Emma Somnward's life gets turned upside down when she discovers she belongs to a species known as Umbra People.
I will first say, these books are the reason I review! Every once in a while you come across an amazing book with an original plot that blows you away. If I could give 100 stars I would. This is the first book in the series and I honestly cannot wait to read the second one, there was so many things left unanswered.
Emma is another species where she cannot lie and or feel any kind of emotions, that is until she stops taking her pills on her birthday. Emma's journey is long and confusing, she doesn't know who to trust and she thrusted into this new place for people like her, only not all of them are like her.
Amazing book, if you like a book that grabs you by the edge of your seat, then this is the book for you.

Very interesting start to an unusual trilogy. The read could have been improved by some better editing, which caused me to have to slow down at times. The pace picked up in the last third of the book and hopefully will carry over to the next book in the trilogy. I would also have liked to learned more about the Umbra People and the different types. Overall it was worth the time and I will definitely move on to the next book.
I received a free ecopy of this book in exchange for my review.
actually .5 This could have been a good book. I read the reviews with interest and didn't really understand the editing and proofreading issues until now. I was utterly frustrated by the terrible lack of editing and proofreading before publishing. I had to put the book down and did not finish.
