Rate this book
Jordan Maxwell, a twenty-seven year old freelance journalist, ventures to New York City to make a name for herself. With both parents dead, she finds herself alone in one of the worst neighborhoods in the city. In a twist of fate, Jordan receives a will from a great uncle whom she only met a few times. Astonishingly she discovers that she is the heir to his estate in Solomon Cove, Maine.

Leaving behind her boyfriend, Eric, a journalist for the New York Times, she packs her bags and heads to Maine. Jordan soon realizes that her rags to riches journey entails much more than she bargained for.

Crime was unheard of in the small fishing village of Maine. Solomon Cove, a town where everyone knows everyone, was the last place anyone expected crime, especially murder. However, the tides turn for this quaint town when the body of a young girl comes crashing into town with the waves.

As the victims continue to mount, Jordan starts to believe the murders are connected to her, and the family she never knew. As she and her boyfriend dig deeper into the past, Jordan must protect herself before she becomes the serial killer’s next target.

Jordan Maxwell, a twenty-seven-year-old freelance journalist, ventures to New York City to make a name for herself. With both of her parents dead, she struggles to get by living in one of the worst neighborhoods in the city. In a twist of fate, Jordan finds herself the sole heir to her great-uncle’s estate in Solomon Cove, Maine.
Then murders start to happen and the police are looking into a serial killer. I had an idea who the killer was but I didn't know why. I could not put this down and read it in one day.
Received this from NetGalley for an honest review.

Jordan Maxwell had originally moved to New York to make a name for herself as freelance journalist. However, her great-uncle, recently deceased, has left her his massive estate in Maine. As Jordan is packing for the move there, her neighbor is brutally stabbed. After seeing about her neighbor in the hospital, Jordan moves. Her life is about to change in more ways than one

The small town, Solomon Cove in Maine, is a post-card town, as idyllic as they come, yet a woman's body is found on the beach. Other bodies are found in quick succession. Jordan begins to wonder if the murders are somehow connected to her and to her extended family. What's more, Jordan believes that she may be the next target.

When Dawn Never Comes is a reissue and for that I'm thankful because I wouldn’t have has the chance to read it otherwise. The story draws the reader in and has an amazing twist. Why is Jordan connected? The discovery is stunning, making this book impossible to put down!

Many thanks to NetGalley and to Raven South Publishing for this book to review.

This is a good murder mystery with a touch of psychological thriller, first published in 2014. Jordan leaves New York City for Maine when she inherits a house from an unknown uncle. When she arrives, the murders in the small town start and she must figure out her family's past to prevent her own death. This is the first Kim Carter book I've read and she does a good job of holding your interest with a well thought out plot and clues. Part of the G Street Chronicles series, it is a perfect stand alone story. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Loved every sentence in this book! Never saw the bad guy coming although I should have, the clues were there, I was too engrossed in the story to even consider it. I thought I had it this time but no, Ms. Carter took a turn there at the end and whoops she did it again. Loved this book and am on to the next one. Don't know what I am going to do when I finish the last of her novels.

A fantastic murder mystery! Journalist, Jordan is living in New York City trying to get her name out there. With deceased parents and an apartment in a rough part of town she welcomes the news that she has inherited a mansion in Maine, from her great uncle--a man she only met a few times during her childhood.

She packs up, leaving her boyfriend behind, to the small town in Maine. Everything seems wonderful, the mansion, the staff, the large amount of money her uncle left her...until a string of murders take place. All young women Jordan can't help but feel a little frightened and question if her being new to town has anything to do with these murders.

Boyfriend Eric, works for the New York Times. Worried for Jordan's safety they partner with some of the town folks to try and connect the murders. As the saying goes, curiosity killed the cat. As Eric and Jordan dig deeper, they discover some shocking family secrets that explain how Jordan inherited her new estate. Unfortunately, it also reveals that the murderers next victim is Jordan.

This book was so well written and well researched, it was a pleasure reading it. I give it 4.5 stars! It was a great guess-who-the-killer-is book. Being from Maine myself, I would have loved to seen a little bit more of our slangs and quirky things we say. I am currently reading another book by this same author so stayed tuned for another review on Kim Carter's book!

Another winner

This is another well written, clean, mysterious mystery crafter by Ms. Carter. Enjoyed every page. Ms. Carter is able to come up with some very unique story lines that keep the reader engaged and intrigued till the last page. The only drawback for me was that there were too many characters for me to keep track of. (Forgive the error of ending sentence with a preposition!) But such a talented writer! Will be sorry when I finish the last of her books.

I've never been to Maine, but I feel like I've been there after reading this book. I loved the Maxwell Estate on the bluff. I feel like the characters were family in this small town. I couldn't put this book down. I was guessing to the end who the murderer was. So glad to see some of these characters continued in No Second Chances. Another great book by Kim Carter.

I truly enjoyed When Dawn Never Comes by Kim Carter. When we meet Jordan she is getting ready to move into her Uncle's Mansion hours away from her home in New York. She has many questions as to why she has inherited this large Estate. As Jordon prepares to move murders begin to happen in the small town she is moving to. Are these events connected? This mystery was difficult to put down so i completed it in two days. This is a book about family and the people who touch our lives. The characters all seemed so real and very likable. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good story. It is great to read something that does not contain explicit sex or graphic violence.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in return for my honest opinion.

I really liked and enjoyed this storyline. Lots of twists and turns, a great thriller. I did have a few issues with how many points of view there were in the book. It seems like almost every chapter was written by the perspective of a different town resident, but in the long run this seemed to work, it got out some important bits that we needed to know to further the story. Jordan seemed to have inherited everyone’s fantasy, a mansion on a cliff with unlimited funds, but why is a serial killer suddenly in this small town, will Jordan live to enjoy her new home. All in all, a very enjoyable summer read.
