Frustrated with the trappings of being King Alex’s lover, Madeline Black ran away from her life as a slave to seek a life where she was in control of her destiny.

But despite her newly found freedom, Alex still pervades her thoughts and dreams as much as she does his. When Alex manages to find her and rekindle their relationship, he promises to make her his Queen, though the empire is in favour of a marriage to Princess Sofia of Spain.

Although Princess Sofia no longer has feelings for King Alex, she desires Sir Greg Umbridge, the king’s best friend and closest confidante. Sofia knows she would be risking her life, Greg’s, and the future of her home country Spain if she were to get involved with Greg. But she can’t deny her feelings for Greg and is willing to do anything to stay in England, putting on the facade that Alex is courting her.

As Alex fights to win Madeline a title so they can marry, Madeline is forced to learn of her mother’s brutal murder, and the Duke of Axford, the man believed to be the killer.

Can their relationships survive the political pressures surrounding them? Can love truly conquer all?

Half a book when you don't purchase the erotic version

The book was ok. I do feel cheated at the price when it is such a short book. I believed the first book was half sex. Now after reading this book without the sex, it proves it. When the book doesn't have it and goes the the end of a scene that isn't there it comes off as odd because it's not there. So, instead of altering it to fit there seemed to be a cut. I. Reverse it would be cut and paste. Disappointed at the lack of care the author seemed to have. Some chapters were like 2 1/2 pages because the sex was cut out. Example: waterfall scene. They talk a little bit, get undressed, get in was, then pow they are laying in the grass breathing hard. HELLO! The author didn't care one bit about making a chapter such as is even flow a tiny bit.

I had started reading book #1 on wattpad and when both books got published, I quickly snag myself a copy coz it's a really good book!

the attention to detail in this historical fiction is amazing - I'm sure the author did a lot of research for this book.

but at the end, it's the cinderella story that caught my heart. the king and a servant finding love and each other in the most difficult of circumstances and trying to find a way in a world not made for them.

I'll definitely reread this again, prob after I get thru #3 and #1

I didn't want this book to end! I have read Book 1 and now this one.
There is so much to write about. This book picks up with Madeleine running away, and King Alex heartbroken. He sets out to find her, and he eventually finds her and tells her that she is the only woman for him.
Meanwhile Sir Greg, King Alex'x childhood friend, is in love with the Spanish Princess Sophia. She is also attracted to him. I enjoyed him, I laughed and felt so bad for him.
I have to say that I loved this story, it has everything I love in a Historical Romantica, action, suspense, page turner, witty, drama, and an attempted murder plot against King Alex during Lady Madeline coming out Ball.
Sir Greg takes Princess Sophia to safety and they set out to Edinburgh, HolyRood house. On their long trip there alone, they make love and have fun together. Once they reach Holy Rood house, a heavy set Scottish servant, McFadden opens the door and is so funny rude! One morning while Princess Sophia is secretly in Sir Gregs bed, McFadden comes into their bedroom to deliver a Royal message and yells at Sir Greg, "Fack ya, ya get to wake up next to a pretty lass" and "I didna know I was fat until ya got here"
King Alex and Madeline are so in love, it's so emotional, beautiful. He has done everything to make her his bride, his Queen. On their wedding day, Madeleine remembers the first time she saw King Alex, while King Alex cannot keep his eyes off of her as the Bishop is marrying them.

This book is a must read, Book 1 was a beautiful introduction of Madeline and King Alex. Book 2 is filled with so much action, suspenseful page turning and alot of hot and sizzling love scenes!
I am eagerly looking forward to reading Book 3! These are the kind of stories that I will read again, because of how beautiful the storyline is and all the right things a Historical Romance lover in me looks for!!! I Recommend this books!

If you've read the first book, it's ending will leave you impatiently waiting to discover what will become of the main characters... With that being said, after loving the first volume, reading the second book was a must, and I was not disappointed. The story continues with new adventures and unexpected turns, but also with newly discovered strong emotions. If the first book left you as breathless as me, reading this one will only add to the addiction of it! :)

An eye opening series

I loved all three of these books. Alex and Madeline a Cinderella story. While Greg and Sofia on the other hand are a very comical couple. Susanna is a Princess that knows what she wants and is not afraid to get it. All three of these couple make this series hard to put down until the end. I recommend them to anyone who love a little bit of naughty in with the nice.

I've read all three of this series and am forced to agree that:

a) much more editing was required for spelling and (Regency) period consistency.
b) while I enjoy some smutty scenes in a book, I felt that the whole series had too much sex. It's extra disappointing, because the storyline had so much potential!

I hope that future writing takes this into account!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and just like the first part, it was amazing. And I like the way Alex cares for Madeline and was willing to do anything to make her his. And i also liked how finally Sofia accepted & showed her feelings for Greg (Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). I am in a brink of suspense to find out about Madeline's mother Elizabeth Swan. Hope its a good one.

Read the start and end

Very long books. The sex scenes in this one was supposed to be less intense. But to me they are detailed intense. Rather get into the story more. Lots of annoying lose ends like who make sure her farm is ok and who removes the dead body.

This is a beautiful story

I think you could have rap it up in the last book. And move on to writing another you have the gift.
I have read more books then any would be possible so although there is a part three I think I can write my own ending. I look forward to reading more of your work. I wish you continue success in your work. I was very please with book one I went nuts wanting to buy book two but just disappointed that you didn't end it here when you could have and to wait for book three and it not even finish well I think that was your mistake with so many great romance novels and writer it might be hard getting back to book three. Like I said I have wrote my own ending so I look forward to something new and different. As for those thinking of reading your books please do she will keep you wanting more and the books don't leave you unsatisfied.

Excellent, wonderful! 💙

I absolutely adore the storyline behind this novel and I have fallen in love with the characters. I read the previous reviews of this book, and I must say that everyone is completely nuts - I'm so glad I trusted my inner self and didn't listen to the skeptics and read this wonderful story anyways. I cannot wait for the next story and to finish this love tale the author has so delicately woven for all of her readers. ❤

I love the storyline but the sex scenes are too much and too frequent and poorly written.
