[ ★★★,3 / 5 ]

Contains three stories:

📕 1. The Heart of Miscalculation

Pretend-relationship-turned-into-real trope, this is for you 🤝🏻
This is the main story of this manga. It has three chapters and a pretty solid plot. Miki and Udou dynamics was good. Their interactions are always interesting. I like their characterization too. Miki is not your typical weak, shy, reserved uke ((well to be fair, typical uke is not all bad and sometimes has their own charm... as long as it's not overdone LOL —uhuk yes pardon...)). He's flirty, blunt, passionate ((as in immoral passionate LMAO)), and knows exactly what he wants. Udou is also an interesting character. He's calm, usually reserved, and pretty rational. Basically, not your usual overly dramatic seme. He's good at handling Miki and actually following Miki's impulses in moderate amount ((honestly, Miki needs a sane partner or else his life will be ruined anytime soon LMAO—)).

And Takayuki (Ryuuta older brother) is really interesting too! He's my favorite character in this story. I can sense he had a twisted and difficult personality, and I would love to see some depth and a lil angsty-touch in his characterization ((—and yeah obviously because he's pretty)). Lucky us this has a spin-off (終わらない不幸についての話 (Owaranai Fukou ni Tsuite no Hanashi)), which featuring him as the main character! Yeay!

Order of reading this series ((for best reading experiences)):
(Gosan no Heart)this book
(Gosan no Heart)'s spin-off
(Owaranai Fukou ni Tsuite no Hanashi)'s sequel

📗 2. Last Summer Blues
A bittersweet oneshot story about two boys who love baseball.

📘 3. A Vulnerable Afternoon
A soft story of two salary men ✅

Miscalculated Heart is a rare gem among the sea of countless yaoi mangas centered on school life and teenage school boys.

The story is simple enough: bored out of his mind, the playboy main character suggests to his serious-looking schoolmate to play-date together, after the former saved the latter from a clinging female student who reacted badly after being turned down. Everything is in good fun until the two have sex and the serious-looking student starts showing unexpected sides of his personality.

As with Chise Ogawa's other mangas, the artwork is awesome and the characters are cute, I really like how the relationship between the two MCs is developed and I'm glad Ogawa doesn't go by the formalized seme/uke stereotypes much.

It's a light-hearted, funny and well written yaoi romance. However, I'm not very interested in the other two side-stories, they pale in comparison to the main story.

“As if I could change for anyone!” I swear Chise Ogawa loves this kind of trope. Not gonna lie though, it's my kind of jam as well. And the all-consuming love!! I just read an 8-volume series full of it by Ogawa yesterday and I still haven't moved on. This series is a good follow-up to my Caste Heaven withdrawal syndrome. This time, it's more cute and fluffy—the things I was looking for the latter series! And the touch of spiciness is still there.

I also love the filler stories, especially the baseball one!! That's so adorable!! Now, I feel like reading Ace of Diamond!!

(I'm really being strict these days; in the the old days this probably would have gotten four stars.)

A collection of three stories - as often happens, the title story is the longest one while the other two are shorter. In this case, the title story wasn' the best though.

誤算のハート is set in in high school and features two boys who start "pretend-dating" in order for one of the guys to get rid of an persistent ex-girlfriend. But after they've been pretend-dating for a while, they start having real sex and then develop real feelings. Oddly enough, even though there are probably hundreds (if not thousands) variations of that story, in the beginning it didn't feel at all like it. But then came the chapter where the seme's attractive older brother appeared, and that chapter really ruined the story for me. Not just because of the cliché - I really fail to see the humour in kidnapping someone and "pretending" to rape them. (It could be interesting if it happened to the seme - minus the rape - but this way just... pisses me off.) So the first story was a mixed bag for me.

The second story is about two guys in a high school baseball team. Since I've been reading "Ace of Diamond" lately, that was good timing, I guess, and the story itself was pretty good. It had a nice wistful feeling to it.

My favourite story was by far the third one, and if that had been the main story (and had been elaborated on) I might have given it four stars. It's a story about two salary men (which I admittedly prefer over stories about high school kids - I've decided to skip out on those in the future unless they're exceptionally good) - one of them breaks the other one's glasses and ends up accompanying him back to his apartment. In itself, it wasn't particularly original, but there was a lovely tension between the two characters and I just thought it was really well done.

This manga could´ve been really sweet, fun and sexy. But the characters didn´t really grow on me and the absolutely unnecessary story with Udou´s brother made me want to scream.

Some of the proportions of the characters seemed really off at times too...

So yeah, it´s okay but not something to write home about.

This manga contains three different titles: one main story and two one-shots. For me, the two one-shots are what save this manga.

My favorite is "Last Summer Blues." If it had been the main story, I think it would have been more interesting. This chapter is what made me give it a higher rating.

Este volumen es una colección de historias:

Cap. 1 a Cap 3. The Heart of Miscalculation

Cap. 4. Last Summer Blues

Cap. 5. A Vulnerable Afternoon

Me encanta.

Cap. 6. The Date of Miscalculation
Capítulo extra de "The Heart of Miscalculation"

Cap. 7. he World Revolves Around You

Loved the artwork, but like with a lot of m/m romances [yaoi] there were some problematic elements to the relationship these two guys had. Specifically there were a few red flags on controlling/abusive behavior masked as romance and love.

"Leave me and I will kill you" and "Forgive me, I disobeyed you..." were two that I wrote down because they pulled me straight out of the story just from the harshness in tone and the ludicrous idea that this is the type of relationship that anyone who hope to have...

i really like all the books i read from you, and also i like the fact that the twins with weird hairstyle appeared in some of them
I don´t have anything bad to say about them, the hot scence, the romantic ones and all of them make me feel inside the book and feel as if i were the one falling in love

---

"Last Summer Blues" is short and simple. It tells us the story of the defeat of a high school baseball team and the subsequent retirement of its "ace" player.

Despite its brevity, it has time to explore the meaning of the main player's retirement and his true reasons for doing so.

As for the character designs, they are quite similar, and the flashback scenes require extra effort to distinguish one from another.

It's not a bad story; it avoids unnecessary complications and feels very “slice of life”. However, it's so generic that it risks being forgettable.
