This collection of buddhist tales tell of amrapali, an accomplished dancer who commanded the love and admiration of an entire town and of upagupta, who was just a poor monk amrapali craved peace, upaguptas bearing exuded contentment amrapali depended on the adulation of her audience, upagupta spurned the attentions of the rich and famous their stories were different, but the buddhas wise teachings linked their lives and the lessons to be learned from them
Brilliant story with beautiful illustrations. Obviously it is a lighter version of the life story of Amrapali. Amrapali; one of the most beautiful women and a tormented soul. Everyone should read it to know how her life was.
This was a combination of 2 stories, which I didn't expect. I liked both and it made me read the Wikipedia article on Amrapali. As expected, the article provided more information on the story.
The second story was relatively predictable as was the moral behind it. Overall, I did like reading something outside Hindu mythology.
