It didn't take long for Portland, Oregon to fall. Amid a decaying and crumbling city, a group of survivors hides amid the smoke and the fire. They need to get out of the city... which is easier said than done with thousands of zombies blocking the path. Witness the terrifying flight of these survivors as they leave the city behind and Let It Burn.
I started this a while ago and even though I'm somewhat invested in characters now, put it down for a while. This series goes from one survivors': (Lou, Mort, Blake, Katie, Clara, Joan, Andy, Amanda, Chloe and Rudy) perspective to another. It's also introduced another group of survivors. A group of actually good soldiers. There is a lot of zombie fighting. The author isn't scared to kill off any of the main characters. The end of this one was on a cliffhanger. While it's not perfect (more on that when I finish the series) the characters will make you like them or hate them. 3.5 stars for some repetition.
Morris presents another adventure in this world of the living dead he has created. Its fun and fast. The characters are 3 dimensional. The situations are interesting and compelling. If you are a fan of zompoc you will probably enjoy this one. My only critiques are technical and not relevant to the story. One involves a modern Cadillac that requires a key to be started. Most expensive cars have used FOB style electronic starters for at least ten years. It made me wonder if Morris has driven a car recently. These are just random thoughts and shouldn't distract from the tale, which is a good one and worth reading.
Relentless and tension-filled. Since the book takes place in the beginning of the zombie apocalypse not the aftermath, there are no safe havens where the characters can catch their breath and build a community; It's an unstop walk of death followed by a monster that doesn't get tired. The characters can barely stay for a few hours or a day tops in any location before one zombie attracts an entire horde and then it survival mode and escape again. It's very tense and very desperate and I loved it.
Great zombie fun from a lesser known Indie author! The 2nd chapter of This Rotten World follows our rag tag band of survivors as they flee Portland for the suburbs. Unexpected things happen that don't always have to do with zombies. What happens at the zoo outside Portland? What happens with skyscrapers full of zombies? What are the burbs like? Our every day survivors are faced with some crazy choices! Don't get attached to anyone!
This book will have you hanging on to the edge of your seat. Fast paced roller coaster ride will have you gripped. Well written and the characters are great. A normal group of people thrown together. As the story starts to evolve you start to realise they are far from normal and the cracks and flaws of each of them start to surface. Definitely worth reading.
No Tufo but fun. Some of the characters become favorites while others are just annoying. Overall the storyline remains good, but I’m disappointed as some of the stronger characters die and weaker characters live. An occasional instance of this is one thing but it more the rule than the exception.
A ZOMBIE TALE FILLED WITH SADNESS AND NO ENDING IT IS...
Hello, this story could have been so much better if everyone you liked didn't die and all of the characters had severe mental problems. No sunshine in this one. Thanks.
This is a must read series. Just finished books 1&2 back to back, already bought book 3. Excellent characters and storytelling. So far, this seems as real as it gets.
Had to know what happened to the characters so I read another one... not as good as the first but nothing was resolved so it looks liked I'm going to be reading the next one too. Hey, made it to my reading goal for the year ahead of schedule!
This book was awesome! Very well written and characters you cared about. The world had lots of detail made me feel like I was there. I highly recommend this book!
Engaging story, great characters and awesome pacing that keeps you wanting to keep going until you're done. Awesome author! Highly recommend this series.
Oh man deaths are so sad! I keep expecting someone else is gonna die and my hearts gonna break! There were some interesting plot twists I didn’t see coming like, the zoo, the mansion and the epilogue! So far I love the story!
Book 2 was a lot better in the sense that it was more fast paced and intense compared to book 1. Book 2 went into more detail on the horrors that the characters had to deal with in order to survive the zombie apocalypse. I gave it a 3 star rating because like the first book, Let it Burn had many grammatical errors more so than in book one.

I honestly don't know what to say about this book, or this series. There are parts that I love and parts that I hate. I'm going to the next book but I hope it gets better. I gave this a 4 as an average. There were 5 star parts and 3 star parts.
Really getting into this series now and I really like the characters. It’s got all the usual zombie book tropes and more! Well narrated too. On to book 3
