FABULOUS COLLECTION OF STORIES AND FOR A VERY WORTHY CAUSE !!! Title: Once Upon A Midnight Author: Multiple Genre: #paranormal #supernatural #romance #anthologies #supersexy Reading Platform: Kindle Edition My Rating: Five Outrageously Outstanding Stars***** Oh my! Here we go again! I'm on a roll! The last few weeks have been a virtual all-you-can-eat buffet of super sexy heroes and strong sassy heroines exploding from the pages of superbly crafted collections written by the most talented and well-renowned word slingers of the paranormal romance genre today...and this set is no exception! I think everyone who has ever read any of my reviews in the past knows how much I love box sets and Once Upon a Midnight is one of the best I've read. I love purchasing sets like this one which not only gives me stories by some of my favorite authors like Renee George, Julia Mills, Dakota Cassidy, Melanie James, A.D. Justice, Stephanie Rowe, and Jami Brumfield but it also allows me to sample the work of seventeen new-to-me authors I've been itching to try. And if that's not enough of an incentive to purchase this set, try this...all proceeds from the sale of this collection are being donated to benefit The Epilepsy Foundation. Yup, you read that right; all the proceeds are being given to a very worthy cause, one which I support wholeheartedly. I've witnessed firsthand the devastation caused by epilepsy and truly hope one day, with our help and support, a breakthrough will be made giving much-needed and long overdue relief to the individuals affected by this brain disorder and their families. Once Upon A Midnight includes twenty well-crafted, well-edited and beautifully written paranormal tales filled to the brim with spine-tingling danger, gut-wrenching drama, heart-pounding adventure, dreamy heartwarming romance, panty-melting alpha males and the brave women they love! Several of the books in this set I already own but most of the stories were new. This is NOT a collection of teasers or excerpts but complete novella length stories. Several of the contributions can be read as standalones but others are part of existing series and do end in cliffhangers or happy-for-now endings. But you get a lot of bang for your buck! Twenty books for 99 pennies and you're helping a worthy cause! I can't think of a better way to spend a leisurely afternoon than cuddled under my favorite afghan with a warm cup of tea and a great collection of stories by twenty very talented authors. Did I like this collection? No, I LOVED it! I have a book hangover! I've read two jam-packed collections in the last three days and haven't found a bad story in either! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers. Was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and awesome read!

Irish, vampire Alpha, walks in on her before she has the chance to cover any of the mess up and volunteers to help her. Both try to hide their true feelings for one another. Claire refuses to tell Irish the whole truth and it is worse than he can imagine. Hot chemistry between Irish and Claire is difficult for them to deny. Claire is desperate but thorough in her search to uncover enough proof for the council.

But more is happening than what anyone can see. Bryn realizes more is going on when Cash appears in front of her to kill her. Cash ran when he shifted and tried to stay away from Bryn. A Shade of Midnight (Midnight Shifters Book Four) by Renee George Mina is an OW, or Other Worlder. She knows she is an empathy and attempts to keep the secrets of her past while working private security. She does not want to open up to anyone, especially the amount to be in a serious relationship. Gav, a lion shifter, knows Mina is his mate but pushes her away because she cannot commit to him. Meeting Eric confuses her even further because she is also drawn to him. There is also a killer on the lose and someone trying to frame Eric for murder.
Fur Ever Yours (Black Paw Pack Book 1) by Melanie James The Fates etched Rafe and Mina's destiny in stone long ago. Now, one twisted wolf seeks to destroy them both. Mina has been tortured and only wants to free herself, her mother, and her sisters. The Alpha of Twisted Tail pack wants Mina as his mate and he takes what he wants.
Aaibhe-Shee Queen by Claudy Conn 3* Seventy thousand years is a long time to live without true love. As queen of the Seelie Fae, Aaibhe led her people to a new world when their own had been destroyed by war. She accepted the responsibility of maintaining the magic-built walls that imprisoned the evil Dark Fae. She kept the Seelie Hallows safe. And though she enjoyed the companionship of an occasional Fae lover, she never took a royal Fae as her king or a non-royal as her consort. A prequel to another book.
Broken Pieces (A Patchwork Novella) by Toni Aleo 3* From the moment Oceanus von Stein, second-in-command to the Patchwork family, caught sight of Taegan Conner, daughter of the leader of the Wolves, he knew he would never love another. Only now, she has been promised in marriage to another, an arrangement to strengthen her family's alliances--and she gets no say in the matter. Interesting read, but cliffhanger.
Fated by Fire by Kelly Cozzone Gareth Cadell fights to save the survival of his red dragon clan. He didn't expect to find his soul mate in the process. Cadence holds the power of the future of the red dragons. She does not know of her fate or her past. Enemies have decided her death will ensure the failure of the red dragons. A complete story with room for more to the story.
Bound by Joy (Cauld Ane Series #8) by Tracey Jane Jackson Kenna McFadden has waited more than two hundred years for her mate and she finds him in a most unexpected way. On a mission to find his missing niece, prince Gunnar Baldersson finds someone far more precious to him. Join in their bonding as they fall in love while celebrating the sweetness and joy of Christmas.
Immortal Envy by A.D. Justice 3* Two brothers. Best friends. Immortals. One woman - the subject of their mutual obsession. Immortals can hold a grudge for a very long time. I cannot fathom the ending.
The Fate of Her Dragon by Julia Mills - Alicia is plagued by sleepless nights, a man haunting her every thought, his voice calling, begging, needing...her... Not even the Universe has the answers and time is running out. Drago has been imprisoned for 100 years and a shift allowed him to contact his mate. He must be found before the traps kill him. A stand alone story which leads in to a larger story.
Created Darkly, a Kris Chase novel by Gena D. Lutz Necromancer Kris Chase will not blindly raise the dead for the primary elite, selfnecro-governed group, the Center. She is more content with snuffing out the life force from every vile creature she can get her hands on; the same monsters her brethren indiscriminately create... vampires. She is extremely attracted to the head of the Center, Rush. She avoids him at all costs, until her sister is taken.
Diane Rinella -- Moonlight Serenade Instead of leading Dale to the woman of his dreams, a psychic guides him to a lucky charm--Glenn Miller's guitar pick. Does the key to Dale's happiness lie with the famous bandleader or the deceased rocker of the same name? Maybe the ghost in the grey fedora knows ...

Amanda Washington - Lucky Blow When an enslaved demigod earns her freedom, but loses the one thing that matters more, she'll have to join forces with an old flame and steal from a cast of powerful gods to get it back.

Michele E. Gwynn -- Darkest Communion Torn from his beloved by jealousy, and cursed to walk the night alone for eight-hundred lonely years, a dark and twisted love triangle comes full circle in Bucharest, Romania for a vampire, a gypsy, and the woman they both desire.
What a fabulous box set, for a fabulous cause The Epilepsy Foundation! These wonderful authors have brought you a feast for your eyes, mind and imagination. Below are reviews of 3 of these stories.
Aaibhe-Shee Queen by Claudy Conn is part of her fabulous Legend series. Though this book is part of a series, it can be read alone. This story is sort of a prequel to the series and gives you insight into the very calm and decisive Queen Aaibhe. Full of passion and romance as she falls in love herself. A fun novella you will enjoy.
Spirited Seduction by Wynter Daniels. I truly enjoyed this book by Wynter Daniels. It has a bit of paranormal, with intrigue and sensual love scenes. Ryan has been having daydreams about his dead sisters friend Emily. They start off as these wonderful erotic scenes, that quickly turn to horror as she is ripped away from him, by someone he doesn't see and she screams. After his latest daydream he sees the spirit of his dead sister Becky who tells him to "Heed his vision". Knowing he must see Emily, he makes an appointment to see her at her place of work. Emily is surprised to see her next customer is Ryan, whom she has had a crush on, even though he doesn't believe in her psychic abilities. Which shouldn't matter since she has given up on using them after the danger they caused her in the past. Through this meeting Ryan states how he needs her help to find Becky's killer and that she too may be in danger now. Reluctantly Emily agrees to help. Working together also makes them realize the strong mutual attraction to each other, they can no longer deny. Though the road to finding Becky's killer is a treacherous journey. A short, exciting and sensual read for an afternoon or evening. I highly recommend this book! Fallen by Nicole Garcia. Fallen by Nicole Garcia is the second book in The Club Blood series, following the book Bitten. This is the story of Gia and Rhett. Gia, a vampire, several hundreds of years old and her coven, led by Caressa, are in hiding from the Hunters. They do this by having a club for people to come to, so they can feed and keep out of site of the Hunters. Gia, always the tough, straight talking one, finds herself wanting more. The more she wants is in the form of Rhett. Rhett is a friend of Noah, who is Caressa's mate. Rhett is also a human. Gia knows she can't be with a human and does not want to turn Rhett and force him into the life she leads. There is only one problem, Rhett wants Gia too. Now she has to decide if she can set him free and feel that agony or succumb to her own desire. I could not put this down once I started until the last word was read. I loved it. If you love vampire stories, with romance and steamy love scenes, this book is for you! Even though this is the 2nd book, you could read it separately. If you do, I know you will read the others as well.

REVIEW
I am reviewing the following stories in this box set. I have previously read/revied them.
Melanie James - Fur Ever Yours Rafe is the Alpha of Black Paw, one night while out on patrol him, and a few of his pack find a wolf in horrible condition with a silver collar on. Rafe is not sure at first what is going on but his wolf knows. Mina was raised in a pack where no one is treated fairly she is not sure now what she got herself in to but it has to be better than the treatment at Twisted Tail. Once the collar is off Mina, everything changes for herself and Rafe. Now they are in for the fight of their lives against Griffin the pack leader of Twisted Tail. Can Rafe protect Mina and rescue her family and others? How will Mina feel about being an Alpha' Mate? I cannot wait to find out who gets a story next in the series I hope its Erin and Lucas. Very well written, strong characters, and strong story line.
Claudy Conn - Aaibhe-Shee Queen I can honestly say I have never really gotten into the fae/druid type books but boy was I wrong. This book has changed that for me. Its an awesome short read about the Seelie Queen and her love of a human. This book is Romantic and Passionate !!!! Awesome !!
Julia Mills - The Fate of Her Dragon This is book 10 in the Dragon Guard Series and I have to say I wanted this book so much just on the cover alone. Each guard who has found their mate seems to have a deep battle with those setout to hurt them but Drago and Alicia's story ripped at my emotions. Drago has been kept a prisoner for almost 100 years. He is a MacLendon a Dragon an Assassin he was the Commander. His mate Alicia hears him but she has no idea who he is or what he wants but she can hear him. Now to find him? Alicia is skeptical when Drago lets her know who has him. Drago is in luck because Alicia does know the Dragon Guard but she is still weary because Rayne said he had no family living. Well she goes on asking him one million questions but she needs to know in her heart of hearts this man is telling the truth. Drago is family but whose? You will have to just read the story yourself as I have given you enough already.
Gena D. Lutz -- Created Darkly, a Kris Chase novel This book will knock your socks off if you like Necromancers, Ghosts, Phantoms, Vampires and all those other worldly creatures. We have Kristina Chase who is a very strong necromancer. She has been pressured by the council to join them namely by Rush who has had the hots for Kris for a long time. She refuses and keeps on refusing. Then things go wrong. Her sister Torrane has been taken and now she must do some very drastic things and keep company with some of the ones she detests. Can Rush save her from herself? How will Rafe play into all this? And what about Jude? Can they save Kristina’s Sister? I really enjoyed this book because of all the beings that have a part in the book. Its filled with Action and some really hot sizzling passion.
A.K. Michaels -- The Black Rose Chronicles, Deceit and Lies Rose is born in a time where supers are free to walk the earth but more than that, they are free to destroy it all as well. Rose's mother is a witch and her father a werewolf and someone is out to destroy all witches. Rose’s mother knows they are coming and she hurries off to the hiding place although her mother does not stay with her. Rose is soon taken to a friend of her father’s home his name is Seth and he is a witch. He trains Rose, and comes to love Rose although he knows she is not his mate. Rose is a powerful Assassin and is hired by the council to take out those who are killing and doing other horrible things. She does not kill however until she knows it’s a warranted need. The new head of the council is a powerful demon and after taking on the job Rose finds she can not follow through with it. Cassius the vampire she is sent to kill does not seem to be as he is portrayed. Can Seth, Cassius and Roses father keep her safe? What will the head of the council do to her? Well grab you a copy of this book that is filled with paranormal beings and get reading. I do believe I have a new favorite book by this author.
Aubree Lane -- Catamount Ridge A Family finally moves into the house that took a beating on a marriage only to have one nightmare after another happen. A child lost and now one has to come to grips with wierd things happening. What does a woman do when she meets Fire and Ice?
Wynter Daniels -- Spirited Seduction
I loved this book it is so sensual yet we get that hint of paranormal also but nothing fierce. Ryan' sister was murdered and now she is trying to contact him but urges him to go to her best friend Emily who is a physic. Well Ryan has never believed in that stuff but seeing Emily again is always a great thing. Emily has always had a huge crush on Ryan but he or at least she feels like he never showed an interest and now that he is around her those feelings stir. Well when you add two people who are attracted to each other together, have them try to solve the murder of someone they both love the only thing that can happen is True Love. Once Upon a Midnight
A great collection by some fantastic authors all for the bargain price of 99pennies ! The best part of course is that ALL the money is going to the Epilepsy Foundation. Dark wolf rising by Stephanie Rowe 5* A fantastic book with a constant flow of drama and excitement. Bryn is under protection whilst waiting to testify and the last thing she expects is a face from her past to show up with instructions to kill her. With betrayal and murder surrounding them, both old and new loyalties are tested. Cash is the perfect combination of a dangerous Alpha male Shifter oozing raw sex appeal and dark torchered soul with a vulnerable side that makes you want soothe his demons whilst simultaneously ripping his clothes off ! You dive straight into the story from page one and I want to say the excitement doesn't stop till the very last page, but actually, it doesn't stop there because it's left me wanting to jump straight into the next book. If you like shifter books with a good storyline then this is definitely the book for you.
Deceit and lies by A K Michaels 5* A k Michaels has truly excelled herself
What a fantastic start to this new series. Some books you know as soon as you start reading them that they are going to be epic, this is one of those books.
Rose is a kick ass heroine and Cassius (ancient vampire) and Seth (witch) will be your new book boyfriends, throw in a powerful Demon ( Basilius) with a hidden agenda and with a whole host of other supernaturals added to the mix, believe me when I tell you that you will not want to put this book down till you've turned the last page, (2am I finished) As for the ending OMFG ! Edge of the seat stuff. I cannot tell you just how awesome I think this book is except to say it's a must read and 5 stars just isn't enough.
Fated by Fire by Kelly Cozzone was a great book. I loved reading Gareth's journey to find his soul mate. Gareth is the heir to the red dragon clan. Gareth meets Cadence and his dragon goes crazy and wants to make her his own. Although Gareth just found his soul mate there is a force that will try and separate them. Maleon is the leader of the white dragons and wants to use the land, I loved reading Fated by Fire. Kelly Cozzone is an amazing author, I can't wait to read more by her.
Catamount Ridge by Aubree Lane was a great book. I loved reading this book and loved all of the characters. Catamount Ridge is the rewriting of Aubree Lane's great book Sierra Mist. Jessie is a very determined woman who finds out that her hometown is full of secrets. This story follows Jessie unraveling the many secrets. I loved the changes that were made to the ending and the book in general. This is another must read by Aubree Lane.
Moonlight serenade by Diane Rinella was a great read. I loved reading Dale and Bailey's story. Bailey is in a dead end relationship and hates her job when she meets Dale a successful salesman that can tip her life upside down. This was a great story and I can't wait to read more of it.
I loved reading Fallen by Nicole Garcia. I loved seeing characters from Bitten as well as learning more about Rhett and Gia. I can't wait to read more of this series. I love all of the twists and turns of the story. Gia and Rhett are two of my favorite characters. Gia is hard headed and both are stubborn. This was a great book that recommend to everyone.
This is an awesome box set put together by great authors and it benefits the Epilepsy Foundation! I've not read them all but I have read some and so far I am loving it. Here's what I read so far and I will be adding more to my reviews once I get them read. :)
Fangs of Anarchy by Dakota Fanning. I'm not hugely into the MC but this one...I really loved! They both have been into each other for a long time. However, because they are on opposite sides vampire/werewolf its just not done. Think a twist of Romeo and Juliet but dont worry they dont die :) Claire supposedly kills her intended who was a nasty piece of crud. However, Irish refuses for her to take the fall because that would mean her life. Well you gotta find out what happens cause I ain't tellin you but its awesome! This is fairly gritty and I loved it. Both characters were awesome and I'm a fan of Dakota anyways so this was awesomely done!
Fate of Her Dragon by Julia Mills. Book 10 in the series. This is about Rayne's Uncle Dragos who was thought dead over a 100 years ago. He was labeled The Assassin because he was so good at being a Guardsman and really tough. Him and his brethren were taken and shoved into black magic infused coffins. Now, we dont know the whereabouts of his brethren or if they survived or not. He's been awake this entire time enduring sooo much pain. He calls out for help only to find his mate! How cool is that? Alicia...she thought him crazy or herself at first. Then realized he's real and is in dire need of help. He's only been able to reach her only. She's desperate to find him and calls upon the clan and others to help get him out.
1. Fangs of Anarchy by Dakota Cassidy Not Interested
2. Dark Wolf Rising (Heart of the Shifter #1) by Stephanie Rowe *1 Star Bryn witnessed a murder and is attacked while in witness protection. Thankfully for her, her childhood best friend Cash is part of the wolfpack that comes looking for her and he saves her. I stopped reading when they make it to the safe house. I just couldn't get into how they still know each other so well. Things happen and people change, for Bryn to be so pushy about how she knows him so well just irked me. And since I already wasn't into the story I decided to call it quits.
3. A Shade of Midnight (Midnight Shifters #4) by Renee George ***3 Stars Mina unwittingly finds herself in the middle of a power struggle, which has way more ties to her than she would have guessed. Her two love interests are also in the thick of things, one being accused of murder and the other one investigating said murder. This was ok, short and sexy. But, it could have used another round of editing. When there were more than 2 characters involved in a scene it was difficult to follow who was speaking and what was going on at times.
4. Fur Ever Yours (Black Paw Pack #1) by Melanie James *1 Star Rafe is an Alpha werewolf who has been avoiding finding his mate until she stumbles upon his pack lands. She is beaten, malnourished, wearing a silver collar and seems on the brink of death. Rafe forces the mate bond to find out who is responsible and thinking maybe he can help heal her wounds. For this, his mother seriously acts like he was the one who beat his mate. I think when someone's life is so obviously in immediate danger that forcing the issue is acceptable. So, since I was obviously supposed to feel endeared toward this woman for threatening to kick her son's ass....I decided that this one just isn't for me.
5. Aaibhe-Shee Queen (Legend .25) by Claudy Conn **2 Stars A fae queen falls in love with a human druid and her former fae lover seeks revenge. This had an ok story but no feeling.
6.Broken Pieces by Toni Aleo **2 Stars So something about the descendants of Dr. Frankenstein being immortal and ruling over a town of werewolves, witches, vampires and such. The story centered around Oceanus and his forbidden love for the werewolf princess. For a novella, there was just too much going on and was actually quite boring considering the subject matter. I think I completely checked out though, when one of the characters used the word "youse".
7. Fated by Fire (Dragon Fire #1) by Kelly Cozzone **2 Stars The red dragons can defeat the white dragons forever with the help of Merlin's descendent. The idea seemed interesting but the execution was lacking. I really hate the forced endearment of sweetheart, so irritating and disingenuous. I also found it choppy, Cadence was all "I'm tough go away" then "ok you're right I want you" then "wait just kidding I'm mad at you for no reason again"...as you can imagine the story did not have a very good flow to it.
8. Bound by Joy (Cauld Ane #8) by Tracey Jane Jackson **2 Stars Kenna and Gunnar meet, they're mates and live a ridiculously happy ever after. The story started off pretty interesting, but besides a random shooting and minor labor difficulties nothing happened. The most stress they had was thinking about where to go for Christmas. It was almost like an extended epilogue...but it was way too long for that so it was just boring.
9. Immortal Envy (Immortal Obsession #1) by A.D. Justice **2 Stars Two brothers become obsessed with the same woman. One loves her and the other wants to drink all of her blood. They both feel like they are betrayed by the other and start hating each other. That's the gist, it was ok. A lot of random sex scenes kinda felt forced and out of place...and really took away from a halfway decent story.
10. The Fate of Her Dragon (Dragon Guards #10) by Julia Mills Not Interested 11. Created Darkly (Kris Chase #1) by Gena D. Lutz Not Interested 12. Moonlight Serenade by Diane Rinella Not Interested
13. Catamount Ridge by Aubree Lane ***3 Stars The premise is that two mountain lion shifters need a human woman to nurse their cubs so that they too become shifters. The both go about it in very different ways, but both are super sneaky. Jessie is the chosen surrogate and she really isn't on board with either plan. Oh and apparently there are a bunch of people who know about the shifters but didn't feel like Jessie needed any information, even though she was the one being targeted. This was weird, and kind of confusing but had an interesting story that I wish was more clearly laid out.
14. Deceit & Lies (Black Rose Chronicles #1) by A.K. Michaels ****4 Stars The world is in shambles after a war between humans, werewolves, witches, vampires, fae and every creature out there really messed things up. On top of that witches were being eradicated for reasons no one could explain. As a half breed (witch & werewolf) Rose works hard to keep her DNA a secret and uses her formidable killing skills to work as an assassin for the Council. She is tasked with killing a vampire who is allegedly looking to take over the world...but soon after meeting him she realizes that is a lie. But reneging on a deal with a powerful demon isn't a great idea. I actually really enjoyed this one. The story was interesting and that characters had depth. I would have liked to know a little more about the world and the Council and such but overall a very good story.
15. Spak by P.M. Briede *1 PR Star It was kind of a nice idea to break up his letter into chapters but I honestly just couldn't get into the characters...at all.
16. Bear-I-licious Cowboy (Aphrodites Love Connection #1) by Jami Brumfield Not Interested 17. Lucky Blow by Amanda Washington Not Interested 18. Spirited Seduction by Wynter Daniels Not Interested 19. Fallen by Nicole Garcia Not Interested 20. Darkest Communion by Michele E. Gwynn Not Interested

This box set is amazing with so many awesome authors that I love read!!!
The Fate of Her Dragon (Dragon Guards #10) by Julia Mills
This book is amazing and I just so love this series!!!!! I love Alicia and Drago. Alicia is a white witch who thinks she is losing her mind cause she keeps waking up at a cave that is block by a huge rock and has no idea why. Drago aka Assassin who has been trap in a silver box and under ground for over hundred years has just feels his mate is near by and try to mindspeak her to save him.
This just one of the amazing stories in this set so check out grab your copy today!!!!
This is a review of Immortal Envy by A.D. Justice: This book just proves to me the A.D. Justice can write about anything and make it great!! I was so excited to learn that she was writing a paranormal because I'm such a huge fan of her other work....she blew me away with Immortal Envy!! Immortal love and obsession threaten to destroy 2 brothers and the secrets that they keep. Alea is Slade's immortal love and Ramses immortal obsession. Being brothers still doesn't stop Ramses from trying to take what he believes is his. He appears willing to kill for it until he realized he's in over his head. With a truce signed in blood the brothers go their separate ways.
This is a review of Fallen by Nicole Garcia: This novella is the 2nd Novela in The Club Blood Erotic Short series. This one follows vampire Gia who falls in love with a human named Rhett while dealing with being hunted by hunters. The novella is written with well developed character's & plot. This novella is a steamy sexy read. If you like vampires & action you will love this. This novella has surprising twists & turns. I recommend reading this novella as you will not be disappointed. I was given a free copy in exchange for a honest review.
Loved this collection. It was great to have something new from authors that I read and a great way to be introduced to a few authors that I hadn't read. A great buy for the price and a fun read.
I love reading anthologies. I find so many amazing authors. I discover new genres. I can read when I only have a little bit of time, without the pressure of having to finish.
Lots of opportunities with this book to have a number of follow on books. Great writing from A D Justice, again... Really enjoyed the dynamic of the characters and plot line.
Created Darkly by Gena D. Lutz **Book provided by author for an honest review** Let me break it down for you in a more entertaining way... So Kris is the main character of the book, and she is a neromancer, which is a person who can see ghosts and raise the dead in the form of a vampire. Yes! She can create vampires!! However, Kris has a rebellious streak in her that prevents her from doing her formal duty, and instead she hunts and kills said vampires. Kris's vampire hunting/killing extra curricular activities are being kept a secret from her dear, so called innocent, younger sister, Torra. Kris was forced into early motherhood with raising her younger sibling after their mother abandoned them. Then, one day, Kris receives a visit from Rush Davis, a council member for "The Center," notifying her of Torra's abduction from "The Center's" parking garage.
Oh my gosh, where do I start! So, Kris has been killing the vampires that she has been led to by the ghosts of the people that the vampire killed. She seems to have a strong need to help ghosts however she can, which leads us to her best friend, Jude. He is a ghost who refused to "go to the light" and to tell her how he died. Jude is content with living with Kris and helping her with her mercenary lifestyle. Kris is also uneducated thanks to mother and the Center about her powers, how they are to be used and about the history of her own family and the Center's. So, she is sporting the Clueless badge with Alicia Silverstone.
Rush is a necromancer like Kris, but unlike Kris, he and his family for generations have served the Center and are a very wealthy family of high standing. He has also been periodically calling Kris to try and get her to come and join the Center, but with her stubborn streak, the attempts smack him in the face. Rush has only been reaching out to Kris in his weird way to keep close to her because he has a major boner for her! Torra is, as far as Kris is concerned, unaware of all this necromancer business and has just graduated High School and is getting prepared to go off to college when she is kidnapped.
The kidnapping takes place in the Center's parking garage where a note was left by the kidnapper, addressed to Kris. In the note, she was left strict instructions to leave the Center out of this and that he will contact her by phone with the next instructions. So in Die Hard with a Vengeance fashion, as Simon leads John McClain through riddled tasks, Kris blindly goes where Wolf, the kidnapper, tells her to. By her side to assist are Jude and, unknowingly, Rush. Rush had decided on his own to watch over Kris, his woman, to make sure no harm comes to her. Even though Kris is very anti-Center, she can't deny the attraction she has to Rush, and in the mist of solving the riddle, we watch the bond form and the sparks fly between these two knuckle heads and even partake of some bow chicka wow wow in between.
As this unlikely trio pushes forward in a rush to find Torra and discover who is behind the kidnapping and why, Kris uncovers some serious family secrets that blow her mind! It seems that no one in this family is honest or trustworthy of each other, and instead of comprehension occurring, only more questions and confusion come to plague Kris. This story was filled with so many intriguing characters that Kris obtains knowledge from and even, dare I say, becomes friends with, that she was just about forced to take off her blinders and see people for who they really were and not what she perceived them to be. I found it really sad also that Kris did not know her own heritage. She had to find out about her own abilities and descendants from strangers! She had no clue what she was capable of doing! How embarrassing, right? And the fact that Rush, and everybody else for that matter, gave her massive shit for it was unbelievable! But, then again, I guess we all do that on a daily basis, like assuming the cashier at Wal-Mart knows how to ring up a coupon or that a librarian knows how to find a book!
In the final chapter of the book, I was glued to the virtual pages on my Kindle! The story had taken me from point A to B in such an incredibly creative, intriguing way, I never thought for one second I could guess how this story would end! I can't wait to read the next book to find out how everyone falls into their places, especially with Rafe and Torra, wink wink, not telling you about Rafe. He's a story of his own that you will have to read for yourself!
CATAMOUNT RIDGE Jesse returns to Catamount Ridge as the new head of the Forrest ranger office. Her father still lives in the house he built there years ago. Jesse was in the Forrest when she is attacked by a join lion, then that lion is attacked by another one. Jesse runs to get away from the lons while she can but her truck isn't where she left it. She continues to run down the road when her truck pulls up, she jumps in and it is driven by the Forrest ranger, Derek. He takes off and she hit her head on the dashboard. Jesse wakes in a cabin, where she remembers having sex with Derek, he is no where around. She gets dressed goes to her truck and starts back to town, she wakes in the hospital.
Things really get complicated and interesting from this point on. This book is very well written, gets your interest from the beginning.
FATED BY FIRE I first read this when it was a short story and have been looking forward to reading the complete book. Gareth is going to be the leader of the red dragons one day and must find his soul mate to give him more strength. Maelon is the the future reader if the white dragons and wants to destroy Gareth and take over his country. Maelon needs to find and destroy Gareth's soul mate before he finds her and they have the mating ceremony.
Gareth goes to Boston to open his company's new branch and meets Cadence who is to run this branch of the business. His dragon recognized her as his soul mate. Maelon tries to destroy Cadence. Gareth must convince Cadence to return to his land and to have the mating ceremony before Maelon succeeds in destroying her. You will need to read to see what happens. You will not want to put this book down until you have finished it. I am looking forward to reading the next book.
MOONLIGHT SERENADE. Bailey is in a relationship that just isn't working. Has a job that isn't really what she wants to do. Dale is a successful salesman, using any means to close a deal. He is promoted to the job of his dreams. With the help of friends, a little paranormal influence they end up giving up the things that aren't really making them happy. This is a fun, music filled story. Ms Rinella has a way of grabbing your interest from the first page and keeping it to the end. This is one you won't want to miss. Looking forward to reading more in this series.
FORBIDDEN ALPHA
Claire is to mate with Gannon, but she had murdered him.
Irish sees lights in the old bar and goes to check it out thinking it's teenagers looking for trouble. Irish discovers Claire in the bar with Gannon's body and a terrible mess. He questions Caire why she did this, does she realize what's going to happen to her? He helps her by taking the body to dispose of, tells her to clean the bar and get home.
Claire is a werewolf, Irish is a vampire. They are forced to live in a village with other paranormal when the government finds out about them. They are governed by their councils. Claire and Irish cannot be seen together or be together, they are drawn to each other. Claire must find some proof of why she killed Gannon to keep from being killed by his brother & dogs. She gets herself involved in things she shouldn't and Irish comes to her rescue several more times.
This kept me reading to find out if Claire finds the proof she needs to keep from being murdered, what happens between her and Irish. You won't want to put this book down. This is the first book I have read by Dakota Cassidy and I will be reading more.
A couple of the books were good, a few so-so, and the rest way to cheesy! 2 of the stories could have been better edited, as it was a disaster! Stephanie Rowe wrote a very good novella, I enjoyed reading it very much!
What a chockful anthology. Unlike other anthologies this is full to bursting of FULL LENGTH books - not just little short stories! My review will get updated as I get through it but here is my reviews so far:
Deceit and Lies by AK Michaels
Brilliantly different read by AK Michaels. Set in a dystopian future rather than a paranormal present day, this book had an entirely different feel. It felt quite dark and gritty but still with the edge of humour you expect.
The world has been plagued by a inter-species war and witches have been hunted to almost extinction due to a dark prophesy. Rose is part witch, part werewolf and the survivor of a witch hunt when she was a young child. Left with a guardian whilst her father hunted those who hunted them, she is trained well...too well you could say by her fathers friend, Seth, and becomes a lethally effective assassin - The Black Rose.
She is sought out by the Demon, Basilius, to take down a rogue Vampire, Cassius Allarde, who is seeking to unite all "supers" under his commend and take over the world and hunt humans without regard. But Rose does not follow orders blindly, she researches her targets well and only kills when she knows, without doubt, that they are worthy of death.
When she goes to meet the engimatic Cassius, under the guise of working for him, she is hurt by a "super" and wakes up under Cassius' care. The man she meets has little in common with the intel she has been provided. So Rose gets to work determining the fate of Cassius and his followers before she concludes her assignment.
NO spoilers here but there is a cliffie (damnit!!!). I loved all these new characters. Rose, mysterious hybrid assassin; Seth - Ex Special Forces Soldier and Witch; Cassius - Vampire High Duke and all around hottie and Basilius - the new power hungry Demon leader of the Council (think paranormal UN).
There are also great secondary characters that I hope we see more of in the other books in the series such as Sue and Valentine (who I think are adorably self effacing). There are also a slew of icky bad guys that by the end of the book you will be making up your own tortures to inflict on them (brilliantly written slimebags!!!!)
I read this in one go as I could not put it down and it was a well paced story with snappy dialogue and great interplay between the characters - both allies and protagonists! There are also nods to other paranormal authors throughout the book, the author is not afraid to highlight the work of other authors or to take a pop at certain sparklies!
Jessie Marcus finds solace as a Forest Service Ranger but after an attack by a mountain lion she is no longer sure what is happening. There to rescue her was Derek Foster yet something is not right with his account of what happened and now Jessie doubts herself.
When Jessie meets Isaac (Ice) Foster, Derek's cousin, she is more confused on who rescued her from the lions and how it seems as though the lions are stalking her.
Will Jessie be able to figure out what is happening before her own life is in more danger and will she be able to protect her own family from the dangers that lurk in the forest?
This book definitely has you questioning the whole way through what happened and who is on which side. I knew that Jessie's account was accurate but I had no idea which of the cousins were involved in certain things and the book kept me involved until everything was sorted out.
The book starts out with such sadness and as you learn more about Jessie you realize how much she grew up in that one event. During the book she really questions herself due to what she can remember and I was super surprised at her actions at the very end of the book as it almost seemed out of character for her no matter how her heart felt.
I was surprised with The Guardianship and how Grace Langston took such an aggressive stance. The sweet teacher was no more!
In a way I was sad that it looked like the shifters would possibly come to an end as I love shifters.
*So far, this review is only for The Fate of her Dragon by Julia Mills*
Love this series!! I love dragon shifters! The Fate of Her Dragon is about dragon shifter, Drago, who has been trapped for 100 years, and Alicia, who is a witch and his mate. There was a disruption in the black magic holding Drago, so he was able to reach Alicia through their mind link to ask for assistance in escaping his prison. Alicia doesn't know what to think about the voice she keeps hearing in her mind and about her being Drago's mate, but she feels a pull towards him, and sets out to help save Drago. I loved all the witch ceremonies, and I loved the bits of action throughout the story. And of course I loved the romance! One of the things I love about shifter romances is the fact that they have mates, it makes for some really sweet, deep romances, and I just love how protective the shifters are of their mates. This book is entertaining and interesting, and even though it is a short story, the story felt complete and full to me. We get dual POV in this book, which I love, and although there are characters from the previous books, I believe this book can be read as a standalone, but you'll will be getting wee spoilers about the couples from the previous books. I'm really looking forward to reading more from Julia Mills!
I only got to read Broken Pieces by Toni Aleo and I am just blown away! The whole time I was sad thinking there is no hope for Teagan and Osh and then dreading the end bc of how Pieces ended but omgggg I just LOVE the world Toni created!!!! I love how Osh, Cyrus, Jonas and Rebekah love each other. They inspire each other. Look out for one another and yeah they would die for one another. I got all kinds of feels learning about Teagan and Osh it was so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time! I can't wait to see what happens and I don't want anyone to die well I mean if it their dad's time anyway. Like I wonder if Teagan's mom knows about the affair and that Ryland could be her step son. What will the Kelleys say I hope Teagan doesn't go missing! I hope Osh finds Rebekah in time. He should bring Cyrus with him. So many things my mind is racing and it is 2:07am lol sighhhhh. I love how Osh saw how much ryland cared and that he let his sis follow her heart ughhh en though he didn't know about the formula I love this story to PIECES! Love love love thank you Toni for another AMAZEBALLS bomb dot com read! I was having all kinds of feels and moping around but the ending gave me HOPE so I'm excited!

I bought this collection so I could read Broken Pieces by Toni Aleo. I loved her book Pieces, which turned out to be one of my favorite paranormal reads, so I was very excited to read a novella from a different character's POV. I loved reading some new scenes and there were some scenes that were repeated. I could've done without most of the repeated scenes, but it was interesting that they were from another POV. After reading Broken Pieces I am more than ready for the second book in the Patchworks Series.
I started reading this books and got side tracked by some of the authors who wrote the stories. Overall the book was excellent! I have several authors whose novels I am reading. There two stories in the book that I struggled with. Moonlight Serenade was a first person story which I managed to finish but felt the story was lacking in depth and boring. The second story was Spark which after several tries I never got past the first few pages. BORING was the story!
All these stories have love, intrigue and many are filled with comradery. There are some grammatical errors in a few but most are well written. A few have spin offs that I will look into reading.
I loved this whole thing! I felt every emotion of every story and have found some new authors to read as well as some I've already come to love. For such a great cause, as well
