Melissa Tagg has done it again – Keep Holding On adds to the charm to the town of Maple Valley and poignancy to the dynamics of the Walker family. Beckett Walker has always been a very peripheral character in the previous Walker family books, so I was so eager to read his story. Beckett is finally returning to Maple Valley after several years of absence to attend his cousin’s wedding; true to form, he makes quite an entrance, though not by choice. From the moment of his arrival back home to the final pages, I easily drawn into this story. Melissa has such a way with family dynamics and dialogue, including both poignant and humorous moments in her narrative with a natural finesse.
I mention the awesomeness that is Maple Valley in each of the Walker family books, but it absolutely cannot be overlooked. Melissa adds to the appeal of this fictional town with each new book. In this case, it’s a family apple orchard that belongs to Kit Danby, horticulturalist and Beckett’s childhood best friend. Eager to prove to her emotional distant father that she is capable of taking care of the orchard, Kit is determined to bring it back to her former glory. Kit needs all the help that she can get, and Beckett needs to perform community service – what starts out as a simple arrangement soon turns into a renewal of their friendship and more. With one person determined to put down real roots and another determined to chase after a dream, these best friends fall back into their old ways, while still unsure of the new territory that has formed between them.
These characters, this town, have carved out a space in my heart – they are so honest and real and relatable. It’s always so fun to catch up with other characters, as well as learn more about the characters whose stories are to come. I’m not sure how she manages to do it, but the catch-up and “previews” always seem to flow organically in the narrative of the current story, enriching it rather than detracting from it. There is always such a history and background for these characters, as if they truly live beyond the pages of the book. And almost as important for any contemporary romance reader – this story certainly has its share of some beautiful, swoon-worthy moments that had my heart cheering for a happy ending.
The spiritual aspect of Keep Holding On is such an applicable, uplifting one – that even when we let go, God has been holding onto us the whole time. I also found encouragement in the idea that God gives us the characteristics, passions and even flaws that prepare us for exactly what He has planned for us. What Beckett sees as a hindrance, God had in mind for something beyond what he ever dreamed. I applaud Melissa for keeping the spiritual thread light but authentic, ingrained into the story in a way that feels so totally natural, but never in the reader’s face. I was so encouraged while reading that I often stopped to find a goofy smile on my face.
I highly recommend Keep Holding On, as well as the rest of the Walker family books, to readers of contemporary romance. Do yourself a favor and start at the beginning of the series, either with the prequel novella or book one – I think it really enriches the reading experience to have read Kate and Logan’s stories previously, although not necessary to enjoy Beckett’s story. Melissa’s engaging storylines, endearing characters and superb settings will keep me coming back to the Walker family and any stories to come.

I simply adore the Walker Family. Such a lovely family full of interesting characters.
In this novel, I found a non-Walker, Megan, the barista with an attitude to be my favorite character. The story line that had my interest most was young Webster and his search for a foster friend. Would love to know more about that.

Keep Holding On was a book that I just didn’t want to set down! It was wonderful to return to Maple Valley, Iowa and all of the Walker family fun. I believe that if a reader has not read the other books in this series, they could follow along just fine. However, I highly recommend reading each story as the characters and relationships that are developed are revisited in subsequent novels as the family interacts and lives life.
I loved this book! Kit and Beckett have such a deep history together as childhood friends who grew up together and relied on each other in so many ways. The events that tore their friendship apart made their mark on both of them and influenced some of the actions that they each took in the years preceding this story.
Watching Beckett and Kit wrestle with who they are, who God is, what God desires for their lives, and if they are even supposed to be together was deeply moving. I loved the setting, the situations, the characters…and as I closed the book I found myself already wishing that the next story in the series was available right now to read! I highly recommend this entire series to fans of contemporary romance. Be prepared to fall in love with this dynamic family!

Watching Beckett and Kit wrestle with who they are, who God is, what God desires for their lives, and if they are even supposed to be together was deeply moving. When I read Melissa Tagg's first book, I knew without a doubt that this was an author I wanted to follow. I've written every word she's written and love it!!!
This is the 3rd book in Melissa's 'Walker Family' series. Boy, do I wish I could visit Maple Valley! She has made her characters so real and even the locale, the town, the residents, that I so seriously want to visit. Goodness, I want to LIVE there!
This is Beckett Walker's story. Beckett who hasn't been home in six years and has basically shut his family out of his life that long. Beckett has some things to deal with, past burdens and mistakes and he just stays away. Not to mention that he'll probably be arrested the moment he arrives.
Kit Danby, Beckett's childhood friend, now back in Maple Valley after years living abroad, needs help in resurrecting the apple orchard that's been in her family for years. Beckett needs to put in 200 hours of community service. Seems like the perfect solution for both, right?
Kit and Beckett were best friends since Beckett was 11 years old. Now they've both grown up and being best friends doesn't seem like it used to be. Both are feeling more than that, but each has their life plans already made and they don't exactly coincide.
Melissa Tagg has the knack of creating such awesome characters and goodness, whole towns! I've been waiting on Beckett's story for a while now and I was not one bit disappointed. Both Kit and Beckett come alive in these pages as the reader travels with them down the lanes their lives take and as they become aware that being friends is not really what they want. But there are problems: one's impulsive, the other plans everything to death.
It was so much fun to catch up on characters from the previous books. I love this family. I feel like they're real. Seriously. They are written that well.
The spiritual message here is profound as well. Do we go ahead and make our plans or do we allow God to direct us? Do we know He's directing us when we think He is? Are we too afraid to move in faith and trust God? God keeps holding on to us even when we're not sure what path to take.
This book ministered to me with just two simple sentences: "We're not going to panic about this. We're going to trust God." I've been going through a rough time and that was like God whispering into my heart the morning I read those two sentences. I have no doubt it was my message to encourage me. Loved every single minute of this one! I do believe it's my favorite of Melissa's to date!!

YES. YES. Oh, yes. This is Melissa Tagg's best book so far, and I really, really enjoyed it.
I so liked that Beckett and Kit were best friends since childhood. It made it...special. And sweet. And adorable. The scenes between them were so fun!
Beckett...oh, Beck. <3 He's amazin', okay? I mean, I practically felt myself melting inside at one point - AND THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN TO ME. He was so, so supportive of Kit, and his struggles made me hurt for him, with him. I nearly sobbed and then another time teared up... Both times involving Beckett.
And I liked Kit. She was real, and sweet, and relatable... I liked her POV (not as much as Beckett's, but that can't really be helped).
The apple orchard was a great setting. It felt unique. SO unique. I mean - a book set in an apple orchard? In the lovable, quirky, fun town of Maple Valley? There isn't a book like this. AND, for real, why doesn't Maple Valley and all these fabulous characters exist? *frowns*
I love the cover. It fits the story so perfectly... My sister's comment on the cover: "He looks like a little kid who just got handed an ice cream cone." And I totally agree - but that's so Beckett. And the model for Kit IS Kit. I love the combination of colors, the font... Should I stop gushing?
I so enjoyed being back with the characters from the other books. And can I just say - Kate & Colton, Seth & Ava, and Logan & Amelia are ALL back and <3 Mr. Case Walker is such a wonderful character. It was really neat to see his "human side" in this...cuz before he's always just been the amazing, wise, strong, tough, loving dad - but it showed his struggle here. AND MAN, AT ONE POINT I WAS WORRIED. Miss Tagg really did have me worried. XD Also, Megan. I never really liked her much before...I mean, she was okay, but in Keep Holding On? It left me wanting her story. It did. (And thankfully her story IS COMING.)
The side characters were good. Even Sam. *nods* And I liked Luke's story - it so fantastically... *wide eyes* I'll stop. I will... Maybe we'll see more of him in another Walker book? Liiiiiiike Megan's story? *hint hint* (So that's just a crazy suspicion I have, but I doubt it actually is where Melissa is going. XD)
There are always pieces of wisdom in Miss Tagg's books. She always interweaves God and His goodness, but in Keep Holding On it was really good. And what happened in the end... It was so heart-breaking - in the best way. SO beautiful.
What more can I say? I laughed, I smiled, I cried. It was a lovely, well-written novel that I'm now a fan of. It was so good! My favorite Tagg book by far. <3 Highly recommended!! But you HAVE to read the previous Walker novels before reading this. Otherwise, certain things won't be special...

XD And, just as a warning, there is some kissing, and there is a scene where a character is in a towel... *blinks* Well, um, that sounded weird, but it was not bad, okay?! XD And I would let you know if I thought it was... But I had to throw that in as a caution. XP
Previous words: Just finished it. And it is 2:14am. Yeaaaaah.... That either means I persevere or it was really good. (It's option C - both.)

As always with Melissa Tagg's books, I adored this story. She crafts a story that will make you laugh and cry, from her signature 'meet-cute' to the heart-warming moments. While this was a little different from her usual, since the characters have known each other since they were kids, the author still managed to throw in that slightly awkward, yet amusing, reunion scene. I absolutely love their hometown of Maple Valley and enjoyed catching up with the rest of the Walker Family. This will probably always be the one series I most often recommend.
Plot: Lawyer Beckett Walker returns to his hometown for his cousin's wedding, knowing he'll likely be arrested for a youthful mistake. His desire to become a JAG lawyer leads him to get things straightened out and Beckett's sure he can negotiate his way out of trouble. Meanwhile, his childhood friend, Kit Danby has returned to her hometown, trying to save her family's apple orchard. When Beckett is sentenced to community service, he's stuck in town for longer than planned, giving Kit and Beckett time to renew their friendship.
Characters: I adored Beckett! We didn’t get to see as much of him in the previous stories, so I loved finally getting to know him better. His friendship with Kit was charming. Kit's relationship with her family is rather heart-breaking, but I admire her fighting spirit. I love seeing the Walker family return in each book. It's always fun to catch up with some old friends.
Recommendation: I would strongly recommend reading this book, and the entire series. It's a great read for anyone who enjoys contemporary romance with an inspirational message. I can hardly wait to find out what happens with Raegan and Bear in the next book!

This is my favorite book in the series for sure! Beckett was such a lovable hero. I was cheering for him the whole way through. I'm sure I felt the same about Logan but Beckett is my new favorite. The family dynamics work so well and Maple Valley is just a strange but cool little town. Kit is passionate about her orchard. It was fun reading about the workings of an apple orchard. I would love to live close enough to visit one. I'm so glad Beck's story ended up like it did. And I'm looking forward to Reagan's story!

Beautiful story of friendship and love
This book -- oh my goodness -- there is such richness in this book. I loved reading Kit and Beckett's story. There's plenty of angst and challenge, but also sigh-worthy romance and tear-I diving family scenes. I adored it!

Like a hot cup of coffee and a walk down a familiar, tree-lined lane, the Walker family holds a warm place in my heart, as does Melissa Tagg's vibrant storytelling and evocative writing in Keep Holding On.
It is with a deep, satisfied sigh that I write my review of Keep Holding On. Not only has the Walker family burrowed deep into my heart, but Kit and Beck's story leaves me truly content, happy, and with "all the feels".
This book starts off with one of my favorite first (few) lines. "He'd tell his family tonight. After the wedding. Before he turned himself in to the police." I mean...how fantastic is that? Beck...oh Beck...I love his character! Melissa created such a fantastic combination of swirling emotions and complexities surrounding him and his story. From the fact that he hasn't been back to Maple Valley for years to his long-time friendship with Kit. Which leads me to the lady herself. As I've found in many of Melissa's characters, I identify with this woman. Oh man...so many times her thoughts were my thoughts, and I found myself thinking, "I would be friends with her...if she wasn't fictional."
I won't say much more because you must experience this book for yourself. Within the pages of Keep Holding On is a journey that will delight, thrill, and entertain. But it will do more than that. It will give you hope for the simpler things in life. It will remind you that trusting God, and all that is involved in that, is a real thing not for the faint of heart, but not without its own rewards. It will bring you joy. It will make you laugh. It might even make you cry. But above all, it will encourage and challenge you in the best way.
I highly recommend this to any reader, especially those who love sweet romance, enjoy small towns (or think they might), and who want to be deeply touched and entertained by fantastic writing from a novelist who brings her characters to life off of the page. You too, can be a part of the Walker family.

It is with a deep, satisfied sigh that I write my review of Keep Holding On. Not only has the Walker family burrowed deep into my heart, but Kit and Beck's story leaves me truly content, happy, and with "all the feels".
This book starts off with one of my favorite first (few) lines. "He'd tell his family tonight. After the wedding. Before he turned himself in to the police." I mean...how fantastic is that? *My Thoughts*
I think I would probably hit someone over the head if they read this book, and then tried to tell me it wasn't the cutest story ever. I ADORE Beck & Kit! Melissa hit so many check marks on my list, I can't even tell you. Here are a few:
-Best friend romances are adorable to me. (I'm a teenage girl!)
-Kit is a horticulturist. (I want to be a horticulturist)
- I love nicknames. (C'mon, 'Beck' is just shy of perfect.)
- The main setting takes place in an apple orchard. (It's perfect!)
So, there are a few reasons why this book hits my top 5 of 2016.
Although I guess we could also add the unexpected spiritual depths that made this so much more than "fluff".
We could absolutely add that Melissa's fun, quirky humor infused the novel with smiles and chuckles.
We could add that my mother put down everything she had to do, so she could sit down and read for a few minutes. (That never happens!)
Yep, Melissa, another winner. The next one is out, like, yesterday, right?!

Once again Melissa Tagg has delivered with an achingly beautiful story of family (crazy, big, loud, loveable family), friendship (childhood best friends falling in love - my favourite kind of friendship), and life, love, laughter and tears. I wanted to both savour this book and devour it.
It's lovely to return once again to Maple Valley and the Walker family. I loved catching up with Logan, Amelia and Charlie, Kate and Colton, Seth and Ava, Raegan, Megan, Case and all the familiar faces of Maple Valley. But it is Beckett Walker who is the star of this story. Beckett has been absent from Maple Valley for six years. He left one night six years ago when the hurt of his life had tangled around him and he just needed to get out. Since then he attended college and has been working as a lawyer in Boston, but a chance to become a JAG officer has him finally returning to Maple Valley, where he knows he must face his past (including the criminal arrest warrant waiting for him), his family and his childhood best-friend, Kit Danby.
There is so much going on in this book. I kind of felt sorry for the characters a little. You know that feeling when everything is going wrong and it feels like the world is toppling in on you? Well, these characters certainly do. Kit Danby has spent the last few years living and working in England, but she jumped on a plane the minute she heard her brother and father might be selling her grandparents' orchard. Like Beckett, returning home means facing her past, the hurt from her father's abandonment and Beckett himself. Kit and Beckett quickly rekindle their friendship. Even as adults (with some serious chemistry, mind you) I could picture Beckett and Kit as kids, best friends, playmates, getting into trouble, climbing trees and roofs, mischievous smiles beaming. Their blooming (and sometimes halting, spluttering) relationship is founded in their friendship. They know each other so well and yet have so much to work through.
I love the cover of Keep Holding On because it so accurately conveys the beauty and joy of this novel. Beckett and Kit are both wrestling with what they want from their future. They both know they need God's guidance but aren't sure if they are hearing right or if they are on the wrong path, headed in the wrong direction - especially when everything seems to go from bad to worse. Their story of them confronting their fears and finding their futures is truly enjoyable.
This book made me fall in love with the Walker clan all over again and I can't wait to continue this series, hopefully with Raegan's story.

In this newest novel in the Walker Family series, Ms. Tagg features the youngest Walker son, Beckett, and his journey home to Maple Valley, Iowa. When Beckett receives word that his life-long dream of becoming a JAG officer might finally come true, he leaves his job as a lawyer in Boston to finally resolve a long-ago incident in his hometown. Beckett’s plan goes awry when he is arrested within minutes of his arrival. His previous crime can be resolved with community service hours, but that means that he must stay in Maple Valley much longer than he intended. Fortunately, Beckett’s childhood best friend, Kit Danby, desperately needs free manpower to save her family’s orchard. After working as a horticulturalist at one of Britain’s universities, Kit arrived home to a deserted family farm and a crop of apples that may already be doomed to fail. With a lifelong love of her ancestral home, Kit is determined to save the farm and finally make a profit, in spite of her family’s lack of confidence in the farm or Kit’s abilities. However, they vastly underestimate the combined inspiration of these two best friends as they fight to save the orchard and discover their life purposes along the way.

Ms. Tagg continues to reach multiple generations of readers with this series, including Keep Holding On, as it tells the story of the entire Walker family and their quirky neighbors and friends. Even as an independent novel released by a different publisher than the previous books of the Walker Family series, this novel remains true to the quality and caliber of Ms. Tagg’s other stories. If anything, Keep Holding On proves once again that Ms. Tagg manages to surpass expectations and continues to grow as an exceptionally talented author of Christian fiction.

Charming and romantic, this story returned me to the lovely yet fictional town of Maple Valley, Iowa. I had hoped for great things in Beckett’s story as he was the enigmatic, mysterious, and hardly present Walker brother in the previous books, but this time it was his time to shine. His story turned out to be a lot different than I had expected, but it was still wonderful. I think he met his match with Kit. She was fabulous in a down-to-earth way, and I loved her goals that enveloped memories, an apple orchard, and family.
There were a few breathlessly romantic moments involving a tree, an ocean, and a whisper. Y’all, I’m serious that my breath was whooshed away in these scenes. Very happy sighs, for sure.
I wasn’t really sure why Nigel was even in the book. He didn’t serve much of a purpose and wasn’t very likeable at all. Why would Kit have even been friends with someone so rude and selfish and unconcerned with her dreams but hyper-focused on his own? Plus, he was only there for a couple of chapters and then was never heard from and hardly mentioned ever again (thank goodness).
One thing that made me uncomfortable was the lengthy guy-in-a-towel scene. Not sure why he didn’t just excuse himself to put on some clothes. That would have calmed down that scene for me, as would Kit acting like she was older than twelve. (She was only that immature in that one scene that I noticed, thankfully.)
Overall, I adored this story! It’s a wonderful addition to the Maple Valley family of books. I loved Megan’s snarkiness, Kit’s sentimentality, and Beckett’s search for healing and reunion. The small-town atmosphere was charming and quirky, and it made me feel a sense of home. I can hardly wait to visit this town again in the next book in the series!

Melissa Tagg has a way of capturing you from the first few words on the page with her dashing heroes, sweet heroines and a plot you just know has a whole lot more to it. Beckett just grabbed my interest from the first moment in this story and he won over my heart with his wild, passionate and jump-in-the-moment personality. The reserved Kit was sweet and I just felt her struggles through every thought and conversations with her friends and families.
“Kit, when God calls us to something, it doesn’t mean we’re never going to have setbacks. And if we go doubting his direction every time we face a challenge, we’ll end up stagnant and frustrated, tied up in knots.”
Both Beckett and Kit had past hurts and struggles, but Beckett's struggles and that one moment with his dad just pulled at my heartstrings.
I really loved Beckett and Kit together. They just complemented each other so well. And a letter from someone important in Beckett's life described him so well, it just made me love him more.
A God who never promised perfect circumstances, but who did promise his love.
There was also so many supporting characters to love and I hope would feature in future books. Lucas with this very very intriguing and sad history top of my list. Megan the barista was also a favourite.
It’s been a tough season, sure, but Grandpa always used to say the good thing about tough seasons is it means better ones are just around the corner. Good from bad.
I'm excited to read Bear and Reagan's story next. I loved their relationship in the first part of the series and looking forward to their HEA.

If I could, I would give this book 10 out of 5 stars. It might just be my new favourite. It's been 3 years since I created a new favourite. It just doesn't happen with every book I read! Awarding 5 stars also doesn't do it the credit that is due to Melissa Tagg on writing this exceptional book.
Keep Holding On, is book 3 in her Walker Family Series. We have gotten to know Seth (in the prequel novella), Kate, Logan & now younger brother, Beckett. Sometimes as you work through a series, you may feel like there is nothing new to learn, or like you're going through the 'same old same old'. Let me tell you. Melissa has mastered the art of writing 'personality'. It oozes through the pages, so that not only do you have a really easy time of picturing the characters but you really come to know them. Feel with them. Agonize with them. Feel their joy. Love them. She even was able to develop those we have already met in prior books and in doing so, add a depth to the entire world of the Walker Family, whom we have grown to know & love so much. This is far from a one dimensional story. We are taken on a rollercoaster ride of emotion with Case Walker - the patriarch of the family, as his health comes into question. I absolutely loved that Beckett & Kit have been best friends from childhood. This is a new element to the series, having our heroes already be friends and know everything there is know about each other. For Beck & Kit they are learning to reconnect after six years apart, & discover the depth of the love they have always felt for each other. As friends, yes, but finally come to honestly examine what happened six years prior on Kits wedding day, and what it means to them both. I loved the direction they both took, Kit in following the prompting to restore the Orchard to its full glory, it being in the family for several generations. To come home to Maple Valley, Iowa, to her roots and establish a life for herself there. For Beckett, who has successfully made a career for himself in law, now pursuing a path into the US Army JAG Corps - something he felt his Mom would have wanted for him too. Beckett however has something he must clear up first, and it sends him home to Maple Valley. He thinks its just a matter of tidying up some loose ends, simple misunderstanding, facing up to a past mistake. In & out again on a weekend. Little does he know, he is about to come face to face with Kit, who he thinks is still in London. Their two worlds collide, and everything is about to change.
Writing a review about a book you love so much, is the hardest thing in the world. You never feel like you can truly do it justice. This book truly made me laugh, giggle, sigh - and yes, cry. Tears poured down my face towards the end, when Beckett finally is able to have the moment he needs (and without spoiling anything) to really find that closure he has been aching for all those years since he lost his mom. He wasn't able to be there when she passed away, and that, is so incredibly heartbreaking. The way in which this moment was so beautifully written, and as a mother of boys, in especially one, who has the passion and wild streak that Beckett does, was like a lightbulb clicking on. So thank you Melissa, for the inspiration you probably didn't realize you were going to give mothers of fun loving energetic passionate boys!
I also realized towards the end of this book, the reason why I love to read Christian fiction. Yes, you can feel assured its going to have a positive message, will exclude all of the things you really don't want to read in a book etc. As an author writes, they are really writing their own belief system into the pages. It may be why others struggle to read faith based books. For me, reading Keep Holding On, I truly could see the light that shines in Melissa Tagg, and her faith in a God that is always there for us, even when things go wrong. Also, lets not assume each time something goes wrong, or our path does not see to be shaping up the way we expect, that its somehow a sign we are not doing what God wants. Most of our choices in life, He will leave up to us to make. Life won't be a smooth road either. The underlying theme here to 'burn your ships' and go all in, when making a choice - was a powerful one, and is what I will take away from this book.
Melissa has steadily developed in her writing, and with this book, she is right there at the top with the established writers who have many, many, more books under their belt. LOVE IT!!
I fell in love again, of course I loved Beckett before he ever got his own story.
He brings an air of mystery to the Walker family.
This is the third installment of the Walker Family series from Melissa Tagg, but don't let being in a series fool you. The series centers around the Walker Family from Maple Valley, Iowa. Honestly though, each story is a stand alone, including this one. As with ever series reading the other stories in the series gives you the full impact of the series.
This is Beckett's story as I said. He grew up in Maple Valley with his best friend, Kit Danby, living next door. There was just one problem, his feelings for Kit were much deeper than friendship, but when he revealed his feelings at an inopportune time she shot him down quickly. Beckett leaves town and hasn't returned for many years, instead making a home in Boston where he practices as an attorney at at prestigious firm. Beckett has a opportunity coming with United States Army "JAG" Corps., but has returned home for his cousin's wedding and to lay some unresolved issues to rest.
Kit Danby left for London after finishing college. She has had what most would consider a great career, but in her heart she knows there's something missing. My first thought is that she is looking for meaning to her life. Her arrival is met with disappointment and the past meeting the present. Her family owns the local apple tree farm and it's more than obvious that her brother has dropped the ball as far as the overall condition of the farm and trees. She is flooded with memories of yesterday and wants to connect with Beckett and apologize for their misunderstanding from years ago. In other words, she wants her best friend back.
This is a beautiful story about dreams, hope, second chances, and faith.
I felt the characters were both strong and easy to relate to. Both are at a crossroads in their lives as a result of decisions each made. Beckett is still haunted by the death of his mother and Kit is still seeking her father's approval. The plot pulled me in quickly and wrapped itself around me and held on until the last page was turned.

I’m still not sure what I think about this book. I have mixed feelings. Things I liked and things I didn’t like.
Things I didn’t like:
Once again this author put in a “shock factor” scene which I would have been happy to do without. I don’t care if you as a girl used to crawl into a boy’s bedroom window so you two could talk, you are both grown now. And should I add that you haven’t exchanged more than a few words in six years? Things change! And I never have, and I never will understand why people don’t take their clothes into the bathroom when they get a shower? It makes no sense to me at all!
I also disliked how often the guy and girl spent the night in the same house. Yes, sometimes someone else was with them, and they didn’t do anything wrong, but it still gives the wrong impression, and could lead to temptation.
While this is a “Christian” book, there was only a vague sort of feeling and a few mentions of God, a Bible verse mentioned maybe twice, and that’s about it. No real prayer or seeking godly council about all kinds of decisions. I wanted something stronger. Something more solid, more living Christianity.

And Kit was sweet. I liked watching her grow through trials and struggles. I loved the apple orchard and wanted to go pick apples there.
Or course the setting of Maple Valley was a delight! I’d like to go visit that little town myself and see one of their crazy events. The characters in the town made me smile. Well, except for Sam. But he came around.
The Walker family is so real and loving. A family that loves, that teases, that listens, and that helps each other. You know that they are going to be there for each member, and for the people of the town.
Altogether I sort of enjoyed the book, but there were things that kept me from fully enjoying it.

This is yet another quaint and perfect story from Melissa! It's light and cute on the surface with depths of emotion and faith at its heart.
Fun bits: twinkle lights. Casablanca. Food comas. Baby goats (!). Apple cider. Oh, and a brooding male (with good reason and a long-carried burden) and his subsequent romance with Kit.
*minor demand side note: I need Megan to have her own story! Pretty please, Melissa?*
I'd say the main theme of the story is about finding purpose and a place of belonging, whether it's a place of work, home, or family. And, about the constancy of God's faithfulness and trustworthiness. Beckett and Kit are similar in this respect, both trying to prove themselves, in a way. A slight minor story line is worked in with a theme of giving -- giving of yourself for others, realizing you might be the only person that can help someone else.
Fans of Melissa's Christmas novella, One Enchanted Christmas, will be happy and pelased at the lovely cameos and "updates" on Drew Renwycke and Maren.
These characters go through quite the challenges! Most striking was the interplay between Case (the dad) and Beckett; the healing, love, and relationship of those two from start to end. Beckett Walker hasn't returned home to Maple Valley in years. He's come back for his cousin's wedding. And to make amends for an incident that happened years ago when he stopped Kit Danby's wedding. Beckett knows that there's a pretty good chance he'll be arrested once the police know he's back in town considering that he stole a car and then wrecked it prior to leaving town. Kit Danby's supposed to be in London. But she's back in Maple Valley and trying to make sense of her life. Her family's apple orchard is in danger of closing, and Kit begs her father to allow her to make a go of it for the season. When trouble strikes, Kit turns to her best friend from childhood, Beckett, for assistance. Beckett's got to do a lot of community service and Kit's orchard is the place to do it. But can he keep from falling for his best friend - again?

Beckett and Kit were a cute couple. I thought that they did well together. Of course it's fun to see the other siblings as well. I am looking forward to Raegan's story.

Five tissue box alert. I bawled my eyes out towards the end of this novel. In fact my poor book is quite water logged -- there are pages that look like I left it out in the rain. :-( So, if you have any kind of heart at all, be prepared to sob your way to the end. And that's because Melissa Tagg makes you feel so much a part of the story that you can't help becoming emotionally invested.
After reading three of the Walker Family novels I feel like an extended member of the clan and I can't understand why they won't listen to my counsel when they get themselves into complicated situations. :-)
Take Beckett for example. He is one stubborn man. Complicated as all get out. Passionate and spontaneous -- some might even call him reckless. The exact opposite to Kit's more cautious nature. They made a great team growing up and the potential to restore that friendship...and more...is what drove me into a reading frenzy. And talk about toe-curling! Oh my! There are some deliciously swoonworthy scenes to offset the stomach churning ones.
Heart-wrenching angst laced with unwavering hope fueled by an inspiring faith thread make this a truly memorable read.

Another solid installment in the Walker Family saga :). Gotta say that I especially enjoyed the character of Beckett, his impulsive ways were quite endearing to me and he just seemed to fit perfectly with Kit- you can see how the two would go from "best friends to something more". I think that those who have enjoyed Melissa's other books about the Walkers, will enjoy this one just as much and learn more about the elusive brother "Beckett". Hoping there's another one- I'm thinking it will be Raegan's turn. Although I have to say I truly hope that Melissa Tagg has plans on telling poor Lucas' story- I bet that one will be a doozie!

Keep Holding On by Melissa Tagg is the third book in the Walker family series. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book because I have grown to love this fictional family. This book featured Beckett. He is the youngest son in the family and lawyer from Boston. He comes home for a wedding and is arrested for a warrant issued six years prior. So, the book hooked me from the beginning. I loved revisiting all the family members and meeting new friends along the way. I really enjoyed this book and I think you will too.

Melissa has written an outstanding book that I had a lot of fun reading. If you finish this book and do not want to visit an orchard or play with a baby goat, I am sorry.

Keep Holding On was a really good story. I loved the characters and getting to continue the Walker family story. This one was sort of a second chance romance and best friends to love story. I really liked the romance as it seemed believable and was sweet.
The story had some intense moments that made me eager to continue reading. The characters also had some struggles and it was emotional to read at times.
All in all, Keep Holding On was a great book and I recommend it.

I really like Melissa Tagg, both as an author and a person. We've yet to meet face to face, but she just seems like one of my people. Her newest release, the third book in the Walker Family series, has been on my radar since the second one came out April. It was great to revisit the fictional Iowa town of Maple Valley, and the storyline did not disappoint.
Beckett Walker has stayed away from home for six years, and his first trip back is unceremoniously interrupted when he is almost immediately arrested for a warrant issued long ago over a youthful indiscretion. That is hardly the way he wanted to face his family and friends after such a lengthy absence! He's returned home to try to clear up this mess and get things lined up for joining the JAG Corps, but now everything is more complicated than ever. Sentenced to a significant amount of community service, Beckett has no recourse but to make Maple Valley home for the next couple months.
Also on her first trip back home is horticulturalist Kit Danby, who made a life for herself in England after she left her Maple Valley groom at the altar six years ago. But there's a longing in Kit's heart that prompts her to make her flight to Iowa a one-way trip, and when she sees her grandparents' orchard, the place where she was raised, so abandoned and neglected, she wonders if this is where her heart is supposed to be. The orchard is still in her family, and her absentee and nearly estranged father agrees to let Kit try to revive it, on the condition that she turn a profit her very first season.
Once childhood best friends, Beckett and Kit get to know each other again when he is able to arrange to serve his community service at her orchard. The pull of her heart to make this orchard work is just as strong as the pull of Beckett's heart to find adventure and fulfillment in his new career with the military. Even as they feel the draw of attraction which they never explored as kids, they brace themselves for the parting they know is coming.
While Melissa has explored plenty of deep emotions in her previous books, this one felt a little different for me. There was a maturity in the writing which set this story apart. Beckett's pain of always feeling on the outskirts made him a truly compelling protagonist, his emotions written in such a way that you truly understood the choices he made. He seems to be cursed with constantly missing big moments, and not knowing how to handle that grief keeps driving him away from the people he loves. Watching the beginning of Beckett's healing left me full of wonder and hope. There were some ways that I really related to Kit as well, nearly choking up with the ways God spoke to her heart because they were so familiar to me, echoing ways that God has spoken to mine.
The orchard setting makes this perfect autumn reading. As Beckett and Kit fight for the orchard and fight for a home for each of their hearts, you'll be drawn in to the wonderful place that is Maple Valley and its colorful cast of characters - and also to the love of God that keeps Him always holding on to us.

I am not normally into hallmark-esk books, but this one was an exception. It was sweet and funny, and I found myself loving both the main characters. Of course, I missed a few things since I came in mid-series, but I still enjoyed it. I really loved Kit and Bracket having been friends for so long before dating. And the apple orchard was cool!
My one complaint was two awkward comments/scenes. one involved a slightly suggestive comment from Bracket (Which really wasn't too bad, but I just didn't like it), and one scene with a character in a bath towel.
