I don't know how many of you are familiar with the Our Daily Bread organization, so a little background. It is a Christian organization originally founded in 1938 by M.R. DeHaan as Radio Bible Class (RBC) Ministries. In 2015 its name was changed to the current one, and it is now presided over by Mart DeHaan, grandson of the founder. It is probably best known for the small devotional booklets that it mails out on a monthly basis, free of charge, to people all over the world. Each booklet contains Bible devotions written by various people affiliated with the organization, and guides the reader through the devotions and prayers on a daily basis. The booklets are now in 37 languages, and the organization's businesses include a publishing house, daily radio broadcasts, and a weekly television program.
This book is a compilation of some of the best of the devotions that have been in the booklets over the decades. They range in topics from hope in difficult times to how to treat your neighbor to the inevitable salvation message. Written by people who really believe in what they are saying, this is a small book with a lot of power. It is helpful to have a Bible by your elbow when reading it, just so you can look up the scriptures that the writers are quoting, but it is well worth the time. There are 90 devotions, but each only takes about five minutes to read, so not a struggle. Compact and thought provoking, if you have never had the opportunity to read any of the Our Daily Bread material, or if you are simply curious to know what the Christian message is about, this is an excellent introduction.
