We all go through some trying times as a teenager. As a former teacher, I tried helping my students in any way I could. A teacher does not always see how the things they do can help a student through extremely difficult situations. I am fortunate enough to know one of the authors who contributed to this book. Jessie, your story was a true inspiration to embattled educators everywhere. The way you opened your soul and shared your pain and the inspiration you felt from your teacher should inspire us all. I am thoroughly enjoying this book and hope that the things I did while teaching helped my students as well.
Morale in our building is really low. I decided that one of the ways I could help is by providing teachers some inspiration through Chicken Soup for the Soul books.
I liked this one! It's not devoted only to elementary teachers. It includes essays for teachers all the way up through college.
Most of the stories are told from the teachers' point of view, something I think is needed in our building. Sometimes we need to be reminded that the reward for our struggles won't be visible for years and decades, if ever. We need to be reminded that we're not the only ones struggling. We need more of a sense of community for teachers and this book provides that sense.
I remember reading Chicken Soup for the Soul books as a teen. My mom loved them and often shared her favorite stories. This specific edition pays homage to all the teachers out there who work to mold young minds and do what they can in all different types of schools. From districts without basic resources like books and pencils, to the teacher who worked to give a Special needs Student the encouragement they needed, this book is packed with love.
Once in a while, teachers need to be reminded how they change lives and touch souls. Chicken Soup for the Soul's Inspiration for Teachers is a place to find such a reminder and includes several great stories worth keeping on hand.
The 101 stories are divided into ten general topics, such as "The Teacher Who Taught Me to Teach," "The First Year," and "The Quiet Ones." Some authors write about their experience as teachers. Other authors write about their experience as students. Settings include public and private schools, idyllic communities and struggling communities.
I personally enjoyed reading chicken soup for the soul as a teenager growing up. As a teacher myself, I was excited to read this chicken soup for the soul as I knew these little anecdotes would inspire me to be a better teacher. Some of the stories really touched my heart and I was glad to know that there are many educators out there just like me who have a true passion to teach and reach out the young lives we touch.
A wondrous collection of short stories from individuals who are/were teachers and who were motivated by a teacher. Many will tug on your heartstrings. A must for any teacher to remember why one becomes an educator.
This was my first time reading any Chicken Soup for the Soul books and it was a pleasant experience but I can't say I got too much out of it other than a feel-good vibe from all the short stories from real teachers out in the world. If you're a teacher and you need to be reminded why you started teaching, maybe you're going through a tough time right now, Inspiration for Teachers would be the perfect match.
