How holographic patterns of information underlie our physical reality
• 2017 Nautilus Silver Award
• Includes myriad evidence from a wide range of cutting-edge scientific discoveries showing our Universe is an interconnected hologram of information
• Explains how consciousness is a major component of the cosmic hologram of information, making us both manifestations and co-creators of our reality
• Reconciles Quantum Mechanics and Einstein’s Theory of Relativity by showing that energy-matter and space-time are complementary expressions of information
Our understanding of the Universe is about to transform at all levels, from the tiniest Planck scale to the vast reaches of space. Recent scientific discoveries show that the information that upholds all of our modern technologies is exactly the same as the universal in-formation that underpins, pervades, and is all we call physical reality.
Exploring how information is more fundamental than energy, matter, space, or time, Jude Currivan, Ph.D., examines the latest research across many fields of study and many scales of existence to show how our Universe is in-formed and holographically manifested. She explains how the fractal in-formational patterns that guide behavior at the atomic level also guide the structure of galactic clusters in space. She demonstrates how the in-formational relationships that underlie earthquakes are the same as those that play out during human conflicts. She shows how cities grow in the same in-formational ways that galaxies evolve and how the dynamic in-formational forms that pervade ecosystems are identical to the informational structures of the Internet and our social behaviors. Demonstrating how information is physically real, the author explores how consciousness connects us to the many interconnected layers of universal in-formation, making us both manifestations and co-creators of the cosmic hologram of reality. She explains how Quantum Mechanics and Einstein’s Theory of Relativity can at last be reconciled if we consider energy-matter and space-time as complementary expressions of information, and she explores how the cosmic hologram underlies the true origin of species and our own evolution.
Concurring too with ancient spiritual wisdom, the author offers solid evidence that consciousness is not something we “have” but the fundamental nature of what we and the entire Universe are. With this understanding, we can each transform our own lives and help co-create and in-form the world around us.
Jude Currivan, Ph.D., is a cosmologist, planetary healer, and futurist. She has a master’s degree in physics from Oxford University specialising in quantum physics and cosmology and a doctorate in archaeology from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom researching ancient cosmologies. A coal miner’s daughter, she has experienced multidimensional realities from an early age, has since traveled to more than 70 countries and worked with wisdom keepers from many traditions. She is a life-long researcher into the nature of reality and integrates leading-edge science, consciousness and universal wisdom teachings into a wholistic wholeworld-view. The author of 5 books and a member of the Evolutionary Leaders circle, she lives in Wiltshire, England. Her forthcoming book The Cosmic Hologram (Inner Traditions Spring 2017) is the first of the Transformation Trilogy.
Very interesting and informative. I tend to agree with the theory that we are all connected, all one, and I think it's possible that we very well could not just be conscious, but that we are consiousness ourselves. This book wasn't a very easy read and some parts were slower to get through than others for me, but overall a good book that I would recommend if you're interested in this kind of subject. The fact that we could live in a holographic universe and that we could be co-creating our realities is something that I have wondered if it was possible before. It's good to know I'm not the only one who has ever thought that this could possibly be our collective reality. I also agree with many other things that were mentioned in this book. I received an advance copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Complete horsefeathers. I heard the author speak and was significantly underwhelmed. As dippy as the woo-woo gobbledygook popularized by Deepak Chopra. A ripoff of Ken Wilber's Holographic Paradigm.
I purchased this book primarily because of Dr. Currivan's credentials as a scientist. The first part of "The Cosmic Hologram" lays out a more-or-less scientific argument that everything in the universe is continuously and instantaneously connected to everything else through a holographic effect. There is deep connection between thermodynamic entropy and information, wherein everything that is "real" actually emerges from information stored on 2-dimensional holographic "surface." That surface does not exist within 4-dimensional space-time; instead, space-time is simply an expression or projection of the hologram.
The second part of the book delves into spiritual matters, which are beyond the scientific method.
As I was reading I was really happy that I finally found a good book about the holographic universe theory that wasn't full of woo woo like psychic powers. Then, as I got near the end, Currivan started dragging out the woo woo. Luckily, her main point is that these things should be studied, rather than using them to fully prop up her arguments.
Besides that, this is a probably the best book I have read on the topic, with actual science and math to prop up its claims.
Great read, I really enjoyed this book. Very informative with well organised content evolving from chapter to chapter, with some mind blowing insights into the nature of our universe. Recommended read for fans of popular science, in particular of quantum physics, cosmology, astrophysics.
A very in-formative survey of current theories of astronomic, cosmologic, sub-atomic, biologic, mystic and other disciplines. I would have enjoyed further discussion on some topics but the author seemed driven to cover, in less detail, as many topics as possible to support of her Holographic theory. More details of the comparison between a coherent light generated photographic hologram and the "cosmic hologram" proposed in the book is needed. Is it to appear as one thing but be something else? It was not clear how one spatial dimension holds information and what mechanism is used to project this information into a 3D+Time universe image that we perceive. Describing the connections to details of the holographic theory rather than repeating the holographic theory reference statement throughout the book would have prevented the reading from becoming tedious.
At times challenging due to the level of scientific language used, which might need a re-reading, I found this book to open my own perspective of reality, and I like that. The book also mature the perceptions I already had, and invite me to keep going learning in that direction. This book also has offered me an alternative understanding toward designed vs self-organised principles, as a more complex than either-or choice, opening possibilities to play with both at a higher level of in-formational reality, or consciousness. Last but not least, the way Jude describes conscious purpose resolves a personal dilemma I have had for years, inviting me to meet this internal paradox in a more nuanced, and enjoyable, relationship with my experience of co-creation.
Currivan strides the gap between quantum mechanics and ancient spiritual wisdom with imagery such as Indra’s net. In her lucid explication of an enfolded information system, consciousness connects. “The harmonic and coherent relationships that pervade our Universe and that are the signature of the cosmic hologram manifest through the principle of resonance, which we individually and collectively embody on physical, emotional, and mental levels…Conversely when we’re dissonant, we’re literally out of tune.”
I started reading this, thinking it's a book based on science delving into to the themes of expanding universe, big bang etc.. but I started doubting in the first chapter. In the second chapter somewhere it started saying the universe expands because the information grows, I had to finally stop. Looking at the review from others, it seems the author saying the consciousness is connected etc... the author seems to cherry pick few science theories and equations and apply them to whatever she wants to persuade.
This book goes through quite a bit of science that ends up in a more philosophical and spiritual place. For some readers, it may be a little difficult getting through the scientific parts of the book. Although the writer does a pretty good job of making it more friendly, it is clear they are also trying to reach the scientific minded person. Nevertheless, it is a fascinating book with a great deal of insight into our reality and the connections between ancient wisdom and modern day discoveries.
The entire first part of the book regarding science is kind of boring and dry.. but later part is good. There are some important info in the book. But nothing new or life altering... The net of Indra is worth of investigation and the author mentions good things about. It's a good read overall.
Very thought provoking with many excellent references.
Entertaining and thought provoking. A very different but extremely interesting approach to cosmology and consciousness. The concepts are stimulating and the writing style makes this book an excellent read.
Great read if you like scientific background and detailed analysis. Jude is a very accomplished writer with a great depth of knowledge which shows in her treatment of this subject, very thorough.
Wow! What a fantastic re-creation of the cosmos! I love the idea of the cosmos as a grand hologram where we act as co-creators to its reality. Talk about enchanting!
I was hoping for a more fundamental understanding of how information operates in physical, chemical and biological realms but somehow this book manages to miss providing a solid grounding in the title of the book or even a understandable explanation of what a hologram is.
