I always find it hard to review these types of books, because how can you rate somebody's personal journey on a scale of 1-5 stars?? You just can't. Or maybe you can/have, but I know I can't. You take their story for what it's worth, and either you've gained something from it or you haven't.
I personally enjoyed reading what Khloe had to say because it feels like you're listening to a friend. The way she talks in "real life" or on KUWTK is very similar to how this book is written. She offers some very insightful tips on how to get yourself on track physically, mentally, and emotionally. Unlike other inspirational books on weightless and self improvement, she doesn't claim to have all the answers, nor does she push any weight-loss gimmicks. She presents a very straightforward and easy to understand lesson plan of sorts.
When it comes down to it we all know what we need to do to be the best versions of ourselves we can possibly be, but sometimes it helps hearing somebody else put it all into perspective and that's what this book did for me. So if you picked up Strong Looks Better Naked in the hopes that Khloe would dish all her personal secrets, or those of her family you'll be greatly disappointed. Yes she does use certain situations to provide as examples but that's about it. I was more interested in what she had to say about her struggle than anything else so I wasn't the least bit disappointed.
I also enjoyed the brief excerpts from Gunnar Peterson (trainer to the stars), Dr. Philip Goglia (nutritionist), and Pastor Brad Johnson. They helped further emphasize the points she was trying to make. Knowing how much Khloe admires and respects them, and the fact that they've each played a major part in getting her to where she wants to be, makes their input invaluable.
This is one of the first self-help type books that I've finished in a day. Usually I lose interest and ending up quitting halfway through, but this one kept me interested from beginning to end. So I would say give it a try. It just may help you get (or stay) focused.
