I came across this book at the public library in Redmond, WA in 1982. As a 16-year-old, I remember loving it... one of the things I remember were the references to bands I was actually listening to at the time, like Black Sabbath. It really helped the book come alive for me.
I'm looking for a copy to read it again... reliving my childhood, so to speak, as an old man.
This has got to be the best rock novel I have ever read. I cannot understand the ghastly review of that other person. This novel actually gets the spirit and mood and feel of being in a rock band spot on. And the way the story is told in alternating narrative and flashback is superb. I would guarantee this to anyone who loves a brilliant, fast-paced, no nonsense read. And after this, try the sequel, Back Street Runner. Superb. Five Stars for me for both.
A ghastly load of rubbish with no redeeming features. I include this book in my list as a warning to others. I'll never get those hours I wasted on this back. Please don't fall into the same trap.
