on "luck". But none the less it was entertaining. Biggest disappointment was that there wasn't much left of the close-knit self-made family of The Beastmasters. And okay they are retired, but there wasn't much left of the closeness and trust in this book. I mean look at the end...
