And finally: taking time out of my life to read an entire book, then write a detailed review about it that some people on GR will look at would be a profoundly inefficient and ineffective way to damage the careers of other authors. If you can’t credit me with simply being a person who loves books and likes talking about them, at least credit me with enough common sense to be a better villain.

I picked up this book because it was, err, cheap? Or free? And it was a Beauty and the Beast inspired thing and I am always, always here for a Beauty and the Beast inspired thing.
However, I realised that I wasn’t reading in the right sort of spirit simply because I am fundamentally unable to buy the premise. And that, I hasten to add, is not a comment *on* the premise so much as a comment on me. Like, I genuinely don’t believe that any of this book’s setup is less plausible or more outlandish than others I have read.
It’s just one of the important words in “willing suspension of disbelief” is willing. And apparently I wasn’t willing?
Y’see, the hero Declan Hart is … a prestigious, bestselling, internationally famous author of. Uh. Erotic romance?
And I just can’t buy this.
Not because I don’t believe you can’t become internationally famous and hyper wealthy selling erotic romance because several people have definitely done it but a) they were women b) publishing houses generally don’t value romance, and c) erotic romance is not the sort of thing the world ascribes prestige to. And, obviously, I think it’s bad that romance, and erotic romance, are not respected by the industry. But the whole notion of this this playboy erotic romance writer getting all the womenz is beyond ludicrous to me.
For starters, I *am* a romance writer, and there is no escaping the fact that it is a profession that brings you absolutely no bitches* (*outdated meme reference. Not a random gendered insult. If I thought bitches was the common noun for women clearly I would deserve no bitches)
Anyway, arrogant and lovelorn, and bored of all the sexy ladies who want to ride his big ol’ cock, Declan Hart—world famous, highly acclaimed erotic romance novelist—gets drunkenly into his car, crashes and, like, burns his own face off or something?
This gives him a touch of writers block and his latest manuscript, a half completed work of underwear-scorching genius, is now a year past deadline. This leads the publishing company to send a hot chick to his house directly in order to … help?
Now I know publishing is a really complicated industry and we all have different experiences but I have been doing this for nearly a decade and not once … not a single time … have I been sent a hot chick to help me out when I’ve been late on a deadline.
Clearly I need to take this up with my agent.
And let me just reiterate: none of this is *objectively* a dealbreaker in terms of setting up a romance. Of course, it isn’t. This is fiction: a world where any hotel booking will spontaneously turn out to be for a double instead of two singles. But I think what really throws me about all the implausibilities of this particular premise is that … it is a story about a writer written by a writer. Who knows what the job is like. What the industry is like. How things work.
Having said which, maybe that’s the whole point? That this is, in fact, a wish fulfilment fantasy. Not of kinky sex. But of an industry where romance writers are basically as desirable as rockstars and when you fail to fulfil the terms of your contract publishers send you a HEA instead of an irate email to your agent.
So maybe I do get it. I still don’t think I’ll finish the book though.

2* STARS!
This was my first read from Vanessa Booke and I don't regret it even I rated 2 stars. It seems I'm the minor since everybody loved it except me. There are many thing didn't work and too exaggerate at some points.
What I liked:
+ The plot looks promising but in the end, it was a let down. Came from Beauty and The Beast retelling, I feel this was a failure.
+ I liked the writing and it flowed nicely but there are some parts that bored me because unnecessary long.
+ Curious about the next book. Which 'prince' will be in the future story.
What I didn't like:
- Couldn't connect with the MCs. Both Olivia and Declan as the Beauty and Beast.
- Declan was an forever asshole. His pride ate him alive until the accident turns him into a 'beast'. He has ugly heart and face, literally. I didn't like his manwhore attitude. Period. Also I couldn't find any redeeming points just because Olivia changed him in some way that unbelievable.
- I loved the real Belle who isn't a damsel in distress. She enjoyed books and brave. Olivia in this story was kinda like her but after the Beast has fallen into her knees, she became YES-woman.
- I wish this was just a novella because it felt hollow without chemistry which I didn't feel it. Without it, the sex scenes was a no-go for me.
- So so so romantic; full of hearts and flowers. (It seems I entered the wrong hole, Meh!)
Again, the cover whore inside me picked this book and I thought this will be dark. Declan just a tender beast with asshole attitude because traumatized with his past. And Olivia became addicted to Declan since their first kiss/sex. Just lower your expectation, honey. This book still need warning for over-the-top and insta lust romance.

Good modern retelling of Beauty & the Beast by Vanessa Booke.
Declan Hart is an erotic writer, famous all around the world for his spicy books and sensual writing. Arrogant and a womanizer, he has his fun with women only to abandon them. It takes one accident for the playboy to become a damaged man.
Now locked away in his mansion, he is alone and struggling to find his lost inspiration. What he didn't expect was Olivia, his editor's assistant to come barging in to his life.
He is attracted to her but he is also stubborn. Can Olivia help him heal but also make him find his passion for writing again?
The book was fast paced and very spicy. I enjoyed the ride but would have liked some more character development since their attraction was instant.
If you want something entertaining and spicy, then this is for you.

I love a retelling of beauty and the beast and one where the girl is a PLUS SIZE GAL!! sign me uppp!!!
But I'll be honest even if I was super excited for this.. i truly didn't like Declan I know a beast was suppose to be mean and jerkish but the way he acted was more asshole and not a good asshole and I couldn't connect with Declan with Olivia.. I wish I could but idk maybe when he was sorta "fat" shamed her (in my eyes) even if he didn't say the words he kinda went "why would I date or fuck you" when he looked at her in a bathing suit Olivia took that as a call about her looks. Did he get better in the book yes he learned how to control his asshole ways and temper when he spent more time with Olivia.
It was just okay for me. I wish I loved it more.
Low angst, Tiny om drama and Ow (we see him in the beginning having sex and Olivia boss grabs her boob), no cheating, drama, sexy times, manwhore (before the accident now no manwhore)

Yet deep down behind the sunny smile and sweet bubbly demeanor she has secret heartache of her own that needs healing and sees a kindred spirit of sorts in Declan.

As they work together to whip his book into shape a love beyond their wildest dreams soon takes flight. These characters are pure magic together and I not only love how they grow and evolve together but how they both open the world of possibilities and help one another overcome fears and inhibitions so they can truly live life to the fullest! And I am also thrilled that Olivia is a "big girl," but it's not a source of angst. I have seen a delightful trend of generously curved heroines lately and it's one I fully applaud because beautiful, desirable women do in fact come in all shapes and sizes.

The exquisitely talented Vanessa Booke is a new author to me, but she has gained an instant fan in me with this swoony, red-hot romance, and I can’t wait to read more books in her Filthy Fairy Tales series. FILTHY BEAST is a MUST READ for those of us who have a hankering for a super sultry, whimsical modern day fairytale that celebrates the redemptive power of true love!

This was a fantastic read from a good author. I know when I pick up one of her books, I will not be disappointed. And it is a modern interpretation /retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Declan Hart is a sensual writer of erotic stories for which he is known for all over the world. In the beginning of the book, we see he is known to be a quite the womanizer before a horrible accident turns him into “the Beast” and quite the recluse. Now we see he is damaged by the accident, and having trouble writing those beautiful stories that he was well known for . Here is where the lovely heroine comes into his life.
Olivia, his editor's assistant to come barging in to his life. Ready to prove to all she has what it takes to bring him back to life and get him on track but will the beast maul the beauty or will the beauty tame the beast? There is so much passion involved, so much modern queues in this story; we see the damage of the past that hurts the present but the spunky and sassy Olivia is bound to prove to the cool and aloof yet damaged Declan she can help if only he will let her. It is a battle of the wills. Who will win- there are twists and turns and the ending was so beautiful with its simplicity at play. What a satisfying ending. I only wish this was a longer book for I was sad there wasn’t more in the book to keep it going.

Declan was a well-known author and loved his life until an accident makes him shy away from the public. Declan has lost his spark for writing after the accident and his publishing house has sent someone to help him along. Declan and Olivia are attracted to each other but Declan isn’t about to let that show. Olivia knows she has to get him back on schedule but her job depends on it. The more time Olivia spends with Declan she begins to see the real Declan and who he was before the accident. Declan with some help will see how much Olivia means to him and will fight for their budding relationship.

This story is loosely based on The Beauty and the Beast but a filthy version with an H that for most of the story I wanted to strangle him. I have read my fair share of asshole and let me tell you Mr. Declan Hart is up there with the best of them but damn it if I didn't end up loving him. The h Olivia Evans is very likeable and relatable and my god that woman had the patience of a saint and you know what it totally work in her favor.
If you are looking for something short, hot and good don't doubt to one-click this one.

Tortured Hero..
Declan, the male lead, is a writer with a troubled past, when the book starts, he is having a difficult
time writing his newest novel and his publishing company decides to send someone to get him to help him.
He is selfish and is unapologetic about it. One night his life takes a turn for the worse.
This is when, Olivia, the female lead, enters the story. She is nice but strong willed and Declan is a bit bossy, they make an interesting couple and an overall entertaining read.
Gary Furlong did well with the narration.

This author can sure write one amazing book. Filthy Beast is the tale of an author who thought he had it all. He had looks, money and talent. He was one of those manwhores if you will. Then someone big time happened that changed it all.
Olivia is an editing assistant who is so much more. She is sent out to make sure that Declan the author mentioned above finishes his latest book. Little does she know that he sees no one and he has hit a writer's block. They need each other more than they know and through this book we learn so many reasons why.
Vanessa Booke has such a way with words that draws me in and keeps me reading long past my bedtime.....

I truly am, just in awe of this book. I have always loved the classics but there is nothing like a good o’ twist to a common classic fairytale that has your blood pumping, and you hot and bothered……..talk about sexy??? WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is just something about reading a novel where one of the characters is a writer… the creativity that comes along with such a story is impeccable. He is also a very arrogant play boy who thinks he is God’s gift to women but yet he uses them and throws them out like yesterday’s garbage. Reality sets in real quick for him and karma comes back with a vengeance for him. Declan is involved in a horrible accident leaving him angry at the world. Leaving him to confining himself in the prison of his mansion avoiding everyone. He becomes a…………. BEAST!!! What he doesn’t realize is no matter how much he pushes everyone away and avoids them that he will receive a reality check and one very feisty opionated woman will lead it on. Declan doesn’t realize he is fixing to meet his match with Olivia.
Olivia is an up and coming editor. She is currently a junior editor working under a guy who thinks he doesn’t have to do anything and has Olivia doing all his work…including reviewing Declan’s work….but no one knows so she hides behind everyone because she “needs” this job more than anyone realizes.
Declan has put things off long enough so Olivia is sent to Hart Manor to get him back on track…but no one knows “why” Declan has avoided everyone but Olivia doesn’t let his arrogance nor his demands go and she gets the first look, first proof on just what happened to Declan Hart.
Declan and Olivia fight and fight what they feel. Declan does everything to push her away but Olivia sees past him and sees past his issues. She sees what kind of good man Declan Hart really is and these two soon discover they need each other in more ways than one.

The passion in your writing shows in so many ways and I loved every word of every sentence of every paragraph of every chapter in this book. You give us so much with these two. I was giving an ARC by the Author in exchange for a honest review. Author Vanessa Booke and her books are one of my favorites; if you haven't read her books I strongly recommend you to do so; her Alpha Male characters are to die for . So; here it is my review..... I want to get filthy with Declan Hart; oh yeah he is a beast in bed . He can make your filthiest fantasies come true; he is a writer his books have made him so famous and wealthy that women will do anything to spend a night of hot filfty sex with him. It doesn't hurt that he is sexy as sin, domineering cocky and well endowed . The only problem ? He is a selfish ass; after his wife left him for greener pastures he does not believe in love anymore; one night stand? Sure.. Bring it on . After one night stand gone wrong and a very stupid decision; Karma catches up with him. A couple of years later he is having trouble writing and when he missed his deadline with our favorite Publishing House StoneHaven; Olivia Evans is sent from New York to Declan's house in Vegas; to help him finish his book . Declan has become bitter and reclusive his body and soul broken; he is a beast ...Until she comes along; he refuses to see her face to face but when he takes a look at her thru the security cameras something within him stirs . Lust like nothing he has felt before; their first encounter leaves them both panting with lust . Vanessa Booke created a story that will suck you in from the first page; I read it in one sitting and I couldn't get enough of it . I can't wait for the next book.

I will tell you though, make sure when your reading the oh so sexy bits, you may not want to be in public. I was sitting on a bench and had a random man just sit next to me, and of course I'm at a REALLY good part and I swear he got a glimpse of what I was reading. He cleared his throat and kind of blushed, and of course I was blushing cause it was totally awkward!!! So needless to say, the steamy parts will leave you breathless and fifty shades of red!
I really never wanted this book to end! I devoured this book in a day cause I could keep my head out of it, and then wanted to cry when it was over. Like what am I going to do now???? It is so exciting to find a new author to read! Through a friend, I was recommended this book. I had never read any of this author's books but was willing to take a chance. OMG! Picked it up this morning and finished it right away. Could not put it down. I just love her writing style. Direct, romantic, with an amusing twist and wink of mischief.
Olivia and Declan's story has the echoes of that famous fairy tale The Beauty and The Beast. That it has echoes of a fairy tale shows the level of creativity of this author as she develops this story to be filled with reality and modern life.
This book also deals with the subject of self-esteem and being brave enough to face the challenges life dishes out. Courage is shown when you face what you fear the most regardless of your shaking knees. Facing a physical disability can be life-changing. The fear of being judged by others can be paralyzing. Yet, Declan is able to overcome his fears through Olivia's love and deep trust.
This is a beautiful love story I am sure you will enjoy as much as I did!

Absolutely loved this book, a sexy, hot read. Declan Hart had it all, fame, money, beautiful women and a successful career as a famous author. But he was'nt happy with that, he felt lonely and used. Events occur and Declan retreats and becomes a reclouse, not even wanting to write any more. Olivia works for the publishing company that Declan has signed to and is assigned to find out what is holding up Declans writing, thats not all thats driving Olivia, she needs to keep her job to help pay for her dads care. Olivia at first is shunned and not wanted at Declans house, she has not even met him as he refuses, but its not until a chance meeting that they bump into one another, that they find a connection and chemistry and Declan realises that Olivia sees more to him makes him start to enjoy life again. Not to forget the burning sexy chemistry. Can Olivia help save Declan.

The fairy tale comes true, with a twist. Vanessa Booke has brought Beauty and the Beast into the adult world with a bang (pun intended). And yes there is some hot banging going on in this wonderfully written story of a beast of a man, personality wise at least, Declan Hart who just happens to write wonderfully erotic romance novels and his Beauty, Olivia, who happens to be editing his books. The heat between them grows into an inferno that you will never want to extinguish. The writing of this tale is outstanding as is the twist on the beloved fairy tale. The characters are well developed and wonderfully detailed as they intertwine with one another, especially beauty and the beast. You don’t want to miss out on this book, or this series. I definitely recommend this book to everyone.

I am a complete sucker for modern retelling of fairytales. In particular, I love retelling g of Beauty and the Beast. Vanessa Brooke gives us a fabulously sexy and entertaining Beauty and the Beast story with a modern touch that I enjoyed tremendously. Declan is a wealthy, sexy handsome author that Olivia believes will be the man of her dreams. When she actually meets him, the reality is much different than the fantasy she had built up in her mind. Declan is a broken and scarred man who lets no one in, especially not Olivia. As the two spend time together walls are broken down and layers of pain begin to fade away. I so enjoyed Olivia and Declan's story. I cannot what to see what other Filthy Fairy Tales Vanessa Brooke will treat us to next!

OMG what a fantastic retelling of a classic tale. I fell in love with Declan Hart right along with Olivia. The scarred, beast of a man, who is so much more inside and Olivia, who can see past the physical scars and the mistakes of his past. It was steamy, sexy and filthy in a good way. A romance of 2 people, who don't know how much they need each other, to become the people they are meant to be. As with all of Vanessa Booke's books, the love scenes are totally hot and melt worthy. I couldn't put it down, devouring it till the end. If you like sexy fairy tales, this one is for you! I highly recommend it!

Declan Hart is a writer of erotic romance novels. He lives life in the fast lane without a care in the world. Tragedy strikes and turns his life upside down. He falls into his own darkness and loses his will to write. Olivia is sent to get him back on track and what happens next is quite a sexy fairytale. If you have read Vanessa's other books you will be pleasantly surprised by how she ties them into this beautifully written novella.

This is the best modern rendition of the fairy tale, Beauty & the Beast! Olivia is an assistant editor in New York that is assigned to fly out to Las Vegas to a reclusive writer that has missed several deadlines on his last novel. Locally, he is called "The Beast" behind his back. An entertaining, sweet read of a man coming back to life again and the lovely woman that guided him on the way. This story is rammed packed full of passion and hot steaming sex. The darkness of Declan & the loneliness of Olvia dramatically entwined their souls and they both start to grow, heal and gain strength. I loved the character of Adele, superbly written giving her a motherly no-nonsense but loving personality. I read from cover to cover - there wasn't any lull in the pace so you are guaranteed a great reading experience from each page.

OMGG!!!! FIVE stars for this take on the classic story of Beauty and the Beast! This book ticked all the boxes for me: tortured and scarred hero, sweet lovable heroine, and instant chemistry!!! This is a great read with plenty of FEELS!!! I can't wait to read more from Vanessa Booke!!
