I have to say I was disappointed with this series. I felt the characters were poorly developed and for the most part seemed generic. There were times when I found myself struggling to remember which character was which just because they were all so shallow. The idea was pretty good but I thought it fell victim to trying to incorporate too many things and appeal to too many audiences. There were fantasy, science fiction, religious, dystopian, action and even some minor romance elements and it was too much of everything and not enough of one thing. It caused the story to never really develop. There were also a ton of inconsistencies in the story and the characters and a lot of the story just didn't make sense. Without spoiling anything there were just actions, reactions and elements of the story that totally contradicted earlier parts. Overall like I said it was a good idea and I myself love dystopian type books but this one was just poorly executed. I had high hopes reading the beginning and it went mostly downhill from there.
This is a wonderfully well written supernatural story. The character and plot developments were intriguing and well thought out throughout the entirety out the series. If you like supernatural thrillers, you'll enjoy this read. The only annoyance is in its similarity to The Stand by Stephen King, but it is different enough to avoid feeling deja vu when reading it.
