This is one of those books I was equal parts excited and terrified to read. It could go so many ways... I liked the direction it ended up taking. I couldn’t wait to read Tripp’s story. I’ve been intrigued by him for a while now. But I wasn’t that excited to read about Bethy. I’ve had mixed feelings about her. But Abbi made me love her. I love a good second chance love story and this was just that.
Leaving her changed me. The moment I climbed onto my bike and drove out of Rosemary Beach, Florida, I left true joy behind.

Tripp has never been the same since he left home when he was 18, and left Bethy, his girl behind. He always planned to go back for her, then everything happened, and he couldn’t. Now even more has happened. Bethy has been through so much. And Tripp can do nothing to help her with her heartache. Noting but be there for the only way he can be.

“I follow her and watch her every day. Because she’s alone. And I have to know she’s safe. It’s the only thing that keeps me going.”

This follows both Bethy and Tripp in the past and the present. Although I liked reading about the present and their current relationship/healing, I really loved getting looks into the past. Seeing the girl Bethy used to be. And the way Tripp was with her. Even though they came from different sides of the tracks, their relationship was so good, so sweet, so easy. Tripp wants that again. And deep down Bethy does too. But too much has happened. Too much has changed. Bethy has lost too much, and she can’t handle another loss.

 photo 8b49769e-644c-44aa-b2b9-182764c041df_zps41545b6c.jpg

Tripp makes it his mission to convince her that it won’t happen. That he won’t hurt her. As many places as Tripp has been, he’s never met anyone like Bethy. She may have had another love in her life for a while, but he never has. It’s always been her for him. No one else.

It’s a game of push and pull. As soon as Bethy gives a little, she can’t handle it and retreats. Normally, this would bother me in a book. The heroine being this way. With knowing their past and their current situation, it didn’t . My heart hurt for the both of them. Taking a chance on Tripp again is dangerous for Bethy’s heart and I understand her trying to protect that. She feels so much guilt, loss and hurt, she has to guard herself. She doesn’t know if Tripp is a risk she can take.

Tripp. I fell hard for him. His devotion, his love, his patience, and his dirty mouth. Hot damn is that boy sexy! He is a new favorite of mine from the Rosemary Beach series. I love that he has this one great love of his life. He made a mistake years ago, and is doing everything in his power to fix it, to make things right. All he wants is Bethy, and I love that. I love that he’s willing to do anything to get his girl back. He wants all of her.
“With you, I want it all. If I get a taste of what it could be, I won’t ever want to let go. I fell in love with you when I was sixteen, and that’s never changed. But trusting you with my heart again is different. With you, I need to know it’s forever.”

Bethy and Tripp's relationship isn't easy now. But overcoming ugly pasts and tragedy is never easy.

I can’t even speak about Jace, so I won’t really go there. Just know that there were tears, so many tears for Jace. It still breaks my heart just thinking of it.

Honestly, I didn’t expect to love this installment so much. I was afraid it would be too sad and just too much. But it was balanced and it worked. I love Abbi’s writing and I’m so happy that she gave Bethy and Tripp their story, and that she gave it in just one book. No cliffhanger. Tripp and Bethy’s story is one of first loves, of second chances, pain, heartache, healing and hope. Tripp won me over. Their journey was a difficult one, but a beautiful one.

It was wonderful to get all of our other favorite characters in this story, and even nicer that a certain character I loathe wasn’t in this! I can’t stop reading about this group of people, and I love that Mase’s book is next! I can’t wait!

Am I the only one who is a little sad that Jace is going to die? I loved Jace, he was the only guy in the Rosemary Beach series who cleaned up his act without any drama when he realized he loved Bethy and now Abbi kills him? I feel depressed.

Abbi Glines's work is hit or miss for me, with the misses more prevalent than the hits. That said, I always enjoy when she steps away from her popular but formulaic storytelling and offers her readers something a bit different, which is what she did with this book.

I also felt Glines handled the heartbreaking memory of Jace and his love story with Bethy tenderly while still making me happy to root for the second chance at romance happening between her and Tripp. They made for a great couple and I loved them together.

I'm glad I decide to continue this series and give this book a try. It made for a great afternoon read.

”Our story wasn’t over. It would never be over.”

This story is told in past and present while once again I would have liked a longer book especially for the price tag. Nevertheless I enjoyed the story and fell for Trip Newark. I can’t resist his dirty mouth, patience and protectiveness over Bethy.

Bethy is coping with the tragic loss of Jace the boy who saved her life in so many ways. She’s dealing with a lot of guilt and Trip becomes the most protective/dedicated guy in Rosemary Beach. He just wants to be close to her because even though he was gone for so long, she is his great love. Trip felt that she had ended up with the better guy but to see her in pain is something he can’t handle.

Trip works his way back into Bethy’s good graces slowly and they are very hot together. Their love didn’t tarnish what she had with Jace and Abbi Glines does a fine job showing the difference between easy and epic.

”With Jace, I didn’t worry about how I’d continue breathing if he walked out of my life. With you, I want it all. If I get a taste of what could be, I won’t ever let it go. I fell in love with you when I was sixteen, and that’s never changed. But trusting you with heart again is different. With you, I need to know it’s forever.”

Bethy and Trip fell in deep love during the summer of 2008. Sadly Trip has big plans to leave town after the summer. They hide their relationship from family and friends due to Bethy being a minor. There is also a loss that is thrown in that was misinterpreted by Bethy. I’ll let it slide since she was young and never asked the right questions at the time.

What irked me about this story was that Trip never explains why he never contacted Bethy once he ran away. 8 YEARS with no calls, no letters why? He had planned on coming back for her so why the disappearing act?? Also I had posted as a status his reasons for running away were downright laughable.

description

In the present Woods and Della celebrate their destination wedding where Trip finally starts to chip at Bethy’s walls. I really enjoyed all of these scenes especially Blaire and Rush’s son Nate. Once they return back to Rosemary Beach they find their way back to one another and Trip pulls the grand gesture to show Bethy how serious he is about a future together.

”“You need to know that what we had was forever. Bethy, it was forever with me when I was eighteen years old. You were all I could see then, and you’re all I can see now.”

Overall, this was a sweet second chance love story that did redeem Bethy. Abbi Glines did a great job of letting a reader feel just how strong Trip and Bethy’s love is for one another even after all the losses of time and life along their way.

4- 4.5 Coming home Stars

I wasn’t sure how to feel about this one when I saw it was coming out. I was torn because I loved Tripp throughout the series and in the beginning I loved the broken girl who befriended Blair in Fallen Too Far. As the series progressed Bethy just continued to wear on me, and then with Jace’s death I was at my breaking point. However, I am a huge Abbi fan and I have to read all her books, so naturally I jumped in. To all the people who are afraid to read this one, don’t be it is fantastic and well worth your time.

This story begins where things left off in One More Chance. Tripp is back in Rosemary Beach and Bethy is still suffering from the loss and guilt of losing of Jace, but we all know there has to be more to the story.

Bethy is a tough character to love. I think most of us loved her when it was easy. Yes, she was literally a little easy back in the day, but I still loved her. Then she met and fell for Jace and I loved their connection, someone finally saw this girl was worth it and I couldn’t have been happier. Then out of nowhere Jace is gone and I was heartbroken. I was devastated Jace was gone, and like Woods I completely blamed Bethy.

On the flip side I loved Tripp. Tripp was this awesome older guy, drove a Harley, worked as a bartender and best of all completely turned his nose up to his family and walked away. Tripp has always been a mystery, but then you throw in this issue with Bethy and I was at a loss.

You Were Mine is told in Tripp and Bethy’s POV and alternates between past and present. I loved how their story was relayed, you really get to know Bethy and Tripp. Bethy and Tripp come from two different worlds, but had a connection that neither of them could deny. I loved how Tripp wanted to look out for Bethy and protect her, and I loved how she was so smitten with him she trusted him with her heart. It is young love at it’s best and so innocent.

They spent an incredible summer together and then things fell apart. Tripp leaves and Bethy is left trying to figure how to move on. So we learn about the past and then we get to the present. I think this is the hardest part of the story, but Abbi did a great job of redeeming Bethy. I actually felt sorry for Bethy, her heartache and guilt was so sad. Despite my heart hurting for Bethy, I think I needed to see her love for Jace and her guilt. Then we have Tripp trying to protect and love her again after all this time.

"You will always remind me of what I lost. Twice. I only lose with you, Tripp. You leave destruction in your wake. I can’t handle losing anything more.”

Tripp and Bethy have a long way to go in repairing the damage that was done, but Tripp is determined and Bethy can only withstand his advances for so long - thank God! Because Tripp is the sweetest guy with the dirtiest mouth, and people I was all but yelling at Bethy to go for it.

This wasn’t an easy sell for Abbi, but in the end I am Team Tripp and Bethy. I highly recommend if you are a fan of the series. Abbi’s books are always my guilty pleasure as I tell my friends they sweet, hot, sexy and the characters are unforgettable. I didn’t think I would love this one, but I did. I thought things were handled perfectly.

Sidenote and one of my favorite parts of this book: seeing Grant with Lila Kate and little Nate. Sigh...

Tripp and Bethy were in love once… until Tripp ran away, trying to free himself for a future imposed by his parents that he knew that would never make him happy. He leaves Bethy behind without telling her anything… hoping to one day returning to her.
Bethy was left with a broken heart and a lost pregnancy. But she moved on and fell in love with Jace, Tripp’s cousin. He always wanted her but he would never get in the way of her and Jace, But now Jace’s gone, died saving Bethy’s life and she is now broken and a shadow of what she used to be. Now Tripp’s decided to heal her again… and get for good in the way of it.

I love Abbi Gline’s simple writing style and how in her simplicity she writes amazing love stories. This one didn’t disappointed. No one will ever be even close to Rush and Wood’s in my eyes, but these are good books nonetheless. However, I did not like how in this one they got together so late and were apart for a a good part of the book. I do not like when the heroes spend so much time apart. If you’re a fan of this series and the previous books, you definitely can’t miss this one.

Characters Development: I loved Tripp in all previous books and I was impatiently waiting for his own. I was not disappointed. He was amazing and I fell in love with him in the first pages. Bethy… I was angry with her since Jace’s death, but, well… she Abbi Glines did a great job of making Bethy torture herself enough for it. Why should he do it even more? When she got over her “darkness” I liked her again. As always, it was great to see more of the others. I miss them : ( .
Steam: Some hot moments. I confess I was expecting more.

3.75 I hate myself for loving these books stars

“Things worth having don’t come easy. You have to fight for it until you’re tired of fighting, and then you take a breather and fight some more.”

 photo youweremine.png

You Were Mine is an Abbi Glines book I was excited to read. I've noticed as an author she has the rare ability to make me like a character I've had doubts about previously. Bethy is the perfect example of this. To be honest, it's been so long since I've read the first books in these series, Bethy and Jace's relationship never really stood out to me. And I honestly didn't even remember who Tripp was until it was mentioned he was the dude who sent Della to Rosemary Beach. Because of this, I feel like I got a fresh start on these characters.

Eight years ago, Bethy and Tripp had their own summer romance when Bethy was 16 and Tripp was 18. They met at a party, and decided to become friends. Tripp and Bethy never told anyone they were hanging out, and when romantic feelings developed, they didn't say anything in fear of Tripp going to jail.

Tripp desperately wanted to escape the rich world built for him in Rosemary Beach, and he need to leave. Tripp just couldn't take Bethy with him. The plan was to have her wait for him and then leave together when she was 18, but things went wrong and Tripp lost Bethy.

Eight years later and Tripp still loves Bethy, despite her hatred of him. Bethy lost her boyfriend Jace, Tripp's cousin, in a tragic accident and has been slowly been wasting away with grief. Tripp finds he cannot leave the girl he loves to wither away, so he does his best to watch over her.

“It matters to me that you're safe.”

 photo Untitled.png

I think that this is the one of the most sad and angsty books Abbi Glines has ever written. Bethy's inner struggle with her grief and regret was so heartbreaking. All of her friends tried their best to help her, but it was a battle she needed to fight on her own, but having their support helped. Tripp was an amazing hero with a heart of gold. He was never really the "bad guy" even with the mistakes he made 8 years previous because he was just trying to do what was best for him, and for Bethy.

This was probably the best installment for me in this series. Honestly this series has just been getting better with each book. Don't kill me people, but the Blair and Della books were solid 3 star reads for me, but with Harlow and Bethy, we got something a little more complicated than the typical romance, and I like it. Sometimes with Ms. Glines books they can seem repetitive or cheesy. I didn't get either one of those things when reading this book. Yes, it's a chick book, and a guilty pleasure read, but it was a wonderful story and a great break from reality.

My only issue was I felt like the flashbacks were cut off short. They were very present at the beginning and then suddenly gone. It didn't flow as well as it could have I guess. But otherwise this was a great read.

Looking forward to the next book, which doesn't come out until April 2015. Boo!

goodness, here is the lowdown we know so far: Bethy had Tripp. Tripp left Bethy, and Rosemary. Bethy had Jace. Jace died trying to save Bethy. Tripp is back in Rosemary, where Bethy is still mourning Jace, Tripps cousin... HOLY SHIT. :) bring it.

I am most looking forward to this story!!!

1.5-star **Major SPOILERS under Plot and Sexual History**

Should've DNFed @ 11% but skimmed until the end since it picked up @ 33%. But then it went back down after 58%.

The GOOD:
1.) Good-enough emotionality with some angst
2.) Hot detailed bareback S scenes

The BAD:
1.) Weak & shallow characters
Due to 18yo H leaving town after their secret summer fling, 16yo h drowned her sorrows with sex & alcohol. She had no ambitions to pursue anything other than her just-to-pay-the-bills waitressing job she got via her aunt. Eight years later, she's still doing the same thing.

H cowered under his wealthy parents’ pressure & rebelled by leaving town instead of going to Yale. He didn't communicate his travel plans to h. Nor his plan to come back for her 2 years later, when she became legal. He slept with her, knowing she was underage and that he was going to leave town soon. Neither did that much to fight to stay together or be reunited soon or have a long-distance relationship since they could've easily been in contact secretly through H's many friends and h's aunt-boss. Or text/phone/Skype (This was written in 2014). Instead, they slept with other people to get over each other and h's pregnancy loss. And never reached out 1 year, 2 years, or more to discuss what happened. H had a bike so he could've come back to meet up with her at a secret location, if he really wanted to.

2.) H's inconsistent persistence & obsession with h
One day (or 6 months), he's all possessive & stalkery obssessive. But then, with a little rejection from h or threat from his dad, he deflates and soon dates other women. He also lacked responsibility and was ok not working and just traveling around with his bike and golfing while being funded by his family funding. If it wasn't for h's frank talk about his joblessness and her worry about their future, he would've just kept golfing & puttering around. He was like a rich loser.

3.) Immature romance & unsure HEA

PLOT Highlights:
@11% h's POV revealed that she slept around with “whatever wealthy hot guy hit on (her)” at bars to drown her sorrows after H left her 8 years ago & that included his close cousin OM who she 1st smexxed coz he looked like H but ended up falling in love with him and dating him the next few years until recently when OM died from an accidental drowning.

Skimmed until about 30% when I felt some angst & interest from the major tidbits dropped re: what else was involved in H&h’s breakup & subsequent heartache were dropped including a baby they lost.

@33% h finally let H talk to her re: the baby she thought she aborted (her aunt later corrects her that she miscarried the baby at the clinic but h was knocked out so she didn't know & just assumed they aborted her baby all those years) & her sleeping with other guys to get over her & H took the blame for leaving her to deal with the fallback of her aunt & his dad finding out about their affair when h was still a teen.

@40% they called a truce to be friends but both jealous when the other is with another potential date. @46% H declared his plan to talk with h about all that happened 8 years ago when h was ready so they can both heal.

@58% h let H finger her to orgasm & he soon after told her ILY but she said it was too late.

@63% 3 months later H dates his ex-GF (OW) from high school to get over h since she rejected him but seeing h again when she was serving him & his date at the restaurant & she seemed jealous of OW confused him. It wasn’t until his friend told him to not just give up on h but fight for her that he told OW he couldn’t date her anymore & then pursued h again.

@89% H&h’s 1st sex scene after he agreed with her plan to date each other casually although he wanted to be exclusive. But after they smexxed he got all possessive claimy & wanted to be exclusive but she frankly told him that she couldn’t without a firm commitment from him since he can just walk away again from her again since he didn’t have a job and she didn’t want to move out of town.

@96% h hadn’t heard from H in 5 days & thought they were done until he ask her to go with him to show her the actual locations of the hotel and their future home that he recently purchased with his inheritance money & then proposed marriage.

Sexual History:
16yo trailer-park h was devirginzed by 18yo wealthy college-bound H during their short & secret summer fling before he was forced to go to Yale after his dad found about his fling with poor h & blackmailed H into leaving her. Both of them slept with other people to get over each other over the next 8 years. Since her BF's death 2 years ago, h had been celibate until H.

H had 4 previous lovers before h, including his recent ex-GF of 2 years who his parents wanted him to date. After h, he slept with bunch of other women to get over h but it didn’t work. When he came back to town 2 years ago, he was single and silently watching h dating his cousin. He left town again for awhile & no info on whether he dated or slept with anyone. When he came back again 6 months ago, he silently stalked h to give her support over losing her BF and due to his obsession with her. He seemed to have been celibate for that 6-month period. He didn't smex his ex-GF during the 1-2 week period he dated her after h rejected his ILY. Not sure if he kissed or touched her but he was willing to date her since he felt rejected by h and wanted to be with someone who wanted him and she was a good lover in the past.

Every since Tripp was first introduced, I needed to know his story. Add Bethy to the picture and I was even more intrigued. What could possibly have happened between these two for them to end up where they are now and why? Thankfully, we finally get some answers.

description

Tripp...there's just something about a rebel that I like. He wasn't going to let his parents dictate his life for him so he went on the road, making his own way. Add a motorcycle, some tattoos and a whole lotta mystery and what more could you want!

Bethy is a little different story. We know a lot about her...she's been around, really been around until Jace comes along. Things seemed to pick up for her until they crashed back down. Now, she's spiraling and Tripp certainly doesn't help things.

The thing I loved so much was how committed Tripp was to Bethy. He didn't back down and he didn't take no for an answer. It's so obvious how much he loves her. And he only let me down for one little, tiny moment but I'll forgive him. ;)

description

The story goes back and forth from the past, eight years ago, to the present. It helps to understand their story and how they got to where they are now, especially since we get both their POVs.

And the whole gang is here. There is plenty of Rush, Blaire and Nate; Grant, Harlow and Lily; Woods and Della; and even Tate. The big positive...No Nan!! (I could've used more Rush though....always!)

description

There is some steaminess although not as much as I would have liked. We get a little from their history but it's a bit of a wait for more. Tripp certainly does not disappoint so it's worth it. Just add "dirty talker" to his resume. ;)

I loved the ending...can Tripp do no wrong? Okay, that one little thing but that was it. Bethy is one lucky girl!

We get a novella about Kiro and Emily at the end of December and then next up is Mase's book! I'm ready for some girl to shake him by his cowboy boots!

“This is mine. It always was. You were mine then, and you’re mine now.”

She broke our hearts, she took him away from us and made us all blubbering messes in the wake of one of the most startling events in the entire Rosemary Beach series, but we knew along she would make it up to us, and when Abbi Glines decides she is going to make us feel, she takes no prisoners. In another brilliant instalment in a most-beloved series, we are back in the world of the Rosemary Beach crew, and this time around, two of their own need to find their way back to each other. This is a story of second chances, of putting back the pieces of one’s broken heart, and of healing in the arms of the one who never gave up on their love. It’s an emotional book, one that might or might not make us cry, but it will make amends for everything that its prequel has taken from us. And then some.

“I’m done running, and there’s nothing for me out there. What I want is in Rosemary Beach.”

When Tripp Newark left his childhood home in search of himself and to escape his controlling family, he left his girl behind. Three years her senior, Tripp never expected to fall for the brown-eyed beauty raised in a world so different from his own, but one look at her and he was lost. One summer together is all they ever got, but that is all it took them to fall in love and become inseparable. She gave him her innocence, he stole her heart and promised her a forever, but then one day he just took off and left her behind to pick up the pieces of her broken heart and to fend for herself. Eight years later, Tripp returns to Rosemary Beach, tired of running away and determined to fight back for the girl he still loves. But that girl is not the same girl any longer, the pain from losing two great loves in her life having changed her, made her numb to the pain and anger that ravished her gentle soul.

“You want that girl you left behind. I’m not her! Don’t you get it? She’s gone. I’ve lost her. I made choices that made me an awful person. I’m not worth all this time and energy you’re wasting.”

Once an naïve and impressionable young woman, Bethy Lowry’s life has never gone as she hoped, loss and grief hardening her heart and teaching her to shut her emotions off in order not to drown in them. She wallows in her pain, becoming emotionally catatonic and self-destructive, and when her first love suddenly returns to town, her already fragile defenses start crumbling down, his very presence in her everyday life being a constant reminder of everything she has lost and would never get back. The more Tripp pushes her to admit her feelings for him, the more she shuts him out, the memory of their time together only digging an even deeper hole in her own pit of guilt and despair.

“I’m afraid I won’t be able to get over you.”

However, some things are worth fighting for, patiently, sensibly, lovingly, and Tripp is a man who is willing to do all that he can to make sure that the love of his life gets better, that she is happy again, that she forgives him for his mistakes, even if she never ends up becoming his again. He is gentle with her, gives her all the time and space that she asks of him, but he never makes her question his devotion to her or what he is willing to do to make her love him again.

“We may have been kids, but what I felt for you was real. It never changed or faded. Not once.”

In true Abbi Glines fashion, we are given a beautiful story of redemption, of second chance at love, life, happiness, and these characters unsurprisingly embed themselves into our hearts from the very start. The whole story focuses on the emotional journey of these leading characters, but all the other characters are also offered closure over the very event that broke them all collectively. It is a story that is born out of tragedy, heartbreak, an incident that affected each person differently, but all of them permanently, and it paves the road for them all to get rid of the burden of that pain and guilt, and finally heal. I could not help but sigh at the end of this book, my heart clapping in my chest like a happy seal. I loved every word, every sliver of pain, every ray of hope, and I loved loved loved that what we are given in the end balances out what was taken from us in the first place.

“Things worth having don’t come easy. You have to fight for it until you’re tired of fighting, and then you take a breather and fight some more.”

I hate Beth, I LOVE TRIPP!

I'm just wondering if Abbi Glines is planning to make a story for Jimmy too. Jimmy is on my top 5 favorite Rosemary character, I think he needs some love. #JustSaying

4-4.5 'Tripp'n' Stars

 photo image_zps6cwrn3qk.jpg

I was terrified getting into this books. I hesitated because I didn't know what I'm going to think of it. Bethy was a really great character but after what happened with Jace I really disliked her. But when I read it and finished it I loved it. For those who haven't read it yet and are still afraid YOU NEED TO READ IT. You wouldn't be able to help but fall for Tripp. He is amazing.

So...Bethy is Jace's girlfriend who died while he saved her ass from drowning while she was drunk and Tripp was Jace's cousin who had history with Bethy and as you might've already guessed Jace's girlfriend aka Tripp's cousin.
*breathing heavily*

Bethy is mad, confused, and lost. She is mad with her self for what happened to Jace because of her. She is confused at where will life lead her, what is she doing? and what will she do? She is lost. She might be alive but is she really? From the inside, is she living?

Tripp knows his mistakes and he knows that leaving Bethy 8 years ago is the biggest one he'd ever made.

“She was my regret. Leaving her changed me. The moment I climbed onto my bike and drove out of Rosemary Beach, Florida, I left true joy behind."

He knows that Bethy hates him. He is fine with it as long as she smiles and laugh again. She is mad at him and she blames him for everything that happened to her.

Is this their second chance.

“More than my next breath.”

4 second-chance stars

This was always going to be a tricky book to write. With so many conflicting emotions about events in the series so far, I was really hesitant about going into this one. I had three main concerns:

1. I was still pissed at Bethy, and wasn’t sure I could actually like her
2. I didn’t want Jace disrespected
3. I love Tripp so much, and wanted him to have the happy ending he deserved

Well, Bravo Abbi Glines! Not only did she deliver on each of the above, but she gave us a fantastic love story that was high on emotion, low on stupidity and that had me enthralled from start to finish. I loved it!

Just as a side note - the books in this series feature different couples, but I would absolutely recommend reading them in order. There is a lost of background and context built throughout the series, you would miss so much if you dove straight into this one, so I wouldn't recommend reading it as a standalone.

Tripp and Bethy met when he was 18 and she was 16. They were attracted to each other, they became friends, and over one amazing summer they fell deeply in love. Their bliss was cut short when Tripp had to leave town, and Bethy was left to deal with the aftermath of his departure. The years in between had a lot of ups and downs for them both and now, ten years later, Tripp is back in Rosemary Beach and is determined to be there for Bethy after both of their worlds have been rocked, and she is struggling to move on.

First of all, let me acknowledge the absolute perfection that is Tripp. Holy hell, the man is possessive, protective, openly and unabashedly in love and yes, sexy as all hell! He’s in the tricky position of wanting Bethy but not wanting to overstep any boundaries, so he does what he can to let her know that he’s there for her, but he doesn’t push her too hard. He plays his part beautifully, being incredibly respectful, but with the alpha vibes that we all love.

“I know you want to take this slow, and you’re scared. I get it. But I can’t . . . this is mine. It always was. You were mine then, and you’re mine now.”

Initially Bethy wants nothing to do with Tripp. He broke her when he left, and everything that she has been through since then has shattered her even further, leaving her guilt-ridden and confused. She puts up a fight, and while this can sometimes be annoying in a book, this situation was handled really well, and not only did I start to really like Bethy, but I could accept and understand what she was feeling, and I thought she was written really realistically. And, of course, it didn’t hurt that even though she was pushing Tripp away, he was there fighting for her the whole time.

“You want that girl you left behind. I’m not her! Don’t you get it? She’s gone. I’ve lost her. I made choices that made me an awful person. I’m not worth all this time and energy you’re wasting.”
Fuck. I took a step toward her, and she took a step back. “You’re wrong there. I don’t want the sixteen-year-old girl I left behind. I want the woman she’s become. The kind, compassionate, faithful, strong woman I watch from afar every day of my life. I want her. Nothing ever changed for me. Not with you.”

I really liked that we got to see Tripp and Bethy’s past together, I loved seeing them fall for each other as teenagers, it really helped contextualise everything and despite all that happens, it has you rooting for this couple from the very beginning. Back in the present, yes there is some back and forth, but it is consistent to their situation, and I knew it was all going to work out in the end, so it was just a matter of sitting back and soaking up the sexy (damn, but there is sexy!), passionate, sweet and oh-so swoony moments until we got our happy ending.

“You needed to know that what we had was forever. Bethy, it was forever with me when I was eighteen years old. You were all I could see then, and you’re all I can see now.”

The rest of the gang are all a part of the action, and there is some great progression for them. And can I just take a moment to gush over Grant – that man is absolutely gorgeous! I really enjoyed catching up with each of the other couples, and loved their involvement (invited or otherwise) in the unfolding drama.

“Friends, huh?” Rush said, coming to stand beside me.
“Yeah. She’s decided we can be friends,” I told him…
“I tried the friends thing with Blaire once. It lasted less than a week before I was stripping her naked in the back of my Range Rover. Good luck with that.”

I really loved this book. I was surprised by just how much I loved it. With just the right amount of humour and light moments to keep it from being too heavy, it was a really enjoyable read which exceeded my expectations, and has me firmly on team Trethy. Well done, Ms Glines!

4 stars

Note - I listened to this as an audiobook, and have two words to explain how awesome it was - Sebastian York. That is all.

"With you, I want it all. If I get a taste of what it could be, I won’t ever want to let it go. I fell in love with you when I was sixteen, and that’s never changed. But trusting you with my heart again is different. With you, I need to know it’s forever."

4 Emotional and Angsty Stars!

Bethy Lowry has always been one of those side-characters in the previous books of Rosemary Beach series that instantly got me. She was so strong and very likeable. What happened to her in Simple Perfection ruined me, though. That's why when I knew that she was getting a story, I instantly felt hopeful for her happy ending.

This book gave that to me. I love Bethy and Tripp's happy ending. Their history was vague in the previous books but it became clear here. I loved how these characters reunited in Rosemary Beach and eventually confronted each other about what happened in the past. Their story was bittersweet and heartbreaking, but I'm glad Abbi Glines was able to pull this one off.

I particularly loved Woods and Della's beach wedding scene here and how everyone was present to celebrate their happiness. As a whole, it was an emotional yet very romantic and unforgettable book. And as usual, I loved the setting. I think Rosemary Beach will forever be my fictional comfort zone. :)

“You needed to know that what we had was forever. Bethy, it was forever with me when I was eighteen years old. You were all I could see then, and you’re all I can see now. I’ve been waiting for you, sweetheart, to heal and to come back to me. But all you had to do was tell me you wanted forever, too. I would move heaven and earth to make that happen.”

"During the past three months, I had accepted the fact that she may have been my big love but Jace had been hers. It hurt like hell, but it was the truth. Whoever she ended up with would be second-best. I wasn’t sure I could live being second-best for Bethy. Not when she’d always be my number one."

Y Bethy...gracias por despedirte de Jace. Eso hizo que todo doliera demasiado y a la vez mucho menos.

"“I never told you why I loved daisies. You always made jokes about me not wanting roses. I should have let you give me roses. But I loved daisies.”
The wind blew some petals loose as I stood there, watching the waves crash against the sand. “I loved daisies because, before you, before us, I had a love that was big. One that was so big it held on all these years, even though you came into my life and found a part of my heart I didn’t know was left and claimed it. You don’t know it, but you saved me . . . twice.
“I don’t want you to think I wasn’t completely with you when you held me, because I was. The love that had found me before was there, but my heart was yours then. It was us. I didn’t know how to tell you about Tripp . . .” A daisy blew free of my grasp, and I watched it drift away, then tumble along the white sand before a wave pulled it out into the water.
“I hated him for leaving me. I hated him for things I shouldn’t have, because he was a kid, too, back then. There were misunderstandings and pain that ran deep. I was lost, and the girl I had been was gone. You found her and kept her from complete destruction, because that was the course I was on. We were perfect but for only a season. Because Tripp came back. And when he did, it tilted my world.
I waited for the tears to come, because they always did. But today there was no burn in my eyes. No pain in my chest.
“It should have been me who drowned that night. Not you. Me. But you didn’t let that happen, because, again, you saved me. I didn’t deserve to be saved, but you never seemed to see it that way.
“You took a piece of me when you left. That part of my heart that you claimed is still with you, out there. It always will be. You were my hero.” I looked back down at the daisies in my hand and bent down to place them on the sand. I didn’t let them go yet, because the moment I did, they would blow away.
“He’s been patient with me. He’s watched over me when all I did was push him away. I’ve said hurtful things to him and wanted to hurt him as much as I was hurting, and he still didn’t leave. He just waited.
“When I needed to be saved from the darkness that losing you had put me through, he’s the one who saved me. He’s made me laugh again. He’s made me feel again. And I want to live again. If I live my life, that doesn’t mean I’ll forget you. That won’t happen. What we had will never leave me. You will never leave me.” I stood up, leaving the daisies on the sand until each of them was caught by the water and pulled away.
“Thank you, Jace Newark. For loving me, for saving me, for being my hero.”

Gracias Abby por permitirme ver mas de mis chicos. Woods casándose y conociendo su futura paternidad... Grant siendo tan hermoso padre... Rush siendo...Rush...♥

This book was just...

I love the Rosemary Beach series and this book was not a let down.

All I can say is that if you are a fan of the series I recommend reading it because in addition to Tripp's and Bethy's beautiful story you get an inside on what the other characters from the series are up to.

Now let's move on to the story of Tripp and Bethy, the present and the beginning of their love, which took place 8 years ago.

So while Bethy is all...

description

...because Tripp left her 8 years ago after , and ...he only came back when finally she was putting her life back together.

After Jace (her boyfriend and Tripp's cousin) dies she falls apart and want's nothing to do with her first love...but he isn't giving up so easy.

Tripp on the other hand...

description

...doesn't want to let go because Bethy is his first and only love and he regrets leaving all those years ago.

What follows is a heartbreaking story about love, friendship, lose and rediscovery.

I hope you will enjoy the book as much as I did :)

I have had it long coming returning to the summer adventures in Rosemary Beach with all the rich manwhores who find the love of their lives. In my earlier teenage years i used to eat up Abbi Glines books like candies, but i never came around to reading her "You were mine" which is the 9:th book in the "Rosemary Beach"-series but can also be read as a standalone.I remember when Bethy Lowry`s boyfriend Jace drowned when he tried to save her and his death took everyone hard.Jace`s hot ,tattooed cousin Tripp Newark was hungrily watching over Bethy and following her everywhere she went. That made me think that these two must have a secret past since there was sparks in every scenes between them.In this book i finally get to know what happened all those years ago.

***
She needed me as much as I needed her. Our story wasn’t over. It would never be over. If I had to stay here and watch over her, even though she wouldn’t let me get near her, I would. For the rest of my motherfucking life. -Tripp
***

Bethy Lowry in my memory had been a very wild party girl who slept around with men but who finds happiness with Jace,a guy who at first used her for sex but later came to fall in love with her.I remember many fun times with Jace and Bethy since they were friends with Blair and Rush,so picture my surprise when Jace suddenly died.Damn it,but i really liked him.He had much charm and was hilarious and carefree. In this book Bethy is very much depressed and still feel guilt and loss over Jace`s tragic death. His death actually hurt, but when Tripp came to town i knew it would be epic on another level.Tripp knew what he wanted and he still loved Bethy as passionately as he did 8 years ago and he refused to give her up now.Abbi Glines are famous for her man-whoring Alpha-males who gets reformed by sweet tortured heroines. But Tripp Newark was no man-whore and was a golden hearted lover through his soul. The way he went about protecting and caring for Bethy did things to my heart. The days he used to look at her window longingly and her looking after for him.So freaking romantic!

We get to see Woods marry his Della,Grant and Harlow fawn over their little baby girl Kate (who by the way will end up with Woods and Della`s son in the spin off series)-and fun loving moments with Rush and Blair and their son Nate who i found so adorable.I know he have his own book in the spin-off series "Like A Memory".Reading a book by Abbi Glines is definitely like coming home.

Dear Abbi,

It’s me…again. Guess WHAT!?!!! I just finished You Were Mine, and I have thoughts, lots of thoughts. Good thoughts. Bad thoughts. Conflicting thoughts. Reflective thoughts….THOUGHTS!

Your ability to create a world of intricately interwoven characters developed in such a way that people continue to come back for more…and more…and more, is astounding. The longevity of most of your series is a direct testament to your skill as a writer. A testament to your ability to “spike” your books with something so intangibly addictive that readers can’t help but fuel a need for more. For that, I salute you.

Some of your books are totally me. Some aren’t. Some I love. Some I like. Some…not so much. Despite my personal feelings, I always find something, and I always go in with an open mind.

That’s exactly how You Were Mine initially took me by storm. My expectations were cautious and hopeful.

At first I was overwhelmed by how much I liked it. The first half was griping, compelling, and for lack of a better word…really, really good. I was caught up in the past as much as I was anticipating the future. There was something so heartbreaking and intense about Beth and Tripp’s relationship. Their story. But more specifically his devotion and unfailing need to protect Beth. His support was unconditional.

Beth kept him at a distance, pushed him away even, but Tripp let her. He gave her what she needed. Space. Well, the illusion of space. He was happy being on the sidelines, being there just in case she fell, just in case she broke. His actions were nothing short of selfless. I loved everything about their story. If I am just looking at the first half, it may be my favorite book in the series, but things got a little off after that.

The second half slowed down a bit and I found myself getting bored, almost like I was stuck on a plateau. I can’t really put my finger on exactly what happened but the pacing slowed way down and then the ending sped way up. Then...it ended. It ended way too fast. It just ended. I don’t think I was ready. I felt like time was wasted on those slower parts and then we ran out of time.

It didn’t ruin the book for me, and I am convinced fans of this series are going to love Beth and Tripp’s story. Hell, I loved their story. It somehow set itself apart from the others. I love me some Rush and Blaire, but this was just so emotionally raw. I just wish it would have been executed consistently from beginning to end. I felt like all the heart was in the first half, but the conclusion, the closure was rushed.

The content was there though, and that alone gets five stars.

Abbi, it’s obvious you have more talent in the cuticle of your pinky finger than most people have in their entire body. I know exactly what I’m going to get out of a Abbi Glines book, and that’s good, but at the same time it almost feels like I’m sometimes reading the same story (great stories), but with different characters.

I'm a fan, and for you I have the utmost respect. I also remain hopeful. Hopeful of reading that book I don’t see coming. That book that’s a game changer. That book that’s different from anything you’ve ever done before. That book that doesn’t just step outside your box, but blows the whole damn thing up. Because if anyone can do it, it’s you.

Sincerely,

Your reader

I'm so happy right now! I'm still in cloud 9 with this book! I was so mad because I didn't like Grant's story as much as I wanted but here I'm back loving yet another Abbi Glines book and another Rosemary beach book more specifically .

description

As much as all books can be read as standalone, I don't think this one is. Even if you have enough backgrounds to understand what's going, I advise everybody who wants to read this to read ALL previous book. The Rosemary Beach series is more than different stories with different love being found between two people. For me, it's a series about friends who become family and each couple have a special place in my heart.

description

Here we are finally with Bethy and Tripp. Two people who loved each other for more than 8 years but who lost their way a little because life it's not always the way you want it to be.

Tripp had to leave Rosemary because his parents wanted to give him a life he wouldn't hear about. His biggest regret was to leave Bethy, the love of his life behind.

Bethy's life changed after she spend an entire summer with Tripp. This relationship and the way it ended shaped her future more than she would have liked. After many years, she found love with Jace, Tripp's cousin. But with Tripp's coming back, everything changed.

If you read the other books in this series, you know Jace is dead. I know this information can be seen as a spoiler for those who haven't read this series before but I wanted to say it because I didn't want people to believe this story was about a love triangle because it's not.
Even if Jace death doesn't happen in this book, I remember I've never cried so much during a scene in a book. Jace was a good guy. The one you want forever with and he was so in love with Bethy. I would have loved to have a story about them. At the time, when Tripp came back I didn't understand the depth of Bethy and Tripp 's feelings for each other.

This book is about second chance, it's about how you can find love when you think you don't deserve it. It's also about what you are willing to do to get back what you thought you lost.

description

Everything in this story is perfect. Abbi Glines manage to write the story without it to be too much drama, with the perfect amount of angst.

I wanted to finish my review with a personal thought

5 Breathe Taking Star’s

I have read all of these books I just never reviewed them, so I am relisting and reviewing now.
Tripp Newark & Bethy Lowry

Bethy has always had a place in my heart, she was so open and kind to Blaire not matter what. But you always got the sense something wasn't quite right with her. Like she was lost.

So after the heartbreak of the last book I was so glad to see she gets her own HEA if you will.

Tripp, oh he is a hunky dunky for sure. I was intrigued by him from stories passed. So when he came back to town and things start to unfold. I was with glee as it looked like he was hung up on our girl Bethy.

You can see why these two are meant to be. It also breaks my heart that they had to be away from each other for so long. But I guess the heart wants what it wants and they were meant to heal each other. The time away brought them clarity.
One of my ALL time Favorites of the series.

Seriously Sebastian York's voice is butter he is Tripp. And Elizabeth Louise embodies Bethy's spirit. Fantastic narration.

Bethy and Tripp's story. I think my favorite part was how she had a miscarriage and confused that with an abortion. That's a new low. Pro-life agenda at it again!

Bethy was convinced she went into a hospital feeling some pain and spotting and woke up to the baby gone. She thought that doctors, without her permission, performed an abortion on her. Despite growing up and years passing, her character still believed that.

I don't even know what to say.

4 Tripp is Mine Stars

I knew this will be one of those emotional book in the series. What Tripp and Bethy have was so deep. Love at young age says is never real, but they proved it wrong. Tripp run away from Rosemary Beach to save himself and his relationship with Bethy. They never had chance to settled the past and can't moved on. I like the story specially it showed past and present that will make you understand Tripp and Bethy more. I didn't like Bethy before but didn't hate her either. But this book made see her truly and understand her.

I like this book more because of Tripp. I think his my favorite hero, second to Rush. The wat he handled their situation of Bethy, every girl will loved him.
I like it that the gang was complete with additional of adorable kids, Nate and Lila Kate.
