Things got even more interesting in this volume! After Usui transfers to Miyabigaoka, their relationship is really put to the test. I feel like I’m just so happy for how much their relationship has grown over time. If you compare Misa and Usui here to them in volume 1, they handle their emotions SO differently. They’re honestly such a sweet couple and I love how much they love each other! They really care for one another and each one puts the other first and I think it’s so sweet. There is a lot more of Usui’s family drama and that causes him to leave Misaki and go to England *sheds tear* but it’s so reassuring to see how much they love and trust each other to be apart for so long. They really are soulmates. We also find the truth about Usui’s mom and dad and I thought that was SO interesting! I’m dying to know a little more. I also want to mention: I hate his brother lol and we even got some family drama from misa’s side! but overall, a really entertaining volume! Some of my fav things: Usui taking misa to visit miyabigaoka, Usui’s new classmates visiting misa and Usui popping up, Usui’s wish on the paper 🥹, the way misa talks about Usui, and I SHIP YOH AND SUZANA YEAH! Also loved the bonus story for sakura and kuga hehe they’re so so cute. I cant wait to see how Usui and misaki’s story wraps up in the next volume. GO GET UR MAN MISA🫶🫶🫶🫶

Usually I'm not a big fan of when a character decides to change themselves in order to better match a partner, but in this case it was incredibly well written since they both change aspects of themselves to bring support to the other.

dropped @ chapter 73 but i read the final chapter (85) and was still sad.

lengthy rant ahead
_____

Alright im just not doing this anymore. first 4 (2in1) volumes were great but idk wtf is going on after it. i hold no ill will to this series because i know it quite well and additionally, i do really love the first act. the family drama is just out of place and misaki's tsundere act doesn't develop.

ok but seriously, i just am not a fan of angsty family drama post-the characters getting together. shortcake cake does a similar thing and i do not care. kimi ni todoke has its leads get together at 35% and still manages to keep audience retention by having a large and dynamic cast. i wasn't attached to any of the side characters except for the two guys who we all know are dating, and they don't have any plot focused on them. aoi is (trans?) i don't understand what they were trying to do there with his character. is he trans because he should be and that could be a literal plot idk why they didn't go with that.

i think usui's arc is partially a personal pet peeve of mine. i just hate family drama. maid sama was good as an opposites attract comedy but this was just really boring. toodles

After 16 volumes, you'd think Fujiwara would have plumbed the depths already and come up empty. But 15 and 16 were a surprise as both Usui and Misaki have to deal with the ghosts of their pasts. There are, of course, other lighthearted moments but for the most part, these two volumes focus nearly solely on our favorite couple and their trials and tribulations.

Story: As Usui is thrown a huge birthday celebration befitting a person of his status, Misaki is once again reminded of how far apart socially they exist. But she is well past the point of giving up or questioning Usui's affection for her. When Usui's prep school classmates visit Misaki's school, Misaki's sister is the unwanted focus of one of the prep school's 'beauty makeover' experts. When a hero appears, does little sister also have a suitor? Meanwhile, Usui has decided to finally confront the Walkers and ask to be formally emancipated from the family. But what he will find is a not only a nest of vipers but also truths long kept from him about his mother and father.

There were some nice advances to the story in these two volumes and it was great to see some progression in the overall plot. But with only one 2-in-1 (the final volumes 17 and 18) this looks to tie up nicely and with a great final ending. There are a few small side stories and Misaki's sister's story was very cute as well. Fujiwara continues to mix the humor with the pathos beautifully. In all, looking forward to the final 2-in-1 so I can see how it ends! Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.

I didn’t enjoy how the plot of Misaki’s father played out. It was weird and didn’t make sense. But I’m happy to see the manager supporting Aoi in his cross dressing modeling endeavors. I’m also somewhat liking where Takumi’s story is going. I hope Misaki learns that she doesn’t need to change. I’m looking forward to seeing our main couple unite. I’m still shipping the younger sister and Yoh. Plus, I need more Yukimura and Kanou. Sadly, every time Miss Maria shows up, I’m just like ugh. This is probably more like a 3.6 ish maybe.

I have always loved Kaichou was Maid Sama since I saw it i the beginning mind you i first saw it on youtube but because of that my love for it grew. This volume of the manga is about the big L word LOVE!!! and it is adorable to say the least. You see Misaki try her hardest to work on her manners in a matter of speaking to show that she is worthy of Usui and everyone is just going through the phase" gah its about time" I know I did. Usui on the other hand is trying to learn everything he can about the family he has been trying to block out since forever and wonder how his mother met his father to conceive him and it is a sad story all together. The portion that i really did enjoy is the love going on between Kuga from a rock band UxMishi which when you watch the anime the music is wonderful to listen to in japanese and Sakura his devoted fangirl and his girlfriend. I find it cute that Kuga is finally showing Sakura how much he feels for her but not sure how to show it in general because he is so shy. Love it love it love it!!!

I love this series so damn much definately a guilty pleasure of mine. I can't belive how far the relationship between Misa and Usui has come and I can't wait to see it develop further. I'm anxious as I know I'm coming to the end of the series and I really don't want it to be over.
I also really enjoyed the bonus story in this volume it make me soften up to kuga at bit more.
Also Aoi chan! I love Aoi so much the adorableness cannot be contained.

This was the penultimate 2-in-1. I’m not ready for this to be over. The second they officially got together they had to be separated. I enjoyed seeing Misaki finally open up and let her guard down around Usui. I do enjoy seeing more of Usui’s background. His “family” was really making me mad. I’m having a bitter-sweet moment as the series comes to an end, can’t wait to see how it’s all tied up. Also, the bonus story at the end of Vol 16 has been my favorite, it was very cute.

Volume 15

AHHHHH!!!
Such a great book!!!
I really enjoyed these books, and I would recomend them to almost everyone!
My only complaint is Aoi-chan. I can't figure him out. I understand liking cute things, but pretending to be a girl while strongly proclaiming you are a boy is just confusing. (He is a boy by the way)

This volume continues the love story and drama Misaki and Usai; however, readers learn more about the life and background of Usai and his parents who have only been mentioned and never seen until now! On top of this, Misaki is struggling internally with what to do with to do since Usai is gone.

I love it when a couple trusts each other. Like sure, being insecure and validation is nice and all, but give me two people who know 100% that the other one will keep choosing them day after day. That’s where Misaki and Usui are and I’m living.

I like the Sakura story at the end. It's so sweet, but at the same time I don't much like Kuga and it kinda seems like he's still playing her. But I guess it's good as long as they're both happy?
