Bad Boy Ballers #2

Quarterback's Secret Baby

Rate this book
They say you never forget your first love...
Kaden: I knew Tasha when I was just a kid who could throw a football better than anyone else and she was a haughty, proud girl who wouldn't give me the time of day. Before I was rich, before I was famous, before I could have any woman alive - except the one I wanted. She says it's impossible even when she's in my arms, but I never did learn how to take no for an answer...

Tasha: I always knew Kaden was going to leave Little Falls, so I never let him get close, never fully risked my heart for the bad boy quarterback with the golden arm. Then a family tragedy brought him back to town and I lost myself for a brief moment - a moment I told him myself was just the one night. Now I've got a secret. An adorable, dimpled secret with the same blue eyes as his Daddy.

A novel about small towns, first loves and second chances...

I wanted to like it. Truly I did, but I found myself skipping pages then chapters. Reading about Natasha was a chore and after about 35% of the book I was wondering why he liked her. She had great qualities, but her all men leave mantra really worked my nerves. I am aware people process things/life differently, but why is communication so difficult? She pushes him away then so completely heartbroken when she discovers he's "moved on". Why, chick you told him to go on.

Needs more work.

I am 50 percent through this book and I wondered why this book got such high ratings. I suspect those high ratings is for the male character only. The author has written a book that shows the incremental personal growth of the H and the continued dysfunctional of the h that seems to fill all types of stereotypes. The author is so busy showing this great H character and his steps to becoming a better human being and totally neglects the personal growth of the h and allows her to wallow in her own negativity, that even her sacrifice seems selfish and convenient. I want both characters to grow, growing differently; however, still growing. In addition, I dislike an imbalance of power, where the H is always begging to be loved and the h spends her time rejecting that love, while secretly thinking that she might be in love and doing absolutely nothing about it except to show how strong and resilient she can be....like really?. Being strong, capable and resilient does not mean that love needs to weakness and if that is the belief of the character, there has to be growth to a better place. In addition, even when horrible things happen in childhood, there has to be a path to a better place. Reading romance novels is escapism, pure and simple...so why do I need to spend my money to read about a female character that is so incredibly negative and continues to wallow in that negativity, when I can hear all about those lifestyle choices for free.

And not telling him about the pregnancy and subjecting her child to the same negative experience that she had, the same experience that is leading to her own dysfunction, and no one in her family has the gumption to hold her accountable. Then we have the the big forgive, without any real growth and we get the HEA. In addition, am I suppose to believe that a virile young male will go without sex for years without any real reason? Really? Not an organic or enjoyable path to the HEA.

I enjoyed the second book much more than the main book.

This is a sweet story about a talented High School Quarterback who goes off to College and hits the NFL big time. He is the hottest new talent in town and for all the life changing things that accompany the revered status he holds (money, women, marketing of an image), Kaden still loves the girl he left at home in small town America. Tasha is the girl he lost in a night of misunderstandings. Their paths cross again when tragedy strikes but again he goes back to his bright lights world and Tasha stays behind to carry on without the boy that owns her heart. Then they are thrown a major life curve ball....a baby could change everything- if he only knew.......
I liked this book . It flowed well and was easy to read. The hero, Kaden, redeemed himself. He was so loyal after the mistake he made. I understood why Tasha was hesitant to be with him but I wanted her to be a bit less stubborn. Gorgeous ending....It has quite a 'Cinderella' feel to it this book but it was sweet (and quite steamy toward the end) and a nice Summer read.

If you like second chance romance and sporty hotties then give it a whirl. It finished on my Kindle at 73% but was followed by another book

Two stars

Kayden first fell in love with Tasha at ten he pursue her all through high school even though he was the high school quarter who has to be very talented.
Senior Year they date and decide to go prom together and from their the whole story goes in the toilet.
Something happens and all of sudden Tasha doubts Kaydan even when he tells her the truth and she believes him she still pushes him alway. Kayden comes home for a family emergency she comforts him there still in love they together, and she again pushes him away...this is only the halfway point in the. So right now,I just don't care what happens next.

At some authors have realize that their gets board with these off again on romance...it actually kills the romance. towards the I was hoping trisha got hit with a car so it could end

This book surprised me. Oh, the overall plot is pretty much the same but the development was much better than I could imagine. I think we got a lot of feeling for characters and situations. I think her not telling was not very nice and I'm surprised that in a small town his parents didn't find out but how nice you felt for both characters because you knew more about their feelings. The point of view exchange every so many chapters helped.

I cringed with the horrible football timeline in the book. Football does not get played or practices in May near prom or graduation in high school. It is done end if October. College is similar with bowl games near Christmas and Jan. 1. If author continues with sports romance, maybe a sports editor???

I do want to say that the leaking to TMZ of the baby didn't get resolved but it isn't unusual and I thought that and agent were pretty real.

I was very pleased with overall growth of everyone and the family aspect off the charts. I don't care but I kind of thought our MC was Hispanic with some subtle hints.
Quite good for what I thought was going to be ho hum.

I honestly tried to finish this book, I slaved, I begged, I pleaded wondering why I couldn't read it. To be honest i hated this book like honestly really hated it. The female character was annoying, she thought everything she did was the right thing but it wasn't and she sucked. I liked the hero, I thought he had potential and to be honest I thought he could do so much better than the heroine. I mean this guy was good, he really liked her and he really fought for her. I mean if a guy really liked me like that, I wouldn't let him go. All in all it was a horrible read and if you want my advice run as far away as possible from it because all you'd get instead is anger and the urge to throw your device to the wall.

PS: if there's a half star on here that's what this book deserves.

Kaden and Tasha did seem destined to be together but Tasha sure did put up her wall's and make it difficult for them to have their HEA. You really saw how Kaden learned and grew up to be a great guy. Glad he got what he wanted.... Tasha. Tasha was very frustrating at times, you just wanted to smack her and make her realize you are being dumb open your eyes and heart!! Even though Tasha was frustrating I still couldn't stop reading. I needed to know what happened.

This was a cute high school transitioning into young adults love. I enjoyed this book because it teaches you that yes there are still good guys out there who will wait on you to come around. Also another lesson learned through this book is that communication is a key within any relationship. Bow we may love each other but if we do not communicate (tell) each other about our love then we'd just end up with wasted years and regret. All in all its a good book

Okay, all in all. The book was pretty good. But I was really frustrated with the book as a whole and I will tell you why. Natasha was always sacrificing for her family. I understood why she had to put her dreams of being a doctor on hold. But I felt Horrible for her that she never got her dream of being a doctor realized. But had to stay home and look after her family. Making sure that things with them were okay.

It really bothered me that her brother Ray and his girlfriend Alisha were begging Natasha not to go after to College. But stay home and take care of the family. I understand her mother was sick and she didn't want to leave her brother to carry that responsibility all by himself. But it still seemed so unfair to Natasha and want she really wanted to do. Even though she didn't mind giving all that up for Family.

Then you have Kaden, How as the family and the nice house who doesn't have to worry about a thing because things are basically handed to him on a very silver platter without a thought in the whole.

It really got to me how horrible Kaden treated Natasha on Prom Night. How you going to go off with your Football Mates and forget all about your girl? Not wonder how she got home or none of that?

Kaden explained himself to Natasha about the girl and everything. I just don't think Natasha brought Kaden's explanation at first at all.

But years later, everything changed for Kaden or I would like to say changed. I thought that was so great. How Kaden wasn't a Jerk anymore. Then again when you are in love with a girl since you both were in Grade School. I guess you do indeed change.

Natasha on the other hand didn't change. She gave Kaden such a hard time about their relationship or lack of a relationship. It was this push and pull between them. Kaden would push a relationship between He and Natasha and Natasha would pull away from it.

I think a lot if it had to do with how Natasha's father treated the family like he did. With him not being there. Her mother had to raised the kids by herself. Natasha didn't want to be like her father and leave the family he did. So yeah, she forgot her dreams of ever being a doctor.

That's why Natasha treated Kaden so badly in the beginning and when they both got a little older. No matter how Kaden told her time and time again that loved her. Natasha couldn't trust that. Because she was always thinking that Kaden was going to leave and never come back to her.

So at every turn Natasha would find ways to push Kaden out of life. Think and say it was no big deal. But it was she was hurt very badly. Natasha was sometimes causing herself some unnecessary pain in the end. Self inflected pain actually.

But all worked out in the end so there you go!

Quarterback's Secret Baby / Bad Boy Ballers
by Imani King
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

YAY! What a Fantastic Read!!! What a great romance story by Imani King! This book has a rich storyline that keeps you enthralled from the first page until the last page. There are twists and turns in this story that makes this a really awesome read. * This journey to love is wonderful ,sexy , funny and sweet. I will just say that this book is a brilliant journey of how, when feelings grow and how things change from a simple miss understanding, with a few twists that keep you reading, and certain scenes that will leave you compleately breathless, a book that changes pace and keeps you interested. This book provides a in depth look at the details of love that can be read by romance fans. Her book is interesting and difficult to stop reading. This is a 5 star read from Imani King, her writing style is romantic, entertaining, mature, she is a great storyteller, It's so unique and creative with a stream of consciousness that feels so realistic. Her writing is in first-person which is interesting, intelligent and witty. How do you exceed the best when you are one of the best. Imani King allows you to pour your heart and soul into her storytelling, she creates male heroes that's so enticing you will want them to become your book boyfriend. She makes her heroines so strong that it will make woman identify with being her. I completely fell in love with Kaden and Tasha! Tasha is the type of female protagonist that I love to read about. She's mature and intelligent with a no-nonsense attitude, but beneath the surface lays a broken, vulnerable and lonely girl. She grew up feeling utterly alone because of her dad yet she prevailed and took complete control of her future. She and Kaden is made for each other! Together they are able to fall in love and share a joy and contentment that neither has been able to experience before. Unfortunately, their life circumstances throws a wrench into their relationship and growing love. The miss understanding tears them apart and each of their life is thrown into a downward spiral. It's hard to get a feel for how things were going to end and if they was going to get their HEA, that's in itself is unique in comparison to some romance novels. I'm excited to read what the next book that she has planned, but I know for sure that's it's going to be exciting and entertaining!

Kaden:
Finally. Finally I'd managed to get Tasha Greeley to agree to spend some time with me. Or at least some time watching me play, which I was pretty happy about because I'm good at football and Tasha seemed maddeningly difficult to impress. Which just made me all the more determined to impress her. I didn't see her at school once before the game that Friday. I didn't even hear that adorable, cascading giggle of hers, which I had become embarrassingly adept at picking out of a crowd. We always dressed up a little before a game but that Friday afternoon I took a little extra care, making sure I wore the pale blue shirt that emphasized the breadth of my shoulders. I borrowed one of my dad's belts, too, and he couldn't resist asking me if it was because I was trying to impress a girl. "No," I lied, trying to look casual. "You sure, Kaden?" My dad teased. "You're wearing cologne, too. I can smell it. Who's the special lady?" My mom picked that moment to walk into my room. She immediately joined in with my dad. "Special lady? Who is it? Is it that little blonde girl --what was her name? Ashley?"
It was definitely not Ashley. It was always funny when my parents teased me about girls, though. They knew I wasn't a choirboy but there was definitely some weird form of pride going on there. The most that ever happened was my dad slipping me a condom before I went out and giving me a wink and a slap on the back. "Naw, it's not her," I told them, not really eager to talk about Tasha in that joking way we always talked about girls I might be seeing.
Tasha:
I knew Kaden Barlow was a big deal. I didn't need to be a football fan to know that. He was the king of the school, respected and adored by everyone, students and teachers alike. But I don't think I realized just how big of a deal he was until I watched him play that night, under the floodlights and cheered on by a stadium full of borderline-rabid fans chanting his name whenever he so much as touched the ball, let alone threw it. Getting caught up in it was easy. "Are you here with Kaden?" A middle-aged woman sitting behind me asked during a break in play. "It's OK," I said. "I don't mind. It was just a little loud." Kaden shrugged and drew my attention, once again, to those magnificent shoulders. "It's not even mine. I drove here with a friend --it's his music." I turned to look at him. "You don't have to be embarrassed about liking country music, you know," I told him. "It's not like you're the only one around here." "I'm not," he replied, too quickly and keeping eyes ahead, on the road. "It's just not mine. We can listen to something else." "Kaden, I seriously don't even mind. You think I don't listen to country music? I grew up in Little Falls too, you know." "Really?" He asked, sounding surprised. "You listen to country music?" I laughed. "Well, no. But it's not like I don't hear it all the time." "What do you listen to?" "Oh, lots of things. My mom likes old school R&B, she used to listen to a lot of that when I was growing up so I guess I kind of absorbed her tastes a little. But I like all kinds of music." Kaden was driving us up into the hills outside of town. The thought that he might make an attempt to add me to the conquest list crossed my mind again. At a red light, a couple of little kids in the car next to us noticed him and rolled down their window to wave and cheer. Kaden waved back. "You've got fans," I said. "Like, actual fans. Is that weird?" "Nah," Kaden replied. "It's not about me, they just love football." But it was about him. It was his name that had been on everyone's lips during the game and his name those two kids had been yelling. I couldn't tell if it was false modesty on his part or if he really believed it was just about football, and not about him. We pulled over at the top of one of the hills and got out of the SUV. I turned my head up and looked at the stars. "Nice, huh?" Kaden asked. "There's less light pollution out here. Sometimes I come here when I need to be alone and just stare at the stars for an hour or so until I calm down." "Really?" I asked, genuinely curious. If anyone seemed to have a stress-free life, it was him. "Does that happen a lot?

This is a Fantastic Read. If you are looking for a Spectacular book to read then you need to read this book. You can't miss this awesome book! This is also a magnificent book to add to your TBR list. I'm felt so good about this book that I'm excited and anxious to read the next book Ms. King writes. I highly recommend this book.

If you believe in the world of romance, the possibilities are endless and fascinating!

The heroine Tasha was really annoying. First, she seemed like a bitch. Then later she always claimed to be busy and I'm like girl you're always busy and you're not even working in a job that needs a college degree like wtf. If you're busy, then everyone's busy.
I don't understand why she always felt that they couldn't be together and that she had to push him away. It was pretty obvious to me that he loved her... I wasn't even sure she would say yes to his marriage proposal (which was a little shocking and soon I thought), showing how unpredictable she was.

Absolutely Loved This book

This was such a good, sweet story! Kaden was absolutely adorable and he never gave up on Natasha. Natasha was so head strong it took her a while before she realized she gave up a good man! I'm glad she was so dedicated to her family but sometimes you have to think about yourself. I love that even though Kaden and Natasha were an interracial couple you didn't really know it. Love was love regardless of color, I like that!

Great Story

I really enjoyed this although Tasha got on my ever loving nerves. I really couldn't stand her character like I got that she was hurt by her dad and was messed up but to me she was kind of selfish when it came to Kaden. I liked Kaden, he had his dumb moments but I was honest throughout the book. But all in all I felt like Tasha redeemed herself towards the end and was glad they got together and STAYED together. Lol great read

🥰🥰🥰

Another powerful beautiful inter-racial love story. This couple was dynamic and the way they came about being as high school sweethearts or young lovers.
It was nice to see that a young man with so much temptation placed in front of him could actually control himself and focus on the one he truly loved.
Definitely a worthy read.

I chose to read and review this book. I enjoyed reading this one. The book is well written. It has a lot of pain, obstacles, love, heat and so much more that kept me reading till the end. I felt that both couples were great but needed some more character details or events that would shape them better still it is a great read and the end is sweet.

Quarterback’s Secret Baby

Loved that they met at the age of 10! Tasha & Kaden made an absolutely amazing couple; Tasha was insecure and young but she got there! Lawyers & Agents … 😶 Kaden was the man because he was like nobody was going to touch Tasha! Hopefully baby Henry gets some brothers and sisters 🥰🥰❤️

I really like this book and both characters. I just hated Tasha's reason for keeping the baby a screw. I could understand if she thought Kaden was a man/father but to me she did it out of jealousy bc she thought he moved on

MORE THAN 5 STARS FOR SURE.

This is most definitely one of my favourite books ever. Tasha and Kaden's story is ultimately heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.

Kaden knew Tasha would be his forever the moment he saw her covered in spaghetti. However, Tasha didn't share his testament. They had a short relationship while in high school, and it ended pretty badly. That's where things really went bad and things weren't the same anymore. So much time was wasted with Kaden and Tasha and that's what's most disappointing for me.

When Tasha became pregnant with Kaden's baby, she couldn't bring herself to tell him for a variety of reasons. And TBH, I loved Henry. He seemed so cute in the story, I wanted to see him grow up, haha.

This was one was kind of emotional for me, especially towards the end. Which, of course, makes the ending my favourite part of the story, hahaha.

I really loved Tasha in this one. Sure, she was frustrating most of the time, but she did what she thouht was best not only for her and Kaden, but also for her family. This book made me realize how much family factors into things such as these. Tasha, seriously, is an inspiration to me. She's hardworking, selfless, family-oriented, and when she loves, she loves with her whole heart.

While I loved Tasha, I also adored Kaden. He made me realize that guys can be vulnerable too, that they can feel as much or maybe more than women do, at times. He was a perfect boyfriend to Tasha when they were high school, TBH. It's just that when the going gets tough, he's too desperate to fix it, which makes it harder for him to focus and organize his priorities. But aside from that, he was just amazing.

I didn't expect that the book would explore more on the years they spent together their whole lives, than when they had the baby itself. But I'm glad I got to read their whole story, it was absolutely heautiful.

I shouldn't have started this in the first place. I knew that since I read the synopsis, as I totally hate when women withhold the pregnancy from the baby's daddy; such a cruel thing to do, that can potentially affect both dad and baby ... but for my better judgment I decided to give it a try. Boy was a wrong...I fucking hated the female character. Such a coward, stupid bitch. Really!! I so totally hate when stupid, insecure, no integrity female characters are passed as smart, strong, fiery women. Let me just tell you this girl was none of that, she acts as a total bitch because she is afraid, she is so afraid of life. Because she happened to live without a father, decided all males are bad and her way of solving everything is by acting bitchy with the guy and then cry that he is trying to move on. I beg your pardon???? Not the mention she was not going to tell him about the baby, despite her relatives insisting she was not going to tell him if it wasn't for the media. Not only that but all the talk about her telling the baby's daddy was about financially means or him being responsible too; not once it is mention that he has a right to know too and that he might actually really want the baby, as that baby is his flesh too. I am so focking tired of this stereotypes!!!
