Part-time high school student, full-time Soul Reaper, Ichigo is one of the chosen few sword-wielding guardians of the afterlife.

Ichigo Kurosaki never asked for the ability to see ghosts—he was born with the gift. When his family is attacked by a Hollow—a malevolent lost soul—Ichigo becomes a Soul Reaper, dedicating his life to protecting the innocent and helping the tortured spirits themselves find peace.

People in the Soul Society have starting going missing without a trace, and it soon becomes clear that a new foe has arrived—the Vandenreich! Meanwhile, Ichigo and his friends have been lured to Hueco Mundo and trapped in the Hollow world. Can they escape in time to help defend the Soul Society from annihilation?!

Thousand year blood war arc starts.

War, blood, and new enemies, or should we say oldish.

This was a whirlwind full of battles, and I felt teary-eyed with Byakuya's battle. He is my favourite.

Now, to see if Ichigo will make it to the Soul society.

This arc looks promising with new twists to keep us gaping.

Good development of the story throughout the 3 volumes.
From all the fighting going on, I think Captain Kuchiki’s is one of the most impactful.

Aizen started as a “major baddy” but by the end of it not so much, but Yhwach seems to set the bars higher.
Uruhara kind of steals the show as he tends to do, and all the rest is nice - a good read all around.

Pesche is back!

Bleach enters its final arc, and wastes no time getting to the action. The Quincies declare war on the Shinigami, and invade Soul Society pretty early on, while Ichigo is occupied in Hueco Mundo. A lot of the mainstay Shinigami get fights, but only Byakuya really gets a big focus so far, as most of the point of this phase in the arc is for the Quincies to steal as many Bankai as they can. Instead, the biggest Hype Moment of this omnibus is seeing Yamamoto use his Bankai, with his fight against the apparent Quincy leader taking up most of Volume 57.

****

Volume 55: Kurotsuchi and Akon notice the mass erasure of Hollows. New Deputy Shinigami Ryunosuke and Shino join Karakura Town. Asguiaro Ebern, a Quincy, intrudes in Ichigo's house. Ikkaku and Yumichika investigate missing persons in the Rukongai. Quincies approach Yamamoto to declare war. Ebern tries, but fails, to seal Ichigo's Bankai. Assistant Captain Sasakibe is killed. Nel appears to warn Ichigo about something bad in Hueco Mundo. The Quincy leader has Harribel captive. Urahara helps bring Ichigo, Chad, Orihime, Nel, and Pesche to Hueco Mundo, where Quilge Opie has led the extermination of most Hollows. Loly and Menoly challenge Opie. Sun-Sun, Apache, and Mila Rose also appear. Yamamoto tells the Captains to prepare for war against the Quincies. Ichigo starts fighting Opie. Ywach plans to invade Soul Society in the meantime. Kira theorizes the missing Rukongai citizens were taken by Shinigami, which Kurotsuchi confirms for the audience when speaking with Yamamoto, which was necessary to balance the Hollows slain (not purified) by the Quincies. Kurotsuchi also mentions this war is Yamamoto's fault for not killing Ywach a thousand years ago. Volume end.

Volume 56: Ichigo versus Opie continues. Opie believes it's incorrect that Uryu might be weaker. Opie activates Letz Stile, aka Voll Stern Dich. Tres Bestias summon Ayon to assist Ichigo. Opie uses Sklave Rai to absorb Ayon's Reishi and transform further. Kira gets got. Rose versus Nanana Najahkoop. Renji versus Äs Nödt. Komamura versus Bambietta Basterbine. Byakuya versus Äs Nödt. Byakuya, Komamura, Soi Fon, and Hitsugaya all get their Bankai stolen. Like Ebern, Opie cannot steal Ichigo's Bankai. Urahara one-shots Opie so Ichigo can go to Soul Society at Akon's call. Opie was actually still alive, blocks the exit to Soul Society, shoots Chad and Urahara, and puts Ichigo in a Reishi cage. Volume end.

Volume 57: Opie was assigned letter J, The Jail, which is how he trapped Ichigo. Äs Nödt is F, the Fear, and defeats Byakuya using the stolen Senbonzakura. Renji and Rukia are beaten also. Kenpachi off-screens the Y, R, and Q Quincies, then approaches Yhwach. Hisagi fights Driscoll Berci, O, the Overkill, who slayed Sasakibe earlier. Yamamoto steps in, so Berci tries to use Sasakibe's stolen Bankai, which only pisses Yamamoto off. Yamamoto sets Berci on fire, then flies toward Yhwach, with his Spiritual Pressure inspiring all the other Shinigami to get back up. Äs Nödt, the mohawk guy, and the guy with the teeth jump Yamamoto, but he one-shots them. Yamamoto fucks Yhwach up with his Bankai, and mentions a theory that the Quincies need to analyze a Bankai to steal it, which is why they can't fathom the potential of Ichigo's relatively new Bankai and why Yhwach is unaware of how Yamamoto evolved his own. Yamamoto wins, but his enemy asks Yhwach forgiveness, suggesting it wasn't the real Yhwach. Volume end.

While the last arc of the manga was lackluster this new storyline already shows progress. New characters are interesting and the story began with a bang. Doubt it will top the Aizen arc but at least it shows promise.

As time goes by, Bleach has differrent arc-stories that maybe unbearable due to fight scenes after scenes. While I do enjoy the earlier ones, the cutrent arc where Soul Reapers were invaded by Quiencies can be a little bore. Although this volume shows Captain General true form of fighting bankai, I do hope the later volume won't make it worst.
