In this exciting volume:
THE KUDO IDENTITY
In a remote village, a teenage boy washes ashore with amnesia. It doesn’t take long for him to be identified...as long-missing sleuth Jimmy Kudo! Jimmy’s friends race to restore his memory before he turns back into Conan and his secret identity is destroyed. But things go from bad to worse when Jimmy is framed for murder…
Gosho Aoyama (青山剛昌) is a Japanese manga artist. He is best known as the creator of the manga series Detective Conan (known in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom as Case Closed).
Aoyama made his debut as a manga artist with the work Chotto Matte which was published in the weekly magazine Shōnen Sunday on winter of 1987. Shortly after that, another work by Aoyama, Magic Kaito, was published on the same magazine.
When I read the first 4-5 chapters I was like, this is it. This volume can't get more than 2 stars from me, so boring so far and we won't see the Organization until 20 or so chapters later. So imagine my reaction when I saw Shinichi!!! Great mystery! Loved it! Too bad the start wasn't strong or it would have been 5 stars for sure.
Such an intense volume with plenty of curve balls. None of my predictions for the Jimmy Kudo amnesia story were even close. And just when I thought the novel was going to end all nicely tied up, NOPE. I gotta get my hands on the next one, NOW.
THE FUGITIVE’S TRAIL: AZUSA’S DESPERATE SEARCH While at their usual diner, Kogoro, Ran, and Conan learn that Azusa’s brother has become a prime suspect in a murder case. As the police interrogate Azusa, she receives a package of cookies before unexpectedly vanishing while under Takagi’s supervision. Conan quickly deduces that she has gone to meet her brother, setting off a tense chase to uncover the truth.
A DINNER INVITATION TURNED DEADLY Eri invites Ran and Conan to dinner with a friend seeking legal help—she believes someone is stalking her husband. But the evening takes a dark turn when they arrive at her home to find the husband strangled with his own necktie. As her odd behavior raises suspicion, Conan and Eri struggle to crack her seemingly airtight alibi.
THE CURSE OF THE SHIRAGAMI AND A DANGEROUS FRAME-UP Heiji takes Kazuha, Conan, Ran, and Kogoro to East Okuho after receiving a mysterious letter addressed to Shinichi, claiming an error in one of his past deductions. Upon arrival, they find the sender has been missing for a year. Conan sneaks away and is trapped in a shed, unknowingly taking an APTX 4869 antidote that transforms him back into Shinichi. When found amnesic by a riverbank, the villagers believe he has been cursed by the Shiragami deity. As they investigate the old murder case, Shinichi is soon framed for stabbing a journalist, forcing Heiji and the others to hide him while racing against time to prove his innocence.
General Synopsis: As mentioned above, I am going to write a proper review for this soon, but I have a few books ahead of this one in the queue, so I cannot stop reading DC NOW! That's sacrilege. I have decided to read all the chapters available up to now (we are almost to 1000!) As you can see, I am totally fangirling over here and I don't care, because this is one of my favorite manga series, ever! But all of this aside, there are a few things I wanted to list so I don't need to go back and look everything up when I do finally sit down and write my fangirl review. ✌🏻
DO NOT click on the spoiler link if you don't want to read all the cases in this volume, because it will ruin it for you. On the other hand, if you're a fan like me or are looking for a certain case (and please note, these are how I have set the cases), etc. click away, that's why it's there.
Another spoiler link, so don't click if you don't want to ruin this manga. I am going to include the characters introduced or as the series continues are in this volume. Personally, I think us DC fans love certain characters more than other (yes, Heiji, I mean you!), so sometimes when we are re-reading this series (like all the time!) you might wish to start at a specific case or start when a certain character is involved.
Characters in this volume:
Personal Opinion: #1, I never call this CASE CLOSED. If you do, you're not a true fan of this series, so don't even bother reading my review or my personal opinions. I'm sorry if I offend you, but you offended me first by telling me you want to read CASE CLOSED or you just love Jimmy.
#2, as you can tell by #1, I read this online. I would never waste my money buying a manga series in english that cannot get the name correct and mess up the main characters to make it appear more "ENGLISH." I am so happy I don't run a blog and this isn't a review on Sailor Moon, #1, because I have a huge soap box tirade against DiC. I also don't think there is anything against reading something online. Comics, which is what manga are, are meant to be read and shared and sometimes paying over $10 is too much in my opinion. Plus, I read the newest chapters as soon as they are released from Japan, because I would never miss a release of DC. So this is my personal shout out to you translators from me, Thank You!
It’s time for yet another volume of the manga series about a teen genius detective trapped in the body of a child!
We open with the conclusion of a case where Cafe Poirot’s waitress Azusa has vanished after her brother was accused of killing his boss with a rifle. Except not by shooting his boss, but by bludgeoning. Japanese firearm laws are strict!
Then a judo expert friend of Eri Kisaki (dub name Eva Kadan, Ran/Rachel’s mother) requests help dealing with her husband’s stalker. She’s not convinced the stalker is real until the husband turns up dead. Eri’s estranged husband Kogoro Mouri (Richard Moore) helps out from a distance…in his own special way.
Then there’s a long case where the Moore family and Osaka detective Heiji Hattori (Harley Hartwell) head to a remote village near a lake where it’s said a shinigami (death spirit) lurks. Conan goes missing, but Shinichi Kudo (Jimmy Kudo) turns up with amnesia. Without his memory, Shinichi seems like a different person; but is he also a murderer now?
That resolved, Shinichi/Conan is in his grown-up form for a while, and is about to have a serious talk with Ran, but murder intervenes!
The shinigami case is an emotional one, involving what looks like one of Shinichi’s few failures, which he might be resorting to murder to cover up. It’s a good story, but there’s no overall plot advancement in this volume, so can be skipped if you are just here for the myth arc.
This volume kicks off concluding a mystery involving the cops, Detective Conan and Rachel Moore. It's over in the first 20 or so pages of the book so I advise you to reread the previous volume it has been any length of time since reading Chapter 61. The next story involves Mr. and (estranged) Ms. Moore as well as Detective Conan and Rachel. This murder mystery involves the Moore's heavily, though all three of them are never in one place at the same time. It's a short but fun murder mystery. The next story is the main story of this volume and involves the reappearance of Jimmy Kudo!?!? But of course, there is a twist.... he's lost his memory!!! As if that wasn't enough now it appears to everyone that he is a MURDERER!?! High stakes adventure fills this volume and makes for a read in which you are kind of itching to see the resolution of the cases! This case concludes before the volume ends, but without missing a beat, jumps right into the next case! Stay tuned for volume 63 of Case Closed!
After a four month break from Conan I am not disappointed at this volume.
1. Let’s start with the first case which ended with this shady guy named Okiya Subaru who is staying at Shinchi’s house hmmm I’m suspecting black org
2. The hammer man case was just filled with cute moments between Sato and Takagi omg so cute 😍💓
3. The case about Mouri reality tv tbh the only highlight is the CAKE AND COFFEE😩💓
4. AND THE GRAND ARC *drum rolls* KAITO KID IS BACK WHOOOOHOOO!!!
5. So happy about kaito kid being back, just seeing him is enough, loved the trick and all, I need the “three two one” cards just to be framed in my room.
Good volume! Sinichi accidentally takes a temporary cure to the drug that has turned him into Conan, and Heiji and he resolve a case Sinichi solved a year ago. The best part of this story is the tension between Sinichi and Ran. They want to tell each other something, but predictably the temporary cure is going to wear off before they can talk. Also, a story with Ran's mother Ari, who is also a very entertaining character. One of my favorite volumes so far, I read it pretty fast.
A local waitress's brother is accused of murder, a Judo champ's husband is stalked and a mountain spirit might have committed a murder that Jimmy attributed to someone else.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I’m reading these too fast. Soon, I’ll have no new volumes to read and I’ll be waiting every 3 months for the newest US release. But I’m enjoying the ride.
Alles in allem also viele vergnügliche Seiten, mein Lieblings-Heiji und Shinichi vereint. Und ein paar süße Szenen mit Ran. Hach.
what on earth shinichi return to his own body! yeah i mean it. dia balik lagi karena profesor agasa salah ngasih obat flue buat conan. padahal senebernya itu obat prototype-nya anti aptx4869 buatan ai yang mau diji dulu ke conan. seneng banget eh akhirnya muncul juga orang ini :D but something odd did appeared too . he was lost his mind guys. bener2 ngeblank! jadi kayak dummy-guy deh si shinichi -,- eh blom sleseeee, masih banyak kejutan. shinichi punya kembaran! eh nggak ding it was all about plastic surgery *saingan ama artis korea -,- * buat cerita lengkapnya baca sendiri aja :p
As usual, Gosho wrote a story which can't be predicted by every one. I guessed that Shinichi turned into normal again and he would chase the black organization people immediately but I was wrong. Gosho had made an unpredictable plot. He wants to show us as the reader that this detective story is worthy to be read. No one can make the plot as well as Gosho. I'm sure the next chapter will be funnier than this one. I'm waiting for the next chapter!
The case of Azusa's brother is solved and Eri gets involved in a case of a dead husband where she basically gives the Alibi to the suspect. Then the highlight case comes up: Finally a case where Shinichi reappears. Though Ran feels like there is something off about him and he seems like he is not his usual self.
Conan kembali berubah menjadi Kudo atas obat yang dibuat Ai. Berarti gampang dong ya klo sewaktu-waktu pengen jadi Kudo, tinggal minum obat hasil racikan Ai.
