Once a miserable sheepherder living on the coast of eighth century Northumbria, Aiden thought he’d found happiness at last when, after Viking raiders took him prisoner, he became the lover of the handsome Norse warrior Einarr and earned his freedom. But Einarr and Aiden’s still new love may be in danger already when, during a raid, Aiden is captured by an old enemy of Einarr’s— the dangerous and rugged outlaw Grímr. Aiden fights to escape and return to the man he loves, but as Grímr races to escape Einarr’s pursuit, Aiden finds his feelings for the desperate outlaw growing. Soon, an even greater threat will endanger all of them, and Aiden will have to decide where his heart lies— with the man who loves him, or the man who needs him.

"Captured" is a standalone sequel to "Raider". It can be enjoyed as a standalone story (you do not have to read "Raider" first, though reading "Raider" would likely enhance your enjoyment).

Please Note: This book contains Adult Language & Steamy Adult Activities, it is intended for 18+ Adults Only. Novella, approx. 50,000+ words in length. HEA (happy ever after ending). Does not end with a "cliffhanger". Contains M/M & M/M/M scenes. History purists be warned, some creative historical license has been taken with this work of fiction.

*3.5* Gay Viking romance, take two (or three).

"If I'm going to the underworld tomorrow, I intend to enjoy tonight to the fullest."

The premise in a little shaky in this second story, but I still enjoyed reading this one.

Aiden thought he’d found happiness at last when, after Viking raiders took him prisoner, he became the lover of the handsome Norse warrior Einarr and earned his freedom. But Einarr and Aiden’s still new love may be in danger already when, during a raid, Aiden is captured by an old enemy of Einarr’s.

More time needed to be spent with the relationship between Aiden and Grímr. The words of affection feel out of the blue and a bit rushed. Overall, I really have enjoyed reading this author’s words. He has a unique style that seems to fit this type of story quite well.

Tropes/themes:
This duo becomes a trio
Historical gay romance
Vikings/English
MM/MMM scenes
HFN poly

I don’t think this book works very well as a standalone. Besides, the first book is quite fun!

*** Are you ready for some action and sexiness ? ***
Here we go... This book follows RAIDERS, but can stand alone. We have more adventure from Einarr and Aiden,
Einarr
plus a new twist with a stranger, Grimr. We open with a magical, lyrical description of their surroundings, and the beauty of the area in which they live. A nearby village had one of the wives killed in an attack on the road. Women by law don't carry weapons, so the crime is serious, and they ask for help. Aiden is captured and then injured trying to escape.
His captor, Grimr

took Aiden to punish Einarr, for treating him badly in the past. Aiden ends up helping Grimr, and hurting his own healing, when Grimr gets ill from his wound infection. Aiden saves his life.
Now, big-hearted, red haired, smaller man, Aiden still loves Einarr,

but begins to like Grimr also. The characters are lively, we get battle, violence, and some hot loving, too. Aiden and Einarr M/M sexiness, plus, M/M/M with the three men's ménage ! I would liked to have seen the three together a bit more ! The tale is exciting, fun, interesting and a real page turner. We see warring armies, and plans for attack. It's a fun, quick book, and you'll be a satisfied reader.
ENJOY !

Here, three is not a crowd ;)

This story continues about six moths later and Einarr and Aiden are still together enjoying life. There are still other clan members that do not approve of their relationship, much less Aiden's role in it. We are able to get more background on Einarr in this book. In addition, we are also introduced to Grímr, a past friend now enemy of Einarr.

Grímr is an outlaw due to a past crime that has something to due with said enemy. As the story unfolds there is also another plot taking place within (which to me is where the story picks up). In the end it leaves it a HFN, which I am hoping will lead to a third book in the series and more obstacles to overcome. I did enjoy this book, however I believe it did not outshine the first.

„Captured” is a sequel to „Raider” written by Jerry Cole.

This book is continuation of Aiden and Einarr’s story. They’re in relationship now, but Aiden doesn’t feel secure, especially when he realizes that he doesn’t know much about Einarr. During a raid Aiden is captured by someone from Einarr’s past - Grímr.

I’ll admit that after reading a blurb I was a little bit scared to start this book. I hardly ever enjoy books where one of main characters finds himself interested in another person. But it worked for me! I enjoyed the whole story. It was interesting and so engaging, that once you start it, you won’t be able to put it down. And I really liked Grimr :D He was a little rough around the edges, but caring and a great guy in general.

Recommended, of course!

MM. Aiden and Einarr’s story continues, but can be read as a stand alone. Aiden is insecure, believing Einarr will grow tired of him and he would have no where to go. Nor does Aiden talk to Einarr about any of this and feels pushed further away when Einarr's past is suddenly brought up. Grímr is an outlaw and takes Aiden to hurt Einarr, but refuses to tell Aiden why. Grímr has been on his own for so long, but Aiden can see the great man beneath all his pain. An interesting story with Einarr's past and present colliding. Explicit. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Very good historical romance

The descriptions of the time period, a favorite of mine, is well researched and come through. My only concern with it was that the triad relationship was telegraphed quite early on and made the ending a bit anticlimactic. I do hope there will be a third book to delve further into the love three men can have for each other.

I really liked this book! It was more than a tale of exploring, raping, pillaging, and plundering the known world. It explored the continuing relationship between Aiden, the English bastard, former slave and recently freed-man and Einarr, the Viking warrior who enslaved him and let him buy his freedom. What happens when their relationship is complicated by neither knowing the other's past history? Will the secrets of the past undermine their love for each other? What happens when Einarr's former lover, Grimer, the outlaw, abducts and tries to seduce Aiden? In addition to the love challenges, the threat of war is ever present. Aiden again risks his life to protect a people who have little respect for him and only tolerate him because of his association with Einarr. Read the book to learn whether Aiden, Einarr,a nd Grimr survive the battle and what follows it.

One good sentence from the book included the phrase, "then don't let it end." I hope more books come soon in this series.

This was a good sequel to Raider which has inspired me to find more MM Vikings.

Lots of good, clean, violent, MMM, Viking fun. Still love Einarr. Love Aiden. Same goes for Grimr.

A surprisingly tender series that I've really enjoyed.

It is a good sequel to the first book in the saga

The author states that it is standalone, and it is, but reading the first book really helps. Unlike the last gay themed book I read before these two Jerry Cole writes gay relationship that feels more authentic. The one I read before this saga seemed like one of those bodice rippers with a damsel in distress except without a bodice. The Norse Saga was a lot more satisfying.

Loved it!

Jerry has done it again. Wow! Aiden, Einarr, and now Grimr had some really harrowing challenges up against them. Poor Aiden and his insecurity. But Einarr being much older thankfully had maturity on his side and loved Aiden through his worries. This was truly a tale of love, epic battles and triumph. I sooo love Jerry's stories.

I absolutely loved this book. With Aiden being free, but loving Einarr was sweet. The fighting seemed so vicious, but good came from it. Loved how Aiden pushed through everything for the ones he loved.

Definitely read the first one before this book so it makes more sense. It was an interesting story but pretty far fetched.

Well, what we have here is a Sweet Viking Fantasy. If this seems like a surprising mix to you I would have to agree. It works, though, if you're willing to overlook many implausibilities (horses that feed and water themselves, for instance).
I remember the first book being grittier and more believable, but both are very satisfying as romances.
