My One Rule: PLAY HARD on the field and IN THE BEDROOM
James: After I save her one night on campus, things get hot and heavy in a hurry. When I say I Play HARD, I mean it. Her creepy roommate doesn’t approve of me, but I don’t care. I’m planning on going pro after college, and no one is going to get in my way. Once we sleep together, I’ll be able to get her out of my mind. I’m sure of it. Her supple and sweet body deserves to have me at least once.
Haley: At first I thought he was my hero, a shining knight who saved me on campus one night, but it turns out everything they say about him is true. He’s selfish, arrogant, cocky … and SO DAMN GOOD IN BED. This is NOT the type of guy I need, but he’s the exact type of guy I want. When I find out our love may ruin his career, I decide to make the ULTIMATE SACRIFICE for him. I care for him that much.

This book is poor!! Total lack of imagination and the behaviours are no endearing at all. He's a real ass! Whips his 'dick' out on there first date expecting her to to want to go at it. Why she would want to go out with him in the first place when he allegedly saved her the night before from being raped by asking to come in for sex??? Bizarre who would be so insensitive but she's just as bad!!
I actually liked this book, it was a good read for a short story. I believe all of Abbi Hemp books are short stories. And even though James and Haley were having sex more than anything the book still was good. I love sports books that why I decided to read it but I am going to assume that this book is an erotica book by all the SEX!
Abbi Hemp is a new to me author that I quickly fell in love with. Haley and James' story was sexy and suspensful at the same time. Not only do I love these two characters but also the supporting characters.
I'm going to have to say 2.5 stars for me. While this book had some great potential, it seemed a little rough and unfinished. For every event it lacked in its detail and was a little inconsistent for me. It almost seemed as though chunks were missing. So, sorry Abbi, this isn't a review I want you to read as personal dig, because it's far from it. I do wish you all the luck in the world with future w.I.p. I will definitely be watching out in the future.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review....
This story had potential. I loved the characters even though they were underdeveloped. The plot was good - it just needed more. There was a lot of drama that was left unresolved. I liked the fact that we get to see James and Haley 9 years down the road. Abbi Hemp has potential! I can't wait to read the next one to see how far she's grown in her writing!
I have found a new author in Abbi Hemp. Her story seems more autobiographical. Than fiction. This was great read. Highly recommend. Plus it has football.
James and Hailey met in college. Haley worked hard and studied hard. She didn’t have time for games yet when she met James, he was an all games type of guy. She shared an apartment with Tobby, a complete psycho chick who plays for ”both teams”. Hailey thought she and Tobby were just good friends but that is not how Tobby saw it. She saw it that Hailey was hers and hers only and heaven help anyone who got in her way. Her nutty behavior , as the story goes on, puts Hailey’s life in danger. James is a football player who plays hard and goofs off even harder. He sees women like candy and goes thru them as such. He is told by his coach not to have girlfriends and to focus on the game of football because football comes first in life. He ends up on night coming on Hailey being attacked by a group of guys and saves her from being raped. The chemistry is there and they start seeing each other but its more of a simple sexual type relationship because it is just a hookup then friendship then as they really start hanging out, the feelings really deepen. There is a reason why Hailey suddenly stopped seeing him and it wasn’t because she stopped having feelings- more of she was saving him and his college life and his football career. But someone is determined to cause trouble and the ball has started rolling. James isn’t about to let a little trouble scare him off. Will Hailey make it out of her trouble in one piece and will she give James her heart or will she let the trouble keep her away? This is a good college sports romance with danger, romance, intrigue and definitely passion. Tobby is one sick puppy who needs help. James is one hot alpha male who realizes what a gem he has with Hailey. And Hailey- well she is sweet, smart and determined to protect her man. I loved their journey of love –do wish at times it flowed seamlessly but otherwise, it was a good summer read.
** PLAY HARD is a STEAMY standalone romance**
My rating: 4.3 stars **** **I was given an ARC by eBook Itch ARC in exchange for an honest review***
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed the author's 2 main characters Hayley and James. Sports connected them but they could not be farther apart. Fate happened to bring them together one night and James could not believe that Hayley was actually blowing him off.
He was the quarterback of the football team, everyone knew him and every woman wanted him. Not Hayley, she couldn't give a toss about him. She was grateful for his help but that was it. She thought he was way too full of himself.
Hayley is trying to get through school to get her Nurse Practitioners license and then go into sports medicine. She is busting her butt to get through school and get good grades, she doesn't really have time for a relationship. She knows who James is but his reputation proceeds him. But they cannot get each other out of their minds.
This is a good story. Great chemistry and hot! I did enjoy reading it and also the HEA.
This was a good story about James (the star quarterback of the football team) and Haley (fellow student studying sports medicine). There were many turns in this book but I felt it was a bit choppy and there were whole conversations/chapters missing about some details. There were also a couple of points were there was no closure just nothing more said. This is a good read for someone looking for a sport romance without a lot of depth. I think this author has a lot of potential and I look forward to seeing more of her writing.
This first book was bad. I felt like they should have been 13 year olds the way they acted. I could not wait for this book to be over. So immature these two but he was the worst. I didn't bother with the next book, sorry who ever that author was. One book was enough.
Great book. Well written. Exciting and hot. He knows what he wants and goes after it thinking he can hit and run on her body. Well he finds more he likes than he thought. I recommend it and will read it again. Good author. I was given a copy by ebook itch for an honest review.
Heidi and Brent. She's an undercover DEA agent he's the top Weed grower in Colorado. Follow them on their journey! You won't regret it! First time reading this author, but most definitely not the last! Must Read!!
This was HORRIBLE!!! I only made it 4% before I had to quit. sexual assault. Sexual harassment. There's absolutely nothing that could happen that would make me actually like either of the main characters.
I have this thing about finishing a book once I start it. It's rare that I give up on one because I am always optimistic that it'll get better. And to only get 4% in before adding it to my DNF pile? That says a lot.
Read my updates for a better idea why I couldn't force myself to read more.
